    I have used VAG TACHO to get PIN from the cluster in my B5 S4. But i dont not know what the PIN for my replacement cluster is. How to find out?

    @RossTechVCDS, How do I retrieve pin of a old ecm I purchase from breakers?
    Is this the same pin I used to program my keys I extracted with Vag Tacho?

      The original ECM will always have the same PIN number as as the original cluster. You will have to get a ECM pin code scanner to extract the pin from your 2nd hand ECM. Vag Tacho should have ECU PIN read feature though. The value you enter in the "32000" field is the PIN number of the cluster (same PIN code you used to program keys).

    Am I following this right? Pay $350 for VCDS, if car needs a cluster or ecm, still need to hire a locksmith for services? If so, that's bullshit. The whole point of investing hundreds of dollars on technical equipment is to AVOID having to pay someone (locksmith) to do the work.

    What if you just swap the key fob the cluster and ECU all from the same donor car will that work?

      Probably the easiest way the do it instead of worrying about software and programming.

    In most cases, no. In the context of doing an Immobilizer 3 swap, if you input a wrong PIN, then the control module will lock you out for X amount of time. But nothing permanent.

    Hi, thank for the great videos, I followed the instructions, when I enter my PIN code, I wait almost 1 minute then it displays : perturbation (have vcds in French) for a second, then it displays PIN ?.

    Hello ,
    I would like to ask for advice and help.
    I'm planning to swap the cluster in my car ( Passat 1.8T, AWT, 2002 year, manual transmission ).
    For now MFA cluster is in the car, but I have a chance to purchase a FIS cluster.
    The only problem and difference between two clusters is that the other cluster is from automatic transmission car ( the car is AWT, same year of produce, different gearbox ).
    So, I would like to ask, do I purchase that cluster or not ?
    Can I adjust without any issue that cluster to my manual transmission car ?

    Is there a way to reprogram my second key to be recognised by immobilizer? Key was working fine but i tried to take radio out by bit of force and the key stopped working. I have other key that only locks car manualy. And the button on starting key doesnt work.

    This procedure does not work on 2005 Caddy. It gets to “immobiliser adjustment enabled” then will not do anything else! Any ideas????

    Is there a number where I can call and talk to somebody about an ecm swap In a 2003 VW New Beetle? Im trying to bypass the immobilizer or do something so this VW ecm swap will work. My VW starts but dies
    Instantly. The original ecm is missing pins and can't be plugged in. I need to know what to do next please? Thanks, jewelz ( it is a immobilizer 3). I found the sticker back by the spare tire for the code for the cluster but not sure which one it is or if this is good information?

    I sent my ECU in to remove the Immobilizer as it didn't work.. So instead of replacing it, It was alot cheaper to disable it.
    However, when I got it back the ECU says XXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX (Both VIN and Immo ID).
    As for now, I have access to the full version of VCDS .. So what should i do in this case?

      The HEX-NET or the HEX-V2 along with whatever the current version of VCDS. As of right now, 19.6.1 is the current version of VCDS, but that will be out of date in the future.... we push updates about every 4 or 5 months as a rule of thumb.

    Io non ho capito come devo fare per sostituire il Quadro Strumenti originale di un audi A4 2,5 V6 codice motore AFB anno 1997 al 2001 con quadro strumenti con Immobilizzatore III integrato Preso audi A6 2,5 V6 codice motore AKN anno 1999 la 2002.     Hi, one question, to retrieve the PIN from the replacement cluster (used one), is it possible to do it just connecting it to the car and using a pin reader tool? or should I get it before getting it off from the original car? Thanks!!

    hi in changing ecm how do i get the used ecm code and the original ecm code ?? can i get the original ecm code from instrument cluster since they are the same pin (i can do it using super vag k + can), if vcds does not retrieve the code from the used ecm can you recommend me a device that can do the job please help me

    Motor blow!!! planing on transferring my ECU (stage 3 tune) and cluster in into my other Volkswagen TDI mk4. (mmobilizer was deleted in the first car)
    Will i have any issues once installed?
    Will i have to delete the mmobilizer?
    Will i have to reprogram the keys? with VCDS?

    hi need help I have a seat leon mk2 2007 I have pin for original and 2nd hand instrument cluster but when matching to car login 11 is greyed out so I use security access and enter my pin it says incorrect pin I then have to wait around 10 mins to reset. the pin I have works when doing the same but on the immobiliser security access and it accepts it. can someone help please. Oh btw I'm changing from standard clocks to fr clocks. thanks in advance

    I drive a 2005 MK4 GTI and the engine immobilizer prevents my car from starting at random times throughout the week, about 6 months ago I unplugged the instrument cluster and plugged it back in, I didn't have any problems for 6 months, but now it is happening all over again, say I replaced the instrument cluster, do you think this will remove the engine immobilizer problem?

