We just got an email today from Traveling Mailbox that our address with them expires in 30 days 🤣😡 So, we are in Maine about to leave the country. We won’t be back in Florida until Fall. We are changing to the new address they gave us where we can.
But we are dropping Traveling Mailbox as soon as we are back in Florida,

Love that you both admit when you make a mistake, accept responsibility, and then do what you can to fix it. Our society today teaches the opposite from the highest levels on down. To err is human, to have accountability is divine.

THAT is what sets these nice people apart. Honesty, personal accountability, humility, information. Why, i do beleive these are "old fashoined traits" not displayed in common society today.
So, we join their society and leave the other one behind, throwing a big middle finger as we walk away!

    * When I bought my first RV 7 months ago, I immediately went paperless on every bill.
    * I had already googled 'Do not mail' and had my address removed from any direct mail (aka advertising).
    * At the point of purchase, I only got a bank statement which included my debit card. Going paperless on that was a matter of security since I had previously been a victim of identity theft.
    * My AT&T cell bill is only $34.08 a month which was already on automatic draft.
    * I pay RV and auto insurance annually and do not draft that so I can review coverages first, then authorize a one-time draft once a year.
    * I only need an address to renew my driver's license which I can use the RV park or a relative or a nearby post office which nowadays will give you a physical address.
    * By all of the above, I have NO MAIL. 🎉

Can't use the RV park (camp ground) as a mailing address where we are right now. Lazy, paranoid, Crackheads, whatever the reason it sucks. I miss the RV park out side of El Cajon Up the hill. You can use that place as a permanent residence and it's pretty nice as well. Too bad in my trade the market is saturated in the San Diego area or I'd make that place my home till I die. Lol 😁

When we were living on our sailboat, we didn’t have any issues. When we went to part time campers/renters, we had an issue when we tried to purchase a car. Dealer and credit union could not understand what a domicile was and demanded a “physical” address. It took weeks to get everything straightened out, and we live in Florida!

They are a full service domicile and mail forwarding service and when you call them you get a real person! Absolutely no complaints! We have recently changed our domicile to Americas mailbox in South Dakota and pray they will provide as good a service as St Brenden’s Isle. I think the keyword for anyone moving to the rv lifestyle is to search for domicile services, not just mailing services. Great video guys! Will be checking into your RV park to see if we can help.

You guys are great! As a disabled, Vietnam-Era Vet, I decided to sell my house in North Carolina, purchase a fifth-wheel camper and hit the road. I domiciled in South Dakota, establishing an address with Americas Mailbox. That PMB address is on my SD driver's license and vehicle registrations. In the last 1-1/2, I have found some very significant drawbacks! First issue was that my bank and credit card companies did not recognize a PMB as a legal address. Had to fudge my way around that, but not sure how long it will last. I tried to purchase a hunting rifle only to find that I could not because the ATF does not consider PMB's. Most recently, tried to open a brokerage account with E-trade, and once again, rejected due to the PMB address. I'm surprised that I have not found other full-timer's discussing these issues. Or is there a work-around that I have not heard of? Any help from or your subscribers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

  • @dustytravels9458
    @dustytravels9458 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Not having a physical address is becoming a much larger issue for full-timers. Mail forwarding companies are now instantly recognized by financial institutions, and are not valid for their purposes. I domiciled in South Dakota using Americas Mailbox earlier this year, and have been plagued with issues since. My former, residential address was in North Carolina, and taxes are way too high there. My new, S.D. driver's license has the Americas mailbox address and PMB #. My bank recently refused to open a second savings account for me because I do not have a residential home address, and have told me to acquire one or they will close my accounts. The same with my credit cards. Just a few weeks ago, before leaving S.D., I went to a sporting store to buy a hunting rifle, only to be told no, because the ATF will not accept a mail service address. A lot of people like me are stuck! I do not know anyone well enough in S.D. to ask to use their address.
And for most purposes, you drivers license needs to match whatever residential address you might acquire.
This whole thing is ridiculous! There are more than 1.5 million full-timers out there.. what are we supposed to do ????

A big consideration is where will you be. If you hang out in Arizona, you do not want your domicile to be on the East Coast. Things like jury duty, smog / safety checks on vehicles. You may need to be there to get a driver's license renewed. if you need medical attention, your insurance carrier may want you to see someone in the State you Domicile. Emergencies are usually covered nationwide, but what if you just want a checkup? Your health insurance may not cover it in a different State.
Nevada is a central location for Western States If you do need to go there. South Dakota sounds good until you need to go there in the winter for a new driver's license.

