Charlie I also enjoyed seeing the group of Honda 90 riding past, it shows you what you can do even on a small bike.
They were epic , some didn't make it up the hairpins! ☺️
Some of them rainy day trips are the ones we really remember. That storm was so big it made the news down here in New Zealand
I will definitely remember the stormy trips. ☺️
Great adventure and video Charlie. Anyone who thinks proper adventure only starts when you leave tarmac hasn't experienced rural Welsh single lanes!. Other adventureus single lanes are available in the UK but i absolutely adore Wales.
You mentioned devils bridge and lake vernwy, did you make it to either?. One of my favourite rides on planet earth is from north Vernwy over the Moore's to lake Bala. It's not a long ride , but it's one of those places you feel like you've stepped out of time and taken a left turn into JRR Tolkien's middle earth.
Thanks for sharing the adventure Charlie 😊.
You'll see lake Vrynwy, but we didn't make the devils bridge sadly. Next time! 😊
Great video Charlie, I didn't half titter at you trying to remember what bird watchers are called. 😂😂😂
It evaded me for a good minute! 😊
Gore-tex is waterproof, but not Welsh-drench proof! I have two options when it rains..., I either use Rain overgloves (which give a little cold proofing as well) from "Louis" when it chucks it down, or I stay indoors. You sure are getting dammed good wiv ya mates at finding some good roads and scenery in the land of Sheep.., and, i'm pretty sure the plural of Sheep is the same, Sheep. I adore Wales, and you're doing it so proud, so thanks for yet another sensational video.
Ah but Sheeeeeeps is so much more fun to say! 🐑
Thanks Charlie! Really entertaining. Keep singing please, it's part of your character.
Your wish is my command, but I'm not sure all will agree. 🤣
Great video as always, loved the drone shots.
Best things, and what i put back on at this time of year, being an all weather rider as well, are bar muffs. They dont look very 'cool' but are brilliant for keeping your hands dry and warm.
There are different fitment types so make sure they have a fitment to go around your mirror mounts if you go this route.
Have fun and see you on your next video 🙂
I think this is something I shall have to explore. 😊
I agree - have used handlebar muffs for 15yrs or more. Keep your gloves dry and hands warm - they're a game changer. They give off the "Deliveroo" kinda vibe, but I don't care about that. Highly recommended!
Great video, really wild and desolate country.
Beautifully filmed and edited thank you for taking us along .
Thanks ☺️
Great video again Charlie. In a recent video Fort Nine bursts the goretex bubble. I usr Macna Futon heated gloves. When wet you hands keep nice and warm, and with 2 pairs of 3000Mah I'm good for 10 to 12hrs. Grts Danny
Welcome to Wales. I live just up the road from Abergavenny. Apart from the 3 weeks of sunshine end of May, beginning of June, when it was too hot to ride the bike, I think it has rained pretty much every single day. I only escaped it by going to Scotland, stayed dry to Moffat and then it rained every day again! It was only dry in England. Gloves? The thicker they are, the more water they absorb. I just wear leather ones and keep the sleeves over them, that way the water doesn't run down the sleeves and into the gloves, and no rain being wicked back up the sleeves either.
You must know the Brecon Beacons like the back of your hand! 😊
This is so amazing, the Epic Vistas are jaw dropping, thank you for the amazing footage!!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Great video Charlie. What a beautiful biking road. Stunning scenery, wish I was there. Thanks for sharing the ride with us. Cheers and ride safe. Dan. ✌️🏍🇨🇦
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
What lovely country and roads for riding. On my list and someday will fly across the pond to give it a try before I get to old. 🍺
Definitely!
Having seen your video I did a loop from Cardiff today on my 125, taking in that Gospel Pass section between Crucorny and Hay as it's 'local' to me. Loads of fun, but there are sections of that lane that have seriously fallen off the council's maintenance plan... It's where big mummy and daddy potholes go to breed and party, with mounds of mud and rivers of water, gravel and stray rocks running down the road! :) I was wishing for knobblies and longer suspension. But, it was worth it for the views from the top (sun shone for me!) and there are several good coffee shops in H-on-W. Thanks for the idea.
