Thank you guys for this awesome information! My youngest daughter will be a travel nurse in a month or so. I'm will share this video for sure! Bet she'll love your sense of humor too!!😉😁
Our domicile is Texas. You can renew your vehicle tags online without a inspection. You just note your out of state and they renew the plates. The catch is with 24-48 hours(check the exact time) you must have your inspections complete after returning to the state.
Thank you for being the first creators that acknowledge that people watch videos on their TV! In a world of “description below” and “click above” this was nice. I watch TH-cam almost exclusively on the Apple TV and feel recognized LOL 😂
As a fellow full-time RVer and “resident” of South Dakota - welcome to the neighborhood. Currently in AZ - obviously WAAAAAY to cold up North. I use Americas Mailbox and it works just fine. See ya down the road.
Great content as always you two. We will be fortunate when we hit the road when I retire at 55 next year. My employer will provide us medical coverage for life including our Medicare plans when the time comes with minimal copays . They will also provide us with a HSA of 30k to cover any out of pocket expenses. We are very fortunate to have coverage like this. We will utilize tele-medicine and mail order RX if needed. And like you two. We have are a nurse and former Fire/EMS so we tend to “self diagnose” at times. Take Care and keep being goofy. It’s the only way to live.
John from the TH-cam channel No Ordinary Path is a good resource for your segment regarding travel nurse’s insurance as he is a traveling nurse. Stay safe, stay well and keep giving us more K(C)arl and NeyNey. Now back to the video.
Well then, welcome new South Dakota "residents"!! My bride (of 39 years) and I live near Sioux Falls SD and have camped in the Yankton area campgrounds for 30 years. We absolutely love the scenery around Yankton! We enjoy your channel and watch every "episode" you produce. You are so blessed to be able to do what you love to do at such a young age. Keep us in smiles!
Great information! Our major hiccups are going to be mail, medical and good internet service. We will keep our IN domicile and travel about 4-8 months per year. I'm going to retire in about a year and then we are going PRO! #rollinrollinrollin
We are full timers and went with Traveling Mailbox for mail forwarding and domicile address. They have multiple choices in many states. We like the scanning features they offer. We can get pieces scanned if we choose and just download to keep on file. We have very little actually forwarded to us. Newbies be aware though - many mail forwarding addresses meet the federal requirements for a legal address, but the states won't recognize it for voting. Also ended up changing domicile from TX to FL. We wanted to upgrade our 23 ft. travel trailer to a 5th wheel. Learned TX requires a non-commercial CDL license if your rig+truck weighs 26,001 lbs or if rig alone is 10K lbs or more. Yeah. That coupled with yearly inspections made us dump TX. Florida made everything SO easy. Yes, insurance costs more. Gotta pick your battles. Health care is also challenging. We chose a medical indemnity plan. We have no home base and currently don't really plan to come back to one area yearly (we think). Got questions? Hit me! Lived & breathed this stuff for over a year!
We domicile in TX and you can go online and certify your RV and "other vehicle" are NOT in the state and you just agree that when you get back to TX you'll get the inspection done. We've had to do this twice in four years. No problem. Pay the invoice for the stickers (that will be sent to you) and you're set! Great video! ~Lynette
I have all of my mail sent to my parents house. I also have my address as my parents house for all of my registration and license and things like that. During the summer when I go up to alaska, I just used the general post through the post office and it works amazing! As for medical, it sucks! Controlled substance medications are the worst. It's a constant battle. But, it is what it is. Great video guys!! 🤠
You guys are great, and your dedication is appreciated. My wife and I are learning much as we prepare for life on the road. Be encouraged, stay well, and keep bringing the content. Cecil & Janice (Indiana, USA)...or maybe soon-to-be South Dakota :-)
Thank you for this video! This topic seems to be overlooked with the excitement of hitting the road. It's the (sometimes) "boring" aspects that can make or break the entire experience. Such good information to have! Thank you (Sean and Stacy)
Love, love, looove you guys! I sold my house and car in April 2023, bought a Class C RV and have been living the RV lifestyle full time with my dog and adventure cat and been having the greatest adventures. You guys have been such an inspiration and real motivation for me to do this, especially solo! The Domicile information on this video is exactly what I needed to know to do next! Thanks again for everything you do and maybe I'll see you at a meetup!
That was a great informative video guys. We have decided in a few months to change our address to our daughters house and she can just send us our important mail, like car tags and proof of insurance while on the road. My husband retires in December. We still have a sticks and bricks in Southern Ca where we can come back and take care of doctor appointments, taxes, and so forth.
We have an ACA plan - and love it. This year we opted for higher monthly payments and lower cost copays and prescriptions. My husband had a heart attack on the road last year so we have learned how important these things are for travelers.
