- The BTL-B Y-Wing was a variant of the Y-Wing starfighter in use by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars.
The BTL-B model had a full covering of both the primary fuselage and engines. A bubble-turret provided clear view for the gunner, utilizing two light ion cannons for defense against enemy starfighters.
The BTL-B was designed as a bomber, using such weapons as proton bombs and proton torpedoes. It also was equipped with two medium laser cannons mounted on the front of the starfighter.
They possessed a hyperdrive system allowing them to jump into hyperspace without the reliance on a carrier or hyperspace ring. To aid them in their operations, they also made use of an astromech droid. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน

Planning to eventually do a giant compilation of every Y-Wing scene I can find, so drop a comment if I missed any scenes from Clone Wars so I know to go find the footage for that scene. Thanks!

You have a few scenes replayed a few times, is that intentional ?
And also you forgot about the y-wings in the geonosis battle episode.
I'll have to go rewatch that episode then, but now that I think of it some Y-Wings did show up to provide close air support at one point. I've also found I missed a couple bits from the Malevolence attack, and fixed an issue I had with that last few scenes here not showing up in optimal video quality.

Like how the BTL-B and A4 are canonically the same ship/model because it’s cool that the Rebels salvaged Clone Wars ships like the Y-wing and stripping the paneling off and heavily modifying the Y-wing to become a part of the Rebellion.

Especially considering R2 also flew with Luke, who Vader also had a hard time dealing with.
There was a small battle that happened in Canon after Episode 4, where Vader took on and destroyed Squadrons of Rebels. Only for Luke to fly in and ram his ship into Vader's, causing both of them to crash down to the planet. Just goes to show Anakin, R2, and Luke are some crazy skilled pilots.

I actually missed that in the show, but later I got this Star Wars paper airplane book and something looked off about the Y-wing in that book. I went back to the show and saw that low and behold, Anakin’ was different.

Ah the good old y wings. My favorite ship in the star wars universe. Only thing i hate is how the video games, movies, and shows contradict each other... in the video games they are slow, heavily armored and have good shields, and true to it you can take so much damage and be perfectly fine. But in the shows and movies they are as fast as the fighters and get taken down with like one or two hits... make up your mind star wars.... :/

Everything in Star Wars is Plot Driven. Ships are as fast as the Plot needs them to be. They are as tough (or weak) as the Plot needs them to be. They can do whatever the Plot needs them to do to advance to the next scene, the next episode. Holdo Maneuver? Sure, why not. Hyperspace Skipping? Sounds great! Just like the Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon Saturday Matinee Serials of the 30's/40's/50's. Kill the Bad Guy and thwart his Evil Super-Weapon? Don't worry, he'll be back (the Studio owns the Actor's contract and WILL re-use him!) next week somehow, and his Evil Super Weapon is now TWICE as big and powerful as the old one The Heroes destroyed last episode.
I always took it as fighters going slower than they can so that their bombers don't fall behind. When they want to, they tend to catch up to bombers.
For a bomber suppose to have heavy-shields it gets shot down really quick

Christian Torres dude, Y-wings are a huge threat to large ships due to their high proton + ion torpedo and proton bomb capacity. They are high-priority targets for the Empire.

I like the idea of the Y-Wing making a siren when it dives. I recall hearing it in one episode when Y-wings dive bomb Geonosian artillery as well
The Y-Wing is actually based off the likes of the Ju-87, The Ju-88, the Gloster Mosquito and many similar WWII-era "Dogfighting" bombers...
So it's really not surprising to hear a Ju-87 "Jericho Trumpet" as a Sfx.
I always had a problem when they show Y-wing squadrons going out on their own. Sure the Y-wing is tough and has a lot of firepower but it isn't a good dogfighter, so generally they pair them up with assualt or interceptor fighters to keep enemy fighters off them while the Y-wings pound their targets (capital ships, facilities, etc). Sending them without some sort of escort fighters means they'll take extra casualties when they have to dogfight and will have fewer torpedoes to use against their target.
And Anakin flies one and ends up shooting down Gold Squadron. Maybe having flown a variant before let him track them better, get the drop on them easier.

Y - Wings are awesome and all, but for agresive fighter - bomber tactics, the ARC-170 would've been a better choice just based on how well rounded it was against fighters and capital ships
I don't understand this fanaticism over Arc 170, Y wing is a much better Assault Fighter, that's exactly why the rebels used them so much and not Arc-170.
ARC-170 is an adaptation of the P-61. It is a long-range heavy fighter with some small bombing capability. It excels in shooting down bombers and using its sensor suite for reconnaissance (since night fighting isn't a thing in space). The Y-wing is a more specialized tactical bomber. It fills a role similar to the TBF Avenger.

Dan Conti Y-wings required heavy mainenance post-battle. Rebel engineers got tired of constantly taking off the plates that they eventually left them off for good. Nevertheless, the Rebel Y-wing was still a sturdy bomber.

They should have used the ORIGINAL Y-wing in this series, after all the A model comes before the B.
They did used the ORIGINAL Y-Wing, it was the armored Clone Wars BTL-B Y-Wing before they all became panel-less and heavily modified into the BTL-A4’s the Rebellion uses.
