Congratulations on a top drawer first video.
I've been watching YT videos of motorcycle touring for years. Yours was one of the most refreshing, honest videos. No bravado, no silly riding, no swearing. Spot on!!
The isolation is what bike touring is for me, much like yourself. Realistic daily miles and chilling in the evening. Also, really important to ride the bike that you're comfortable on. It doesn't have to be a GS. I toured on an R1200RT for years before being honest with myself, appreciating it was far too heavy and now have a manageable Tiger. It's about how you feel.
Once again, well pitched video. Best of luck going forward. I'm subscribing now! 👍

Thanks for getting out there and being honest and producing an enlightening video, its always good to plan ahead but always be prepared to take what may come your way, but remember your on an adventure and part of being on an adventure may lead to making new plans, new experience's and meeting new people and enjoying your motorcycle, its not the miles you cover but the experience's along the way. so have fun enjoy. keep safe and looking forward to your next adventure.

Excellent video, and I'm enjoying your other ones as well! I know we all take inspiration from yours and other peoples videos, and I really appreciate people taking the time to film, edit and post them. For me also, Long Way Round gave me the initial inspiration, and then it was some time before I actually took my test and started riding, but I do love it, and I've now done 3 couple of week trips in europe. Thanks very much!

Great vid and can relate to what you are saying about living in the North. I am an ex Londoner now living in North east and the area is perfect for riding the best roads in the UK. I also have an 890 adventure same colour as yours and just completed a tour of France and Spain ,Andorra in June and the bike was faultless.
I camp mainly and do it all year round. First European tour was in 1979 at the age of 19.

Excellent video for your first attempt, fair play! Good choice of route, too. I did it from where I live in South Wales (Llanelli) on the 20th May, in that lovely weather we had, before it turned to crap! Went via Llangollen, Ruthin, Rhyl, along the expressway (as you did), around Anglesey (short break at Amlwch, in the old harbour/port), then home via Porthmadog, Dolgellau, Machynlleth, down the West Wales coast, then Lampeter and Carmarthen etc. That was a 464 mile day, spread over 12 hours, on my little Tracer 700...not bad for an old fart of 56, riding for 40 years! Anyway, great video, mate, and I've subscribed already! Keep them coming, and good luck with that back of yours! 😁👍

Great first video. Only thing I’d suggest, don’t show everyone your home location or where your bikes stored and which locks you keep on the bike. It did look like a secure car park, but would still be a target by scumbag thieves. Maybe it’s just my paranoia kicking in, but I wouldn’t want everyone online knowing where my bike is kept. +1 for quad lock. Great bit of kit. I’m using the wireless charger head on my T7. They sell a tripod, I might make a purchase soon.

Get rid of that silly big bag, get some pannier racks like the outback motortek x frame ones £250 and get some bags like the cheap lomo 30 liter pannier bags or the enduristan monsoon 30 liter bags, you want the weight of you luggage down lower , bike will move and corner so much better for you, I do quite alot of road tours to offroad tours around the tet in the uk, also get some vps bark busters as they will save your levers if you do ever drop the bike 👍I live in wales and you don't really see the beauty of Wales unless you get out into the sticks and up into the mountains and the offroad trails and your 890 is a great bike for riding the trails around Wales 👍

For a first video, I thought that was really good mate, looking forward to watching the rest of the trip.
Not that there’s anything wrong with your riding, but can I recommend doing some advanced rider training? If you’re going to be doing more miles on unfamiliar roads, it will help keep you safe and to be more progressive on the road. I’m 31 and I’ve done advanced training with the IAM in the past year. I would say I’m a fairly decent rider, but the advanced training really bumped me up a notch. (Not a criticism, just a recommendation) 👍

Id highly recommend you consider joining the Trail Riders Fellowship who offer lots to novice riders and there will be a local group to you in Manchester with lots of welcoming friendly people to offer help and guidance and advice for you and the bike.
The single biggest improvement you can make to your bike Id suggest is tyre choice for riding off tarnac depending on what you plan to ride. Gravel, Forest Roads, Mud, Sand, Rock and more.
I guess your back is going to be a factor to consider. Make sure you make a donation to Air Ambulance.

Well done you for giving it a go.
    Some suggestions:
MyRoutes for navigation, fantastic for those like me who aren't tech savvy and easy to use and easy to share with mates or publicly.
    Research
Perhaps try some research about great things to see before you set off. You passed one of the greatest cafes on the planet IMHO and Llanfairfechan. Stunning thrice cooked chips, wonderful home made cake and right on the beach too.
There are over 600 castles to see in Wales.
The railway bridge at Barmouth is legal for motorcycles to ride the boards. One of the top 10 UK must do on an adventure bike (yes with road tyres) IMHO
    Ambitions
Travel more slowly, your mileages looked hugely ambitious to me who rides Wales daily. Take things at a less ambitious pace and sit and enjoy the views and have time to take a turn you hadn't thought of and see where you end up. You lost Anglesey as a result. Less is most definetely more.
Try the cross country routes, there's many more stunning routes that the M56. Try Llanberis Pass to get from Manchester to Anglesey.
Good luck, keep going and have fun. I'll check in again to see how the videos progress.
Oh and the KTM issues...well they don't call them Keep Taking Money for nothing.
Each to their own though you meet the nicest people in a Honda.
Once you've put a few thousand on a bike you may be better placed to decide if you really like it or the grass might be greener.
    Ride safe, have fun.
    Stuart

Stuart thanks so much for the comment and advice. I have heard a few bits about the KTMs like that.
