    Hi Julia! Senior Shifter Chris here!
    One thing that I already do is Learn Something New Every day for 5 minutes. It may be on a website or TH-cam video, but I am usually always learning about something.
    The one thing that I have been procrastinating is cleaning my room! So, a double whamming there! I take 5 (or even more) minutes to tackle the thing I have been avoiding (Cleaning)
    Here are my notes:
    The less complicated you make it, the more likely it is that you're going to
    A: Do it.
    B: Keep doing it
    C: With that consistency, it's going to make the impact you're hoping for - to get happier.

    7 Things to make you happier:
    1. Taking 5 minutes to tackle the thing you are avoiding.
    2. To clean for 5 minutes.
    3. Move your body for 5 minutes.
    4. Learn something every day for 5 minutes.
    5. 5 minutes of meditation.
    6. Spend 5 minutes to plan your day the night before.
    7. Spend 5 minutes a day connecting with your future self.

    I can honestly say that your work has helped me get through some dark times. Specifically over the past 6 months. I’ve watched your let go of the past video probably 50 times. Every time I feel myself start to slip, I watch it. Thank you 🙏. I haven’t watched it in a while which let’s me know, I have finally let go.

    The thing I haven't done for months is write my list of everything pending to be done to straighten out my life. The other is to write my thank yous, and my diary to put in order my thoughts. I just won't sit down for ten minutes and do it!
    I am starting now!

    Hi Julia! I've been watching for years and recently bought your book. Your advice to look at your future self was a breakthrough for me -- I could see her moving through her day and realized that my dream is not only possible, but attainable, one step at a time, right now. Thank you so much for this perspective.

    Hey Julia! As a Shift Society alumni, I always enjoy coming back to your weekly videos and feeling a little reconnection ❤
    Things that work for me:
    1. 5 min (or more) of movement.
    2. Looking at the sky (clouds, moon, stars). It's kind of a mindfulness/meditative practice for me.
    3. Writing a short to-do list for the next day.
    Doing the 5 min tidy-up doesn't always work for me, because I usually get sucked into a guilt-ridden major clean up 😂😂

This morning this message inspired me to begin sorting the next decluttering box, got half of it sorted and donated to our local public library 📚 🎶 will set my mind to continue to declutter 5 min daily along with meditation and movement as habits

    Hi Julia - I've been at an all time low over the last three months.... just been hanging on in there. Only just. Without the support I've received, I dread to think..so, thanks must be given to my parents and a few dear friends, (one in particular who's come back into my life like an all-knowing angel)... but the additional progress I've been able to make this week, while being away on a much needed city break (Stockholm, v nice too), has been very much helped by your videos. So I thank you personally. You've helped me immensely.

    I love it. I got the 5 minutes of wasting time down and more.i could add 5 minutes of prayer and gratitude, or bible reading, 5 minutes of Journaling.
    I need to do cleaning of 5 minutes ASAP as routine.
    5 minutes with spouse and kids is important to just listen to them and say something positive. 5 minutes is a great idea to start and get a routine of a lot of good habits.

    You gave advice that if you know someone doesn’t handle feedback well let it go. It really helped in a situation I had 2 weeks ago for my own sake and the stress I would have gone through if I brought it up. So I let it go and our relationship is ok. Thank you love your videos

    I take more than 5 minutes. But, i have a certain time almost every night that I read my Bible and study. Also read devotionals. I say almost every night because sometimes I don’t feel well and just want to go to sleep. I find studying the Bible calms me and helps my depression and anxiety.

    The entire list! I'm a 1000% person or 0% person so, by breaking this down to 5 minutes a day, I can do it and make a habit of it. The list the night before will be my biggest challenge as I tend to make a list that's nearly impossible to complete in a day, I'll start small😉

    Ah yes the wee morning cleaning sessions are simply second to none. One minute all of the clutter loose ends are hanging around like cob webs in a dungeon, 15 min afterwards the angelic choir is singing, golden rays of light are beaming brightly, diamond flakes are floating around the reflection on the crisp floor…. the universe is in order, save only for the empty Clorox bottle knocked over , and of that, I precisely heal toe it off the wall and in to the can as I walk out of the room with a job well done

    • @Dezzyyx
      @Dezzyyx ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's some poetry right there, and made me laugh out loud because that describes the before and after feelings so well 😂 damn near motivating me to clean as I'm reminded of the angelic choir that shows up when I'm done

  • @elin_
    @elin_ ปีที่แล้ว

    What I already do:
    - I clean one day per week (and do my laundry), so I don't have to clean every day.. well.. except from doing the dishes. That, I have to do more than once in a week because I have no dishwasher. I like keeping it decently tidy in my home.
    - I walk every day, because I have a dog.
    What I need to start doing more:
    - Learning something new every day.
    - Be more grounded. I've come to find out that I'm quite in the moment when I'm feeding the wild birds in my backyard.
    - Move more. More exercise than just the walks. I'm fat and I need to lose weight.. but the motivation and will-power isn't there..

    I struggle with finding any happiness period. I can’t ever feel it. I am always writing poems, making picture frames and custom sports cards. These things bring a sense of accomplishment for a few minutes and that’s it. I am in good health, financially stable, no stressful situations and have good people around me. I am thankful and content, but all of this feels so meaningless to me. Life is so dissatisfying and I can’t figure out why. My therapist says it’s depression, we are both struggling to figure out how to turn it around.

      @kirstenvzumba9246 ปีที่แล้ว

      😢 I'm sorry that you're feeling this way. And I'm glad to hear that you're seeing a therapist. Depression sucks, I know! The things that help me the most are human connection, engaging in physical activity that requires full attention (dancing for me!), learning about and practicing self-acceptance and self-compassion. Game changers for me, someone who has struggled with depression for all of my adult life.. ❤❤❤🙏❤❤ I wish you the best
