    This is a great video!! I cured my severe sleep apnea and I come from a long family line of sleep apnea sufferers. Here's how I did it. I cut out all inflammatory foods and started exercising every day. I quit sugar, alcohol, refined foods and only ate a whole food diet (no snacking). After around three months my weight returned to normal and no sleep apnea. Today I no longer wake up choking and gasping for air in the middle of the night. My sleep is now long and deep, and I rarely even snore. An example of what I eat on a whole food diet is - mashed boiled egg and avocado, salmon with side of salsa salad followed by greek yoghurt with sliced fruit. I cut out all pasta and baked goods - bread, cookies, crackers, cake, donuts, bagels and all packaged foods with added sugar. I am cured and wake up feeling so well. I walk every day, I gym 4 times a week. Life is good!!

    I had sleep apnea since my late teens, and I raced bicycles! Thin as a stick too. I woke up from surgery and noticed that my O2 saturation was 72%! 🤯
    I found a doctor that prescribed a cpap machine (after TWO sleep studies), life got better quickly. I quit drinking milk 1 month ago and started drinking ACV. I'm losing the weight that I gained after several injuries, and my acid reflux is GONE. Praise the Lord Jesus!

It has to be about three years since I last did this, but last night I slept for 5 hrs and 30 mins with just one waking up for a split second and then went straight back to sleep. Pls understand I only sleep at a max of 4 hrs (and that is good for me) without waking up. Normally between 3-4 hrs and then after that it's even more broken. But last night I slept for 5 hrs and 30 mins, I am stunned and I had to come straight here and express that. I am SO grateful. I don't know if it was the salt gargle but it would be a coincidence if it wasn't. I'm going back to sleep now for a couple of hours but I'm just so grateful to Motivational Doc and for this video. God bless us all. 🙏

    I am 63, when i was in my early 20's i had this sleep apnea problem. It scared me because i was a back sleeper and i learned to sleep on my side, that made it safe for me to sleep. Forty years ago I didn't know what sleep apnea was. I will still lose the weight and follow these tips.😊

    There's a homesteader on YT who had severe GERD and she said docs said they were concerned about her survival as it was that bad. She stopped eating all refined/processed foods and went all organic with most of her food coming from her own garden. Her acid completely went away and she can even eat tomatoes/tomato products from her garden without incident. Very encouraging personally as I've had GERD almost all of my life- even when I wasn't overweight and had no sleep apnea. Our food has a huge impact.

    Brilliant! Dr did sleep study and wanted to put me on CPAP. I sensed it had to do with my throat getting "congested" after several hours sleeping. Eventually went to a Naturopath who said it could be silent reflux. I used a slightly higher pillow and worked on digestive issues, and I don't think I'm having apnea episodes in wee hours anymore. Thanks for the helpful video!

    • @lorim5235
      @lorim5235 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@aimeekreutzer-malkawi I'd say within 1-2 months. I should add that the ND noted I had a hiatal hernia (which was a big cause of the silent reflux) so he fixed that. The other factor which caused a thick feeling in my throat (affecting apnea) was allergies, so I tried to avoid those foods, took a supplement the ND recommended for healing the gut, and also took enzymes (adding betaine hcl once we felt the reflux was no longer an issue) to aid digestion. So it was a multi-pronged approach.

