I’ve made enough end grain boards to know how much work a “regular” design is. This was insanely well executed. So much time and patience. Scared the bejesus out of me with that first set of thin rips where your fingers were so close to the blade.
I thought the jointer was bad, the rip cuts were way worse. I started asking myself if the cut I was making was worth a finger. The answer is always no. No project is worth maiming yourself. There's always a safe way. You just have to be patient enough to find it and do it.
Table saw AND router table, gave me goose bumps. Don't try THAT home! Don't let the "It won't happen to me" syndrome get you. Familiarity breeds contempt. And all that jazz.
The amount of discrepancies/compounding error that was possible and likely to occur vs the incredibly small amount that did is truly a testament o your craftsmanship. WELL DONE indeed

Stellar combo of equipment and the skill/experience to utilize it to its fullest. Lots of patience and tolerance for tedium too. I feel like even if I had all those tools and some experience, a quarter of the way through the project I'd throw something through a window. Great work!

Well done. To do all of those cuttings and glue-ups and not have any gaps I'm impressed. I've done many cutting boards and this one is a project that is just outside my skill level. But it is something to strive to do. Is there a detailed plan for those of us who want to build this project?
Thank you! You could build this board. It is fraught with difficulties, but the finished board is a trophy for your skill and patience! I've wondered if there was interest enough in plans for such an arduous build. As far as I know, this is the first board built with this pattern, so I probably should put some plans out! @TheSidney3 thanks for responding. It irritates me that way too many of these videos that are informative won't respond to questions and leave you hanging. I've learned a lot of my woodworking techniques here because these skills are no longer taught in school and I would have to travel hundreds of miles to attend and woodworking shows that have seminars . Looking forward to your future videos and project plans.
I agree that this is the most interesting cutting board that I have seen. Extremely well thought out. I really don’t like negatives when you should be encouraging but I have to agree about hearing protection and dust control. It’s only when you get to my age, after more than 45 years of woodworking, that you find yourself wishing that you had taken greater precautions. I’m not sure what timbers you are using. Is one padauk? I was always taught that the dust from padauk was particularly bad for health and I genuinely don’t know about its safety when in contact with food. All that said, you’ve achieved the hardest part - of making something to be proud of.
