The old Holos were great and i love them. They are definitely superior to new Holos as well, but there are soooo many ex's, full arts and Alt arts that are just so much better than any Holo has ever been. There is also a lot of artistic talent and creativity going into these cards. I think you mostly prefer traditional holos due to nostalgia.
Of course there are also ugly designs for full arts and such, and i am not a big fan of the majority of 3d rendered card designs, but the gems are there and they are even more than in the past
I love the star pattern of base and the cosmos foil the most. McD style and HGSS are also great. Vertical lines are ok, but nothing excuses the sheen style they brought back for scarlet and violet. It's cheap looking.

One thing to note is that those boring holos in occidental cards actually look kinda cool in their japanese version, as their borders are also holo as well

The old school ones are my favorites. At first glance I thought the celebrations ones look great but that Pikachu head over the corner of the art make them look cheap in my oppinion. Great video man.

I’m a fan of the full foil rainbow cards. They take up the whole canvas and look more like how modern money looks. Like someone put it their time to line all the aspects of the card in foil. There are exceptions, but those are far beyond a small window painting.
What are the holos with the pokemon type. For example Doduo with a six sided holo star design?
I think in the future 2024 cards will be seen as good collectible cards

Notice how the Dutch Base Set Holos have Cosmos Holofoil instead of the Starlight Holo for the English Base Set Holos. And Dutch Base Set appear to all be "1999-2000" cards.
Cosmo Holofoil > Starlight Holofoil
The Original Japanese Base Set had the Cosmos Holofoil.
Unfortunately, French Base Set also had the Starlight Holofoil, like the English base set, and not the Cosmos Holofoil like the Ducth Base Set....

I'm a collector and i personally love all the cards up to skyridge. Anything after that is pretty lame, with some exceptions.

i like the new cards now the ones in the 2000s look boring and Taki to me and this is coming from a person who collected cards in the 2000s i like them more now
Nope older better. New cards suck. That's why they're easy to get and everywhere.
First 2 gens have the best holographic cards period. Everything since gen 3 changed and has been lazy.
