🔒 Ways To Store Crypto 🔒
Here’s the deal: There are quite a few different ways to store crypto, all with their distinct pros and cons
Most newbies simply rock onto an exchange, get their crypto and just keep it there. That’s the easy option but here’s the thing; exchanges get hacked pretty often and shady exchanges out there try to steal your crypto.
Yes, there are legit exchanges out there. But you still never be 100% sure that your crypto is safe. So, do yourself a favour and get those funds off that exchange
There are plenty of wallets out there that allow you to control those private keys. The easiest way to make that happen is to use a free wallet app like Exodus
Then you have paper wallets. These are not so convenient or popular these days
❓ What Are Hardware Wallets? ❓
I personally opt for hardware wallets to store my crypto. They are literally the most secure wallets money can buy and are physical devices that come in manner of shapes and sizes. So, why not treat that crypto like the million dollars that it might be one day?
5️⃣ Ledger 5️⃣
I am going to be straight up. I used to use Ledger all the time and it was a great hardware wallet. That was until 272,000 customer addresses, names and phone numbers were hacked and released into the wilds on the internet. People have been scared, scammed and some have probably moved house because of this
If you are willing to overlook this lapse then I can say that the Ledger Nano S is a great device that comes in at a very reasonable £55. It allows you to store 1,500 different cryptos. The main drawback is that you can only have three or six apps on the device at once - annoying if you have a massive altcoin portfolio
The Ledger Nano X is the upgraded version of the S. It’s got a bigger screen and bluetooth connectivity which allows you to use the device on your mobile. But it is double the price of the S
4️⃣ ColdCard 4️⃣
This wallet allows you to store only Bitcoin. However, it is the most secure hardware wallet I have seen. That security comes at the expense of ease-of-use though
3️⃣ Ellipal Titan 3️⃣
This hardware wallet comes in at $139. But for that money you get amazing build quality, anti-tamper features and it’s completely air-gapped. Oh yes, you can store over 7,000 crypto assets on it too
2️⃣ Keep Key 2️⃣
This is the most economic hardware wallet I've come across and you can get your hands on one for just $49. It’s got an impressively big screen, integrates into ShapeShift and supports over 40 different coins. However, you can store any ERC-20 token on it - so yep, KeepKey supports more cryptos then you might initially think

Cool, i see you did your homework since i talked about the Ellipal Titan on one of your previous videos (about hardware wallets) and you mentioned you didn't know it at the time and would check it; done as promised. It is not perfect but i prefer it (by far) to Ledger (even though they are from my country) and Trezor (that i prefer vs Ledger). Good video as always

I had heard about the Ledger data breach after I'd purchased my Ledger - Fortunately I'd just started investing in November and bought my wallet 2 weeks later, so I dodged that bullet. So far, I've been quite happy with it. If Ledger is worth its salt, they'll have fixed and will be able to prevent a future breach. As a newbie, Ledger isn't a bad choice. However, I'd not heard about Ellipal and may consider them as a second wallet choice.

Wonderful video! You've made this wallet business finally make sense.
Also consider 'diversity' of storage instead of one or two 'ultra-trusted' ones. By storing in multiple exchanges, the risk is drastically divided, e.g. if you use twenty different ones - As well as having a Trezor and a BitFi and a Ledger, also store some in Exodus, Binance, BlockFi, etc.
Thats me, old school diversification. Plus they all serve very different functions.
Not your keys, not your crypto. Exchanges aren't a bank account. They aren't federally regulated. You could lose your coin at literally anytime and there no laws requiring you be reimbursed.
If you are trading small amounts, leave it on there. If you're hodling you put it in cold storage

@@bqwood I did and I understood why Guy doesn’t support it anymore. But trezor 1 still doesn’t support ADA. And Trezor T is abit out of my price range. I have also read up on the new security measures at ledger now, so I feel confident enough to try it out.

And indeed, after a hack like the one Ledger has suffered last year, one may reasonably assume they have cranked their security up a notch (but maybe I'm naively having too high expectations...).
@@jdjphotographynl nope security is Ledgers bread and butter as a company providing a secure solution to crypto so im sure they have put time and money on the issue and to put it another way .........I would'nt want to be in there IT security team went it happened....and the 1st thing i did was setup a proton email account before stepping into crypto. I too got a nano s last week , Imay build a Trezor hardware wallet with 1 of my raspberry pi zero's in case I mine a few alt coins.

I was surprised to hear Trezor supports the most crypto currencies though, as I became under the assumption that title went to Ledger. That's actually why I chose Ledger over Trezor. But okay, guess I could still return my Ledger in the worst case scenario...

I never bought one of these wallets before (and i'm planning to) but it seems for me that the trick would be to buy it with cash or crypto themselves so it can't be traced back to you...also when you give a shipping address it should be sent to a ups store or a friends house...and don't give your real name (maybe your business name or something)

Before that it means nothing. Likewise for your key you will have to put in your information. So to have it deregulated completely you have to set up an account on a deregulated platform, you can't change cash for crypto on these platforms. Only coins for coins.

I looked at Shapeshift after you showcased KeepKey, and on their website it says you can get the KK hardware wallet for 10$ when you create an account as well...