We are so sorry to hear about your husbands heart attack, that is scary! Glad you both have things figured out well 😊 Keep on keeping on!! Much love from the Hanks family ❤️
I had a nasty car problem while traveling near Yankton, SD, and the Ford dealer there took good care of me. So, I have good memories of that place. It's a very small town, but the people were friendly. There were LOTS of trees, unlike where I live. I love trees, so I was very comfortable there.
My mom is from Pennington county also. We travel there all the time. Also on some insurances plans you can get what is called a ppo ( preferred provider option) which has certain benefits that will help cover someone while travelling
Great video! I watch you guys every week, and I really enjoy your videos. BTW Ney Ney I see you have an acoustic guitar, maybe one of these days we'll get together (all of us) and jam!! take care and see you next week, Wally, Susanne, and Austin Williams
Hi NayNay and Carl! I'm Lise, also an RN (in the OR!) Collin turned me on to your site, (as in Collin and Lola!). I'll be traveling with them, rving full-time, and I have a lot to learn. I love you guys!! Thank you so much for your channel and all the great info! Hope to meet you on the road somewhere/sometime! Happy trails! Lise
We have been using the general delivery service with USPS right now bc the park we’re at doesn’t allow packages and so far haven’t had any issues. All you do is walk in the post office show your id and they bring your packages to you.
I absolutely love you guys and your channel is so entertaining and informative. I came across your channel a few days ago and just completed the HappilyEverHanks marathon. I was looking for content on how to become a full time RV'r. My friends and family would say I am crazy but will not be surprised when I take the plunge. I have recently turned 50 (Kyle, I would take turning 30 again any day, well maybe) and will be an empty nester next year. I was a single mom of three children so I did not have much time if any for myself, but I wouldn't have changed it for the world. Now it's my time, although I just bought a brand-new home, I am seriously considering selling it and buying an RV. Packing up the dogs and hitting the road. Watching your channel gives me the motivation and comfort of knowing I won't be alone when I take the plunge. (I am sure somewhere in there is a dad joke, LOL). Anyways, thanks again for what you do and the time you put into your videos. I hope to meet you both in person very soon as well as this wonderful HappilyEverHanks family.
Wow thank you so much!! You are absolutely going to rock this lifestyle! We had our friends and family tell us the same when first getting started 😄 You sound like a wonderful person and mother! Keep this positivity going!! We are rooting for you and can't wait to hear more about your transition into full-timing ❤️ Much love from the Hanks family!!
Mail service: We use a Pack & Ship store near where we use to live, the advantage to this, is they usually dont have many mail boxes, and depending on the location, the address looks like an apartment, or it can be addressed like an apartment, so it doesnt throw up red flags for financial institutions, like credit cards or some banks. My service sends me a picture of all my mail about once a week, then i tell him what I want him to do with it, like hold, scan or discard, then once a month I have him ship it all to us. has been working well for 10 months now.
You don’t have to be in Texas to do your vehicle registration you can actually do it online 90 days early and you note your out of state on the application, then it comes back approved and you go ahead and pay. It’s sent to your mailing address and your go to go. Now when returning to Texas you have 3 days to get your vehicle inspected. You can be good foe multiple of years too…
I just bought a travel trailer, and am trying to learn as much as possible as quickly as possible. Being 63 and a first-timer is daunting to say the least. Aside from all that, I absolutely love your energy and positivity. We need more of that in today’s world! Very much enjoy your video’s and all the great info you put out there! Thanks, Bob
The information runneth over in this one, you guys rawked some seriously great stuff!!! Super detailed and I’m sure will be much appreciated. USPS General Delivery is a good way to get mail. You are correct when saying the do not like to accept Amazon, UPS or FedEx Deliveries. Just check that the specific Post Office accepts General Delivery beforehand.
This video was gold. I was wondering all these things, now I have a place to start. We already live in Florida so that might be the easy way to go for us. Thanks!
I'm so glad I found your channel. We are now in the process of putting our plan together to make the RV living jump. Taking FKS on the road. Love your channel its a wealth of knowledge!!!
Thank you. Very helpful info. I have been on the road a year and need to renew my drivers license. I think I will use SD like you all did. Safe travels.
Okay... This is so good I gave listened to this video three times, AND I made notes. My wife wanted to know what happened, I never make real notes these days. Thanks again
We camp at Angostura all summer, its only 1 hour from Box Elder. If you guys are in the area check out Horsehead camp ground at Angostura we are hosting there this summer.
When you head north, just prepare to be a little underwhelmed if you stay at The Oaks at Point South RV. It is a super convenient stopover heading to NC though. Love the videos!
