Charlie, your drone Cinematography has come on leaps and bounds. That bit over the dam was stunning!!.
Great to see and join in your adventures as always.
Thank you 😊
Agreed - but the water running UP the damn dam was a hoot!
@@AylesburyDick I kinda liked it. 🤣
What a wonderful video, I really enjoyed that.
You and your videos are something of an inspiration to me. I did the Zero to Hero course to get my licence at the end of July, having never been on a bike before in my life. I then bought a Euro5 Himmy, also in black, then spend a week touring Cornwall at the beginning of September. My next planned trip is the highlands, and living in Bristol I often take trips over into Wales.
Keep the great content coming.
That's brilliant that you're out there doing it! 😊
My old stomping ground Elan Valley, in the 70s and 80s. Pity it rained for you. God, the Victorians knew how to build structures to last. Looking forward to part 2👍.
They certainly did!
This is great.
I never hit motorways on the himmy, you won't find nice old pubs on motorways.
The whole 20mph thing is just stupid??
Your bike looks well set up.
He's just how I like him now. 😊
Test rode the Himalayan, a bit under powered for my taste. But super comfortable! I wondered if that extra fuel container on hour left side makes any difference to the handling?
I have the bike weighted up evenly with packing, I haven't noticed anything I toward. 😊
Hate Motorways on a bike. no sense of adventure and very bland. A and B roads are so much better
Charlie, what Max said really, very well done! The bit were you both just staring at the menu's like a couple of blind bats I found strangely funny. Looking forward to the rest of this.
It was genuinely a long time! 🤣
Outstanding.
Amazing drone footage and editing.
PS. Carbs = chunk.
Permanent exclusion works. From a T1D.
I'm on day 4 of no carbs. 😱
Greetings from down under. Another wonderful episode. I was absolutely mesmerised from start to finish. Thankyou.
Thank you Keith. 😊
I agree with the drone cinematography comments Charlie....I have been to the cafe you went in....nice breakfasts !....the look on both of your faces having forgotten your glasses was brilliant ( yes I have done similar too !)....hey...safe riding !..
Thank you! 😊
Hahaa one of the drone shots showed the water running uphill :) Thanks for the mention Charlie, I missed some stunning scenery by the looks of things, I've yet to see the Elan dams in full flow. My chest is still sore and still having to take the pain killers but things are improving slowly, this is the first time I've ever sustained an injury whist out on an adventure :(
I'm glad you're feeling a bit better Sandy, was a shame you couldn't make it this time.
( The drone shot- someone pulled the plug out at the other end of the reservoir! was it the fact I was riding backwards that gave it away? 🤣)
I really enjoyed your shots of some familiar places that I visited earlier this year, in the sunshine ;) Kudos for camping in typical "Welsh weather"!
Shame the Owl's Nest was closed, I had a fabulous burger there. Also that Sandy & Dickie couldn't make it - but I know how WM feels having broken 2 ribs 7 weeks ago, I'm not at all surprised he had to back out. Hopefully a repeat outing once he's fit and well?
Thanks Peter, it was a little soggy! We did make the Owls nest in the next episode, and I hope sandy and dickie will come along next time. 😄
Interesting that you featured that church. I thought you were a pagan.
BTW, I was hoping you might go visit the Old Man...as in Mr. Darcy and the... since you were going to Wales. Maybe you should go back and visit before he moves to Spain.
Or, I could go to Spain! 🤔☺️
I love Charlie Chunk , your like Mary Poppins, perfect . You just make this old boy happy with your carry ons LOL
Well thank you indeed! 😊
Fabulous - pity about the weather and the Owls Nest being closed (The owner had a well earned and overdue short holiday break). Great roads when things are dryer.....maybe again. Would be great to meet you at the Owls Nest if your ever about again. I'm sure many would be happy to chat and subscribe after meeting up.....one day maybe....
We managed to make it there for breakfast on the Saturday morning, Ian gave us a great route. ☺️
We're just back from Scar house res in N/yorks. The dams up there are practically identical, with the same big "shoddies" used ( cut stone ) that looks like they would last for ever, some on 'em weighing a ton, or more. Weather was t'same, too ! Best shot of the whole vid, btw, was ya both squinting at that menu. I'm getting that rode, now.
