I love this video because: 1) there's no intro clip 2) there's no music 3) you get started right away 4) you know what you're doing Thanks for the great tutorial, man! I subscribed 👍
I actually really like how you show no one is perfect and everyday problems happen to you as well. You got a subscriber for actually breaking that piece of trim!
I love that the video shows how it works in the real world - you know that the first thing that will happen is that a piece will break! Definitely going to try doing this myself now, it looks easy (she says...)
you are the best contractor trainer. I am a home inspector. I have watched your videos on window, vinyl siding and many other installations. all your procedures are based on the most textbook guidelines without any short-cut . 💯👍 I know there are many contractor youtubers with more than a million subscribers but after watching some of their videos, i noticed that they make short-cuts in different installations that can raise any home inspector red flag. I hope to see more videos from you.
I am sorry if my question is not related to your videos. I just wanted to ask my question in the comments. As a general rule I know that the drywalls should not be tight in place and recommendation is to consider 1/4 inch short but I don’t know how in practice! For example in ceiling: Must the first sheet be tight against the corner or considered 1/4 inch gap against the corner? What about the next sheet beside it? And the last sheet on ceiling? And the then after hanging on ceiling, the same questions for walls? Would you please explain me or if you have a video about it, refer it to me? Thanks
Be sure to watch to 10:08 for the best new tip I saw when reviewing baseboard videos. Overall, great video, but once he gets through with the main gist you are tempted to cut out before the end. The tip about using the big bar underneath was worth watching to the end. [Except for YT's 3rd ad near the end, but hopefully they give this guy something for it.]
Thank you for this video. I really like how thoroughly, yet simply, you explained how to remove baseboards. And thanks for not having some kind of annoying music playing over your voice. Really appreciate the simple, yet effective production!
Followed your video and no breakage. Removed the baseboards and left the drywall intact. Thanks so much!!! I had to go out and buy that scraper / pull bar. Very helpful tool.
Thank you! I approached my baseboards with crowbar in hand, stopped, thought, "I should watch a TH-cam video, first." You saved not only our wall, but I was able to save my baseboard for future use! Thank you!
Hello, Shannon. You are so helpful, knowledgeable, and likeable. I always tell my women friends who are trying to do a repair to go on TH-cam and find home improvement videos by men who are Canadian, not U.S. men, because I have found you all are so community minded, kind, and generous. I found your channel today, and you have proven and reinforced that observation.
Nice tip with using a small scrap of wood to protect the wall. Last weekend I removed the baseboards in my foyer and kitchen in preparation to install vinyl floors. I used a tool called the Zenith trim puller that I found extremely useful. Unfortunately for me, the prior homeowners used the wrong nail type when they installed the trim so I had to be extra careful so as not the break the baseboards in half. Somehow only one small corner piece broke in half.
Very useful video. I thought I knew what I was doing, but realized SOMEONE can probably show me how to do it faster, more cleanly, and in most concise way. Thanks!
I'm just a homeowner trying to get a paint match for baseboards. Excellent video!!! Very worth my time to watch. Earned you a like and subscription in under 12 minutes, that's got to be a record. Excellent clear, efficient teaching. Sending blessings! 😇
Thank you for the informative video. I would like to remove my baseboards before changing the flooring, and I feel much more confident doing this now. I like the labeling system too. “Porcupine of a baseboard” was a cute comment. I like that you use a scrap board as leverage to protect the drywall when prying the baseboard.
Lots of billiant tips that will surely save time and frustration. Also, I love tutorials like this that get right down to it without all the hype. Thank you for making this. It's really helpful.
What a great video. The explanations about what to do and not to do are really helpful. As someone who didn't know how to remove a baseboard without damaging the walls, I feel more able to do it because of this video. Thank you.
Thank you! This video helped me understand how to take my time and remove the trim properly. I was going to use all quarter trim after installing new click and lock flooring. After spending $101 on two 10 by 10 rooms just for the quarter trim I about passed out. It would cost me over $1,000 if I needed to do this in all the rooms after floor upgrades. Now I'm going to remove the trim, install the floor then put the trim back on. Thank you for the tips. Wish me luck! 5 more rooms to go!
I love the tip to remove nails as you go. Marking wall and piece will pay off. No music made me happy. I enjoyed your casual approach rather than the exhausting teach tone. I subscribed!
Going to watch this a few more times over as I mentally prepare to do this to the base boards in my bathroom! Going to be doing a little renovation in there and I feel 10x more prepared now that I watched this video 🙌🏼
Excellent tips… I’ve done this numerous times over the years but using this as a refresher I picked up a lot about three things that I didn’t know thank you
Great video, watched right before i moved some baseboards to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Removed them cleanly, with no damage to the boards or to the drywall.
I found using end nippers to remove the nails is easier and results in less damage to either the wall or the molding. The end nippers have a large rounded surface to spread the load out. I used to twist the pliers but it was difficult to do and caused damage. Even my kids and wife found the end nippers very easy to use. Just started using the slim bar which works so much better than the bar I used before. Great video and Thanks
Funny enough, I was going to say something similar. I hope I don't have to remove the baseboards for my project. But I watched just in case. And now I know how if I do.
No fluff! Clear and informative instructions ❤ I subscribed to your channel since the pandemic (perhaps the only good thing came out of the pandemic). I have learned a lot from you. Thanks! Can you show me how to replace a session of the baseboard without taking the whole piece off the wall? How to cut the damaged piece? Thanks!
@@HouseImprovements I am truly honored to receive a response from you. Thank you so much for your time. I wasn't aware of the forum-would it be possible for me to join from New Zealand?

Hey, great vid thanks! We are putting down some flooring soon and I need to remove the boards for this, so thanks. Could you also maybe do a video on making space under the door jamb to fit the flooring? They go right to the slab and we need to get the flooring under it!
Awesome video. slightly late but again in my case it was much more complicated as I have had thicker nails. I would not make using one tool. I used 2 crowbars like yours heavy and few more things to help. My problem was nails were 45 degrees so it was required to push off the wall and from the floor. But still same technic used wooden thing to avoid damaging
great audio, there is no echo, you understand how to mike the video. And, great video. Good lighting. What was that thin tool called that you used? I need to buy one...

Agreed!
The Canadian accent is a nice touch too
I also like that he shows when things dont go the way you want them to or over exaggerate how easy it is by starting somewhere other than the corner.

Yes, that's what I thought too. After all those things are going to happen in real life situations, may as well include them to show it's ok
I love that the video shows how it works in the real world - you know that the first thing that will happen is that a piece will break! Definitely going to try doing this myself now, it looks easy (she says...)

Great video! Another tip: If you break a piece, don't throw it away. Keep it to make it easier to measure the replacement you'll have to cut later.
💯
You can wood glue it back together too if it's small.
Thank you! Wicked smart.

The video was perfect. I had no problems to remove the baseboards.
This was VERY helpful. My project requires I take a portion of a wall so I can flush a bookcase to the wall. Thank you for sharing.
Great advise thanks ripping up rugs to install flooring!! appreciate it
Such a good idea using the wood to lever the board without damaging the wall
Thanks,! Your video was very helpful; thanks for walking through the process slowly with details!

Yes they do work well also.
