Nice rifle. I did a cool old school Barnes X bullet 45-70 test on my channel if you wanna check it out then. Id like to see how those vortex loads do on a large deer or a black bear.
I have this exact rifle. Shot my first bear with it, it was dead before it hit the ground. Neck shot, exit wound was the size of a Christmas orange. Devastating.
Had one. Shot maybe 20 rounds out of it and the lever seized up. Never again will I buy a Marlin. So unfortunate because that gun was an absolute beaut and so fun.
They had a really bad run before ruger eventually bought out marlin. The old marlins were flawless, but for a number of years they made crap guns. I have a Marlin 44 magnum that will not ejected rounds even after sending it back twice. I understand your appreciation. Got this in late 2020 and it works perfectly. Also try Henry, they make awesome lever funs
@@LetsShootIt yeah I did some research after and realized that. Shame. I still have the Marlin 336 that my grandpa gave me though. Thing is absolutely solid.
You might be able to polish some of the lever parts to make it smoother. I did and it's like butter now. But yeah the ones made by Remington were pot luck. I got a sbl that was perfect. Bought a gbl to and a 336 that the front sights were way crooked. Sent the gbl back 3 times and gave up. The people at Remington were a joke about this.
As many firearms are produced in that caliber I'm surprised the ammunition is not cheaper in one thing I do when I purchase a firearm is to look at what the cost of ammunition is going to be
@@LetsShootIt so far I've got 2 trapdoor springfields, a gibbs 45-70 brit. Enfield No.1 Mk3, a H&R handy rifle & looking to get a siamese mauser in 45-70 back from a friend from a trade back in the 80s. It's gone back & forth between us for several years at a time ever since. This one is by far the strongest, u can load it to 458 mag levels. The 2 most costly were only $300ea.😊
@@LetsShootIt I live east of the Mississippi, there is nothing here that a 44mag can't handle. Don't get me wrong I would like the 45-70, but I'm a fan of getting revolver, carbine companion guns.
I have both 4570 and a 44 magnum 44 will easily take white tail deer within 100 yards the 4570 is good up to 200 yards with the right ammo with far greater penatration with the heavier ammo.
Beautiful, I love 45-70

I would love a lever gun, but it would have to be in .357 or .44 mag because i’m not spending like $45 on 20 rounds of 45-70.
I want one in 357 or 44 real bad. Do you know what make and model you want?

45-70 ammo is never cheap, even if you could find it. For me, I would settle for the 44mag.
44 mag out of a lever gun is more than enough for most game in America. It’s basically the same price for 50 rounds of 44 against 20 rounds of 45/70
@@LetsShootIt I live east of the Mississippi, there is nothing here that a 44mag can't handle. Don't get me wrong I would like the 45-70, but I'm a fan of getting revolver, carbine companion guns.

That’s a good question, I’d say it’s comparable to magnum buckshot or so hot 308
