MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - Today we’re going on an ultimate food tour in Melbourne to eat some of the tastiest and most iconic foods and to show the diversity of cultures and foods that are represented. It’s going to be a delicious food day and you’re not going to want to miss any of it!
Thank you to all my friends in the video:
    Sofia Levin ( / sofiaklevin )
    Chef Nick: / nick_bennett_sourdough
    Tess: / _tessstewart
Here are all the restaurants we visited on this Melbourne food tour:
    1. Hector's Deli (goo.gl/maps/8tacVthQndc8eSwu6) - Toasty sandwiches are extremely popular in Melbourne and Hector’s Deli serves some of the best!
    2. Pipi's Kiosk (goo.gl/maps/B57r5KatBfnkwjrz9) - Located right along the beach Pipi's Kiosk is known for their boat to table, Chef driven seafood.
    3. Ca Com Bánh Mì Bar (goo.gl/maps/SzsYcX1fe4gjs1cE6) - At this small Vietnamese banh mi bar they make everything fresh in house and everything is cooked over fire.
    4. Arbory Afloat (goo.gl/maps/LB9KRMKDzr57d7o88_ - In mid Afternoon we visited one of the most popular bars and the biggest floating restaurant in Melbourne. Drink and pizza are some of the best in the city with a lively atmosphere.
    5. Pidapipó Carlton (goo.gl/maps/MPGiYihVeMGima5B7) - In the evening we stopped to have some of the best gelato in Melbourne.
    6. Supernormal (goo.gl/maps/p16xRDoTTsUawMrX6) - Chef Andrew McConnell is one of the most well known chefs from Melbourne and we had a great meal at Supernormal, a Asian inspired restaurant.
    7. Komur (goo.gl/maps/6TRdE3Mw3bmSFDVT8) - Finally, I can say Komur was one of the best meals and best restaurants I ate at in Melbourne. Emir Uker comes from a lineage of kebab makers and his Turkish food will impress you, outstanding!

    • @IamMotionMedia
      @IamMotionMedia ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@drunkntigr i agree though I concede Ca Com was delicious when I visited, traditional banh mi or not. I somewhat speculate that he has been advised by thai chefs or friends working/living in Australia not necessarily those who are well versed in the best places to eat in Aus of present. Or dare I say maybe even such venues/people using his status as one food’s biggest influencers to bolster their presence/relevance through either complimentary invites or even monetary payment (he is not very transparent on this).
I consider myself well educated on great places to eat in most of Australia. loosely following the the Australian Good Food Guide (i have strong opinions on the AGFG as well) and more so other respectable foodies who’s opinions I trust.
I myself wouldnt even put the majority of these places as a must visit if i were to travel to melbourne. Sadly I think he has done Australia a bit of an injustice. But then again as an uninformed tourist youre probably searching for something unique and distinct to Australia. Which as a penal colony without a distinctly unique and identifiable cuisine is virtually nonexistent. To myself and many ordinary Australians what does seem exist is very mundane to say the least.

On my doorstep I have Turkish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Greek, Lebanese, Etheopian, Nepalise, Indian, Thai, Korean, West African, Malaysian, Mexican, Italian, Sri Lankan, South American, Japanese and a fair amount of fish & chips, burgers and kebabs.

This is what I love about my home, Australia. The multicultural diversity. That’s why we have such a broad range of foods here. You can sit at a table with a few mates, and everyone of them has a different cultural background, their parents or grandparents being from overseas, but each and everyone of those people, are fair dinkum Aussies. I love it! Melbourne is renowned for it, but even here in Hobart, Tasmania, it’s the same.

The problem is when they pronounce the name of the city as 'Mel-born' rather than 'Mel-burn' (as Mark is doing).
