I don't drink alcohol. I am not overweight. I have no pets. I drink water all day long. Out of the blue I have gotten sleep apnea. I am older and this seems to make humans more susceptible to issues. Getting old is the flaw in the master plan.
Almost my entire family suffers from sleep apnea. In my case it was getting worse and worse, and I was waking up so tired. I read an article about how inflammation can be a major cause. So I decided to find out. I immediately cut out all inflammatory food and drink including - alcohol, sugar, grains, refined food and ate a strict whole food diet and exercised daily. Two months later I stopped snoring, and began sleeping through the night. It's a miracle, my wife is very happy.

I was always a stomach sleeper, but I found out it causes more facial wrinkles, and sags under the chin. I am 80, and I don't snore anymore since I lost 30 pounds. Thank you for the information.
I recently watched one of your video's on Vitamin D to stop snoring. Well it has turned my snoring into a low rumble rather than a violent thunderstorm. Thank you and my wife thanks you even more.
Snoring happens when air cannot flow freely through the airway as you breathe in and out during sleep. When the airway is narrowed or partially blocked, breathing causes the tissues of the upper airway to vibrate, resulting in the sound you hear when someone snores.👍
Swollen adenoids blocking nasal passages.. and obviously sleeping on your back doesnt help at all!! That's a difficult thing to change!! Thanks for the info and the video!!
You're doing Gods work doc, I have to tell you. I was waking up with a headache and feeling sluggish, not getting enough sleep for a while now..It was terible. @@memeaw76 I was prescribed my cpap in 2020. I started losing weight almost immediately. There were many factors involved. I am 5’1 and always had been a petite person. Until after my 3rd daughter was born, I had a hysterectomy and I was on prescriptions medications for depression and anxiety. My weight increased drastically. When I was put on my Cpap, I was well over 200lbs. I started more holistic approach to address everything that was contributing. I started managing my stress better and I transitioned off of prescription meds and started supplementing. I reduced my sugar intake dramatically. Starting the cpap helped a lot too bc it is a vicious cycle. Losing weight helps sleep apnea but sleep apnea causes weight gain so I had to be consistent with the machine. I used it for about 6 months before I lost enough weight to where I didn’t need it anymore. From 2020-2022 I did lose 60 lbs but then I hit a plateau for almost a year and was able to maintain what I lost but I couldn’t lost anymore. Starting in August of this year 2023. I started learning a lot more about intermittent fasting and reducing carbs. So I have taken this approach and have lost another 16lbs since August. So since 2020 I have lost a total of 76 lbs. only 30 more to go to get to my goal weight 👏🏻 my sleep has improved so much!! I do still snore sometimes but not nearly as bad or in the same way I did with sleep apnea . I used mouth tape to train myself to sleep with my mouth closed and that makes a big difference too. I have not had to return to using my cpap machine since that initial weight loss after only about 6 months of being on it 👍🏻
My husband was checked 20 year's ago, and during the sleep study, he didn't breath for 3 minutes at a time! So, he now uses a machine, and does not fall asleep while driving! Thank you! 🙏🏼♥️🕯

