I'm busy getting my house and pantry organized after the summer of renovations! Hopefully I can finally start to get back to normal and focus on SAVING MONEY and coming up with more creative BUDGET MEAL IDEAS using up what I have available. The budget is very tight at the moment and I've had some unexpected challenges lately!! Thank you all for being here watching!🧡
I love baked oatmeal and make a batch almost every week. I’m lazy and only use one bowl and switch up the flavors. My favorite for fall is pumpkin, dried cranberries and pecans. Yum!
Blueberry crisp with the frozen blueberries, oats and thicken with the minute tapioca. Great breakfast or dessert with some ice cream or whipped cream.
I was going to say the same thing. I tried to look on the internet but I swear I have tapioca for a blueberry pudding my mom used to make that is like a crisp but it has a biscuit top. I looked online and it looks like blueberry pudding cake.
I make a lite dessert called Sunbeam Tapioca by Dr McDougall when I’m trying to eat lighter. 4TB Tapioca 1 cup pineapple juice 1 cup Orange juice 1TB lemon juice 1/2 cup drained mandarin oranges 1 cup drained pineapple bits Combine Tapioca with pineapple and orange juice bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add lemon juice Cool stirring occasionally then add fruit and refrigerate for several hours. It’s not overly sweet but refreshing in the summer
I currently work with a young Philipino guy who is really into Asian cuisine. He brought in a desert called Mango Sago that has tapioca in it. Not sure if you have all the ingredients or the right ingredients, but I have a feeling you'd enjoy it! I've been making an "unstuffed pepper" dish that my husband and daughter really enjoy. I saute onions and pepper, then add a can of black beans, taco seasoning and maybe a 1/4 to 1/2cup of water. Simmer until beans soften, then add cooked rice and plain tomato sauce or a can of tomatoes to make it a bit more saucy. Serve plain or with grated cheese on top, if you have it. Very simple, but a very flavourful bean dish. Maybe you could make some bannock with the whole wheat flour to go with the bean soup!
Neighbor gave me a wheel barrow of squash. Froze some. Canned some. Made bread and pie. Looked to see what else I could make. Tried the no bake bars but it didn't set up. I think I'm going to melt some chocolate chips and add it. Also, instead of oat flour, I used cheerios.
Hi Jessica, you could do pulled pork porkroast fairly neutral and chunky and then turn it into mexican meat, bbq meat and asian meat like (dutch) babi pangang with atjar (asian cole slaw). The mexican version would be good in a casserol dish layerd like a lasagne with your small tortillas. Greetings from Germany 😊🙃😊

You did good with the name. (Mail-key). I vaguely remember that soup. I believe you made sandwich and soup with it. Not completely sure. It’s been awhile since you made it. It’s soup season! Lots of beans and lentils in your pantry for soups. Maybe whole wheat homemade crackers or even pasta. Those salad dressings are good marinade sauces. Great video! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! 💙💚🧡❤️🩷🦋🦋🦋
Hello Jessica! My three tomato plants that I have nursed all summer have lots of green tomatoes…no ripe ones..and we leave tomorrow for five weeks lol.
@@JessicaWanders I’m wondering if I could put them in the fridge to ripen and they’ll be ready in five weeks. Afraid to have them go rotten in the fridge while we’re gone.
I'm not sure. Things definitely slow down in the fridge but I've never tried to do that...If you give it a try you'll have to let me know how it worked out!
my favorite recipe for Tapioca is Bachelor Beef stew but would have worked great to thicken up that gravy or anything else. Bachelor Stew From the Kitchen of: Rival Crock-Pot cookbook Ingredients: 2 lb. Beef Chuck 1/3 cup dry bread crumbs 1 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 1 teaspoon leaf basil 1/3 cup quick-cooking tapioca 1 can (4 oz.) sliced mushrooms or stems & pieces 2 cans (10 3/4 oz. each) condensed Tomato soup 1 cup beef broth or water 1 large onion, cut into eighths 3 carrots pared, split lengthwise and cut into slices 4 celery stalks, cut into 1-inch pieces 3 potatoes peeled and sliced into pieces 1 teaspoon Worchester sauce or Kitchen Bouquet Recipe instructions: Wipe beef cubes well. Combine bread crumbs with salt, pepper and toss with beef. (If you have an Instant Pot I would brown the beef cubes it does have a richer favor with the cubes browned). Place coated beef cubes in Crock Pot and other ingredients; stir well. Cover and cook on Low setting for 10 to 12 hours. (on high 3 to 4 hours). I like to put it together in the evening and let it cook all night.
INDIAN NATIVE AMERICAN RECIPE CHIPPEWA INDIAN FRY BREAD Serves: Prep time: Cook time: Dry ingredients: Mix: 2 1/2 cups flour 1 1/2 Tbsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt Liquid ingredients: Mix: 3/4 cup warm water 1 Tbsp. dry milk 1 Tbsp oil Combine liquid and dry ingredients, stirring 'til smooth. Knead 4 to 5 times. Let rest 10 minutes. Form into 8 balls: flatten to 8 to 10 inch rounds. Make a hole in the center of each round (the legend is that the hole is put in the center of the bread to let the evil sprits out) Lightly flour each round and stack and cover. Heat 1 inch of oil in skillet . Cook one at a time for 1 to 2 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towel or rack. We like to brown ground beef or sausage and onion and put on top and top with cut-up tomatoes and lettuce. For sweet you can sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar! I always laugh out loud when you say “they’ll be fine “
Gotta keep a positive attitude! LOL

