FINALLY someone on youtube doing a sound test of these switches, THANK YOU! Looks (and sounds) absolutely fantastic and I will get my hands on one very soon :)
I've had this keyboard for a couple of months now, and I love everything about it :) Can strongly recommend it to any gamer who likes fast key reactions!
The keyboard is one of the best out there, i have to admit. Great job to Corsair team. Pros: 1) Silent keys 2) Sexiest thing out there 3) I love the CUE (Corsair Utility engine). Since i have done some work before on editing videos, i find the engine software that drives this keyboard ingenious. It feels like Sony Vegas Pro.Although for many people who have no exp on editting videos, this CUE software will be a pain in the a$$. 4)True RGB for each individual key 5) Corsair lisstens to consumers and constantly improves 6) Many personalized profiles from users on Corsair forums to use 7) Side lightning is a bonus feature and i love it, very clever hidden lightning that adds up to the beauty of this keyboard. Cons: 1) the lights are not bright enough, but then again, are attractive and not disturbing to the eyes, therefore the LUX edition. 2) it is not for typing, as i tend to make manyu mistakes while doing so. The key gap is too small and the buttons are easy to press with no force, thus pushing extra button while trying to type is probably going to happen alot. Am not even sure if its suitable for gaming either, but for me it does its job well. 3) Huge thick cable making it hard to hide, althojugh it is understandable, since you need to put 2 usb cables together. 4) Price a bit on the high note, but if the product is worth the money and effort put on it, am all good. And the Strafe RGB keyboard is worth it. Thats all i can thing of so far. Again a big thank you to Corsair for producing and delivering a masterpiece! PS: the cons are not really cons, maybe features that need some more improvement.
Can you tell me how silent you personally feel it is? Considering buying but if its decently close to the two "non" silent in real life, I probably wont be going to
Ug.. You said "MX Cherry" about a billion fucking times in this review. Its "Cherry MX", Cherry being the company, and MX being the product line. What you were saying was the equivalent of saying "Windows Microsoft" or "Playstation Sony".
+tl;dr Christ I did not get paid to review this, that would be against TH-cam's guidelines and if this were a paid video, there would be no adds running before/during the video. Also, as for the comment of me not knowing the GSKill Keyboard you mentioned, I reviewed it a few weeks ago bud.
Easy fellas, even if frank gets paid I really don't care. He makes good video and I believe that He is and will continue to be honest with us, no matter who pays for what. Anyway frank I will be glad if you could add this keyboard to your comparative review list. Thank you both for your thoughts
***** but that's the job of the company to make it as simple as possible for their customers. Just look at Razer's Blackwidow Chroma wihich I think has the same customization possibilities as the k70 but the interface is MUCH MUCH simpler.
I just entered the world of keyboards recently, and honestly, im glad I did. your reviews have been extremely helpful when looking into peripherals for my computer :P
this keyboard seems like one of the best keyboards i ever seen : ) Its just a little bit more expensive than Razer blackwidow chroma but I think Its worth it!
I purchased the K95 RGB last May, and I couldn't be happier. My keyboard lighting is currently a jack-o-lantern with lightning in the background. I got the Browns, and I love the sound. Can't compare. Really helped with my typing, too. I was around 80 before, and now around 95. Pretty sweet.
Quality video...refreshing hearing someone with a good mic. Might just go have to order this! My MX Blues are ridiculous. Dont buy a keyboard before you know what the key colors mean, kids.
The MX Silent sold me immediately after i heard the comparison you did...my fiancée will forever thank Cherry for making a quieter keyboard!! Ordering now!
Just got mine with Cherry MX Silent and i gotta say after using Mx Blues for few months this thing is super quiet =) and shines like crazy even during the day...cant wait for the night show lul. Feels sturdy and durable is heavy does not budge at all and typing feels natural i recommend if you got the money and want a new rgb keyboard for gaming then this is the keyboard for you!
A "bit" late but... Isn't it suspicious cherry mx silent cost the same as the red?? Shouldn't the lower actuation be more expensive...? I dunno bit plz let me know if im stupid
