Im with you on the analysis bit. I like to experience art for that emotional impressionistic feeling that is probably impossible to really articulate anyway. Trying to analyze/explain it afterwards doesnt always interest me as much as getting the actual feeling
been meaning to do the Saunders! glad you enjoyed it. feels like a perfect way to go back to the academic world without the tuition fees 😭 and loved your beautiful experience with sharing a story with your mother in her native tongue. honestly so precious! the power of storytelling
I'm trying to get into audiobooks, I stayed away bc I thought it would be harder to focus on the story just being told to me, but seeing audiobooks as a whole sensory experience is a cool way to view it. 😊
Well both things are true! I started the audio book for The Marriage Portrait four times and never focused past the first chapter haha. It’s worth giving them a shot though. Listening to Bret Easton Ellis’ book The Shards was better than reading it for example
Read Parfume and love it. Sonders is very good, too. Not to mention how great they were ,Chehov and Turgenev. If you wanted some light poetry, my suggestion is Pushkin. You are reading mostly very good books.
So you read Chekhov's "Gooseberries," which I would have recommended to you for this summer, after reading about it in a Saunders story?! 😸😁 Then I'd better hurry up and recommend Turgenev's "First Love" and "Torrents of Spring," both of which are warm weather novels but at the rate you're going you will finish them by St. Patrick's 😁😸
The link is in my linktree on my TH-cam profile page (under my bio)! Let me know if that doesn’t work though. The link should be easier because I don’t remember the username I have my account under and it’ll make you look me up by email
Thanks Valentina!! Don't hold back on the journal video....always interested to hear your thoughts.
Will do! and Thank You :)
I’m game for some journal talk!
This made me want to read my favorite short stories out loud to my mom :) Also big fan of journals !!
Aw! It was so great to have a designated read-aloud time after dinner a few nights in a row, I’m sure your mom would love it 🙌
Literally on a perfume hunt atm and it reminded me of Perfume - read it so long ago but still stayed with me
Proof that it’s such a wonderful book!

Do the Saunders! It’s seriously like a free class haha. And 🥹 it’s true … also the power of Tolstoy making a snowstorm so gut wrenching and thrilling
That audio of perfume sounds so creepy!! Adding it to my list of Fall reads :)
Oh yes it’s so perfect for October 🙌
Omg Perfume is SOOO good ! I loved it, it’s so crazy
I can’t talk about books like you do lol but thats a great one !
Trust me I say a whole lot of nothing haha, but yes I loved it! I saw your goodreads review too and figured it would be amazing
I would love to watch that journal video!
Noted!
Recently you mentioned Life And Fate and I got curious and now I’m reading the precursor, Stalingrad. It’s long but hella good.
I’ve only heard great things about must of his stuff! I’m excited to embark on my grossman journey soon
I'm loving how strong the Midwest accent came out with that "God damn." It reminded me of home real fast 🤣
Brooo I can’t unhear it now 😭

Hi Valentina! Would you mind doing a video on how you choose which books to read? Like what inspires you and where do you find these books :)
Of course!
@@bookpogo thank you!!
Thank you!!
I'd recommend rereading The Glutton on audiobook form
I’m down for this

It is most definitely a summer story! I will check those out, they will go perfectly with this midwestern March summer weather
