Testing out a Toshiba 20" CRT TV with VCR and DVD Combo (CRT ASMR 4K)

- I recently bought this Toshiba CRT TV at an estate sale for $35. It's fully loaded with a working VCR and DVD player. I love this thing.
Model No. MW20FP1 from Toshiba.
I do a full test on camera with the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the DVD player and the TMNT sequel on VHS in the VCR. I also plug into the RCA input to play a round of Mario Kart 64 on the Nintendo 64.
This was a fun set up - I filmed it at my desk with some of my retro collection behind the TV.
I have about 10 CRTs now and I have a few more I really want to film. Up next will probably be the Sylvania 13" TV that I cameoed in this video that's directly behind the Toshiba (displaying Mario Kart at the beginning). That's one of my favorite that I've found so far.

I think I spent half my time playing Halo Reach on a CRT, I somewhat miss that experience
That's neat. It's just a different vibe going on when playing on a classic CRT.
@@JaWayneAbsolutely, I’ve played PS2 on this exact model at my Grandmas. Not the oldest but Jak and Daxter will always be my comfort game
@@AstroLoops69 I remember that one being fun. I'll have to find that game again, it's been too long!
your room is so aesthetic, i love it
Glad you like it!!
I'm so impressed by the image quality on that Toshiba.
Yeah that thing is lovely.
YES! THIS CRT TV is Perfect for Both Retro Gaming AND MOVIES! cause they're Built in! ⭐✨✌️🤩
Yeah this one is an awesome one to find. It's an all-in-one and displays beautifully!
@@JaWayne Agreeing 100%!
@@JaWayneAgreed
These things look so useful frrr 😄
SUPER useful!
im picking up a 27in Toshiba vhs/dvd combo tomorrow from facebook marketplace i cant wait to pick it up
Damn, that's awesome! That is a good hefty size and will look nice to display VHS/games, etc. What are you going to use it for?
hey i got the tv im using it for my n64 with the s video hook up and my playstation 2 with component hooked up. they both look fantastic. and since it has the vhs/dvd combo ive been building my movie collection up. @@JaWayne
That's super awesome. I need to try out S Video and Component, I really haven't messed with that yet.
Wow!! That is an awesome collection and nice set-up. I actually had the exact same 13” Sylvania set. It had a beautiful picture. I ended up selling it just because I prefer 20”-32” CRTs in my gaming set-up, but those smaller ones are perfect if you sit at a desk or table and are pretty close to the screen. Great job!
That's awesome! And thanks for watching, it was fun to make. And I agree, I love having it on that shelf and sometimes I move it onto the desk and play games there. Trying to perfect my set up! I'll probably shoot the Sylvania either on that desk or in another section of the room that has a bunch of VHS lining the walls.
I tried out my grandparents VCR/DVD combo and I thought I must have broken the machine because it didn’t eject the tape, but my grandma had taken it out while I was bust and didn’t turn off the combo.
But when it played The Visitors VHS, it was glitching and it crashed and ate the tape. Even displayed a light green light on the tele afterwards, but it was fixed luckily.
Oh wow, that's scary haha - I love when they work, it's an amazing feeling. And when they don't work correctly, it's scary to even put a tape in. You don't want to risk it!
@@JaWayne Like for real I was even scared to turn on the machine 😭
@@DaisyPoofa haha that's too funny
Non HDMI consoles aren't the only thing that are best enjoyed on a CRT. DVDs, VHS tapes and anything like that should be watched on a CRT display. I haven't watched VHS tapes in about 12/13 years but they do look fantastic on those displays. I personally have a Philips 28PW5407/05 and a Pacific PDVTV14100-C both have RGB SCART and Composite with stereo audio, Philips has an additional SCART port which is S-Video quality. Both are curved CRTs while the Philips is a widescreen CRT display. Out of all the CRTs I have had in my life the Philips is my personal favourite CRT, I've had 3 CRTs in my life so far the one I haven't mentioned is a Blue Grundig that was my childhood one that died in 2012 whilst I was watching a Tom and Jerry DVD on it, it was older than me