I bought Strafe rgb RED, it was scratched on the top front left side above the Corsair logo. The store replaced it for me 3 times and 2 of them had the same scratch issues and also this damn annoying ping sound when I type with the keyboard.. Really corsair?? Take back every keyboard you ever made and fix that problem.. I sent back the bad keyboard for money back. Waiting for Corsair to fix this problem and then I can buy Strafe again.. But I am thinking about K70 RGB instead, it's made of aluminum.
Frank thank you so much, I'm planning on buying my first gaming pc in a day or two. I was planning on buying the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate until with it until I saw your review. I instantly ordered the Strafe and it happened to have a €30 discount. Thanks Frank! Keep up the good work
How the hell do you work this software??? I change the preset ( which comes as red) and tried to change it to rainbow color, which works but as soon as i close rhe app it goes back to stock red. Is this how its supposed to work??
Thank you so much Frank for this awesome review! Just picked up my Corsair Strafe RGB keyboard and I *****ing love it! My supplier ran out of Silent switches so I picked up the Red switches instead. Coming from a 2013 Razer Blackwidow with cherry mx Blue switches / Razer Synapse user and I got to say... you were right, the Corsair CUE software took me a while to get a hang of... that aside. I really am impressed! Thank you for this review! Looking forward to more awesome content from you.
+That Guy Over There About a month ago ive noticed my letter T key was "chattering" (double keypress). Doesnt happen all the time though. Whenever it does I just spray compressed air on the key switch and usually does the trick. Im guessing the problem is with the weak soldering, im not sure. Hasn't bothered me enough to rma it. Other than that the keyboard is doing great! No problems with any of the rgb leds (crossing my fingers) I would still get this keyboard given the choice again. 👍
For everyone wondering if they should get this keyboard over the k70/k95, The majority of people own K70/k95 so their comparison is a bit one sided so I decided I'd give the other side. I own this keyboard and I can say that I love it. It's very sturdy regardless of if it is made of aluminum or plastic. The plastic also stays cleaner longer. There are in fact media keys on this keyboard. Fn+f5 thru f12 do various things from volume control and video control. The silent switches are amazing too. All in all I love this thing and all Corsair keyboards are awesome and quality. Just find what you yourself look for in a keyboard from what its made out of to what it looks like and regardless of what you pick, you won't be disappointed.
Pro tip: Ordinary Rubber bands work as silencers too! I used 10mm ordinary rubberbands from the dollarstore and looped around the mounting on of each key - now its as silent as an ordinary keyboard and still as responsive as a mechanical. Its not for everyone, but try it! :)
+randomfrankp I don't know why, it's just the fact that it's not spinning on the middle it's to the side. it's a little frustrating but it makes for a nice camera shoot setup
It seems like he did, I agree. However, I have used both, and silent is really quite. I myself prefer normal mx cherry, though the noise of the blues is my favorite.
Ive had a bunch of Razer Products, some were fine but 2 of the Razer Controllers i bought both broke. The cable fell of, the LT button fell of. Controller stopped working. And no, I did not smash them in the wall or in the table.
Silent sounds nice. I had to take my Corsair keyboard to the home office because I think it would have driven my colleagues insane with its typing sounds :D
The backlighting on this keyboard looks so much better than on the K70. I am also glad that the one you are giving away has browns since the keyboard I am using has browns and I really like them.
Ive own more than 20 mechanical keyboard for the past 8yrs and Corsair Strafe RGB is one of the most gorgeous and vibrant color not to mention it has a differrent variant Cherry MX (red) (brown) (silent) (blue) Any one whos looking for MKB linear and vibrant color u should check this keyboard.. bang for the buck!
randomfrankp you inspired me to give this keyboard a chance. It's my first mechanical keyboard and I am really glad you do the sound tests. But yea yea it doesn't make me cringe
thanks for this review. was going to go with the silent, but will save some cash and go with brown. not a huge difference in sound, but about $30 in price. much appreciated, sir.
