In the countdown to his final curtain call on October 10th, 2004, Ken Caminiti, a 41-year-old with a penchant for life's wild ride, made a dramatic exit from the Harris County Jail in Houston.
Now, it was earlier in 2001, that Ken first stepped into the spotlight of legal scrutiny for possessing less than a gram of cocaine. But fast forward through the rest of his life, and you'll find that this was no one-hit wonder. Four times he found himself in the probationary crosshairs, each occasion flashing the neon sign of a drug test gone awry.
And you're left to wonder how the 1996 NL MVP became a victim of drug abuse, steroids, time in prison, and even ended up dead!

Back in the mid 90’s we had season tickets for our Padres & were so excited when Finley & Caminiti came over from Houston. Soon enough, the Padres were a much better team winning the NL West & going to the World Series.
Cammie was my favorite Padre & in person, was very humble & signed many autographs for me. In 2011, I adopted a 2 year old dog & named her Cammie. Today she is over 15 years old & his memories lives on in our home. RIP Cammie & thank you for always playing so hard.

As a kid growing up in the 90’s there was nobody who played 3B any harder than him. It’s a shame that his demons got the best of him. May he rest in peace.

Growing up in Houston, Texas, when played for the Stros. But he was straight dawg on the field. He was a quiet person who absolutely loved the game. He was a freak of nature when it came to baseball.
Definitely an intense competitor on the field
I didn't even know he was deceased! 😢 I saw him play in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, as a kid, teen, and young adult. I remember him, craig biggio, steve finley, jeff bagwell and the rest of those Astros. As a Dodgers fan, he gave them fits.

Longtime Padre fan and it's impossible to forget him. Sad to look back and ponder what became of him, as well as guys like Eric Show and Alan Wiggins.

He’s was a great player and top player his only issues was drugs seemed like a nice guy and sad ending and life behind the fame
It just goes to show that even at the pinnacle of success there can be a lot going on that can affect these guys. I wish it could have been different for him

For my money, Ken had the best arm of anyone who played 3rd Base ever.
