Some day I will have a M :-) . I use the M model air filters on my X5 F15 5.0i as they have more surface area and fit in the 5.0i . Thanks for the great videos!

My 2014 BMW X50i with 85Kmi on the N63TU engine failed CA idle smog test due to failed valve stem seals. The issue is covered in a class action lawsuit Isley v. BMWNA. BMW policy is to change the engine out for a refurb and my portion of that work would be $8K. Instead, I elected to pay Rich at Performance Motorwerk in Dublin CA do the work using the superb AGA N63TU tool set. Elring gaskets and seals are the best choice and can be bought from FCP Euro in CT. I may be among the first to be affected by this problem on the N63TU since smog tests are not needed during the first six years of a car’s life. It’s not a question of IF but WHEN this will happen to all N63TU S63TU engines, so be forewarned.
I appreciate this video. How do you remove the air filter housing/airbox itself to access the boost pressure sensors? Racechip is requesting this to send me the correct piggyback with the correct plug type(Type A: 4720, Type B: 8722).
There are two torx bolts underneath where the filters sit in the box, then you’ll have to disconnect the airflow sensors (two torx bolts on either side) and loosen the clamps around the air hoses with a flat head screwdriver, then pull up and slightly towards the front of the car, the plastic thing with the triangle warning label is held into the airbox with two circular rubber joints
@@rinugeorge8024 Yes!! This worked! I was finally able to remove the airbox and painstakingly find the booster pressure sensor!

I’m not sure since it’s all CBS. I decided to don’t since I have 60k on the odometer. They weren’t as dirty as I was expecting since I’ve been driving through a lot of smoke due to wildfires.
Maybe every 30k.
It didn't look dirty till it was next to the new one good to know..

I been trying to find a cold air intake for the f15 x5 50i and i been watching all your videos so you seem very knowledgeable about the platform. Are 50i and x5m parts interchangeable cause i been looking at the dinan or arms motorsports intake. Please help
Most 50i and X5M parts are interchangeable because they are similar engines.
The internals of the M is what makes the difference.
I have the 2019 BMW X5 50i. This looks nothing like it the filters or engine you are showing. The air filters look like trapezoids, not circular. Which air filters should I get? Can you do a video on the BMWs 2019 x5 50i and current?
This video is for X5 and X6 with the N63/S63tu engines.
Your 2019 has the N63Tu3 which has a slightly different redesign.
@@eddiemcars OK. Thank you. Seems like the auto parts stores are confused also. They keep showing the circular filter too as well as the trapezoid filters. Do you know which part # would fit mine? I cant seem to find clear indications online. Also, the filters are buried in the back of the engine and a little more difficult to get too. Seems like I need to remove the strut bars to get to them.

I’m unfamiliar with that because I don’t have one available to try right now.
Its the same steps but the filter is slightly smaller. You can use the M model filters which can help a boosted vehicle or the stock ones.