Very nice keyboard. I've always wanted a nice silent mechanical keyboard, and now I've just ordered this exact model. Truly happy that Corsair has realized that some people want silent gaming equipment. My reason is my wife and my kid. :-) Looking forward to a future silent gaming mouse.
That’s the keyboard I am going for but haven’t decided because keyboards are very expensive well at least one like that, that I want. Been working non stop to try to buy it for myself to build my pc! Love your video though keep up the great work brotha!
I have been waiting for this to be released. Been checking out every possible RGB keyboard since they started to appear, and all of them have had flaws that just turned me off. Corsair seemed to be the only real option and I figured I had to wait for the Kxx line to be upgraded, to see if they got it right next time. Then I heard about the Strafe RGB and I had a strong feeling this would be the one that got it right, and I see that randomfrankp agrees. Definitely getting this. Quality "spongey" wrist rest, bright lights and best light customization software on the market, USB passthrough, silent switches. Clearly way better than enduring the flickering and dim lights on the Kxx line. Incidentally, you are my favorite reviewer on youtube and I like you even more now that I see you have great taste as well ;)
frank, how do you like the new strafe so far. ive had mine about a week now and I love it. I did an updated K70 vs Strafe video the other day maybe you could watch it if you get a chance bud
While the Keyboard looks very clean and the functionality of the Lighting System is in constant revisions through Feedback of the Community, the one big thing I did notice on their Forums is that some folks were complaining about the key coating "flaking" or "wearing out" within the first couple of months, almost weeks of use. I've done a lot of reading and on various keyboards with mechanical switches and the Corsair K Series has been one of the few I've been seriously eyeballing. But I'm concerned about quality control as I really don't want to throw almost $200 at an RGB keyboard with a high risk of users reporting LEDs crapping out or their key surfaces flaking off. I'd really like to hear from other users who currently have any of the K Series and get their honest take of the Keyboard as I'm still sitting on the fence about it. Good or bad, I'll take everything with a measure of consideration. Thanks!
+HarrisonRBLX You probably want Blues. I have this with the traditional red switches. For games they are great as they are super sensitive and linear, making your WASD movement smoother and more accurate. It also makes it much easier to accidentally be pressing the key without realizing it.
+Jacob Smits I have two keyboards, one for home, and one for my workplace. I have Reds at home (K70) and an Azio MGK1-K (Kailh Browns). I play CS:GO both at home and during my lunch break, and I have to say, it's a big difference. The Reds aren't nearly as good for typing (though they will still beat rubber domes), but for FPS gaming, where you must sit on a set of keys for very long like WASD, I actually prefer the Reds. But both switches are great :D
+Huy Vu The reds are great for gaming all together! I don't have much trouble while coding or typing something up though either, even with the angled keys swapped out that I like to use for gaming. Like I said, the only thing that I screw up is a tendency to be accidentally pressing the key without knowing, especially when I'm tired and my hands are getting heavy. Also, I love the textured feel of the wrist rest and the swappable keys!
I'm still confused by the ad listings on Amazon, but especially on Newegg. They all still say Cherry MX Red, but the title sometimes does or doesn't say the "Silent" part. Any insight to this before I hassle with customer service? Im probably getting a gift card for xmas, otherwise I would go straight to Corsair's site.
+MatthewStout Definitly Go right to corsair at this point. Its what i did, try to trade your gift card to a friend with a generic MasterCard Visa one. I'm not sure how reliable some amazon sellers are if you end up with switches your don't want.
4:43 Sound test part to skip to.
Thanks. This was the point
THANK YOU
thank you man
sound test: 4:43
Thank you. I don't understand why youtubers need a 10 minute review for a single keyboard.
Thanx! Thats the only interesting thing in this video
Thank !
Can you still add o-rings to this keyboard?
yeah I mean I love the sound of mechanical keyboard, I just dont think my roomates would enjoy it, especially with the odd hours i keep