The pot holes are a nightmare at the moment, but glad you enjoyed the ride and had some good weather. 😊
At 20:39 / 29:06 there's a great pull in/layby with even better views. Great vid, many thanks. TommyV
Excellent drone footage of the dam!
Thanks 😊
If the gloves are goretex and they have failed, you should get in touch with the place you bought them, they should replace them without any problems.
Sportsbike shop will always do that as goretex should not let the water in.
Another fantastic video 👍🏻🚑
Thanks, I'm definitely taking them back once I've ruled out user error. 🤣
I am sure you have put many a glove on to know how they work 😂😂
Some mighty fine scenery there! 👍
One thing worse than a fish supper scoffing seagull is an unpleasant pheasant.
That's true! Feisty things! 🤣
Great Inspiration for Wales. Thank you!
AGB
Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Thanks for the great scenery...
Thank you 😊
Hey Charly, you had to put the Arms of your Jacket on the Outside over the gloves when its raining, because the Water runs into the Gloves.🤪
Good tip, thanks 👍
It's fantastic roads to ride and great to see it on video , Charlie you need over gloves they are brilliant at keeping the worse of the rain off , over trousers and jacket too , I had them for a trip I done and definitely keeps the worse off
Good tip, thank you. ☺️
Good tip, thank you. ☺️
Nice one Charlie, those pheasants can get a bit feisty, great video....😊
You got that right! 🤣
Fab video. I’m inspired. Now i’m really looking forward to riding out into the Welsh hills when I take delivery of a Meteor next month. I’m just over the border in Gloucestershire, so, I reckon I’ll be doing that often.
You will be popping over there all the time!
💚🖤 Wales has always been on my bucket list, such a beautiful country even in a storm. :) Love your videos, Charlie, thank you for risking a sniffle for us.
Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
My expensive Goretex waterproof gloves are also not waterproof. The only recommendations I can give is to do what you did and wear a waterproof liner!
I love riding in the rain especially when it's dry rain.
That was some serious floods and debris on the way upto the Gospel pass. I recognised that, a lovely place.
Lynne Brianne lovely place, been there too :)
WOW the Triumph sounding like a Himi, that is some class editing Charlie. Top marks.
Devils staircase done that, both ways but not sideways thankfully, the valley beyond is very beautiful.
You missed the Most Remote phone box though!!
Thanks Sandy, I'll go back when the rains dry. 🤣
Hi Charlie, I've done the Devils Staircase a few times both ways up and down. You need to watch for oncoming traffic on the climb up, only wide enough for one vehicle.
That was a great trip, what beautiful sceneries, pitty for the weather, but that's part of the adventure. Thanks for sharing.
A bit of rain is character building. 😊
That trip looked great fun, thanks for that, I am looking forward to my adventures,
You'll have a great time. 😊
Fantastic Charlie stunning scenery
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Thankyou2much 4 the terrific vids .... you're quite brave souls to be out killing it in that weather...... save your pence if you can & come ride w/us in the Sierra Nevadas .....high and dry .......C U soon
That would be a grand adventure!
nice one charlie first class
Thanks 👍
and the gospel pass is in the black mountains but it is a nice road on times
Utterly fabulous production Charlie. My favourite vlogger now. This welsh trip is ur best in my book
Awe thanks Volt! 😊
Thank you for this beautiful video (as usual). You asked for advice about waterproof gloves. The best thing is to put muffs (not sure of the translation...) on the handle-bar. You'll tell me it bring us back to the 70's😊 and that it is not nice looking. But it protect from the rain... and the cold in winter.🙂
I recently got alpinestars ride recommended from sportsbike shop and so far Nice and dry
Thanks for the tip. 😊
Great video Charlie…. Superb drone footage again. So use to seeing you with a cuppa tea or a glass of cider! Very well done riding those country lanes , they were very slippy! As always stay safe 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, it was a tad slippy! 😊
Noooooooo, you can’t replace the gorgeous sound of the Speed Triple with,,,,,, with,,, “Roger”. !!! Joking aside, that was a great vid, keep sharing your adventures, they are inspiring…
Sorry! 🤣
Another enjoyable vlog Charlie
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Good Evening Charlie , Another classic well presented video Plus your drone footage was absolutely awesome , as always take care & ride safe
Thanks, you too! 😊
Did these roads twice this year moto camping on my cb500x, Claerwen reservoir and the roads around that are some of the best in the uk. Enjoyable video....