If you need to purchase things online you can have it sent to the carriers office. Ie- post office, FedEx or UPS and HOLD AT LOCATION. Yes, there's a fee, but you get to pick it up during regular hours at your convenience.
Current events twist. I am diabetic and insuline resistant. I was using Walgreens and recently they had a round of closings, and doing the same. I explained about the rv life and they said to keep a 60 days on hand and transfer. Yeahbi found the gap where the walgreens no longer had a pharmacy! Had it sent to cvs for a month. I have a 12 volt 6 pack fridge just for that.
Great information! I'll give you thumbs up and paws up we saw Dexter! Can Dee tow a 7 floor building.. lol Miss Patty cakes says there's no way she's coming out of this condo but she will travel if you take the building with you. Once again great video stay safe and behave not possible for Carl AKA Kyle but Dexter will try to keep you in line
Hi guys thanks for the videos! Title, Registration, License and Taxes can go quick IF you don’t have a loan on you RV. If you have a loan, most lenders hold your title (depends on state) and you have to go through them to move your registration. With Covid (yes they still blame this) it. An take a long time - we were told 4 weeks to 4 months, so plan accordingly! Then don’t got get to change you insurance to the new state. If you are full time, you need Fulltime insurance. Change you voting registration. Lots more to consider and change too! Rob
You guys are so awesome!.. great video as I am weighing my options as I sold my sticks and bricks. And need to decide before October... Healthcare thankfully is good being a disabled veteran this was my first year experiencing this. But the VA has a program called traveling vet, which of anyone is interested is a great program. You're PCP at your home VA can send referrals, test, diagnostics to any VA and he can view it all and determine what more is needed throughout the country. Long winded... But grateful for you guys..
Good info and timely! We’re getting ready to go through this whole process. So far Florida seems right for us because we want health insurance that can be used nation-wide.
Thanks Hanks, You guys are always spot on with helpful tips. No matter what the subject I always learn something new even though I have watched that video before. Great job Grandpa Jack
We're originally from Texas. We full-time RV now. Our domicile is Texas. The auto inspection really is not an issue. You just have to have it inspected within one week of returning to the state of Texas.
Hi Hanks!! Hope ya'll are doing well! Great, informative video! Thank you for giving us the info on the research you already did. We use my parents address for our mail/licenses/registrations, works out very well! Since I work full time my husband and I are on my health insurance but i never checked to see if they cover us nationally so #thankshanks for that tip! Congrats on the 100th video! Here is to another 100! 🍻 safe travels!
My family and I sold everything and purchased a fifth wheel. A heartland milestone 370flmb. We were so excited but turns out our dream became into a nightmare! When we took delivery of our unit, the inside was infested with fiberglass! So all of our clothes, dishes, appliances, bed and everything we owned was blanketed with fiberglass. We notified the dealership and manufacturer, instead of helping us they both are giving us a hard time.
Oh no!! We are so sorry to hear this 😔 RV life never ceases to have some surprises (both good and bad). Please keep us updated on how things progress, we are sending you and your family all the positive vibes!! Much love from the Hanks ❤️
Love living in the great state of South Dakota! I wondered about your license plates when you were not originally from here. Thanks forgoing through all that.
Another great video, thank you! We have 23 more months before my hubby, Mark, retires at the age of 67.. We have to decide between the 3 States on the "Escapees" program. One big question is about taxes on our RV. Here in Georgia our property tax on it is about $600 a year. Is it very expensive for South Dakota? That will be one of the largest deciding factors in which state we "settle down in"! *G*` I'm an old "Licensed Play Nurse" and have the same affliction of dx myself until the last minute... I've been out of practice for 20 + years and still miss-behave by diagnosing my-Self! *Shrug* what can I say? It comes with the long hours of study and long hours on the floor! Take care of yourselves and each other young nurses! I'm so glad y'all are taking a break right now, It's harder to be a nurse now than it has ever been. Hope to see you on the road one day! Lisa and Mark
Love this!! We don't recall them being expensive, they are definitely a savings from Pennsylvania! Love that you are an LPN by the way!! Thank you for what you do ❤️ Stay safe Lisa and Mark, we hope to hear from you again soon!!
Super video!! You guys have gotten so good at editing and overlays even an educational video is fun to watch. The one thing you young folks don't get to take advantage of that retiree's do is carrying your medical into retirement. Also, at 65 the requirement to make Medicare your primary and your other insurance secondary.