Mikkel Winther very very quiet honestly sounds more quiet than my membrane keyboard
Hey it's way quieter than those crunchy ass razer keyboards xD
You can increase the brightness btw
con: pewdiepie uses it so you cant make a keyboard and mouse sounds video without getting yelled at buy 9yos
Ug.. You said "MX Cherry" about a billion fucking times in this review. Its "Cherry MX", Cherry being the company, and MX being the product line. What you were saying was the equivalent of saying "Windows Microsoft" or "Playstation Sony".

+evil-doer lol, it hurt every time he said that. No one says it like that! :)
Wow you roasted him
Lol dude I just noticed that, and you don't have to be so harsh about it!!
+evil-doer I'm hungry, I am going to get some dessert - I was thinking of Pie Cherry
BUT....CAN IT TAKE ON THE IBM MODEL M?
And im sitting here on a couch with my $10 keyboard and 2010 microsoft mouse
EDIT: It's ok guys I got a Corsair M65 mouse now.

Are you like Pewdiepie or something...
Killer Keemstar yeah nobody really cares
So , K-70 RGB or Strafe RGB ?? which one to choose ??? +randomfrankp ??
Thanks for your advice but this keyboard that you mentioned was not on the comparison list
Hah, is it true frank??
Seriously??!!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to win this keyboard. :D
Still gonna go for the k70 RGB. My Non-RGB k70 has served me well but I think the time for an upgrade is coming,
I've heard that the RGB customization interface is a mess
+Henry Montero It's not so much a mess as it is complicated. Then again, anyone can use it if they just google how.
***** but that's the job of the company to make it as simple as possible for their customers. Just look at Razer's Blackwidow Chroma wihich I think has the same customization possibilities as the k70 but the interface is MUCH MUCH simpler.
+Henry Montero but much much less customation
Martin Aun well I honestly have never owned any RGB keyboard since I'm new to pc gaming
Man these reviews and keyboards have changed XD. Watching this after 7 years when I bought the keyboard after watching this review.
is it possible to lower the light of the RGB ? (sorry for my blyat english)
yeah its possible
Yes (sorry for bad engrish)
Nova's Hairdo It's okay (Bad for my sorry English)
Serious Gaming shut the luck up (sorry for bad grammer)enlkklgish**
God you guys are cringy
I just entered the world of keyboards recently, and honestly, im glad I did. your reviews have been extremely helpful when looking into peripherals for my computer :P
this keyboard seems like one of the best keyboards i ever seen : ) Its just a little bit more expensive than Razer blackwidow chroma but I think Its worth it!
Been looking all over for a new keyboard. This is by far the best, can't wait!!
Corsair makes such good peripheral boxes.
4:44 Typing Sound Test for the Cherry MX switches
Quality video...refreshing hearing someone with a good mic. Might just go have to order this! My MX Blues are ridiculous. Dont buy a keyboard before you know what the key colors mean, kids.
why couldn't they put mx silent on the k65? and why not feature a white backplate...
I like the drop test in the last minute of your video :)
Where's the volume control? Damnit!
Indeed! Why is it such a taboo to add discrete buttons for volume!?
Marcus Larsson Those keys are used with the function key + F5, F7 and F8, no dedicated keys unfortunately.
Is it too much to ask for to have a volume knob?
And bluetooth would be cool too
The MX Silent sold me immediately after i heard the comparison you did...my fiancée will forever thank Cherry for making a quieter keyboard!!
Ordering now!
Frank could you do the Corsair Strafe RGB vs the Corsair Vengeance k70 RGB?
That is cool aswell, but everyone is whining about this and the Corsair Vengeance k70. I am curious aswell what Frank will say :)
Agreed! I still don't like the plastic on the Strafe but you if you just take good care of your equipment it will be fine.
Marlon v. Dam is it still going strong?
Just got mine with Cherry MX Silent and i gotta say after using Mx Blues for few months this thing is super quiet =) and shines like crazy even during the day...cant wait for the night show lul.
Feels sturdy and durable is heavy does not budge at all and typing feels natural i recommend if you got the money and want a new rgb keyboard for gaming then this is the keyboard for you!
Mini Piez it doesnt flex much?
Can you sync it to music and have the colors change based on the song?
+cutie patootie Yup! There are equalizer modes people have made!
Nice! Thanks for the reply man, love your vids!
Just want to let you know your reviews are very good and very helpful so thank you
how silent will the keyboard be if you add o-rings to it? :D
Ratzer Too quiet, you wouldn't notice if you missed a key 😂
A "bit" late but...
Isn't it suspicious cherry mx silent cost the same as the red??
Shouldn't the lower actuation be more expensive...?
I dunno bit plz let me know if im stupid
You stretching this video out to 10 minutes is evident and annoying. Just test how quiet they are instead of repeating yourself
Tyrelle Davenport he needs the extra ad revenue, all of his videos are barely over 10 mins
chris08091 I understand that. But making a 10 minute video off of 4 minute material is not ideal. Just a waste of my time.
Tyrelle Davenport 4 minutes? Hell no
"And now we're gonna test the sound of the keyboard" 2 min later and he's still talking. lol
Excellent and very informative video! Also, the quality of your video is about the best that I have seen on TH-cam! Thank You.
2:48 That looks unbeliabale. Wow. :)
You make amazingly quality videos! Have a subscriber.
Im getting this today!!

