  • In today's video I show you What I eat in a day, easy meals using the Starch Solution. The Starch Solution created by Dr. John Mcdougall is a starch based diet focusing on whole food plant based starches such as potatoes, rice and beans. Making your plate at each meal 50% starches and 50% non-starchy veggies. This way of eating was how I was able to lose those last 15 pounds. These easy meals leave you feeling satisfied and full.
    I have given you the link to these recipes videos and all the information you will need to try these easy starch solution meals. I hope you enjoy this What I eat in a day.

      I'm 64 and The starch solution is the only way of eating that has worked for me. I have been trying to lose the same 10 pounds forever. I started the Starch Solution in January and lost 15 pounds! It was easy and I got to eat a ton of food so I wasn't hungry at all. I know it sound counterintuitive to eat this way but it really does work. I would give it a try for sure. I do recommend you get the book so you can learn the science behind it and it will make a lot more sense. Good luck to you and thanks for your comment.

    I am reading the book and wonder why I can’t use olive oil ? And what oil should I use thanks. You have great videos and great teacher

    • @ChewonVegan
      @ChewonVegan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The reason Dr. Mcdougall doesn't recommend using oil is because it is the most calorie dense food on the planet. 4000 calories per pound compared to non starchy veggies which are about 100 calories per pound.. So if you are trying to lose weight stay away from oil. You do not need oil in your diet. I use water or veggie broth to saute my veggies. You can get your healthy fats with avocado, nuts and seeds. But I use them sparingly because if I eat too much I will gain weight Keep reading the book and it will all makes sense. I am so glad you are liking my videos. Thank you for your question.

      Well, that is a big topic and one I can't really answer in a few sentences. I will say that you need to be eating low on the calorie density scale. Foods under 600 calories per pound. So no nut butters, nuts, oil etc. Stick with whole food plant based foods no oil. Make sure you are using the 50/50 plate method.1/2 your plate fill with non starch veg and the other half whole starches like potatoes. If you are really struggling check out my digital course that will give you a step by step plan to finally lose the weight and get healthy. Here is the link for you to check out. I am not sure why some folks are trying to steer you away from starches. Starches are the center of my diet. I eat tons of whole food plant based starches, like potatoes, rice and sweet potatoes. But you need to eliminate oils and processed foods. In his book The Starch Solution Dr. Mcdougall explains why it's okay to eat starches. He does a much better job than I do. Keep reading and learning and you will start to understand it. It's so foreign to what we have been taught our whole lives. Good luck to you

    Great video! I’m beginning the starch solution; about 2 weeks in. Question- do you count your calories? I’ve been tracking mine and some days I’m right around 1350-1450 and other days, I’m so full that I barely go over 1000 calories. Is that normal?

    • @ChewonVegan
      @ChewonVegan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't count calories at all. I make sure the foods I am eating are 600 calories per pound orless and I eat till I am comfortably fool. example non starchy veggies are 100 calories per pound, fruit is 200-300 per pound , potatoes, corn, oats is 400 calories per pound, whole grains 500 per pound, beans legumes 600 per pound. You get the idea, so those are the foods I eat as much as I want till I am comfortably fool. Try not to complicate it. It is very simple once you get the hang of it. It is definitely a mind shift from what we have been told our whole lives. You will get it, just hang in there.

      @@cendril2 4 weeks isn't that long but if you stick to potatoes and veggies and oatmeal you will lose weight. Just keep it simple.. It takes time for your body to adjust to this new way of eating. My weight loss was very slow and I didn't lose any weight my first month either. I was just trying to get the hang of it. Stick with it. I would give it a good six months of being consistent and you will see results. The internet is full of conflicting advice about what you should be eating. Everybody is different and what is good for one may not be good for another. If you are diabetic or pre-diabetic, this type of diet is not for you. Trust your blood sugar monitor and avoid foods that make it spike. Work with your doctor and a good diabetes nutritionist to develop a good plan that meets your own needs. Good luck.