I agree, I'll definitely be back! 😊
Greetings from down under. Another quite magical episode with a beautiful soundtrack. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks as always Keith. 😊
Brilliant video Charlie, love doing those roads with the lads once a yr, we keep going back , stunning roads for riding, nice to see you stopping at the lay-by bottom of devils staircase, we have a break there too and watch the bikers ride by and chat , as for gloves I’m not sure anything is completely waterproof but maybe wrong , I normally take 2 pair of gloves , you can’t beat the Welsh weather, all the more fun , all the best , Mitch 👍👍
I'll definitely be going back Mitch. 😊
I'll definitely be going back Mitch. 😊
Great adventure Charlie & Company hello from rainy day in Texas
It rains in Texas?? 😱 I assumed it was always hot and dry.
No we have our Very Cold winter days too@@restdayrider
Waterproof overgloves. Pack small enough that I keep them in my jacket arm pocket. I love my 3 season gloves too much to switch to proper weather proof ones. Have tyhermal liners if it gets too cold.
Great ride Charlie ❤
Impressive as ever Charlie 👏
Thanks Lynda. 😊
Hi Charlie a utuber FortNine has a good video on the truth about gortex well worth a look the only waterproof gear is rubber boots and marigold gloves 😅😅 great video and drone shots/music fantastic 😊😊
It's on my list to check out. 😊
Charlie, we really are enjoying this Welsh trip of yours! As for waterproof gloves, in my 57 years riding motorcycles, I've yet to find gloves (or any part of the clothing!) that are 100% waterproof! I bought 'high-end' Halvarsson gloves and they became waterlogged like yours. I now have a £40 pair that seem to be dry (so far!). Not much help ... sorry!
Thanks John. 😊
Glad you enjoyed our playground......Sorry the weather was against you all the way.
I didn't mind that much. 😊
Great Vblog, living in Pembrokeshire, i have ridden the roads you been tearing up! Besides wearing Spada over-mitts for keeping your hands dry, the ONLY gloves i have found in many, many years of riding are a brand called SPYDER, have a little spider logo on them. Wet gloves, but dry hands. Bloody remarkable gloves. I think they are geared up for the people who go skiing, rather than bikers, but WTF, they are awesome. I think they are a bit pricey, paid about £45 or £60 if i recall, but they bloody do the job brilliantly. Hey from sunny Wales!
Wales is Sunny at the moment??? I'll have to come back! Thanks for the glove tip. 😊
I use the black disposable gloves the mechanics use, get a box of 100 for few quid at screwfix, I keep a few pairs under the seat also doubles up if you need to fix something oily on the bike. Thanks for posting that was a very wet rideout. I spray my 'waterproof' gloves with the waterproofing spray the brand is Nikwax.
Thanks for the tip. 😊
Amazing scenery you guys are riding through. It is get very cold here in Eastern Canada, I have a Remembrance Day, 11 Nov, parade and will be hanging helmet until spring. Another great video.
Hope it goes well for you. 😊
Goretex is guaranteed for life. Are you sure the water ingress wasn't creeping up your sleeve and back dow your arm.I've had Richa GTX gloves for years and ridden in all weathers with no issues. If there is a fault with your gloves, speak to the dealership you bought them from. Got to be worth a try. Loved the video. You are in my playground. Ride safe and DRY
I will try the sleeve thing, then they're going back!
