Transforming young patients into superheroes

Children undergoing radiotherapy treatment at the Cancer Centre in Belfast are being transformed into their favourite superhero or character with specially painted masks supported by Friends of the Cancer Centre.
The radiotherapy team at the Cancer Centre are keen to take away some of the fear and anxiety that comes with radiotherapy treatment for their young patients with head and neck cancer, who are required to wear masks over their face during treatment. The masks, which are specially made for each patient and a vital part of their care, can be an intimidating addition to an already scary and anxious time for young patients and their family. However, thanks to the radiotherapy team at the Cancer Centre, they can now be transformed into Spiderman, Wonder Woman and much, much more.
