on the one hand, yeah he probably would have... on the other, it stayed mostly consistent to trek's ideals of humanity in particular (minus section 31), and showed us staying sane and united in the face of an overwhelming enemy who absolutely could not be negotiated with.
By the standards of the day absolutely but there were like 6 different recycles of previous things in this clip alone. A couple of them from previous ds9 episodes a few from the star trek movies.

It makes me so sad when the three of them did get down on Cardassia to drink the bloodline and Sisko and Ross were buzzkills and even chastised Martok for celebrating their victory seeing as the Dominion had almost eradicated the entire Cardassian race on the planet

It really was a mistake. And you were right for the first 2 or 3 seasons of DS9, unfortunately people only really give a show 2 seasons to get their head out of their rear or they don’t come back.

Not a bash on the modern shows, it's just this puts you in the pants of a fighter jet pilot, and most beauty passes on starships, even in combat, try to capture the scale of the ship rather than its viewpoint. Unique to the Defiant as a smaller ship or not, it was executed so well with the underbelly of the Galaxy-class panning by.

That whole sequence was reused battle footage from previous episodes. The whole Jem'Hadar crashing into the Klingon ships scene only made sense in the battle of Chin'Tokka. It shouldn't have been used for this battle.

Also, the scene following Sisko saying "This is our chance to punch through" was from the second battle of Chin'Tokka right before the Breen used their energy dampening weapons.
Most likely it was due to budget restrictions on the season. This season was already SFX heavy and they were probably cutting corners as it was to save money. Berman was notorious for being a cheapsake on Star Trek's budget at the time. Now I'd probably want to have some talented 3D artists here on TH-cam go in and flesh out these battle scenes. Sort of like JTFX and his Wolf 359 battle scene.
It was season 3 onwards it got better. I used to watch it on BBC I thought it was boring too but before and during the Dominion War it got loads better.
if i remeber right in cannon at most they had 3 maybe 4 Sovereign class ships that were built and functioning, they were being used for negiotians, critical border patrol, and hit and run tactics, as for the quantuam torpedos, not all ships were upgraded to launch them as most were quick refits and installing those launchers takes a lot of time and upgrades to the ships systems, and of course good old budget and liscense issues
According to the novels, multiple Dominion fleets were fighting many Federation Alliance fleets across multiple sectors. The fleets we see fighting in this scene are just one of many fleets.
Why are all those ships so close together 🙃 Normally big Star Trek ships are almost impossible to destroy, but in these DS9 fights they are all made of tissue paper and blow up in a couple of shots 😞
They couldn't leave the civilians on Cardassia Prime to suffer Dominion reprisals/ occupation after crucial assistance from Cardassian defectors. That could be interpreted alot of different ways, but, in the moment: Forward ho! Foncez!
That's very true, but they didn't know what was happening on Cardassia Prime until they reached that final defensive line. Fortunately for the Cardassians, the decision was made to press on.
Just rewatched DS9 again, still annoys me that they were reusing battle footage from previous episodes, but it’s my favorite series in Star Trek, best characters, they had flaws and weren’t so perfect

Romulans and Klingons have a much bitter relationship that either do with humans. I could see Martok not inviting the Romulan leader and, even if he had, him not accepting the offer.
Starfleet Should of built more Defiant Classes! Especially during the Dominion War they needed more during this period needed more war ships like Defiant.
You know, after the Cardassians switched sides, it might be a good idea to include the Cardassian fleet commander in at least some of your discussions, particularly when you're talking about assaulting Cardassia Prime.

Why hasn't anyone made a Star Trek flying combat game? Star Wars has Rogue Squadron, Rogue Leader, the Starfighter Assault mode in Star Wars: Battlefront II, and even the space battles in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga are pretty good. But nothing like that for Star Trek that I know of.
Always disappointed where the final biggest battle was just a bunch of reused recycled clips throughout the series. Also what’s the deal with the “extra” guy in the background at 3:34 not even looking at the control pad as he was clearly was faking pushing buttons.
The only thing that stunk about this battle was the reused clips, I would rather they just have scenes on the bridge talking about it then reshow those clips. It came off kind of lazy.
Give him a break...he's 22 by the series finale, Jadzia alone was about 33 when she died, never mind the symbiote which carried almost 400 years worth of memories and experience including at least one lifetime professional pilot.

The Dominion never was defeated. Their expeditionary force in the Alpha Quadrant lost all ground and the Founder agreed to surrender and retreat their forces back to the Gamma Quadrant.
It bothered me that they didn't include the Enterprise as it was the flagship of the federation. Didn't make sense. They didn't even have a single scene with Picard or Riker. Also, why didn't they have a small scene showing the Cardassians deciding to switch sides instead of a cop out explanation.
DS9 in the last season was a huge disappointment, 8 episodes of victor fontane,a holographic night club owner.the stories weren't even that good.the dominion war took a back seat thruout until the last 4 episodes.ive haven't watched it again since.
If the kardashians lost 140 million and 80 million of them were women and children that were slaughtered by the gym Hadar how many did the federation lose how many cling on's died how many rhymes in the brain were they ever punished for sticking their nose in

Roddenberry would have hated it but it really made DS9 a great show for the fans.

At this time the battle has probably been going on for hours and Breen shields were probably drained from the fighting.
Cardassian ships were upgraded by Dominion weaponry/technology. That was well discussed in series and other media around it.

Martok preferred to use the Bird of Prey Rotarin as his main ship as from what i read he didnt like the big Negh'Var class as too slow and bulky.