Bet that was awesome 😎
Lovely! I would love to spend at least a month riding around Wales, Scottland, England & Ireland. Might not want to come back to the ststes after that. 😊
You should ! 😊
Great scenery, Wales is a good place to be, thanks for the upload, here’s a tip for you when you forget your glasses or like me even when wearing glasses things can be hard to read, so what I do is take a photo with the iPhone then simply expand it, I normally get the entire menu in one shot makes it so easy to read.
I've actually started doing that!
Gosh, did this trip on Himmy in mid May this year, didn't have a drop of rain all week, Blue skys and sun. Unbelievable.
What a difference a few months make!
Thanks again for your beautiful video Charlie! Planned to visit Wales (Snowdonia, Brecon Beacons) this summer but due to circumstances had to cancel unfortunately. But watching your videos, I definately have to catch a ferry next summer!! Take care, always drive safe!!
Fantastic! 😊
this video for some reason started at 17:37 for me and the first thing I see and hear is "omg I've got sheep shit all over my boots" 🤣 don't every change Charlie!
🤣🤣🤣 what a way to start a vlog. 🤣
I keep wondering how you Brits are coping with the rain. It's like rain isn't bothering you guys at all.I take my hat off for that. When it's raining at the start I don't even bother putting my gear on, if the rains starts when I'm on the road, well that's just bad luck, but frankly I hate it. Keep that spirit it up Charlie 👍👍
I think it's something you just live with here! If I didn't ride when it rains, I'd hardly ever get out! 😊
I hope you enjoyed our lovely Welsh scenery and our lovely weather Charlie 😁😁
Very much so. 😄
Hi Charlie, problems starting bikes is not uncommon I think. In 2005 I pulled into a petrol station just outside York. After filling up with petrol, I got on the bike only to find it wouldn't start. I pushed the bike over to the far side of the forecourt so I wasn't in the way of other vehicles. I got the seat off and started checking fuses etc when I finally noticed the kill switch on the handlebars was in the off position. I can only think I must have accidentally hit the switch when I got off the bike . I have been riding motorbikes since 1964 so silly things can happen to anyone. Done the sidestand thing myself once or twice. Maybe its an age thing, at least with me. 🤣🤣
I think it is Indeed an age thing! 😊
Great video. 😀 Have you seen Itchy Boots on the new Himalayan? No specs for it yet, but she’s very impressed 😀
I have, I'm looking forward to seeing it at the NEC
Does your bike not cut out if you try to pull away with sidestand deployed? Usually some are like that ,some cut out just by selecting a gear.
It cuts out on gear selection if I've forgotten the side stand. 😊
I’ve been to Wales a few times and nearly drowned and that’s in the summer so good luck in October 😅
It was a tad soggy!
Great video Charlie drone footage was awesome Wales is always good when you're on a motorcycle looking forward to the next one
It was a great few days, it'll be fun to compile the next one. 😊
WOW, I absolutely love your videos! What great scenery and amazing roads! Thank you so much for sharing. Makes me want to ship my Himalayan from Terceira island, in the Azores, to mainland Portugal and ride up it to Scotland! Cheers!
Glad you like them! You should come on over! ☺️
I understand you have a new toy to play with, but I feel your recent videos have gone a bit too countryfile Charley !
Who doesn't love a new toy and some Countryfile 😁
Truly impressed by the October camping. The drone works was excellent, Wales is a stunning place and the Himmy no better bike to adventure on. Ride safe
Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Morning Charlie...wales is looking as beautiful as ever 🤗 you're proving Roger is all you need for normal speed adventures in Europe. The trying to read a menu whilst forgetting glasses is me all over 😅...Harry
Thanks 👍
I think the best way of riding the Elan valley is bottom to the top oe as I did two weeks ago , up & then back down 👍
It’s certainly rained since I was down there, always nice to catch it when the waters going over the dams, great drone footage 😊
Sadly The West End cafe in Llandovery is now very expensive!!
Thanks for the tip! 😊
Ooooo, Charley, that looks wetter than an otter’s pocket 🫤. What drone are you using?
