I've seen this apartment before, but I watched again because it's one of the better makeovers I've seen, especially by an amateur decorator. It's a pretty spacious one bedroom - bigger than my sister's place in Hollywood that costs about the same, so it seems like a decent deal to me in a high-end market. That foyer makes all the difference, I think. I love the eclectic mix of styles in this home. Everything works together so seamlessly to create a sense of the the couple's unique aesthetic.

If it’s rent stabilized then it won’t increase much since the increases are regulated. Given it’s a pre war in the UWS it very likely might be rent stabilized which means they got a great deal that can only be increased a certain % each year.

I left my UWS apartment 2/2016. 1 bedroom walk up in a beautiful brownstone. It was on the 4th floor. It was 2,400 and when we left it went to 3,500! I heard people were getting insane deals during covid but my apartment was only 430 square feet. In the 80’s between CPW & Columbus. Absolutely Beautiful.

Honestly I’m calling BS on a lot. 😂 the price, a cheap Italian dinning table that the person was also willing to drive down from upstate 🙄. So much doesn’t sit right with me in this video. That place looked massive. It had to be rent stabilized and they have to be subletting.

I’d be worried how much VOC the stick-on moldings are emitting. Health should come first but I do understand. I’ve made similar decisions decorating in the past- it’s hard to think about the toxic gases from PU and PVC moldings, when they can so drastically level-up a room’s decor.
Btw I have yet to see an environmentalist influencer talk about the toxic manufacturing process involved in these foam decor accents, or of the very real dangers of indoor pollution. On the contrary, they have even become the primary advertisers of such “decorating hacks.” Gorgeous vinyl wallpaper, pvc plants, pvc brick walls, beautiful pvc shower curtains. We so desperately need the cause of sudden onset aggressive cancer to be something ugly not something beautiful, and even democratizing.
At the very least this couple should have the amount of VOC in their bedroom calculated by a professional not connected to a plastics manufacturer. How much gas are you inhaling while you sleep, etc. It’s better to know exactly then decide if the amount is at a safe level or not.

Think you got ripped off paying that much for a small apartment. You are better off renting a small room and invest the rest of the money in an index fund or a down payment for a house. If you are renting an apartment like that, you are just throwing money away and making some else rich. I used to rent also but realize I was just wasting money. I work in tech and I bought my house in late 2019 for 800K. Now it is worth $1.2M. House was old and needed some repairs but I learned to fix a lot of it myself by watching how-to videos on TH-cam. The best investment I every made was buying a house in San Jose. No apartment living will ever beat having a full front yard , garage, and back yard along with a driveway and your own property separated by a fence. I was able to put down 20 percent down for my house by living really cheap and investing in Vanguard index funds. Good luck to you.

Your nonsense about the client was just awful. This is about apartments not the Environment. If you want to look at negative reviews environmental Impact, look at the oil fields in Nigeria, and then look at Nigeria’s pollution problem and then go over to Guatemala and look at their pollution problem. It’ll make a normal person cry. I’m not sure if you fall into that category. When there are global Summit‘s in Europe about negative climate change, all the countries that go, they all flying private jets, burning massive amounts of fossil fuel. These people who are promoting negative climate change, are not flying on commercial airlines with a 400 other people. They’re flying with themselves and their staff of maybe 20. And burning through massive amounts of fuel. If they really cared about the environment, they could have a zoom call. They could have a regional world climate change meetings. So one climate change meeting per continent. For North America it could be US for the US and Canada. For Central America could be Mexico for all the other countries to. In South America it could be Brazil or Argentina for their environmental climate change meeting. And then for Asia it could be China. Etc., I think you get the point. They don’t really care about climate change. It’s just to get people worked up and control people, like you. Everyone needs to do their part sure. But not to get so worked up about this climate change is just absolutely funny and ridiculous. New York has had many blackouts. Because it’s put an emphasis on green energy. And green energy cannot support the grid as it needs to be both green energy and fossil fuels and then you will not get blackouts. And that is also true for California where I live.

It's so wild and amazing to see what you are allowed to do to a rental in the US. Here in Australia we aren't allowed to do anything, not even hang pictures sometimes let alone painting and semi renovating!

As long as you put it back the way it was the first day you moved in, it'd be OK but definitely no structural changes allowed. Otherwise, the landlord would use any excuse to keep the deposit.

You can do that in Sydney, so long as you revert back to the original. So change the light fixtures, just keep the old ones to put back. I'm also sure the gallery wall are not drilled into brick.

America land of the FREE, but just like any rental place you sign a contract that you will leave it as you recieved it or you lose deposit.
