good review, if i didn’t already have a 22 GSR i would seriously consider. THE BAD THINGS about my purchase? One thing i found with my MR was that it became pretty expensive for what it was by the time i replaced the crappy head unit for an alpine 9” $3000 fitted, didn’t have 360 camera because of covid shortages, no tpms $300, no adaptive cruise, gsr rear suspension needs upgrade for towing even a 1500kg caravan, no rear discs, the optional roller shutter, sports bar and tub liner was a waste and i ripped them all out as the tub liner rubs on paint and dealer left metal shavings beneath also didn’t do water draining correctly and went into tub instead of outside. $5000 extra wasted there. added a dino tune which really improved responsiveness especially when towing $1500. the servicing at some dealers leaves a lot to be desired, didn’t check air filter on 15000 service, was full of leaves. lack luster response when rear camera stopped working, said likely my fault with my wiring in an tub mounted aux battery. no reasonable response to crap head unit issues. when i replaced head unit, mins taller hooked up rear camera to it and it worked. cooked power supply for camera in old head unit. dealer response, oh we can order new head unit, 6 month wait but 12 months later no replacement unit (not that i would use it anyway, just the principle). pretty heavy on fuel compared to other utes in class when towing, due to smaller engine i guess. SMALLER TUB THAN COMPETITION AND less accessories available for triton than other brands. Bullbar does effect engine cooling so when towing in hot weather even when doing 80-90km/hr expect it to get hot spent $500 on scan gauge 2 to monitor. dealer issues makes the 10 year 200,000km warranty questionable value, probably better servicing and cheaper if done by a private competent mechanic and settle for 5 year 100km warranty. THE GOOD THINGS about the mr auto gsr? pretty good vehicle overall excluding issues above, the super selectII is great. supposedly mitsubishi are good at honouring issues with engine and drivetrain etc which are very reliable, more so than the market leader. the auto with steering wheel paddles to change gears is awesome, don’t know why they left that off the MV, it was a good differentiator like the super select. payload capacity when towing a two tonne van is actually better than some of the dearer competitors even though they have a higher tow capacity so mitsubishi seem to engineer this better or just less bull sh*t than competitors. conclusion it seems the MV has some good improvements over the MR, notably, roomier cab, extra output especially low end power, better head unit, adaptive cruise, bigger tub, better ride and handling, much better interior and extra glovebox. for the life of me i don’t know why mitsy couldn’t have moulded some shallow storage tubs on top of dash for more convenience. i can’t imagine it would cost them anything! rear discs should have been a no brainer, tpms should be standard on all new vehicles these days. stronger chassis is also a good move and better geometry for front suspension. to truly offer a true value alternative to others, some of these extra things would go a long way. 10:50
Great review, very informative and precise with detail. It’s not the sort of car I would buy, need but the vehicle is really impressive and looks great, and a 10 year warranty that’s amazing.
I wouldn’t touch a Ford with a barge pole but the new Triton is a big step to being an even better 4WD on road and no more turbo lag issues - it’s always been a good off-road with that brilliant super-select system - yes Paul Maric had to admit the Ford was showing some disappointing early signs of issues but uninformed bogans will still want their Ford ‘Danger Craptor’ which is fine by me as it’s their waste of money not mine - good job Mitsubishi (née Nissan).
This was a great review , this new triton looks great and rugged, i am not a fan of the bright orange color Mitsubishi puts on display though, but the review unit used on this channel looks amazing in that color. The interior is a big improvment , the 2.4 4n16 is an upgrade over the 4n15, its not just the same 2.4 as the old model with a twin turbo, the pistons have been upgraded to handle more power , while staying reliable The turbo spools much quicker , eliminating turbo lag There is improved fuel economy. You can drive in the triton on 4h on tarmac making it a full time awd vehicle, This cannot be done on the hilux, bi turbo ranger, dmax, bt50, those vehicles can only engage 4h at low speeds. This makes the triton one of the safest ute on wet roads. Ford cant match Mitsubishi reliability, car expert paul v6 ranger had to get a transfer case replacement in less than 6 months, because it developed a whine when driving at a certain speed Some ranger raptors had to get the entire engine replaced in less than 6 months.

Well covered, with a smooth flow to it! I thoroughly enjoyed this review. Was planning to buy the Pajero Sport but been thinking about the new Triton as well. They don't have the Pajero Sport 5-seater here as well.
hi, I don’t understand why they didn’t just put a bigger motor in them as they’re given only twin turbos more things to go wrong. Anyway they mustn’t know what they’re doing. I don’t understand why they just don’t make one with the 3 L turbo diesel
I will most likely upgrade my existing triton to this new one. I just don’t like the front grille the same colour as the body in the gsr? It’s a tiny thing to hate I know! I test drove one last week and loved it. Kills the hilux and Dmax by a long way. Hell, I even put it above the over-stressed Ranger.
That one of the most established 4x4 brands has to offer a 10yr warranty to get sales speaks volumes about public's currently low opinion of Mitsubishi recent lack of quality.
Yes makes great sense towing 3.5 ton with a 2 ton vehicle. The tail will wag the dog. The hard cold truth of physics is that he heavy caravan can push the lighter vehicle around. Fact is I have triton and a 2.5 ton van, I wish I had a 5 ton ivecco truck and not a tonka toy ute.
The only thing stopping me from buying is the DMS. Everytime i drive i have to turn it off? thats honestly a deal breaker. There has to be a way to permanently turn this feature off

I'm looking for a new car. This is top of my list...BUT. I've had 2 over the past few years. The Automatic was glorious EXCEPT towing. I pull 3.5ton regularly and the L2000 Auto transmission would overheat on inclines very quickly and go into limp. NOT good with a clients horses in the trailer. As it was only when towing a heavy load the warrantee was invalid??????? and could only be fixed wit a £1500 modification. HAS THIS BEEN ADDRESSED??
That touch screen is hideous. Sad that in 2024 Mitsubishi ( and a few others) still think it's acceptable to just slap in an ugly tablet sticking awkwardly out of the dash, while other manufacturers are able to seamlessly integrate a touchscreen SMOOTHLY and attractively into the dash. That's enough to stop me buying the new Triton
Would the new Mitsubishi triton suffer from the same issues as the Nissan frontiers seeing that they're now amalgamated with the Nissan Group, or is there any evidence to suggest that this is only a business tactic merger and the new tritons are still being manufactured independently by mitsu devoid of technical interference of Nissan engineers
Competitive, but not class leading. Mitsubishi have their own take on what owners want in a Ute ( I own current model Triton) and don't compare with Hilux or Ranger for top honours in this segment. Triton do most things well, engine and comfort still have catching up with competition Having said that, they'll still sell with current fans as it's a great improvement over the previous model.
Everybody talks about how Triton does not match up to Ranger or hilux but never explains how and why not? > greater towing than two > superselect > Rally history of mitsubishi >superior traction which makes up for 30Nm torque shortfall > engine and transmission with the same reputation As for Ford which is known for lack of reliability ????🤷🏾♂️
@@mpho6573 I could honestly tell you that after owning one they are ok but because of the shorter wheelbase you don't get the towing or the load capacity over the rear and it's so jittery on the roads . I had to upgrade to a two and a half inch lift with tough dogs suspension which has helped to some degree but only to meet up with standard on other vehicles. You can't compare the heritage of the rally art as it has no components to meet these rallies and I've had seven other mitsubishis as I do respect their engineering and reliability but when you compare it with the top runners they're behind in pretty much all areas except obviously all will drive on the road which is great because I use the fair bit in the wet and also the reliability of the engine and transmission which is marginally better than the Ford and probably on par with the Toyota.
