- It’s the drag race you never knew you needed to watch. Paul Maric drag races the $350k 2024 BMW i7 M70 against the $60k 2024 MG4 XPower to see which is quickest in a straight line from a standing start, along with during a rolling start!

Imagine rocking up at the lights in your boy race Wrexy or your hot hatch RS3 or even a $200,000-500,000 high performance sports/hyper car and some old Chinese woman in some budget looking MG comes up besides you and you both floor it and she absolutely obliterates you and merges in front of you like nothing happened. Your ego would be scarred and drop to the floor.
Say what you like but that MG is a special car. It's quick. Excellent test car expert team please do more of this content

I'd choose the mg4 xpower anyday, great value for money, and 0 to 100kmh in 3.8 seconds , very fast car for price of a normal car, nice in green too,

That i7 m70 has very impresive motors for that heavy body, put that technology in a i1 (eventually) and that would be a rocket.
I'm afraid they can't. The battery pack will be the whole floor and there will be no other crucial component to get included in. Maybe the i3, but with current battery technology and the i4 M50's emotors

Hi guys just viewed your drag test MG v BMW. I believe that in the MG menu there is a launch control menu which does some other magic stuff to make it quicker than just mashing brake and accelerator etc, but as I haven't actually been in or driven one, I may stand corrected. To be honest, I'm just a dumb old 77yr old fart that likes going fast
I was thinking of the GR Yaris against this MG
It would get slaughtered in both 0-100 1/4 mile. Just look at the times.
MG has a good product. BUT NEED TO BE much better on software Updating and OTA and profiling

EVs don't have the same top speed, MG 4 is limited to 200km/h the distance allows the ICE to catch up because the EV reaches top speed by hall way.
Let s be frank. You won't go over 150ish on country roads (if you push your luck) so the MG is not bad at all

These evs are heavy for their size, you don't want to be hit by one, like being hit by a landcruiser.
I mean, I had a Mercedes GLA45s, it weighed in at 1800kilos. That only had a 2.0 engine.
The equivalent, at least in my mind for drag race purposes in a small hatch would be this MG and the Mercedes Benz A45S (1650), Audi RS3 (1645kg) vs 1800.
Hell, even the performance Corolla weighs in at 1500 kilos..with a 1.6l 3cyl engine.
Sure, it weighs more, but the margin isn’t huge,especially when you get more room inside. Cars all around these days are big, fat, and heavy.

Land cruisers start at 2.5 tonnes, climbing to like 2.8, without any of the modifications people
put on them.

Even fewer of them would be sold en masse. things like luxo suvs are sure getting up there for weight, but you won’t see many at all on the road, compared to something like aforementioned Land Cruiser which seems to be every 10th car on the road.
Even this fully loaded I7 weighs less than the heaviest Land Cruiser.

In Europe Mg4 is at 36 k€...
I really think the MG4 X Power should have been fitted with real Brebmo brakes. For the extra money good brakes are worth way more. But nice race.
With regen braking of an electric car you don't need massive powerful brakes.....keep up.

0 - 100 figures need to be abolished.
the real world use is 60-100 or 80-120 as its has meaning for day to day driving use.
Drag racing is illegal on the roads, so no one could or should practice this in real life.
Also, prob less than 1% of people ever use their cars on the race track or closed roads.
It's a fun video for people who like cars, not meant to reflect the normal driving expectations or experiences 😮

Next time you are in china you will be shocked at the amount of ev cars, many with high milage taxis and work vehicles, same country that has 300 k per hour bullet trains running everywhere 😮

your paying for the luxury and peformance, I know some who have bought the BMW because its far more superior to the EQS 53 AMG. Also many people have gone past 200,000 km with their EV and warranties last for a very long time.
Buy one and review it at 100k.

I too am interested to see how battery life unfolds. Don't think that your statement will be reality, but time will tell. Battery technology will get better and cheaper over time, of course, so that does need to be factored in. And the EV maintenance and running costs have been significantly cheaper over that time as well. You're not paying the extortionate prices for fuel due to an oil cartel artificially raising global oil prices by limiting their supply on the global market. Electricity can be sourced primarily from your own rooftop solar if you have a solution in place at your house. Destination charging is also getting better and cheaper.