    How does the correct VIN from the original ECU get copied over to the replaced ECU with pin alone? This procedure suggests no matter what the original VIN should be copied over.

      it hamms and hashes the binary converted VIN into something mixed against the PIN and compresses it and shits an algorithm result - compressed maybe like JPEG or error correction

    if i buy an ecu that is compatible with my car that has a tune on it then use this to be able to start the car with the tuned ecu not original to my car will it work? will it still hold the tunes in it?

      VCDS will not and cannot affect any aspects of maps...with that being said whatever is there will be there.

    @Tony no you don't have to hire a locksmith. You can buy Vag Tacho, which is another $500. At least you'll never come out to find your car gone.

    Hello to all! I'm from Brazil and I'm trying to change the dashboard of my polo 9n but when I enter the original PIN of my car in item 17> 11> '50 'it says channel 50 is unavailable. My doubt is, I have to buy another VCDS compatible or am I doing wrong? the process described in the video should be done with the old panel on the car or the new panel on the car?

    For clusters just copy data from old dump to the new one. No key adaptation, pin and you can set old mileage.

      I have tried that with my original BOSCH 1j0920826C and i think it doenst "copy" correctly all the eeprom (using eeprom manager), because i try to write the original eeprom to a VDO 1j5920826C from VDO and at 50% failed.. readed that bosch are hard to read eeprom

    I'm buying a replacement ECU for my car, which I am going to remap then replace the original one, if I do the procedure as shown in the video (a used ECU) will I be able to swap them back and forth if something goes wrong? i.e. once I've set the pin in the 'new' ECU, will the cluster then not accept (immobilise) the old ECU?
    If at all possible I'd like to 'clone' my original ECU, I was considering opening up both and reading the Serial EEPROM contents from the original and just dumping it into the new one. Would this work?

      There is no limit to how many ECMs (or Instrument Clusters) you can have matched up to a vehicle. As for EPROM dump... I've not done it, so I suspect the correct answer would be a "definite maybe".

      RossTechVCDS Ok, so if I was to do the procedure, then the new ECU didn't work for whatever reason, I could just put the old one back in and wouldn't need to re-code it?
      When I get my hands on the new (used) ECU I will open it and perform an EEPROM dump (backup), then I'll dump the EEPROM from my original ECU and write that to my new one. With any luck all of the VIN information will be held here and just transfer over so that either ECU could be used. A while ago I dumped the EEPROM from an earlier (but similar) ECU to my car, there was a 5 digit number plainly visible in the dump, looked suspiciously like the SKC.

      @@ryanscarver it worked ok, I had a spare ECU which was essentially just an EEPROM clone of the original ECU, so the cluster was unaware anything was different when I swapped them.
      I chopped that car in 4 years ago but still have the remapped ECU, and even the cluster etc as I'm eventually going to use it in my T3 camper van which I've converted to TDi.

      Keys are paired to cluster, cluster is paired to ECU

    I'm replacing the ECM that was damaged from my customer replacing his own radio. I cannot read info from the old module. Can I still install a used module if I cannot access the original PIN information? I can however assess the Cluster, it is my understanding that the cluster and ECM have the same PIC information.

      83554 83554 use VAG Tacho software to retrieve PINs.

      Thanks @@aygwm .Have you had good experiences with VAG tacho?It says somewhere that you can brick the cluster if not careful and is it guaranteed that it willl give you the PIN number?Also reading on some other sites it says that only locksmiths using specialized equipment can retrieve the PIN.

      shredtilyurdead I have not used it myself but it’s the de facto tool for doing the job. I can’t imagine you’d have any risk of bricking your cluster just reading the SKC PIN. Probably more likely someone trying to write to the EEPROM and messing it up or something. But the tool is a rental and is designed to do this very thing.
