    I bet several of these or like these joined together would make a gorgeous club table or dining table. Or even kitchen counter top. But the amount of time and craftsmanship put into it... Man, you have my greatest respect!

    When people see the completed boards, they do not see the work and effort that is put into making them. Great board and video, so well done. I noticed you were experiencing the glue joints slipping under clamping pressure. I sprinkle salt on my glue joints and it does stop them from slipping as you apply clamp pressure.

    Wow nice looking cutting board
    That was a lot of glue up and cuts. I hope your making really good money making those.
    I had one idea to bring just a little more bling to it, on the maple strips add a red color wood like cherry but reverse your spirel out pattern or 0 so if your eyes connect the dots you see a hidden pattern, now that's going to take a hell of a lot more work but it can be done prior to dealing with the spiral pattern its just a matter of lining things up.

    • @rbwoodcreations1039
      @rbwoodcreations1039  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually watched other folk's videos on making a crosscut sled, then added the guard later. I used shatter-resistant plexiglass and gave it enough width to cover my face when I'm close to it aligning cuts. It works really nice for when I need to adjust a cut while using shims on a piece and I need to lean in close to see the alignment while the saw is running.

    Did you make anything with the triangle falloff? Make a shim jig to turn the falloff into a 10(?) Sided board, one glue up with ratchet strap for that one and it'd look awesome. I feel like this movie would be ten minutes shorter if we didn't see every single tiny table saw adjustment after every single glue up lol. Cool thing is knowing there is no need for measurements on any squares, just eyeball close enough. Looks good though.

    Rueben. I'm curious to know what grit you used on your drum sander for the first rough sanding. I have the same sander and cannot use it for end grain sanding since it burns the surface. I may be using too rough of a grit. Love your videos.. Thanks Rich

    • @hjp40
      @hjp40 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the same sander and the same problem. What I eventually came up with is setting the sander so that it barely touches the wood and then setting the speed fairly fast so heat doesn't built up. I use 120 grit paper for most all my sanding, but 80 may work a little better/fast with less burn.

    • @ricocamp1220
      @ricocamp1220 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hjp40 I switched from 80 grit to 120. Made a big difference. I use probably much less than a 1/16th turn lowering the drum for each pass as well. Feeder belt on max.

    Fantastic boards, just as a heads up running end grain through a planner is very dangerous. Eventually it binds and things get nasty. Speaking from experience I had one bind up about 1/4 way throught. Ended up breaking my hand and going through a cabinet when it got kicked out. I was told I was going to get bit one day didn't really believe it. I had done lots a boards, I learnt the hard way.

    • @rbwoodcreations1039
      @rbwoodcreations1039  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily. Yes, care needs to be taken, such as making very shallow passes. I can get a little more aggressive since my planer is a 5hp with a spiral cutter head; virtually no noticeable difference between planning face or end grain. I used to have a small dewalt planer that I would use for endgrain planning and it definitely took a bit more careful consideration on depth of cut. Still to this day, I usually only plane about 1/64" each pass. Curious as to what you were planning that you said bound up and got kicked out.