Great wee vid.
Thanks 👍
Could try having the gloves inside your jacket sleeves as less chance of water running down the sleeve into the glove…I have heated Keis gloves that are amazing
I'll try that! 😊
Charlie’s back! 👍🏻
Fabulous as always. Lovely roads (when dry)
Yes they are! 😊
"Well, I've got a brand-new pair of roller skates. You've got a brand-new key", by Melanie is the song I remember from the '70s. I get the combine-harvester reference (in the left of the shot).... but the "I'll give you the key." phrase makes me wonder if we're thinking of the same tune?!?!?! :-)
The "combine harvester" reference comes from a spoof version of the Melanie song performed by The Wurzels.
th-cam.com/video/hdr1EiOQoOs/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZiWdp_mvmPBsiBcR
Was definitely the Wurzels version. 🤣
Wow never seen this mentioned before Llangyniew, not a village just a little area, I was born there 👍👍
Many a session had in the Red Lion Llanfair Caereinion, my mum lives in the village along with my brother & his family.
You found the waterfall at Lake Vyrnwy, good on you & at its best too.
Great Drone pics.
Glad I offered a blast from your past! 😊
Outstanding video! Great back roads! Wonderful scenery!
Thank you very much! 😊
Riding in the rain, hmmm. It depends on the rain! I commuted for 40 years into London from Hertfordshire and on some occasions actually quite enjoyed the rain. It certainly improves your skills.
However the worst time in the rain was many, many, many years ago which still haunts me, coming back from the Le Mans 24 hr when it was held around Easter time. Torrential rain, in the dark, the entire way to the port. Then continual rain from Dover to Hertfordshire. Horrendous journey!
I suppose you get used to the rain in the UK. 🤣
merci pour ces beaux paysages qui donnent envie d'y aller, un peu moins la pluie
Come on over! 😊
Hi Charlie, good vlog especially when it is one on my doorstep and where i tend to ride around. on a Sunday the oasis café will have about 60 plus bikes in there. there is also the baffle Haus about 6 miles down the road towards Newport. the ride up around Brecon and down to CrickHowell is so good and then up the mountain pass towards Merthyr Tydfil is like being in another world.
It was amazing to discover it not far from home. 😊
Well done Anna nice one
Who's Anna? 🤣🤔
Lovely video in some beautiful countryside. You are a proper motorbike rider ,rain doesn't bother you . Thanks for sharing another travel touring video 😃👍
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Love those ' swoopy roads '! Love your videos and yes, l have been 'registered ' , since the beginning. Stay and well.
I LOVE AMBOS, as an ex firey.
And I love my water fairy friends. 😍
Thankyou Charlie for another great adventure, it always cheer me up😊
My pleasure! 😊
"Croeso i Gymru" Charlie, Welcome to Wales, The B Road Meca for Motorcyclists, like any scenic route across the UK it sometimes rains, doesn't bother me as I don't get wet, I have been riding for 57 years now and cover long distance completely dry and in comfort, forget looking good with all these fancy brands just invest in a one piece suit, they only cost around £40.00 and you can wear your casual clothes underneath, as for gloves just fit a pair of handle bar covers for £45.00, they can be altered to fit any bike that has plastic hand guards (as a safety structure) can be used without, However, for dry feet you may have to cough up a good £200 for a pair of leather waterproof boots that are supple and not stiff like a lot of off road boots are, mine are a BMW GS brand, and of course a helmet that doesn't mist up (no such thing), I have ended up after years of trials purchasing a full face helmet that flips up with clear and sun visor options attached, it also helps to have a large screen to hide behind and extremely hot heated grips, Nothing Like Feeling Dry n Toasty,.... Sorry to brag, Just a retired OAP Enjoying Life,... Look forward to watching the next episode, hope you guys make it to Llanidloes and across to Devils Bridge, OAP Wales UK.... Added Edit: I have subscribed ❤
Wow, that's a whole heap of good tips! Thank you. ☺️
You certainly had the right motorcycle for the adventure riding.