It's a DJI mini pro 3. 😊
Have you seen the new RE Himalayan prototype Itchy Feet is trying out on her channel?
I have. ☺️
Nice video and ride!!!
That's what I call enthusiasm, out on such a dull and drab day, but then, that is what gives these pictures so much depth and atmospheric drama. Fantastic filming and editing, love it...., be careful girl, or you'll end up becoming my No.1 Bike vlogger!!
Well that just sounds like a challenge to me! 🤣
Another great adventure Charlie, thanks for letting us come along for the ride, great post.....
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Hi Charlie! Another great video with awesome editing and music - again!
Thanks for taking us with you as always 😊👍
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it again. 😊
How many miles has Roger done now? Sounds like he has decided he is run in and ready to roar
Over 15k ! 😱
It's a shame you stopped singing. I was enjoying that 🎵❤️
Gosh, I think you must be in a minority there! 🤣
really enjoyed that vid charlie fab drone footage thank you
Thanks 👍
Great vid Charlie and as others have said, the drone footage is excellent. I went to Llandovery with two biker friends of mine only a few weeks ago, we sat on the benches outside the same cafe you were in too. We went via Black mountains and Devils Staircase and the scenery is stunning. Looking forward to Part two. Keep that kickstand up 😀
Thanks Paul! I did remember for the rest of the trip! 🤣
# 홧팅 🍒👍!!!
Nice vlog Charlie … The Elan Valley is beautiful, and a fantastic place for chugging around on motorcycles…Just sorry I couldn’t make the weekend..Lee seems I nice chap although he kept disappearing and blending in with the foliage 😉😄..Ex forces no doubt .. Take care x👍
Sorry you couldn't make it, Catch you next time Dickie. Xx
Hi Charlie enjoying your videos ....I'd like to talk bike gear what ladies jeans do you recommend...I have tried Motogirl ...Oxford (had to send them back product re call 😞) Ellie jeans and the Irene dungarees can't say I've found any comfy for a chubby 60 year old 😜also what are your boots I find bike boots I can't get them round my chubby ankles lol im a size 18/20 with a stoma 😀
Hi! The jeans that are my 'go-to' are from John Doe and called 'Betty'. Just don't tumble dry them or they'll never fit again. 😂 I have yet to find the 'perfect' pair for a buxom lass, the search continues.
Oh and the boots are Forma, they have great adjustable clamps on the legs for chonky calves like mine!
Awesome video Charlie fantastic footage
Thank you. 😊
Nice one Charlie
the "side stand moment"...it never happened to me...😂
Liar! 😂
The scenery was still awesome ,even with the rain and haze. Shots of the dam were great!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Thanks Charlie, that's some fabulous scenery and wonderful filming...love it! 🙂
Many thanks 😊
You met Lee in McDonald's, obv.
Well obviously! 🤣
Rain in Herefordshire! Who knew! Lol

Me too! 😍
@@restdayrider hey you owned a new subscriber from.Morocco, impress us ma'am
Good Job Mum 🫶
Thanks Georgie. 😍
Hi Charlie loved your mini tour❤
More to come! 😊
I was in the very same cafe in Llandovery a couple of months ago. Lots of bikers use it. I stayed at the bear Inn. 👍👍👍
I visited Wales and staid the night in Swansea when I was stationed in Upper Heyford. Loved it.
I have ridden that route many times
It's very pretty!
At least no midges in Wales LOL.
☺️
So beautiful the scene of dam
Thank you, even on a miserable day it was fabulous.
Fabulous footage Charlie, love the countryside up there, Love your adventures large and smallish!
Another excellent episode,, thanks Charlie for taking us along 🇦🇺😇
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
The landscapes are stunning! Thanks for sharing :-)
You must return again on a summers sunny day.
Absolutely, I'll just need to dodge the traffic tho I suspect then!
Very nice film making
Thanks 👍
Charlie, loving the camping tours and the adventures you have. Can you tell me the make & model of the drone you use? The Welsh part One clips are stunning. Looking forward to more.
Trev (Ageing hospital Porter Harrogate)😉
Hi, it's a DJI mini pro 3. 😊
A nice enough video for us to view, well done.
I get the feeling that many will say after the 452 Himalayan gets it big Public reveal now within a week.
