You NEED these pickups in your Stratocaster! (EMG SA single coil pickups REVIEW and DEMO)
I upgraded my Strat with some EMG SA Active Alnico Single Coil pickups and WOW these are killer. I didn't think the difference would be as noticeable as it is.

I do the same thing
Yes
I feel my wife is the same way.
It’s always in the hands
Improve your technique and this problem will go away.
Yes it will drain the battery when it is plugged. The input(output) jack has 3 legs, for tip ring sleeve. When plugged, ring and sleeve connected and battery (-) connected. When unplugged, ring sleeve disconnected.
i have an active pickups bass guitar. its my second bass. after a year, i am still used to being able to keep it plugged it. thanks to me we go through 12 volt batteries like crazy lol
@NaoP3 just make sure you unplug it and you won’t waste batteries! They can last around a year with tins of playing idc you just don’t leave it plugged in
@ trust me im trying to get out of the habit
I'm currently building a partscaster Strat, I almost got the David Gilmour pups for it, but ended up getting the Steve Lukather set instead... EMG 85 humbucker in the bridge position, SLV Lukather signature single coils in middle and bridge positions. I get the rest of the parts tomorrow to finish it, can't wait. I've found swapping from passive to active pretty easy, the documentation from EMG is easy to read and follow, and I've never had to rout any new space for the battery. But your mileage may vary. Next Strat build I do, definitely going with the Gilmour signature pups. They sound great!
Nice!
I have the same problem. What about the sound, when You turn the middle pickup completely down?
@@peterbrusch1493 it works but it’s wayyy quieter than the other pickups so pretty much unusable. Even if you played it like that you’re missing out on the optimal sound of the pickups from it being so low.
Interesting problem, easy solution. I guess it's easier than working on your strumming technique. I can't say I've ever hit my strat pickup with my pick before. You have this issue on a setup like a Les Paul, or only strat because there's a pickup in the middle?
@@BorutoUzumaki-yx9uu only a strat with a middle pickup. Seems like a few people agree with me. I just figured it was because of the type of music I play paired with my technique. But I’ve been working on my strumming technique a lot for unrelated reasons and it still happens. My picking technique is pretty textbook right now.
Meanwhile pianists out there summoning musicians with a single note...

wtf u talking about
@@TommyKing-m3f typically when you see something like that comment it's talking about nipples as they tend to protrude when it's cold. Now it doesn't make any sense here but I've had the issue where I comment on one video but TH-cam sends that comment to a previous video I watched or whatever is behind the focused video. Except for example if you're watching a video but then tap on a short and try to comment on that short it may send the comment to the video in the background instead. Or if you are watching a short and tap a push notification for another video and comment on that TH-cam may send it to the video to the previous short you were watching. It's been around for ages and TH-cam still hasn't fixed it. Google can't even get their voice to text to work right.

Little late to the vid, but I have a 2016 ST1 and I just bought a set of these to replace my second set of OEM headlights. Ford built them to where the plastics fade very quickly..and of course they wont replace them as its not a warranty item (which is funny because headlights are SAFETY items lol). Mine fit easy, I just had to buy some H7 LED bulbs (whatever brightness/brand you want). I just have two issues after only a few days of having them, the DRLs dont work and the adjustment screws dont adjust anything (up or down). Im going to look at the harness they include, but it looks like just an extension of the factory plug and theres even a second little connector, that doesnt appear to be something that plugs directly into OEM connectors. DRLs dont bother me, its the adjustment part as the lights are too low if Im in a darker area and that is a functionality problem. If I do have issues Ill message them, but over all the look and the ability to drop in LEDs SAFELY for other drivers is really nice. I was running some LEDs in the stock ST1 housings and they are very bright, as they're intended for Halogens. You still got the ST? End up doing any other mods or just keep it simple and sell like a lot of owners have over the last few years? Cheers and hope 2025 is a good year for ya! Subscribed to help ya out 😎
Nice bmth tee
@harmontds5491 thanks dude
I’m here
It’s just a drill thanks for showing up
Is it very heavy to play on it? Would you recommend this to beginners?
@@gdj9422 this is the best guitar for beginners in my opinion! It’s a little heavy but not too bad
I have both Fender Jeff Beck Signature and a classic vibe strat set up really well. Even if you are playing blind folded, you can certainly tell the difference. It's the playability and feel of balance of the guitars that made the differences no matter how good the setup was. My best advice is to buy a second hand Fender USA, an upper range Ibanez or ESP or LTD. You will get the quality of the wood the neck that cheaper guitars don't have with reasonable price.
I’m not surprised you can easily tell the difference between those two. Wildly different specs. Different neck shape, different fret size, different nut types, different tuner styles, different woods for the body. Literally every single thing that you touch on the guitars are different. In terms of differences on the sound. Modern style pick ups versus vintage alnico pickups. Those two guitars couldn’t be more different.
Does David Gilmour actually use active EMG's?
@@HalfDeadGeezers yes!
These guitars have American ash bodies as far as I know. So they're generally going to be heavy anyway. I have a early 60s Fender telecaster with an ash body and it is also a heavy blighter.
You are correct it is American ash wood
What a useless video. How 'bout a demonstration?
@@michaelholland3151 this is a short from a much longer video in my channel. I think you’ll find the long video much less useless.
I ordered the pickguard and just popped it in, super quick. Sounds incredible! I'll be hitting up my Luthier to put in a battery compartment on the back. I don't want to route my own guitar.
@@yarrokon that’s probably the best way to do it, good choice!
Depending on how much you change strings or play, it isn't that big a deal. Most "normal" folks would only need to change the battery once a month as long as you unplug the guitar.
@@joelmarksbury4376 I've used EMG's for about 20 years, even practicing pretty much daily I get at least 6 months out of a battery. You can hear when it's going. Changing it once a month is a good plan though.
Just a note, Lithium battery and don’t leave your guitar plugged in when your not playing, Doubtful you’ll have to change it, if you worried change it once a year and spend $20ish to do so
Got a 17 ST1 and it way more comfortable for long trips if you're a bigger guy . Extremely fun daily driver that can safely handle 400 HP on the stock block
There great, a lot of people think there for metal but, they dont realize the david gilmour set is totally different. They record excellent and are dead quiet. Now, when i play regular single coils they just dont have that power and signal strength i get with these. So dont sleep on these pickups.
@@chrissguitarshow206 absolutely, these pickups quite literally wake up the guitar in so many ways. I’ve never been so inspired to pick up the guitar and play.
They sound sick
Did the locking tuners fit fine on the existing holes or did you have to make adjustments? Stock pickups? TIA
@@TheErickTrick no adjustments at all! Check out my installation video for all the details!
Why is it not good for a pro guitarplayer? Nonsense. I own the HB TE-52 . I did some work on it. Good, pro, pu's, another bridge, saddles, pots. Yesterday i held a custom 50's Fender Tele. Unplugged.Price 6900 $. I closed my eyes just to feel it. Baseball bat neck, lightweight ( which is nice, some 50-ies F's were indeed lightweight,...if i would'nt have known, the price & the brand..... I'd choose the HB over the Fender. Feel wise. despite the weight. i play sitting down anyway. remember...an indonesian luthier gets paid maybe 20X less than his US counterpart. The crafting makes the price asked.
@@hajwitlox6548 I agree, it’s great for a pro player!
Sounds cheap.

chances are it sounds like a 149$ guitar
It actually doesn’t buckaroo
@@rileypaynestewart sure thing, junior. The reality is that any guitar that retails for 150bucks cost a fraction of that as far as materials, build quality, administration, & profit. You think cheap guitars are made, marketed, & sold for free --too funny