Dr. Mandell - Thank you for sharing the info and the video. You are right! Whenever I don't wear the mask at night, I got headaches during my sleep. I'll try to follow your advice to lose weights so I don't have to wear the mask any more.
This is weird but I noticed my husband stopped snoring and jumping out of his sleep in a panic every night when he started taking vit d regularly. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. He snores and jumped out of sleep for years, then suddenly once he started d3, it stopped completely
Interesting. I read that vitamin D deficiency (lack of sunlight exposure) causes swollen adenoids. And that may have been blocking his breathing passage. Thanks for sharing!
DR, ive been following you for quite some time, its my fault i haven't been able to lose my bipap machine. Im still smoking a little and should lose 30 lbs. Please don't stop the advice.
I snore and yes I have sleep apnea too, but even when I’m sleeping on my side, I could hear myself snore. CPAP machine dries your throat and mouth so you wake up coughing of dry mouth. Doesn't mean you are not snoring. Snoring is sleep apnea, it's a deadly conditions. If it gets out of hand, it can make you snore to death, meaning you stop breathing. Also, over time, if left unchecked, you can get high blood pressure and cause organ damage, heart disease, kidney failure and liver damage and other issues from the high blood pressure. Do you have any videos to show what points to press to help lose weight? I met somebody once who would press some nerve or something on her ear, and it would helped her a lot... but I am not in touch with that person to find out details.
I don't snore and my lady friends from past relationships were very appreciative of that. However, some of them did snore and it was an issue/dealbreaker for me.
I have apnea. Recently diagnosed. Only using the machine 2 months but I'm more exhausted and more headaches than ever. Why does it seem like these machines are a life long prison sentence? Why don't doctors tell us how to get off the machines? Dr Mandell tells us natural remedies for health. Dr. Mandell, besides weight loss, what else can I do to eventually be done with this machine?
Loose weight is what all doctors recommend first. Change your lifestyle, food and exercise. If you have sleep apnea, you probably have high blood pressure. Docotor will suggest to get a sleep test to see what level you are at. However, exercise is the main key. Take 30 mins walk as a starter each day. Then work up to cardio. This will build your breathing rhythm and exercise the loose flap behind your throat and help loose some fat there. Then your breathe way will be wider and less likely snoring. Over time, your sleep apnea will go away.
I went to ENT because I snore and the dr said I have a deviated septum which could make he noise. Recommended to have surgery . I declined I also had a sleep apnea test and it came out negative. Will are these pointers and see if I can reduce the snoring hopefully get rid of it
You are great Dr. M. I am not over weight but try to lose more weight. Even I had the surgery and the surgeon brought all he tissues from y throat. But just one night I did not have snoring after recovery. I have snoring again. Less but annoying me. I have sinusitis and reflex. I have controlled the., however all the time I feel stuck in my throat all the time. What can I do? I AM REALLY TIRED
Try taking apple cider vinegar pills esp. before bed and with each meal. It will keep the reflux from affecting your sleep and it will help your throat.
I have allergies from dust mites and animal dander. i don't have adanoides (spell?) ,I snore more when I am tired, I don't sleep well for various reasons but I am not classed as overweight. I really want to stop snoring :-(, I also have a special pillow for my neck pain
Also if you look at the documentary called heal for free and also videos from Dr Laura Koniver, grounding or earthing can help and support inflammation reduction and sleeping as well. As a testimonial I know it has helped me.
I only have stated to snore the last year possibly two. And I’m confused as all doctors and chiropractor’s say sleeping on your back is the best for your body?
@kylethedalek They probably say sleeping on your back is best, because it's the best position for your spine. But they're not thinking about snoring, breathing etc. So if you can sleep on your side and keep your spine straight, that would be best.
If you saw the whole video. Sleeping on your back with a special pillow to tilt your chin up, which open your airway will be good for bsck sleeper. Think of the procedure when one does cpr. You tilt the person chin up while they are on the bsck before you blow air in. So, yea, doctor has some logic with this one.
If you sleep with a pillow under your head it brings the chin down and causes snoring and decreased oxygen if you are prone to that. Roll up a towel jelly roll style and place it behind your neck instead. Or if you must use a pillow, pull it down farther so it’s not only is under your head and neck, but your shoulder blades too, as you would if you have chest congestion.
I have been loosing weight but still.snores. I feel bad for my boyfriend he has to deal with my snoring. My ex husband complained abt it before. I will try the mouth guard ❤ and the cervical pillow

Probably but not for people with snoring problems...
@kylethedalek
They probably say sleeping on your back is best, because it's the best position for your spine.
Z Quiet does not work. Bought it tried it many times. Did not stop my snoring.
I have been loosing weight but still.snores. I feel bad for my boyfriend he has to deal with my snoring. My ex husband complained abt it before. I will try the mouth guard ❤ and the cervical pillow