That Royal Enfield got it right, (almost right!) the FIRST time.
As great as the new 452 Himalayan will be, the 411 Himalayan is more than good enough for anyone.
Though, ideally had Royal Enfield made the 411 a 398cc instead, with a tad bit more compression ratio. This for me would have been a better option.
Yet as we know the 411 Himalayan was mostly made for the domestic Indian market, then later on sold on Worldwide around 2018 onwards. So I hear.
For the UK, paying the extra cost in the 400 to 600cc vehicle road tax bracket, JUST for about 11cc sticks in my gut far too much. I sadly cannot do it.
Just that blows it for me.
I have found out that over in India, the motorcycle Insurance are in a few different brackets UP TO 350cc. Then over that amount it does cost quite a bit more.
So 411 or 398cc means nothing much to Royal Enfield other than a tad tiny bit more extra hp figure. Yet elsewhere around the World we have become accustomed to Insurance and vehicle road fund licences up to specific cc levels. 400, 600 etc.
I say here and now were I to win this Saturdays 28th Oct 2023 £10M+ Lotto jackpot I would purchase in bulk, tens of 411 Himalayans from Royal Enfield and with their consent & approval bring out a 398 Himalayan special that was virtually as the 411 is now.
Except sleeved down to a 398cc, higher compression, tad bigger valves, more powerful camshaft, gas flowed cylinder head, better flowing air filters etc attempt to shave 10kg off the kerb weight and bring them out with a few other mods as standard new for basically just the difference in cost with the new parts.
All at very near COST price.
In a way, making this British Motorcycle that was in the 1950's sold on to India, who now thankfully make their various great models, and then have them imported here and in a way Britishfy the Himalayan up to a 30/30 spec.
Which is 30hp and 30 ft/lbs of Torque.
Which to me would be just about right for our market.
Yes indeed the power output just as it is is not too bad. Plenty powerful & fast enough to end up in traction for 6 to 8 months in hospital, or worse.
But, yes a but, but just that tad extra hp & maybe more importantly a bit more torque IN the 411 or rather 398 form would be ideal.
It would for me and maybe for others as well.
A good 30/30 in below 500cc form in a sub 200kg package with VFM is a hard thing to beat.
I have seen a 411 Himalayan recently, my first one all parked up by the roadside and was very impressed with it at first sight.
Looked at it for ages, getting it all in.
The 'chunkiness' and solid build of it impresses me, AND it has a rev counter, gear indication and so on, onboard compass, directional malarkey, (at least up until a certain year model it was, as standard).
Looks like the 411 Himalayan is a nice tidy package that Royal Enfield, so I have learned today, originally in India brought that great bike out in 2016.
7 years of production then, achieving good success
Were Royal Enfield to bring out a 398 in the package I describe here alongside the new 452 Himalayan in non domestic markets it would be INTERESTING to see what the sales figures would be.
Maybe the new 398 Himalayan would win out over time. (Not counting the pre-Nov 2023 sales!, to be fair).
And factoring in the initial 452 sales, that would distort it somewhat, were it too soon of a timespan.
Looking at the 452 Himalayan to me the engine would not suit the existing 411 package.
It would not fit in, though may well do in the 452 package with all that extra performance.
It being as we know a more modern up to date take of the Himalayan that for the younger enthusiast they will likely enjoy.
Even older ones will. I predict it will be a bit of a dilemma for some to choose, if the 411 Himalayan production does carry on for a year or two or so.
I really do get the feeling though that Royal Enfield got it right, right from the start.
Other than those few niggles for the Worldwide market.
Royal Enfield got it right for the domestic Indian market, very much granted, but some improvements could have been made for the RoTW.
Maybe should have.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Please Royal Enfield, bear in mind, best that you 'do' cater for a Worldwide market, considering what the RoTW want.
THEN you will 'crack' those markets, even more so than you already are.
Fine then, I'm off for my breakfast. A good bit of written 'prose' a day that we BANG OUT, be it read or not read by others, does exercise our minds.
It helps in our every day and day to day creativity and 'working out' of matters.
Do try it more and you will see the improvement in your lives.