Glad you survived the conditions Charlie. A very entertaining video.
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
I have never been to Wales but now I want to ride there too :-)
It is beautiful and so are your videos.
Thank you. 😊
Just catching up on your latest adventures, as I look out the window at the weather. Now I’m sitting here thinking if Charlie can do it…….. while looking at my gore-tex supposedly waterproof gloves….
🤣 well if Charlie can do it, you definitely can. Just get some decent gloves or raid a garage. 🤣
Surprised about Richa..i have their gloves, a summer and winter pair, and had no problem at all with either🤷🏻♂️. Use their suits too all fine. Great vids though 👍
great vid Charlie, was going to comment on "waterproof" gloves but its a can of worms subject,( good little piece on adv rider Kate vs Gore tex) badger them all at the bike show later this month and see who might get you to test their wares. keep `em coming. TTFN
Thank you! 😊
Wonderful video, thankyou Charlie. Familiar roads to those of us lucky enough to have watched " Freebird" one of the best British biker comedy films ever.
Needs to be on my watch list! 😊
A great film to have a few drinks with or a smoke, watched it a good number of times. @@restdayrider
I tried many waterproof gloves but unfortunately they all were not waterproof. A System that works quite welll is to wear acid gloves over the normal gloves. Dry, warm and cosy all the time 😊
Thanks for sharing your adventures enjoy the very much. Klim adventure gloves are my go to winter gloves.
Thanks for the tip. 😊
😮😆 Ive got a pair of leaky Gortex gloves as well… Think your supposed to treat them with waterproofing stuff every now and again.. I’m probably wrong as usual ..Great vid 👍x
Seems a theme that gloves just aren't waterproof!
I always thought Goretex was waterproof too, Charlie. It was the main reason why it was expensive.
Same! 😐
Birdwatchers are certainly not called Tittivators ! 😂 Re Gloves, I use Oxford Mondial gloves, they are laminated and not a drop gets in 👍🏻
Thanks for the tip! ☺️
Awesome scenery around there, road from Chepstow to Monmouth (a466 I think) was a nice surprise and a good little cafe at tintern Abbey with homemade cake
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Handy hint for keeping gloves dry….don’t tuck sleeves inside the glove. Rain hits your sleeves and runs down into the glove…hope that helps
Thank you. 😊
Such a beautiful country, I cant get enough of riding in Wales, although I cant believe you passed my fave pub of all time "The Towy Bridge Inn" without stopping, next time you must visit, its on the road from Rhandirmwyn to Llyn Brianne, its a beautiful little pub with great food and beer.
Next time! 😊
Wow, great roads, wet or dry ! Stop on a deserted bridge to take photos, for me there would be 12 cars out of nowhere. Best wet weather gloves are Rain Off overgloves, made here in NZ, best I've ever used.
Thanks 😊
Great drone shots, Charlie! Wow. Man, it is beautiful.
You guys are couragious (or crazy 😂) to ride into the rain like that AND tent camping. 😳
Omg, the pheasant vs your friend! 😂
For your hands, I'll say like the other subscriber, bar muffs. Not cool looking, but effective.
Hope nobody got hurt from That storm. Holy crap! Glad you guys were able to get a day without rain!
Thanks Judith, glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Absolute fab video really enjoyed it, just bought a Himalayan yesterday…looking forward to some spins….need to get it serviced first as the brakes are honkingly bad as in dangerous, towards my Suzuki van van 200. I’m not experienced enough to do the likes of those rides in the wet so will just tip around till next spring, some similar stuff here in Ireland hopefully…tnx for vid tho
You will love the Himalayan, go steady and learn together. 😊
Great show. Not too many put up a vid about riding at this time of year so well done. Not being nosey (well, maybe a bit) but what do you do in the evenings at this time of year? Maybe a few shots of the camping; it's all part of the journey.