I've never heard of a blue grundig - it sounds neat. And you're right, we play a lot of VHS on our CRTs - we play movies every night in the background while we work. It's cozy and it's fun to play through all of our tapes. I do play games every now and then but only N64 and SNES for now. It's a fun hobby.
@@JaWayne probably a European exclusive? I'm not too sure, I found possibly the same model number as that on eBay a while ago didn't buy it though.
That's neat. Fun to find out about new stuff.
@@JaWayneit's also nice to see a CRT video showing a DVD being played not just VHS tapes
@@JaWayneI bought the Blu-Ray version of the Teenage Mutant 1990s trilogy a week ago arrived Wednesday afternoon
Summoning Salt vibes from the music at 1:10 🙂 lol
That's awesome, thanks for watching! 🔥
Exelente colección de televisores y juegos retro 🧐👌
Awesome, thank you - glad you like them!
@@JaWayne espero tener algún día mi cuarto de juegos así saludos
@@JaWayne How can I connect a Nintendo Switch or TV Box and have it come out with color?
Wow my grandpa have one in good state.
That's awesome - these things are beautiful. 😍
You smell some 90s...
Definitely smells like the 90s in this room!
@@JaWayne Even as a Viewer, you can smell it well 😁
@@JaWayne btw
I have some CRT some good and a few one because they are cheap!
Alone the sound system for B&O are High End!
LCD can almost nothing when to think that way 😁
No, have OLED but I use both for Retro and New Stuff Videogames Movies...
You get the point 👍👉
@@BeatemupMaster That's awesome, they're cheap and easy to find out there!
@@JaWayne Some are getting starter to get Expensive
But I have, what I want 😁
nada como poner un vhs y mirar una buena película Antigua..... en una TV.... aunque no siento amor por el Nintendo 64
Awe, I love the 64.
Who’s your favourite Turtle ?
I've always gone back and forth between Michaelangelo and Rafael. I don't know if I have it in me to decide on one. You?
@@JaWayne Michealangelo for sure. Such a cool one !
he kinda fits my personality honestly, and orange is a great colour
@@DaisyPoofa Yup, he's a fun one.
I was wondering if you can do testing out on a JVC 20’ CRT TV from 2001
I'd love to - I haven't come across many JVC CRTs but I'll keep my eye out. I have a 13" Sylvania CRT that I'm about to do a feature on so I'll post that by the end of the month. I'll look for some 20" JVCs!
@@JaWayne they have them on eBay
Part of the fun for me is the hunting - I love going to estate sales and garage sales to find quality CRTs. I've found 10+ so far that were all in the $0-10 range. Plus, no shipping cost as well! haha I'll have to do more videos of the hunting part.
@@JaWayne oh ok
This Toshiba dvd vcr combo tv triggers some bad memories
Haha what happened - something long ago?
@@JaWayne it’s the exact tv the hospital had in the psychiatric units well over a decade ago. It isn’t very pleasant to think about a place that you weren’t allowed to leave on your own. Even worse was the way they punished me for being sick and having diarrhea because of the medication they gave me that I was having nearly every side effect from.
@@AmazedStoner Yeah that definitely seems to be a reminder of bad memories - there's always time to make new ones! It's been fun finding these old things that people are throwing out as others are paying good money to set up a retro gaming station. I'm about to film another video with a small 13" that's different from the others I have filmed.
@@JaWayne would have happily paid to have someone haul off the 32 inch that was discarded earlier this year
Yeah they’re a bother since they’re so bulky and heavy. I’ve stayed within the 20” region ever since I got my 32”, I decided that was way too big. If I can’t move it myself, it’s not worth it.

Nostalgia😃
Hopefully some good memories came back to you!
How can I connect a Nintendo Switch or TV Box and have it come out with color?
Hmm I've never used a Nintendo Switch or a TV Box (you mean cable?) BUT I sold a CRT to someone and they told me their games were only appearing in black and white. I told them to get an S-Video cord (does your TV have a S-Video input?) and it worked immediately for them. Maybe try that!
Bisa Memutar VCD Karaoke ORIGINAL
Nice!
Bisa Memutar VCD ORIGINAL
Heck yeah!
Apakah TOSHIBA CRT TV Ini

Bahasa Indonesian?
get "fullscreen" dvds to remove the blackbars.
I don't know why but I like the widescreen a little more - shows the whole frame instead of them choosing where to zoom in. Thank you for the tip!