Love everything you guys share 💛. Right now my partner and I are embarking on pay off debt journey so we can enjoy our RV full time. Would love to hear your frugal tips and more on debt free living. 😊
Hey there! This is so wonderful to hear, you both must be excited! 😊 We actually have some videos that we talk about this, I will leave them linked below for you
We use USPS General Delivery occasionally between our east coast and west coast destinations for mail and packages. Here are a few tips we've learned during our travels. 1. Find out where is the main Post Office in your area. Only the main Post Office for the area will hold your mail. Call or stop by and ask if they accept General Delivery mail. 2. Amazon, FedEx, UPS, DHL is not accepted. 3. Send your mail with tracking. 4. Pick up your mail within 30 days. 5. Bring ID 6. Address the mail or package as described by USPS rules and include -9999 with the ZIP code. For example Your Name General Delivery Anytown, ST 12345-9999 7. Use a return address when possible.
You two are the best. I’ve been wondering about all of this. BTW I’m originally from PA, Delaware county. Thanks for the time you took to make this video for all of us newbies. Selling my house, going to live in my semi till I find the right RV that I want
Also look into alternative medicines! Youd be surprised what you can eliminate just from a little bit of research. Especially issues like inflammation, digestive, and respiratory. Thanks Hanks! Cant wait to get out there to meet you soon!

Thanks Nora!
Good information. I’m not full time and didn’t know you could do that. My kids live in Box Elder. Son is in the Air Force there. Love your videos.
Thank you. Very helpful info. I have been on the road a year and need to renew my drivers license. I think I will use SD like you all did. Safe travels.
Okay... This is so good I gave listened to this video three times, AND I made notes. My wife wanted to know what happened, I never make real notes these days. Thanks again
That's great!
We use Americas Mailbox. It works the same as Escapees.we have also used General delivery for Amazon packages.
Great info! Thanks Hanks!!! Had to laugh when I heard Box Elder! Small place....we were stationed at Ellsworth!
Oh too funny! Thank you so much Kim!! :) We appreciate your support!!
Please don't forget, if you travel Internationally (Canada, Mexico) check with your health care provider to make sure you are covered.
That is right! Thanks for sharing Larry!
We camp at Angostura all summer, its only 1 hour from Box Elder. If you guys are in the area check out Horsehead camp ground at Angostura we are hosting there this summer.
A lot of good information. Also I posted some pictures on the blog. I think everyone will get a kick out of them
Oh nice!
When you head north, just prepare to be a little underwhelmed if you stay at The Oaks at Point South RV. It is a super convenient stopover heading to NC though. Love the videos!
Thanks for the tip!
This was a really good video!
Love it! THANKS HANKS! U ROCK!!
No you rock! 🤘
Rob
Thank you so much for this Rob! This is great information, keep it coming! :) Cheers!!
Oh good to know! Thanks for sharing
Good info and timely! We’re getting ready to go through this whole process. So far Florida seems right for us because we want health insurance that can be used nation-wide.
That's a great choice!
Love this Kimberly!! This is good to know that there is some time to get it inspected upon arrival :) Stay safe out there!
Thanks Hanks! 😁
Thanks Erin! Yes, something good to check out!
Great video today! Safe travels!
Hope to meet you next time you’re in Florida🏖🐊💘
CONGRATULATIONS🎊
100 Videos!💏 WOOHOO!🥳
GREAT information! Great job sharing so much vital information for full-time as well as part-time RVers.
Love this!! Thank you so much :)
Love living in the great state of South Dakota! I wondered about your license plates when you were not originally from here. Thanks forgoing through all that.
I've used USPS General Delivery. I've had mail/packages sent to the area/city I am at, and USPS accepted it and holds it for a short time for you.
Thanks for sharing!
great info and you guys are the 1st I have seen talk about it
Another great video, thank you!
I'm an old "Licensed Play Nurse" and have the same affliction of dx myself until the last minute...
That's so true!

5. Bring ID
6. Address the mail or package as described by USPS rules and include -9999 with the ZIP code. For example
Your Name
General Delivery
Anytown, ST 12345-9999
7. Use a return address when possible.
This is fantastic, thank you so much for sharing!
You two are the best. I’ve been wondering about all of this. BTW I’m originally from PA, Delaware county. Thanks for the time you took to make this video for all of us newbies. Selling my house, going to live in my semi till I find the right RV that I want
That is great!
Thanks for all the great info!! ❤️❤️
Thanks Hanks for sharing. We are soon to hit the road and found your content the best!
Have fun!
Thanks for the great info... making those decisions will take some time, now we have a head start.
Absolutely Diana!! :) Much love from the Hanks ❤️
Thank you!!!!! We are looking into Good Sam mail service. This helped us a lot!
Also look into alternative medicines! Youd be surprised what you can eliminate just from a little bit of research. Especially issues like inflammation, digestive, and respiratory. Thanks Hanks! Cant wait to get out there to meet you soon!
So right!
you two are a hoot, funny, and a little crazy, and, you make my day.thanks
Great video. As an old nurse this really resonates.