    Here are some other tips: You might work on tightening the muscles that keep your mouth closed by holding a pen between your teeth for about 10 minutes before bedtime. If your jaw starts to ache, you can easily stop.
    You don’t want to do anything that is too much - this is a gradual process of training and retraining.
    And there are also other simple practices you can do throughout the day like singing in the shower or singing in the car.
    Singing can help increase the muscle control in the throat and soft palate and it’s simple and fun to do.
    Just put on your favourite music and sing to your heart's content.
    So now that you have learned some simple techniques to keep the good work going,
    Imagine yourself in your sleeping sanctuary or your bedroom once again. You might see yourself taking a warm bath, reading a book, getting ready for bed or pulling down the sheets. Sometimes these nighttime rituals can be very soothing and helpful.
    Now, as you climb into bed, you might smooth the sheets over your body. Go ahead and go through all the steps you would normally take before going to bed.
    You might try sleeping on your side or strapping a tennis ball to the bottom of your back to enforce sleeping on your side.
    And now just in case you want a few more tips, there are also some additional things you can try during your day.
    For example, some people find it helpful to place the length of their tongue to the roof of their mouth holding it there for as long as they can.
    You can repeat this simple practice 2-3 times a day.
    You might also purse your lips just like you were about to kiss someone slowly moving them up to the right and then up to the left repeating about 10 times.
    Gargling with water or placing your lips on a balloon and blowing it up can also be helpful.
    And if you really feel like having some fun, you can try opening your mouth as wide as possible and then saying ah in the back of the throat for about 20 seconds.
    Now while these exercises may seem simple - they can be highly effective when practised enough.

Some people will end up having the operation to trim excess flesh. Some might do it through weight loss. Or utilising the tips in this video…. All my friends did when we had sleep overs and Boy Scout camp. This includes girls too. Have a CPAP. Every time I've used it, I have gotten a horrible sinus infection-tried all cleaning methods, even a new mask right out of the wrapper-same thing & nothing gets any better. A vicious circle day after day. I've lost a total of 46 LBS in the last 6 months>lots of muscle mass. I've learned a lot from this that NONE of my Dr.s have picked up on. One thing that will actually help in the short term is a mouldable, adjustable mouth guard. Use it to move your lower jaw forward a small amount and it means the obstructions can’t happen.

      What specific brand and source of ‘moldable, adjustable mouth guard’ did you find so helpful?

    • @jamierothwell6789
      @jamierothwell6789 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@paulaanthis4031 Well, I think the mouldable ones are all very similar, but come under different Brant names. The first one I used was just through an Amazon search. I think it’s called something like Tranquility. They all seem to have very similar packaging too. Small white box with a bit of light blue.
      The instructions say to leave it in boiling water for 30 seconds, but this is incorrect. You need to boil water, pour into a cup and put the mouth guard in there for about 90 seconds. I used tongs to make sure it was fully submerged.
      Then, take it out and hold on to the hard plastic part and give it a shake for a few seconds. This cools down the outer so you don’t burn yourself. Put it into your mouth and rest it on your bottom teeth, then gently bite down until you come to a stop.
      The key here is to keep at still as possible for about 1 minute while it moulds to your teeth. It should feel really snug around them.
      After 1 minute open your mouth. It should come off one set of teeth. Then gently take it off the other set and put it in cold water. This sets it.
      Once set you can then take the two pieces apart and move the bottom jaw forward. Don’t do too much at once or you’ll end up with a sore jaw. Do it gradually over a few days so your jaw can get used to being in the new nighttime position.
      You need to wash it each evening but only with cold water and a toothbrush. Don’t use warm water.
      One thing to note… I bought my first from Amazon and it came with a note inside that said “free gift here” and a qr code. The free gift was ANOTHER mouth guard. So if it seems a bit expensive, you actually get 2.
      Honestly, it’s been life changing. It’s helped me lose weight too because I’m actually getting a good sleep. No more headaches from snoring either.

Now after dropping 50+ pounds, regular Vitamin D3, multi vitamins and salt water gargle..Some improvement, still lot's of damage done. Difficulty swallowing from esophagus scarring, teeth ruined from acid, heart arrhythmia condition for over 12 years. So the sleeping with back elevation, Apple cider vinegar, Magnesium and no eating 2 to 3 hours before bed. I'm adding these to my tool belt and at age 59+ and a warrior, hopefully I can live at least another decade with greater quality of life. Bipolar on top of these other things, but I'm grateful to live and learn. Thank you for your continued time and energy, I wish good health for you and all in this community. Keto is terrible long-term. Yes, you will lose a lot of weight on low carb, but you’re also affecting your body’s ability to tolerate carbs, which are essential. It’s not sustainable for the majority of people. When you start eating carbs again, you’ll not only gain all the weight back, but your blood sugar regulation will be worse than before. Most of the purported benefits of keto are purely a result of cutting out the majority of processed foods. The same “miracle” cures are reported with other restrictive diets. The key is to add more good foods such as fermented foods, the right herbs, etc. The more you add good foods, the less processed foods you crave. Much more effective long term, with the added bonus of not having the common drawbacks associated with restrictive diets. There are plenty of cultures (including all the blue zones where people live past 100) where people eat high carb diets and are extremely healthy. But they move a lot. They do a lot of walking. Lots and lots of walking. Daily walking and drinking enough water are the most effective things one can do for their health, but most people don’t want to do this.