And I thought it was only us! Do NOT use The UPS Store either. 1) DMV's won't register vehicles with a UPS Store address (they know that address is a P.O. Box and not a physical address, altho it looks like one) 2) outrageous fees for the service 3) ships most expensive way possible (even for 2 letter size envelopes $22) 4) shipped all 3rd class junk mail (even when the contract said not to and when I had them on the phone telling them what to ship and toss the rest). We feel your pain and now use a family members address as our address. Everything is online but occasionally we do get 'real' mail; we get a text/call with you've got this mail. Sometimes it's please open & scan to us, or maybe she just mails it to our next stop. All our packages come to whatever RV Park/Campground where we're staying. AND when we stopped with The UPS Store, by law they're suppose to forward your mail - they DON'T and neither would the Post Office because UPS 'owns' that address not you. We lost health coverage because of them. Good luck!

After maintaining systems for banks for many years(now retired) it is the federal govt rules that the banks have to follow about addresses. Much of these rules came about due to 9/11/2001.
As for the MyRVmail, we plan on domiciling in South Dakota, so even though it sounds good for those changing to Florida we will probably use Escapees when we make the jump.

Banks, insurers, and law enforcement really hate it when they can't just go to your house to find you. That alone makes them suspect that you're up to something nefarious. Check out some of the "First Amendment Auditor" channels. When law enforcement contacts them, the first thing they always want is photo ID with their home addresses. Even when they can't compel people to ID they act like it's *highly suspicious* that anyone would rather keep that information private.

Car insurance, car tags, and etc. ON LINE everything is better and if you cant trust a family member to take pics of the mail/envelopes and send to you, you have a much bigger problem Junk mail is junk mail. I chose a mail service & domicile that also rents RV sites on property. When banks/brokerage services etc. say "that's a commercial address", and they will, I simply tell them that it's an RV park and that's where I rent. That usually takes care of it.

Fortunately I chose the right company to work with in South Dakota whose loosely affiliated with FMCA. I've had zero issues with the address, no glitches or gotcha's. I spend a couple months a year up here as well, so I can always actually go there as well. ALWAYS deal with a forwarder who actually gets / understands the needs of RVer's.

Florida has been our domicile for 1 1/2 years now, and we have been VERY happy with it. While doing our due diligence in figuring out which state would be the best for us, we discovered not all mail services are the same in Florida and not all areas are affordable. We use My RV Mail in Crestview, and it's been great. They service a great number of overseas military. I found the mail service to be excellent and affordable for full-time RVers (and we get a nice discount being Passport America members), and the price of registering, tagging, and insuring our truck and 5th wheel in Okaloosa county is very reasonable.

While that's true once you're a customer, if you want a loan, banks aren't so excited if they don't have a way to find you. That's why we have a physical address through Escapees RV Club, not just a mail forwarding address. Even so, banks are suspicious when they learn that it's an RV park and not a "home". I think they overlook that issue when they see that someone has a lot of money, but they're less "forgiving" of ordinary folk who are not making six figures and above.

I glanced at price, however 1) and 2) were the driving factors. A lot of the You Tube couples were using new, out-of-state companies. One YT couple I have watched, are impulsive, make stupid mistakes, immediately make a video of their "problem". YT has been a godsend of information, one sure has to sort the bad information from the good though.

They do provide us with a post office box at no charge but it does create confusion at times. When I give my address to anyone who wants a physical address I give them one but I also tell them that if they expect me to get mail from them they have to use the PO Box. I also use paperless billing from anyone who offers that option. Others I allow to deduct payment from my checking account. So far it’s worked 95% of the time but there are always exceptions.

I think banks hate RVers because if there was a default that makes collection necessary it creates a problem for them. In addition to being tougher to track somebody down, all states have different collections and banking regulations. Not saying it's fair, I just think that's the genesis of it.

The people that borrow money with a clear intent to not pay it back causes all the honest folks to suffer thru higher interest rates and more stringent loaning thresholds. Continue to laugh at the lenders, curse the enforcement people BUT be prepared if you ever need to borrow money.

You might want to add in your domicile section that if a person is on ssa only (I am single, I don't know the amount for married) you might be taken out of the highest tier, there are three) that the state will pay for your Part B. Since NM and AZ rate of living is very low, if your monthly income from SSA is over $1,000 month this could drop you out of that system and make you pay for Part B which is $148 month.

