Obviously I know it’s a 3.8 guys I accidentally said 3.6
This motor have a sound of a V8 engine, 348hp for a V6 it really powerful and run 13.9 at 103 mph. A turbo on this motor will be insane :)
Doe its is kool I would pass on the 3.8 and get the 2.0(which is what I have). The V6 are just not that reliable sadly

@samintrepid oh yea. Hyundai were literally targeting the tunnel community when they made the 2.0 but to the average fanatic for the 3.8
You don't want to add a turbo to the 3.8. It wasn't designed for it. Everyone blows up their Genesis Coupe cars. This is why I plan to sell my someday. There is no point in having this car. People need to do research before buying any car.

I love my 2014 3.8 genesis coupe - GT . The car is starting to become a hidden gem in my city . Looks great , fast and easy to fix if your into diy.
I've got a 2013 2.oT I bought flood salvage back in 2015. Got it with 26k miles and am at 150k now with absolutely zero issues outside of the catalytic converter going bad a couple years ago. Maybe being underwater had something to do with that LOL. If I totaled my Genesis, I'd buy another. Such a fun car. I agree with almost all of your review even though I've got the turbo version.
As you mentioned, my left hood vent also is now white 😂😂😂😂 It's just a write of passage.
I personally have never once considered it inconvenient that you can only access the trunk via the trunk release on the door and the key. Groceries are in my cart and I carry my keys on a carabiner on my hip, this also has prevented me from ever snagging and ripping the seats with a key loop.
I honestly don't understand how people blow these cars up so frequently. I personally feel like that's due to modifying it, and/or not maintaining it with regular service intervals but maybe everyone is just unlucky and my flood salvage car is somehow one of the good ones 🤷🏽♂🤷🏽♂🤷🏽♂🤷🏽♂🤷🏽♂

I own a 13 and 15 GC 3.8 and these vehicles make great UNMODIFIED daily drivers .I have MRR HR3 wheels with stock tire size with slight offset . M&S Ghost shadow front bumper and Chinese android head unit . I plan to keep driving them until Solid State batteries are common in EVs.

For the vents, the only real fix is taking them out, fully sand away the old crappy paint, primer and base coat. I tried plastidip, paint w/out primer or sanding, and it'll always peel off, unless you take the time to properly sand them while not on the hood.
Also, about the R-spec trim, it might be different for me since I'm in Canada and have a 2.0t R-spec, but I'm pretty sure you got a few things wrong. My understanding is that the R-spec came with all the sporty stuff (Brembo, LSD, 19in wheels, stiffer suspension and manual transmission only), while the Ultimate also added the luxury stuff from the Premium (infotainment and all that ).The seats are also different (gorgeous on the 2014+) but they're manual, not motorized and not heated.
But this is a great and fun car! Reliability is not fun tho. It feels like there's always a little thing wrong, but as long as you change the oil regularly, it shouldn't ever be catastrophic. And the paint is garbage, careful with the hood and plastic parts (like the bumper, mirrors and spoiler) as I've had some complete clear coat failure. But driving wise, this thing is a blast!!

Buying from Facebook and offer up is definitely the way to go , got a 70k 2013 3.8 track for 12k , no always the case but definitely better than buying from dealers

for the vents what i did was sprayed it with matte black plasti dip and have not had that issue since, just used wide masking /painters tape and did a few layers around it, so no need to take them off
I wish that worked for us… we did the same thing. Maybe it’s just the Florida sun.

Plenty of power, ages somewhat alright, becoming rarer. It's perfect just parts will eventually become harder
I wonder why they are becoming rare already? The 370z and G37 are old, yet they are easy to find

@@rileypaynestewart My window needs remounted I hope that’ll actually do it. My interior noise got a bit better with sound deadener under behind the door panels. Shit reminds you it’s an economy sports car lol
These cars (2009-2014) 2.0T are actually pretty reliable.I'm surprised they haven't gone up in value.

just got a 2015 3.8 with 17k miles and one owner who happened to be an old geezer, i truly lucked out.

Its a 3.8 not a 3.6 by the way. Good to show the mileage on it, how many owners its had and what history u know about it. Helps people understand the reliability at the age and wear thats on your example for how many repairs its had. Like its perfectly normal to have had that kind of work done if the cars at 140-160k miles

@@rileypaynestewart ahah yes you did, I own a 2013 bk2 here in italy(probably the only one) 3.8 and love it, the only thing I wish Hyundai made it from fabric is a sportier exaust, a bit lower to the road and more aggressive downshifts in manual mode with the auto, but hey, all of this can be made aftermarket with a bit of money

@@rileypaynestewart yes indeed and I do not know from where the reliability issues come from, 10 years of age and running strong. For interiors and exteriors, just use ceramic product to clean and protect and it will last forever(I am using everything of carpro, out of leather cleaner, labocosmetica OMNIA is actually the best one)

No, don't buy one. I have a stock 2016 Genesis Coupe 3.8. I plan to save up money, sell my car someday, and purchase a 2019-2021 BMW M240i xDrive. If I get super rich, I will get the new G87 M2. 348 horsepower was nice to experience, but I'm ready for the next level. There is no point adding a Remnant Performance turbo kit. Everyone blows up their cars. Even people with built engines have destroyed them. It's pointless. If I have a 2013-2014 BK2 Genesis Coupe 2.0, I would consider keeping the car and having it built in the future to make 700whp. As of right now, I see no point in keeping the 3.8, and I've owned the car since 2017 or 2018.
It’s a really fun car and we love owning it. Keeping the engine stock.
