  • I like to share some leading medical edge information to help you stop snoring and live a healthier life. #snoring #sleepapnea #drmandell
Snoring is the hoarse or harsh sound that occurs when air flows past relaxed tissues in your throat, causing the tissues to vibrate as you breathe. Nearly everyone snores now and then, but for some people it can be a chronic problem. Sometimes it may also indicate a serious health condition. In addition, snoring can be a nuisance to your partner.

Almost my entire family suffers from sleep apnea. In my case it was getting worse and worse, and I was waking up so tired. I read an article about how inflammation can be a major cause. So I decided to find out. I immediately cut out all inflammatory food and drink including - alcohol, sugar, grains, refined food and ate a strict whole food diet and exercised daily. Two months later I stopped snoring, and began sleeping through the night. It's a miracle, my wife is very happy.

I don't drink alcohol. I am not overweight. I have no pets. I drink water all day long. Out of the blue I have gotten sleep apnea. I am older and this seems to make humans more susceptible to issues. Getting old is the flaw in the master plan.

I was always a stomach sleeper, but I found out it causes more facial wrinkles, and sags under the chin. I am 80, and I don't snore anymore since I lost 30 pounds. Thank you for the information.

Snoring happens when air cannot flow freely through the airway as you breathe in and out during sleep. When the airway is narrowed or partially blocked, breathing causes the tissues of the upper airway to vibrate, resulting in the sound you hear when someone snores.👍

Losing weight is absolutely helpful for sleep apnea. I lost 60 lbs and I was able to ditch the cpap!! 😃

      Really how long ago please

    • @astridlove2327
      @astridlove2327 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@memeaw76 I was prescribed my cpap in 2020. I started losing weight almost immediately. There were many factors involved. I am 5’1 and always had been a petite person. Until after my 3rd daughter was born, I had a hysterectomy and I was on prescriptions medications for depression and anxiety. My weight increased drastically. When I was put on my Cpap, I was well over 200lbs. I started more holistic approach to address everything that was contributing. I started managing my stress better and I transitioned off of prescription meds and started supplementing. I reduced my sugar intake dramatically. Starting the cpap helped a lot too bc it is a vicious cycle. Losing weight helps sleep apnea but sleep apnea causes weight gain so I had to be consistent with the machine. I used it for about 6 months before I lost enough weight to where I didn’t need it anymore. From 2020-2022 I did lose 60 lbs but then I hit a plateau for almost a year and was able to maintain what I lost but I couldn’t lost anymore. Starting in August of this year 2023. I started learning a lot more about intermittent fasting and reducing carbs. So I have taken this approach and have lost another 16lbs since August. So since 2020 I have lost a total of 76 lbs. only 30 more to go to get to my goal weight 👏🏻 my sleep has improved so much!! I do still snore sometimes but not nearly as bad or in the same way I did with sleep apnea . I used mouth tape to train myself to sleep with my mouth closed and that makes a big difference too. I have not had to return to using my cpap machine since that initial weight loss after only about 6 months of being on it 👍🏻

Doesn't mean you are not snoring.
Snoring is sleep apnea, it's a deadly conditions. If it gets out of hand, it can make you snore to death, meaning you stop breathing. Also, over time, if left unchecked, you can get high blood pressure and cause organ damage, heart disease, kidney failure and liver damage and other issues from the high blood pressure. More than likely a stroke will be the first thing to hit from the high blood pressure.

I snore and yes I have sleep apnea too, but even when I’m sleeping on my side, I could hear myself snore. CPAP machine dries your throat and mouth so you wake up coughing of dry mouth. I keep a bottle of water on my bed so when I wake up at night coughing and dry mouth I start sipping water to keep my throat hydrated.

I ha pectus excavatum. Sleeping on my side is difficult because I have square shoulders and now have a hurting shoulder. Laying on my front is uncomfortable because of my sunken chest. I also have a bent septum. I don't feel like I get enough oxygen and have poor sleep. Any advice?

literally want to cry hard tears and separate from spouse bc it sounds like its a high pitched dragon in his throat. He wakes up refreshed and I feel like heading down to the courthouse. It’s torture Doc. I’ll suggest the water before sleep, or cervical pillow.maybe that’ll help.
    Thank you sweetheart

Sleeping on my left side changed my facial features because I accidentally mewed on that side from the weight of my tongue but I wasn't mewing on the other. I have tmj pain on that side as well. If I mew on both sides when I sleep on my back I don't snore.

@@jamesmondok8635 yea. It's like a "U" cushion for traveling sleeping. Although, I can see the idea, but won't this just end up choking you? I believe getting that pillow is a better idea for bsck sleeper.

You are great Dr. M. I am not over weight but try to lose more weight. Even I had the surgery and the surgeon brought all he tissues from y throat. But just one night I did not have snoring after recovery. I have snoring again. Less but annoying me. I have sinusitis and reflex. I have controlled the., however all the time I feel stuck in my throat all the time. What can I do? I AM REALLY TIRED

Try taking apple cider vinegar pills esp. before bed and with each meal. It will keep the reflux from affecting your sleep and it will help your throat.

Also if you look at the documentary called heal for free and also videos from Dr Laura Koniver, grounding or earthing can help and support inflammation reduction and sleeping as well. As a testimonial I know it has helped me.

I sleep on my back. Had problems sleeping on my side. I watched a video that said sleep on your back to avoid wrinkles. That’s been a few years.
