    Great video Rob! To answer your question about the chamfer, all of our scales from this point forward have the new rounded edges. This includes griptilian and mini grip scales. We still have some old inventory with the regular chamfer but everything we are machining now has the newer finish applied. It’s the same machining process, we just added the addition step of tumbling our scales in a heavy abrasive afterwards to round off all the sharp edges and corners. We think it makes it more comfortable in the hand and look a little more refined. -Shane

      AppliedWeaponsTechLLC Thanks for shedding some light on this detail, Shane. I remember talking with you about those sharp corners when your first Griptilian scales were released. I knows these were much more comfortable, but didn’t know exactly how you got there. By the way, these things are AWESOME! Definitely the best handle I’ve had in hand yet for the Bugout.

    Thanks for the tutorial, watched it again right before installing my OD Green set. It is hard anodized, but I have noticed light scratches, even with little use. It's no where near as bad as Ti scales, but it will scratch up (easier than I thought it would). Still, they look really good and are comfortable (but cold in the winter).

    I have after market scales on my Bugout, from Putman Scales. They have a very nice selection with a choice of both g10 and micarta scales. GP knives offers them already assembled on the knives. Very happy with mine.

    Thanks for the video Rob. I've recently purchased my first Bugout and was kind of disappointed in all the scale flex. These aftermarket scales look like just the ticket. They seam to have the rigidity I'm looking for whilst holding true to the original lightness inteded in the Bugout design.

    • @TheApostleP
      @TheApostleP  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      InnerCityPigeon While I understand the demand for aftermarket scales for the Bugout, I think it’s gotten a bad rap for the flexibility of its handle. It was, after all, designed to be 1.7 ounce pack knife with great cutting capability. It’s not a Medford or an Adamas - wasn’t meant to be. But since it’s blade geometry and handle design made it such a great EDC knife as well, it began to be judged by standards it was never intended to meet. So the aftermarket scale demand has been great. But Benchmade has been paying attention. Have you seen the new jade / blue G10 version?

      @@TheApostleP The new natural g10 model coming out is interesting. I normally dont care for natural g10 because it looks like a glow in the dark kids toy that doesn't work anymore but that dye job they did with the ghostly butterfly is pretty cool. I might have to pick up a second Bugout soon.

      TheApostleP 100% agree. People make way too big a deal about the Bugout scales. They're lightweight, modern materials on purpose. I have some aftermarket scales on one of my Bugouts, but it can handle 99.9% of most people's EDC needs just fine, right from the factory. Great video as always sir. I may need to give
      a set of these AWT scales a try. 👍🏻

    I bought their honeycomb scales for my Griptillian several years ago, and have never liked them-way too thick. The knife seemed like it was an inch wide!
    They look good though!

    • @bradleyhoward74
      @bradleyhoward74 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should give them another shot. They are actually thinner than the original grips reducing the overall thickness of the knife from .650" down to .520" on the full size griptilian and from .515" down to .440" on the mini grip. He's made some modifications it seems. They're awesome now actually.