"Freedom of Speech", yes, IF we exercise that freedom in both spoken & written form. Saying nothing or saying LESS is what Authority & the 'players' surely WANT.
Less blowback on them.
Far more easier for them to 'control' us and persuade us to produce and purchase their goods & services.
Giving folk an opportunity to read ones prose, putting a GOOD AMOUNT of effort in to it gives folks an option and choice to read something they may enjoy.
Be they in agreement or not.
We all have OUR VIEWPOINT.
As valid as the next no matter who or what we are.
To give our viewpoint at times may be the key ingredient missing in the mix of things.
We cannot think of everything, the entirety of the individuals of the World may be missing YOUR viewpoint of a matter, that could be of great Importance.
I do say best to bang it out, for it may make things better for ourselves and for us all.
------------------------------------------------------------------
A decent enough video then from a motorcycle enthusiast doing their thing.
Doing the right thing from the looks of it and on the whole enjoying themselves for the bargain price of that 411 Himalayan & fuel & so on.
The value of that Royal Enfield Motorcycle as we see, not just being in the VFM of the machine itself but the places, and indeed the extra places it can traverse in our communities and open countryside.
Though not quite as well as what we did see in the nice looking DRONE FOOTAGE, a very nice touch that. Was not expecting that.
Such great sights to see out there even near Winter time.
Available on an ideal motorcycle such as a 411 Himalayan.
Though as said with a £10m+ Lotto win, I would treat many many enthusiasts to a 398.
That's one heck of a read!
Hi Charlie, great to watch from your pov. This is my playground 50 miles from me and I have been doing this for 10s years and never get bored. I think it is as beautiful as anywhere I have been. I still sometimes see a road and just take it. Wales and the Marches bordering Herefordshire and Shropshire is something else. There’s loads more for you to explore honestly. Luckily for me if the sun shines I get on my bike and go. I can see the himmy is perfect for that as you can’t go that fast anyway. My v strom is also fantastic. From 30-120 ( allegedly) in 6 th gear totally tractable twist throttle and enjoy scenery. Just my pov I think there will be more accidents in the 20s as the concentration required takes focus off the drive to the speedo renderingbobservations less. I stand in awe of those Victorian engineers on how they did this, no diggers, just tough men and the brains behind it.
That moment u captured the “forgot glasses” is me everytime i go for a meal so have to order the same everytime made me chuckle. Some pubs etc have a box of forgotten glasses where I live😂😂
Would be wonderful to live so close by, I'm glad it's only a few hours from me too! 😊
Welcome to the land of song, how green is our valley, great vlog again, try & get down to cwmystwyth & devils bridge,& the A 487 coastal rd “ north or south).personally I’d go south towards st David’s. Watching with interest, all the best ,ride safe 👏👏🏴✊
Maybe I did indeed some of those routes! ☺️
Thank you for this video. Wales seems to be as beautiful as Scotland. All celtic counties are beautiful ...🙂
They certainly are. 😊
Hi Charlie - this one was particularly interesting for me because it's so local ie when you rode past the Severn Arms Hotel in Penybont (the one with the unfortunate fire damage) you were just 3 miles from us! So Elan Valley very familiar ie from walking and riding the Himi!
It's a beautiful part of the country. 😊
Hi Charlie thank you for the content the scenery is wonderful. The music that was played for the drone footage over the Elan Dam was great what is it called?
I use a music app called Artlist for copyright free music ☺️
Cheers I've tried sooooo many 😅
Always cheers me up watching your videos Charlie... im liking Lee s tiger.. must get one for travelling.. my bandits not quite the same
Thanks 👍
Yet again a brilliant video, very inspiring. Did i notice you ran one of the dam shots backwards ! Very clever. Looking forward to part 2. 😁
Thanks! Yes I did, I think it looks quite different with the water going back up! 😊
Charlie, motorcyclists don't, 'put on a bit of chunk' we, 'prepare for winter'!