    Hi Doc, I've had this for years and I've gone through all the sleep studies and CPAP machine that gave me painful air in my stomach in the morning. So I sleep a couple hours at a time and that's pretty much the best I can do. Thanks for bringing up this unknown subject that I only learned from experience. Your the best friend and doctor, thanks 🙏 🕊️

    • @michaelbattista1334
      @michaelbattista1334 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You have air in your stomach because your pressure is too high. Lower the pressure and make it very close numbers like 7 to 8. Lots of sleep doctors will start you with numbers like 5 to 20. Which is insane because the pressure will go up and then you will wake with a bloated stomach full of air. Happened to me. So I closed the gap. Went from 5 to 20 down to 8 to 9 then eventually 7 to 8. You need to find what pressure is right for you.

    I lived for years with undiagnosed sleep apnea. I would wake up choking in the night either from acid reflux or from just having to cough from waking before I could take in a breath again. My daughter who has Sickle Cell Disease slept beside me at night and would stay awake because she witnessed the times I would stop breathing and she would stay awake so she could stir me to take a breath. Sometimes when she couldn’t wake me she would run to her sister’s room to help wake me so I would take a breath. I didn’t know about sleep apnea at the time, and I wasn’t even aware that I snored back then. It wasn’t until I stayed in a hotel with my best friend and scared her to death one night when she witnessed me stop breathing and waited for me to take a breath. I remember her finally being able to wake me up and seeing the look of terror on her face. I was miserable for so many years with brain fog, depression, low thyroid, dizziness, etc. I finally got some relief when I saw a doctor and got a C-pap machine. I dealt with insomnia before then because I was afraid of dying in the night from either aspiration of food or just not being able to cough so I could take my next breath. My daughter was my biggest motivation to finally see a doctor because I never knew she was losing sleep watching over me, and with her condition, especially, that is dangerous, let alone that we all need a healthy amount of sleep. I still don’t feel like the C-pap is 100% effective though, and some days I still wake up feeling like I could do several more hours of sleep.

    I had acid reflux so bad, it was eating up my esophagus!! The doctor went in and put a rubber band around the bottom of my esophagus. He closed it up, 20%. I have to eat smaller bite and drink a sip or two of water now. Having a soft drink, with this band..that's not a good idea. Ice tea is fine. As long as it's not a fizzy drink. I no longer need my acid reflux medication. I had two hernia's fixed and while the doctor was inside of me.. he discovered my esophagus, looked mushy. He told me, if you
    get cancer in that now, before you heal up.. your done!! That gave me the chills. Acid reflux, should be taken very seriously! It can eat up your esophagus!

    Dr. Mandell, Thank you very much. I have been identified as having sleep apnea 2 years ago. I tried the bipap equipment and couldn't adapt to the pressure levels. So I have changed my sleeping position and i use breathe right strips. These helped my oxygen levels, but i still had acid reflux. After seeing this video, it's been a month now. I have cleaned up my diet cutting out sugar and white flour. I started drinking water with Apple Cider Vinegar with water before going to sleep to reduce my acid reflux. I have lost 10 lbs. I haven't taken an antacid since. I am amazed at the improvements. I sleep longer with better quality sleep. I have a samsung watch for monitoring my sleep showing constant sleep improvements. I am 55. Thank you very much Martin.