That sounds like an awesome combination! YUMMY :D
Ooh...a way to use up squash!
Blueberry crisp with the frozen blueberries, oats and thicken with the minute tapioca. Great breakfast or dessert with some ice cream or whipped cream.
That would work nicely! YUM 😋

that roast beef dinner looked amazing
It was tasty! :D
That baked oatmeal looks so good.
It was super tasty!
Roast beef looked really great.
So good! Lota of meals too :D
Just a thought. I make pie fillings using Minut Tapioca and then I freeze the results to use in pies or crisps.
That's smart! I'm always trying to find ways to make things ahead of time :) I've tried it in cherry pie filling like that :D

So glad you finally made baked oatmeal!
It is amazing with ground cherries!
So good! I was thinking it'd be good with the ground cherries!! :D
Happy thanksgiving
Thank you! 🦃

I’ll have to check out the mango sago and maybe finally get around to some unstuffed peppers! 🫑 Sounds lovely 😊
The baked oatmeal looks fab. It would be divine with a dollop of Greek yoghurt! ❤
Yum! That sounds great :)
Had a chuckle when you said with the salad, “and it has feta which I didn’t grow.”
My brain was like “a feta plant?” 😂
Wouldn't that be awesome?!
Thanks 😊
Welcome 😊
Tapioca can be used to thicken stew
I haven’t tried that. Interesting idea. I’ll have to remember that 👍🙂

Neat! I have a bunch of squash coming in too! I'm thinking soup maybe? Chocolate chips are better in everything :P
Sometimes minit tapioca is used to thicken up slow cooker recipes, even savoury dishes
Interesting! I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the tip :) I've only ever used it in cherry pie filling before.
All the food looks yummy! For the gravy, I think a cornstarch slurry would’ve thickened up more than the flour and pretty quickly
I agree about the cornstarch! Would have been quicker when I was being impatient :P
Muy buen video
Thank you! :D

Great ideas!!
Thousand island.. so good on turkey sandwiches (instead of mayo). Or mix with apricot jelly, lipton onion soup mix and bake chicken wings in it.
Thanks for the tips for Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches! ;)
Happy Thanksgiving 🇨🇦❤️
Thank you Cathy! Stay tuned for next week's video when I do Thanksgiving with what I have in the house LOL Happy Holidays to you and yours as well :D
I have a bag of the 16 bean mix and was thinking of making vegetarian bean burgers with them. Will be a fun experiment.
Ohh make the patties out of them! Could work 👍😎

I'm working on using pumpkin puree. I think I'm making a no bake pumpkin bars. Sounds yummy anyway.
That sounds interesting Helen! I do have some squashes coming out of the garden and some in the freezer too!
The greek feta and oregano dressing you could use most of it up on a pasta salad.
Great idea! Pasta salad isn’t my favourite so I never think of it but Mr. Wanders likes it! Might have to give it a try 👍😀 Thanks for the suggestion.
@@JessicaWanders then just make it for him and you eat something else that he doesn't like. 😅
