- In this end-to-end installation you’ll see how to upgrade the Audi TT Mk2 8J instrument cluster to ColourMFA. YES this is real!!! You can go from your red or white screen to the full glory of ColourMFA 🌈
ColourMFA is compatible with all following PQ35 cars (with some exceptions)
- Audi TT, TTS, TT 3.2, TTRS 8J
- Audi A3, S3, RS3 8P
- Golf Mk5 GTI, R32 (must be half screen)
- Jetta Mk5
- Skoda Mk2 1z
This is awesome news for people who own newer generation cars and are looking to upgrade their instrument clusters. I still think this is the best in terms of functionality (even compared to the full digital clusters in all the current models) as you get so much more information being displayed PLUS diagnostics PLUS so much more!
FYI - the kits are VERY limited at this point in time due to them being sourced from Russia. May the peace come soon so we're able to get this amazing hardware into our Audi TT's.
Here's a quick rundown of the ColourMFA features:
- current speed
- average speed
- travel time
- distance traveled
- remaining fuel in liters
- boost pressure (for turbocharged engines)
- engine temperature
- inlet temperature
- oil temperature
- on-board network voltage
- engine torque
- current consumption
- average consumption
- oil level (in mm)
Diagnostics:
- reading data by groups
- error reading
- erasing errors
- viewing error codes
- support for KW1281 and KWP2000 protocols (K-Line and CAN)
- plotting on the screen of graphs according to the data in the current group
... and SO much more.

Is ColourMFA a mod that you would like on your Audi TT Mk2 8J or is it not interesting to you? 🤔
It’s too finicky and board modifications are far too inconveniencing. Hopefully in the future plug and play modern aftermarket clusters will be a thing for older vehicles as head units are.

i really want to do this. I have a 2008 audi TT. Will this work? And at 0:35 seconds, how are you changing the settings on the stock screen? like pulling up lap times ect.

One question - I can see at the start of the video you have all red displays including the ones showing date time and kilometers but in the end of the video all small displays are black white.
Did you changed small displays too or red ones changed colour?

@@marincatlak8614 yes that's correct. To match all data and KM odometer you need special hardware/software to do this.
I'd love this upgrade in my 2007 TT 8J, any idea's of the cost for parts and installation?
Hi Alex. The parts itself is around $250USD. DIY Installation is doable as this video shows but if you need someone to do it it takes about a day to get it done. So factor that into the cost too.

Hey, you’re the only guy I know that would have an idea on the answer to this question… do you know if you could swap out a MK2 TT 3.2 speedo Gauge for a MK2 TTS speedo gauge?
Yes you can swap them. Just need the right tools to be able to match all the cluster data from original to replacement.

Hey Pietro. Not that I know of they have a communication wiring that the 8J doesn't.
Do you sell these? I have an 8J TT RS and would love to get my hands on one.
I was until the kits stopped being made. An alternative is 3DColorMFD - if you check them out on Facebook you'll see it's a similar product.
Where can you get the VDSC software from?
Just check the rosstech website. The software is free. It's the cables that cost.

Yes that's one of the measures ColourMFA can do.

@@OO-fc4ys the instrument cluster is integral to immobilizer system. If you break the Chain in that system the car is immobilized. It'll turn over once and then die.
