Yeah that thing goes hard! I felt like the colors were off the other day so was messing with them and I think they’re back to normal. Mario’s hat was like crimson or burgundy and I feel like it’s normal red now. But yeah for the SNES and N64, that thing is a beaut!

I haven't watched it yet, doing that this week. It does say on the back: Complete movie Introduction by Damien Leone Terrifier 2 Convention Featurette So it's got a lot of extra material to put onto tape.

I think estate sales are where it's at! This one was definitely a garage sale and to be honest I don't have much luck at garage sales either UNLESS you start conversing with the home owners. I always ask if they have any VHS and they laugh and say they probably got rid of them a long time ago but some people say they still have them all in a box - then you can ask for other things cause you've started a (short and surface level) relationship with them. So I ask if they have old TVs, VCRs, old video games. It has to feel organic though and it's fun because they're going down memory lane as they look for you.

That's awesome! It's a neat thing to have - just a fun thing to bring to someone's backyard haha

Thank you so much! And yeah, whenever I bought a Super Nintendo last year I went to an estate sale to grab an old TV and this was the first one I found. I found out later that these Sonys are hot commodities! Glad I lucked out on the first try, it was $28 if I remember correctly.

I'm glad you enjoy that aspect! I definitely agree that sometimes I get tired of people talking about the thing when I just want to see the thing. Good to know that there are more of y'all out there! I'll keep up this style and always down to take notes to improve!

Thank you! What would you adjust it to? I'm relatively new to this (filming CRTs) and would love to improve. One thing to note is that the settings I have on my camera are: 4K at 24 FPS, 1080p at 60 FPS and 1080 at 24 FPS. So I don't have a 4K at 60 FPS option which would be ideal. I love the 4K crispness for these videos but I think 60 FPS would be best to match the CRT.

@@JaWayne around 1/60 for 60Hz content and 1/50 for 50Hz content. Not the exact number but look up the refresh rates of each console

@@smasherjosh5000 Ohhh so I need to know the CRT display rate and the console display rate to figure out the shutter speed? I never thought about having to know both CRT + console but that makes sense.

That'd be awesome, you should definitely go on that quest. I never played Naboo and I'm excited to find that one in the wild. I'll do a walkthrough of it at some point. I need to play Shadows of the Empire, I got that when I bought Rogue Squadron (recently) and remember playing it a lot back in the day.

Yeah, that sequence was crazy. I've never played that game before, it looks super dope and I was thinking I need to do a play through sometime!

@@JaWayne btw I have some CRT some good and a few one because they are cheap! Alone the sound system for B&O are High End! LCD can almost nothing when to think that way 😁 No, have OLED but I use both for Retro and New Stuff Videogames Movies... You get the point 👍👉

Oh nice! Do you like it? I bought mine for $5 and it turns on but doesn't accept a tape. Neither does the bottom Sony. The top one works great!

Actually yeah! I was thinking of doing Super Mario Kart next and I’ve been practicing by playing through the circuits. It can be incredibly aggravating and stressful at times but I think that’s the one I want to try to 100% on camera. I’m working on getting an NES so I can play through the Turtles series (possibly in order). I have a lot of loose plans but yes, I’ll keep these CRT style videos going!

@@JaWayne once you get an NES, you’ll be glad you did. Turtles II and III were my favorites as a kid and also SMB1.

@@matthewsisk That's great to know! I actually have TWO NESs that I bought within the last year for cheap but one needs new pins and one sorta, kinda works. I have about 15 games but haven't really messed with them because I want a working console. The one that works I have to shove something into the reader to make it read so I'd rather not do all that haha. Either way, I'm excited to play all of those. I have the first TMNT and all 3 SMB and some random misc. titles.

I love using the Naboo Starfighter, I feel so capable and invincible. I never really used the Millennium Falcon until I was making this video and I think I fell in love. It felt so powerful and the sounds coming out from it were sexy haha I’d say it’s a toss up between those two! What about you?

I also didn’t have the remote with that one. It looked great as is tho and I’ve never really messed with the geometry or anything on a CRT. That one made SNES look great. I recently found a Magnavox security monitor CRT that’s super neat: black and white and has 4 inputs that you can auto-cycle through.

@@JaWayne Oooh that sounds cool! Yeah as it turns out once I give it a signal the geometry fixes itself. It just displays the input text half off screen when there's no source. Other than that, it does have a pretty loud whine but it's not very noticeable when playing a game

It really is! And it's fun.

I've never heard of a blue grundig - it sounds neat. And you're right, we play a lot of VHS on our CRTs - we play movies every night in the background while we work. It's cozy and it's fun to play through all of our tapes. I do play games every now and then but only N64 and SNES for now. It's a fun hobby.

@@JaWayne probably a European exclusive? I'm not too sure, I found possibly the same model number as that on eBay a while ago didn't buy it though.

​@@JaWayneI bought the Blu-Ray version of the Teenage Mutant 1990s trilogy a week ago arrived Wednesday afternoon

It's been fun! So I recorded everything I'm going to upload for Rogue Squadron and I need to edit a few more of the videos. I didn't try for Gold Medals in the recordings BUT I did get all gold medals on every level in the game which was a fun thing to do - I didn't believe I could do it at first but when I "accidentally" got Gold on Mission 16, I decided that maybe I am capable and I went for it! I'm uploading the rest of the Bonus Missions, then I'll upload a long form "Vehicle" video (playing 1 level with every vehicle), then a video that is 3 levels with the Millennium Falcon, then 3 levels with the TIE Fighter, then playing through the entire game with the Naboo Starfighter (skipping the Speeder levels). THEN my plan is to combine all of these videos into ONE very long video and doing some voiceover explanations of the game - I'll call that something like The Complete Walkthrough and Ultimate Guide. Then I'll move onto Super Mario Kart on the SNES!!

Heck yeah - can you name some? I can start looking for them, I don't think I currently have any in my collection. That'd be neat to mix up the gameplay content!