I'll take that! 🤣
Great video
Have you seen the Itcy boots new videos , she is in India with the Himalayan which is not on general sale yet
The bike looks brilliant, Royal Enfield has done a brilliant job , and it’s got a sat nav with maps
I am looking forward to seeing it at the NEC next month. 😊
Gorgeous. Truly enjoy your channel. I will be adventuring on my fireball with your inspiration 😊
Wonderful! ☺️
Another great video. Wales - beautiful but often soggy. Often have the same problem with forgetting my glasses
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
You have succeeded in some important things for a film/vlog to be both interesting and arouse curiosity in the viewer. But... the powers of the weather are harder to master. It is exactly as I remember it from my time on the small island group out in the North Sea, rain, rain and more rain. I know you don't see it as a small island group, considering what a proud islander exclaimed! "Fog over the English Channel, Europe isolated!" Wales is very beautiful. 😁
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Lovely vidio the music and drone shots are brilliant well done, i live in the brecon becons and since retiring from the welsh ambulance service i spend all my riding time exploring my own country and at the moment dont feel the need to go anywhere else, the 20 mph limit has not detered from my enjoyment as the speed reduction is where its needed , keep up the great work well done ride safe
Sounds like a great place to retire to, that and west coast Scotland. 😊
Charlie, the external fuel tanks, where did you get them ? Enjoying your video’s as usual.
I found these on line, with the adapters to fit them to the front. Think they were about £45 each.
I did my first mini-tour of Wales 3 or 4 weeks before this and was cooking in 29 degree sunshine! Loved it. Some spectacular views and stop offs at some streams to cool down, then a £30 AirBnB!
I was 3 or 4 weeks too late then! 🤣
Looks like you are having fun getting out and about even in the rain. I do have a question. I am a first aider at work ( have been for years) so as a consequence I carry a decent first aid kit in the car and now i ride a bike do the same. I know where it is if i need to use it but is there any recommendation in your experience as a paramedic as to where I should keep my bike kit and how to mark it up in case I am the one to have an issue ?
I keep essentials in my front pannier for easy access, and I must remember to tell those I ride with that for my use too! Good point! 😊
You are getting good at producing these videos Charlie. Enjoy yourself and try to stay warm in the tent.
I actually took a hot water bottle which helped immensely! 😊
I leaned the Hemel Hempstead magic roundabout the day after my CBT 'back in the day' 😂
🤣
Another great vid!!...Looking forward to the rest of the series 👍Keep them coming!!!
Thanks! Will do! 😊
That was a pleasant surprise, very enjoyable. Strange but my trousers have also become very tight 🙄. Alan.
It's a thing!
Great cinematography Charlie, great scenery, thanks for sharing. I had a chat with Sandy and I knew he’d not make the trip with you, he was hurt more than he let on me thinks. Looking forward to part two, stay safe girl. As usual, alb……Cam xx💐
I'm just glad he's on the mend. ☺️
Love the show, Thank you.
Not the best weather Charlie, but what a place👍Some of those roads were incredible and your drone footage was just awesome, especially at the first dam👌Part 2 looks...interesting😂
Thank you Rab, glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Hello Charlie
Normally i would have been jealous of your work colleague ... the weather needs to be better for me to come.... i had a fantastic trip to France 🇫🇷 last month in October on my other motorcycle its great if you avoid the motorway and tolls. I like the drone shots but did you reverse the footage at all as it looked like the water 💧 was running up the dam wall 😂... what software do you use for the video editing as i have some to do... or i could just let you do it for me 🎉 you have cost me a lot of money Charlie buying motorcycles and going touring with them. Ps Charlie I see you are struggling to get your leg over. ..... 😊 I recommend yoga 🧘♂️ 👌
Hi! I did reverse some of the drone footage, I like to make it different! The software I use is a free version of Da Vinci 18. Sorry I've cost you ££, but I hope it's worth it! 😊
Great video !! Nice to see Roger keeping up his swiiming lessons . atb.
🤣
Stunning part of the country to ride around , beautiful views and a beautiful country , I love Wales and riding around the all the dams, I don’t think you can beat either Wales or Scotland for scenery although there are a lot of beautiful areas in England too, we as a group have frequently visited the Crossgates cafe for a tidy breakfast, good to see you out again, cheers Mitch
It is lovely, and I will definitely be back. 😊
Elan Valley is a great route 👍
Wales good whatever the weather 👍
Great video, those roads are perfect for the Himalayan, mine loves it!
Yes they are! 😊