Thank you so much Frank for this awesome review!
Just picked up my Corsair Strafe RGB keyboard and I *****ing love it! My supplier ran out of Silent switches so I picked up the Red switches instead.

min 1:31 bad delete button look that is not printed propperly
not printed, rather that the black matte coating on the keycap is removed there using a laser - keycap was probably misaligned somehow.

Yes.

Hello from 2019!!
Thank you for making a video randomfrankp
anyone else pissed off by the keyboard on behind him spinning in a rainbow uncalibrated?
+MubaCraftMC Probably not
+randomfrankp I don't know why, it's just the fact that it's not spinning on the middle it's to the side. it's a little frustrating but it makes for a nice camera shoot setup
+MubaCraftMC the point where it's spinning I mean
+MubaCraftMC ikr
+MubaCraftMC what? most rgb keyboards i've seen can do that.
Another great video. Again improving video quality. Nice!
Bullshit, you bottomed out those Reds and you barely tapped on the silents.
It seems like he did, I agree.
However, I have used both, and silent is really quite.
I myself prefer normal mx cherry, though the noise of the blues is my favorite.
Just bought this keyboard yesterday along with the M65 Pro mouse, definitely worth it !
A real man doesn't use backlight

Bought the MX Red version just cause of your review.. Thanks bro, subscribed..
Strafe is SICK kb btw
It Looks allmost 1:1 like The Razer blackwidow chroma... And has silent keys... Srsly?
+lxnus | Sub/Comment Account Razer fanboy... Atleast Corsair doesnt break like razer plastic shit.

Fuck off, I was talking about Razer in general. and how their products are plastic, and bad made.
Just picked this up for $100!!! Very excited!

Incidentally, you are my favorite reviewer on youtube and I like you even more now that I see you have great taste as well ;)
Great video Frank.
I was pretty sure I wanted this keyboard before but your video sold me on it. :-)
man those keyboard is like a dream that comes true
frank, how do you like the new strafe so far. ive had mine about a week now and I love it. I did an updated K70 vs Strafe video the other day maybe you could watch it if you get a chance bud
Great video! You aswered all the questions I had with this keyboard. Thank you very much!
Thanks!
Great review as always! I'm looking into getting one of these.
Thanks as always for your awesome reviews! :)
About the Cherry MX Silent switches, do they have a tactile actuation point? Can you feel when you've actuated the key? +randomfrankp
Great review! Keep up the good work
I have this keyboard and I have had it for a year and I love it. Highly recommend the noise is not obnoxious like other keyboards by corsair
I have a newer version
Great quality video. keeps me coming back to check details and good for the eyes. Thanks

Love the videos Frank keep it up :))
are the led´s different than the k70 rgb led´s or is it just because of the white plate?
Do those Silent switches work like the normal reds?
Me think a so
I'm still confused by the ad listings on Amazon, but especially on Newegg. They all still say Cherry MX Red, but the title sometimes does or doesn't say the "Silent" part. Any insight to this before I hassle with customer service? Im probably getting a gift card for xmas, otherwise I would go straight to Corsair's site.
+MatthewStout Only Corsair and Best Buy sell the silent switches as far as I know.
+randomfrankp Good to know...thanks man!
+MatthewStout Definitly Go right to corsair at this point. Its what i did, try to trade your gift card to a friend with a generic MasterCard Visa one. I'm not sure how reliable some amazon sellers are if you end up with switches your don't want.
I got this keyboard in browns... Best keyboard I've ever used