In the evenings , I download my footage onto the lap top, have a few ciders and chat, then make a hot water bottle and retire! ☺️
Watching your mate slipping and sliding I was thinking you could do with my Mich Anakee Wilds I have just fitted for our N Laos trip starting next Saturday, being maybe over cautious but better be safe than sorry.
Sounds like a fab trip you have planned. 😊
Brilliant to see you on my "local" roads Charlie and very well videoed. Cheers! My bestest gloves of choice are Gerbing XRS 12v heated jobbies. Even without plugging them in they are a superb winter/ rain glove.
....Oh! and as someone else has said: if you have heated grips turned on in the rain then their heat will drive water through to your hands because the grips are hotter than your hands. Fact.
Good tip! 😊
Gloves: in my experience get gloves without any leather (it gets soggy and forces water through the membrane). BUT if your heated grips are too warm they will reverse the effect of the membrane. Best to buy a pair a size larger than normal for ease of taking them on and off.🕊PS Your videos are great🌹
Thank you, and thanks for the tip. 😊
@@restdayriderOne more important feature - a lot of waterproof gloves have linings inside the fingers that stick to your fingers when you take the gloves off. This makes putting your gloves back on very awkward, the linings needs to be anchored at the fingertips. VITAL: you must tuck the gloves inside the sleeves (cuffs) of your jacket when it rains! Good luck shopping 🕊️
Some fabulous scenery. Blown away with the views from the drone. It looks spectacular there.Just how many miles did you do on that doggy single track? Yuk!
I've saved this video and others of yours as I am building up a library of places to visit when I start touring. Keep these journeys coming, I want to see more. And I'll follow in your footsteps one day. Promise.
I'm glad my adventures are helping you plan! 😊
Great video, Gospel pass, Hay Bluff, Llyn Brianne and Devils Staircase are all on my regular riding routes. As you came off Devils Bridge towards Abergwesyn and Beulah did you notice the solitary telephone box and post box. Still has daily collections according to the information on it.😂👍
They turned right, to Abergwesyn, at the end of the road past Llyn Brianne. The remote phone box is the other way, towards Tregaron.
I did pass it, but didn't stop and take the obligatory photo as I should have ! Nest time. 😊
Beautiful photos and stunning scenery. The colours are magnificent. The story is great.
My son wants to go to Wales on my Himalayan. 😳
No...is my definitive reply.
Sell your hedge trimmer (Husqvarna thingy) and buy your own brilliant, best ever RE!!
Really enjoyable and, doesn't the sunshine improve the ride? A lot of the roads looked brilliant, personally I bloody hate wet gravely back roads, the ones that my sat nav always seem to send me along 🤔. I'm keeping my eye out for the next instalment 👍🏍.
The sun does make a huge difference. 😊
It would be an enormous road trip to visit Great Britain. You've shown us Wales, Scotland, landscapes are epic.
My first name is Patrick and i would like to visit Ireland on 17st of March (do you guess why ?).
So a great trip i would do in the future. thank you for your sharing.
You will have a great time Patrick, Ireland's on my list too. ☺️
Ha ha … the little junction you passed at the top of the Gospel Pass, just before you stopped at the car park, is where the sheep truck dropped the two lads off in the film An American Werewolf In London. They should have listened to his warning! 🙂
Omg! I wish I'd known that! 🤣
They took so much when they flooded so many of our villages & valleys, but they left us so much too 👍🏴
True. I love the road past Llyn Brianne, but the reservoir covered gorges on the Tywi, and the forestry monoculture is a very poor substitute for the ancient deciduous woods that were destroyed.
First, I must say that I am impressed by your enthusiasm, even though what I associate the island nation with was against you ☔, you stubbornly fought your way forward. Beautiful views and as you said, perfect bike paths. What started out wet ended up dry. Thanks for letting me "ride along"! ✌
Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
Good to see you persevering in awful conditions Charlie, fair play to you!
Gloves have a lot of stitching which is the weak link even in goretex "waterproofing"
If you must carry on when it's that bad consider muffs!
Hand guards are on my shopping list 😀
