- I get a lot of questions on forums/youtube/facebook asking how you can upgrade from the earlier model red FIS unit to the TTS/late model white FIS screen clusters.
This is one of several options you can look into so have the ability to interchange instrument clusters. Any way you go about it - it's not a simple process but for those of you who really want to do it - this is an outline of the process.

Hi! I saw that you have a difference between the two clusters for the level of gas in the car, do you know if there any calibration possible for the gauge? Also have this pb on my s3 8p
Hey Jonathan. There is a calibration using VCDS where you can choose between AWD and FWD.

Where did you get the new eeprom file that you wrote back to the ecu?

Do I need to worry about the Immobiliser if I am simply changing the LCD panel in the existing cluster? I have a red L:CD on my mk2 that has started to fail. I've bought a scrap cluster which I will remove the LCD from and put it into my existing cluster. The replacement LCD panel is also red so I think it should just be a case of removing the existing cluster, opening it up and swapping out the broken LCD for the replacement LCD and putting it back in.

No need to worry about immobiliser data in your case :).
Just he careful when replacing the needles. They can be finicky. Make sure the rear of the motor is pressed onto something hard like a glass surface.
Hey, i have old style red cluster and no option to program needle sweep. Did you have it( is your cluster newer than mine,but still “old style”) or you made it do sweep?

BlowYourShot the modification is done “the long way” - option two of making white screen upgrade. It’s a software change.

It is doable by anyone but the tools are different and you must be confident in opening the cluster, then you need to make both hardware and software modifications.

Hi Ian, i bought an Auction 2016 Audi S3 8v with a missing cluster. It had a virtual cockpit. I have fitted a replacement used VC but it needs online programming. How do I bypass the immobiliser to start and at least move the car out of the way.
Hi Wraith. You will need to find someone with something like Abrites (auto locksmith hardware) to help you.

Most likely the led's behind have failed. You can go in there and replace the led's.

No the mk3 has a different kind of high speed data system that’s not in the Mk2.

Cool! But no need to do immo off, you just need to read immdata from both clusters and swap pin, cs, mac, etc. u can do it by obd2 and avdi/vvdi2.

Should work ok.
when you change the panel! Does the km change too or does it always stay the same?
Good question. The km is coded with the cluster. So if you get a 2nd hand one it will have a KM reading on the odometer already which sticks. It doesn't automatically change to what your car originally had and needs to be adjusted to match.

I think that year is A4 B7? If that's the case then yes the change is possible.

You need to check your coding and turn off magride :)

@@Smith6265 hello. Yes you cannot just plug and play. Either immo off or you can recode the cluster.

@@Smith6265 yeah talk to your garage and if they have experience in immobiliser 4 they can help. If not ask them for automotive locksmith. They’re the next best bet.
can u tell me why the bulbs come on and off in the dash board and the rev counter side goes blank
Sounds like some solders might have come dry on your clusters PCB. Is it happening with extremes in Temp?
@@ianpgonzaga hi after trying another dash clock from ebay it made it worse with the same bar code on the sticker the only thing that was wrong was having no lights at all. . by trying the second dash all the warning lights came on and my steering went hard . took it to audi which was12 miles away it start to looseing it self right. so i left it so i can get another dash to put in . not knowing that the clocks as an imoblizer built in when taken out completely it do not even start
change the face clocks and kept my original one to make one up . it works but now i cant get the esp light off it because of linking it in the car causing it to stay on perminately any idea could it be a sensor dash say fault readers manaul cheers
@@hilarypelage5025 because you had swapped the other cluster in and run it. Then put your original one back - some basic settings have been lost.
A euro garage / mechanic will be able to help sort that out. You will need to run basic settings again.
To get the replacement to work either
- immo defeat the ecu
- have the cluster’s data matched to your car.

your car should start when you use all original parts to the car. including original instrument cluster and original key
Similar situation : Audi TT mk2
Original cluster failed. Unable to retrieve SKC. Bought cluster from a scrapyard including ECU. Did immobiliser delete on the scrap ecu. With immobiliser deleted ecu and replacement cluster the car starts and runs... however..
The replacement cluster shows SAFE and I'm unable to use the remote keys to lock/unlock and also while in the car I am unable to operate any electric windows. All other functions appear to work except:
- electric windows and the locking/unlocking via key fob. Please help 😅

Hello. I changed the indicator on my 2008 a3 vehicle. I transferred all the km immo information to the new indicator, but I am getting ABS warning with the new indicator and I cannot clear the fault. Can you help me on what to do??
Probably plug your old cluster in. Get the abs coding. And put it into the new one. It's probably different. :)

You need to turn off the ecu Immobiliser or you can get the cluster matched by someone who can do it. In what country are you?

@@Benko_DieseL basically a software update. Need to open the cluster. dismantle the two halves then solder some points. Lift some legs off a chip. Then read. Then adjust file. Then write new file to the cluster. Then adapt with vcds.

Αισχος Ντροπη if you still have your old cluster what you should do is plug it back in. After. Take the instrument module coding (17)
Transfer that coding into your white FIS cluster. That should get you on the right track.

Yes. If all modules are fine the basic settings eventually work themselves out.
Windows will not work with this mod. So isn’t really functional!

With immo off on 8j you will have no power windows, no abs, no traction control
