Hey Scott, I ended up getting 2 ion pros. One was from a have a ball league and the other was one that i bought because i didn't want to redrill the original. One is pin up and the other is pin down. I never had them in the same bag but yesterday during my Monday night men's league, i decided to try out both. I started with the pin down ion pro for the first game and part of the 2nd. By the third game, i got into the pin up ion pro and shot a 277. I might keep both in the bag for the higher friction houses i bowl at.
@ScottAndersonBowling I agree. My bag right now is pin down and pin ion pro, dna coil and the road. I bowl at one house that has a lot of oil and I can't use my ion pros there. I take both of those out and bring the harsh reality and phaze 2.
Hey Scott, great video! I currently have a pin down Ion which I love but I'm tempted to get another one and go pin up, to use when i need to move abit deeper in. But I'm sure whether to or not lol I know it's not black and white but do you think I'd see much of a difference?
@@MrHerbster28 I can see a difference in the way it exits the pin deck for sure. If you want more of a gap and noticeable difference, I’d consider going with something like an Attention Star to move left and wheel it.
@@ScottAndersonBowling I do like the look of the attention star, but I want a benchmark ball. The Ion is awesome pin down, but wanna be able to stay in abit longer
Hey Scott! I found you through Charles videos. I have a question for you about pin down. As someone that’s trying to learn how to play up 5-15 board, would a pin down layout help me achieve that easier? I’m new to bowling. I’m a 2 handed righty. All my current balls are pin up & I’d like to add some diversity to my bag.
I wouldn’t say pin-down because layouts aren’t the same for you as they are for me, but yes, lower pins would help even out the reaction and keep you further right longer.
Hi Scott, quick question. I noticed by watching all your videos that you have a short, quick, compact swing that is not lacking in the least in power/revs. Has that always been your natural style or did you consciously work on keeping the back swing only hip height? If you did work on it, how did you accomplish that?
It’s an evolution through time. I started normal with finger tip but I used to hit the ball too much. I’m a conventional grip now with grips and it’s helped tame things down a bit believe it or not. I’ve always adapted my game and my fit to fill the voids necessary for me to be successful.
I see the difference in motuon and have a question. Do you usually use a common layout and play it based on lane conditions or prefer two different layouts to get different hook windows. See you on the channel and your game is very simple with not lots of moving parts. Great content. Keep it coming.
Great question! These are my two go to layouts and I usually put the lower pin on the stronger stuff and the higher pin on the pearl and weaker stuff to help bridge the gap between them.
You're videos have all been great. You're doing an awesome job.
Thank you sir!
I thank you again Scott. Great commentary/demonstration and explanation as usual. Keep them coming.🤙🏿🤙🏿💯💯
Appreciate the feedback!
I really appreciate the content of your videos. Subscribed!
@@apd0327 thanks a bunch! I appreciate you!
Awesome video. I drilled mine pin down.
I’ve been using the pin down one more often it seems. Do you love it?

It KIND OF DOES. But I agree, the practice does does help!

@@masterj92 my MAIN bag right now is plastic and my 2 Ion Pro’s. I think it’s a great decision because I feel one of them will always work!

Did you bowl nationals this year? If so how did you do and which type of ball did you like most?
I already bowled and believe it or not I used Urethane for all 9 games and shot 2006 for all-events.
Scott. I just got the Ion Pro yesterday. I bowl in a Tuesday night league w 14 teams. I am thinking of drilling it pin up. Thoughts?
@@stragum5683 pin up is going to be better if you have a higher ball speed and want to throw it for a longer period of time.

Scott for a 2hander with 18.5 launch speed at 500 rpm, would you recommend a high flare or lower flare layout? Thanks in advance
Higher flare 100%
@@ScottAndersonBowling thanks for replying!
Do you think the ion took the place of the idle in your bag? If so, why.
@@hollomancharles no the Idol is still a stronger overall ball. Both fit the benchmark criteria though. One just needs a little more oil to perform.

I see you used ur middle finger throwing a bowling ball . I used my top two fingers . Should I change my form and use my middle finger throw it ?
The proper finger are the middle finger and ring finger.
What weight do you throw?
15 lbs
Is the ion so far your favorite ball?
I think Attention Star is still my “favorite” but that doesn’t mean I think it’s the best.

sup scott! nice shooting. random but don’t ever deep clean your bowling balls or nah

Remember for years when misinformed proshops said pin down hooked earlier and pin up balls went longer? Sheer ignorance
It’s just crazy how advancements in technology have changed “common knowledge” over the years.