We went on our first RV trip. And I have to say I love it! Everything was awesome! I used a portable washer/ spinner and I am extremely impressed by how well it worked. Even those big beach towels were clean and nice. I bought a mini ninja to make my daily smoothies and it worked better than my big ninja back home. Everything we had been told to try worked amazing. I could definitely be a full time RVer, Back 6 years ago we bought land In Tennessee. Thinking that one day we might want to go full time and have that physical address to come home to. As yet that has not happened. But it was one of our reasons behind buying a few acres. I’m not giving up on the hope of being in our motorhome a lot more. I’m happy with our Tennessee address. But even with a permanent address the problem comes up when we need our mail held for long periods of time, I can’t imagine our little town of about 200 residents would want to hold our mail for months. Or forward it. it’s so good to have the knowledge of

The problem is having is when setting up a new bank account. Especially with a business banking account for a new business. I thought if I could get a drivers license and set up an LLC in a state with no challenge to show proof of address with a rent or utility bill then surely a business bank account will not be a problem. Well it was and now because I don’t have a physical address that I pay utility or rent/mortgage at I can’t even operate my business properly. I’m working through my options and any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. The banks won’t let you use a virtual or mailing service address to open the account with and you have to show a utility/ rent bill with business name along with the address on the bill.

Thank you for all you do. We very much enjoy your videos. Just in case it wasn’t clear to your listeners and to underscore the importance of choosing a mail service, it’s not just a mater of “forwarding” mail to the mail service. Yes, you would do that in the beginning but you have to change your mailing address with all of your vendors, corespondents, etc., even the IRS. This takes time! It took us almost a year to feel confident that we would receive all important mail. To have to redo this process again would not be fun! All of these mail service companies make mistakes. (Don’t we all) We’ve discovered that but as you’ve pointed out, some take more of a personal interest; some assume more responsibility than others. Thanks again!

We were lucky to have already lived in Crestview when we went full-time. We've been with MyRVmail for almost a year now and have nothing but the best to say about those folks. Like you've stated, they will make EVERY effort to figure out which mailbox the item is supposed to go to. There have been numerous times, especially when we first started changing our mail to the MyRV mail address, that had an incorrect/incomplete address and they would look it up and write the correct address on the envelope/address. We have yet to find any business that would not send our mail to the MyRVmail address, including Wells Fargo. Of course, our domicile/voting address is different than the MyRVmail address. Highly recommend MyRVmail!!

A place of residence is considered a location where you physically live. Dave's RV Life - he has a house and a garage. Well I don't really think banks hate rvers, but they don't like the situation some full timers put themselves into. Such as drivers license in one state, vehicle registrations in another, mail received in a 3rd state, etc. If I was looking over that loan application I would be leary also. We had all of our stuff ( address, registrations, DL's, insurance, voting, mail) through another famous mail forwarding service in FL and never had an issue. When we got around to buying a home in GA, no problem at all. Hope everything works out for you. Thanks for the video.

You don't know how shipping works! LOL If the company mailing your stuff has say Fedex account, they may have negotiated a set rate for a certain size box between this lb and this lbs. So they only use one size box. The monthly volume also affects the price negotiated. High volume = lower price.

I get so little mail since all bills are done online and paperless. If you don’t have online billing for every thing including insurance, then you need to buy a physical property or utilize the address of your nearest relative. But even then, they have to open your mail so you know what’s in it. During the transition to paperless, stray mail will still go through. I always check my bills online. You never know if automatic payments go thru. I have all bills automatically paid. There are a few exceptions so I instinctively know when they are due. You can use online banking to schedule payments. It’s funny that you don’t know this. I’ve been doing this for over 10 years. Use technology. It’s for the better.

We were told about banks not liking full timers but we are hoping not to need them except for direct deposits. We shall see… Thanks again for your information, we love your honesty!!

Quick question. Being a full time RVer, how would someone renew Driver License. DMV is strict on residency. All that documentation crap they require because of Real ID Act.

Good question as that real ID will be required in October of 2023, isn't that correct? That is something to ask My RV Mail and other services for domicile considerations!

My husband and I got our real ID when we're still in our sticks and bricks. When we went full time and changed our residency to SD We were issued a real ID driver's license. We need to return every 5 years to renew it.

You don’t need a real Id just use a passport.

I’m currently trying to decide where to domicile. Now I’m comfortable with my first choice of Florida. I love the panhandle.

Great timing on this video, myself and a couple of friends are looking at moving our domicile to South Dakota, we are all owner operators in the trucking business and have our personal stuff and businesses to move out of our current over taxed and ridiculous insurance rate state. We could save thousands of dollars a year by moving our address. None of us own any property due to divorces, we rent or stay with other family, as we are never really home anyway and basically live in our trucks, which is just like an RV without the plumbing, so why own a house? Anyone with any thoughts? I have already contacted SD in regards to licensing and all of that, it is just a matter of getting up there in the next few months as we are still researching the best mail/address outfit to go with.
