For anyone wondering and for Ian, the sole DAF and the Volvo's had I6's, the Scania and the Iveco had V8's and the MAN TGA had a V10

@@Sjanzo yes. Huge engines altough not as strong as the Iveco 17.2L V8. The owner of the MAN told me they had braces under the block and between the "V". Only the Iveco V8 and Volvo D16 can make 3000+ Hp without braces.
@@WieDrDerJonge the MAN V10 was from the mid 70s and turbos were only added in the mid 80s. Its the MAN version of the Mercedes OM423 which Mercedes discontinued in the 90s...

@@SheratanLPWhile this is true, I doubt that in this verry specific case cigarettes would be someone biggest concern, asmathic or not.
Is indoors because all the fumes are collected (sucked in) filter that cleans and a particle filter( that neutralize most of harmful particles ) then exhausted in open air.
Its better than back in the days but i prefer outdoor. For me this sport is loud enough outside i dont need to be indoor to watch it. 🙂

They did some tests with a cleaner/washer in the 90's. All exhaust gassed went thrue a bath soppy water. It was like a wet T-shirt contest only with black soap.🤣

The Netherlands 🇳🇱 is home to a large Truck loving community. We also have huge tractor pulling events here.
Shame that only maybe Netherlands and Scandinavians have a good trucking culture and have some sort of respect for truckers work. I was doing all over Eourope and Scandinavians roads and only in Netherlands and Scandinavia people were respecting my work as a Truck driver. IT is very sad that you work hard and you are treated like a garbage. Especialy in Germany and France. IT was pure joy working on Norway as Truck driver. Maybe winter is not so pleasant but they respect Truck drivers there.
This is in the Netherlands, and you are right about the eurotrucks, they are great trucks.
That engine had so much torque, it almost twisted the truck in half!!!
The MAN have a v10 with 18.23 Liter with serial max 980 HP and in the Trucks max 660 HP. Gruß Alex
I've been with a truckpulling team years ago and actually had my hands on the second truck, the yellow scania. The team I ran with retired their scania (scania 92 cabover) and is now running a scania T164.
Competition wise, usually the first contester is allowed to re-run if the weight is changed after that first run but after that it stays the same for the first round.
Not been to this event. But I have seen shows like this.
For those that think the smoke is kind of thick. That is because water is injected to the cylinders with the fuel. Most of these kind of high performance pullers run on "clean" fuel.
The sled that they pull has a weight that slides forward and creates drag as it pulled.

The sled is a complex of gears which moves the weight anything up to 65.000LBS which will stop the truck dead

This is indoors so that the air is filtered and unnecessary exhaust gases are not released into the environment.

When you like it you should watch more of Pulling from Europe. Its pretty big in the Netherlands and they have many classes! Rhino Rocket a Magirus-Deutz is the best running puller in my opinion from the Supersport Trucks class in the Netherlands.

HI Iwrocker, most tractor pulls are such that need to complete and pull of 100 meter to clear that weight level pull.. The sled that they try to pull is always the same weight until all trucks have tried to pull it, I believe there is sometimes the option to retry a pull attempt.. And when the winner of that part is in, the go for a higher weight, and the sled can be adjusted on the fly for weight gain and there are tractor pull events where the sled the pull is mobile on the sled, to say, it slowly slides forward while there pulling it which increases the weight that is placed on the front wheels of the sled he's trying to pull that 100 meters, so making it even more difficult that get to that 100 meter mark.. I always loved tractor pulling when I was growing up, the engines and the raw power of all those machines, and many new inventions for the truck the market came from these kinds of sports

I live in Putten, it is indoors but you can hear it all over the town. I visited it once when it was outdoors and I have never heard anything louder.

Yup, in the Netherlands we love some tractor and truck pulling. Some crazy machines out there. I saw tractor pulling team "Q8 Team Popeye" once from up close in the late 80s... what a beast that was.

Hey so I know you've covered 4wd 24/7 before a couple of times, but if you look at their page again, they shipped over Shaun's "chopped 69 series (nicknamed the "sorry 30") tuebo diesel (right hand drive obviously), and a couple of other Aussie cars and have shipped them over been doing the 4wd tracks in the U.S.A.!!! Including Moab, and rocky mountains!
Ian, you NEED to watch like the first ones when they got there and the MOAB where they almost write off Shaun's chopped and kitted out 60 series landcruiser!
To bad you choose this video because it was not a spectecular event. Please check out the Magirus Deutz called Rhinorocket with the Iveco V8, that is the strongest one from The Netherlands. It puts out 3000+ Hp.

3:30 I think that volvo stated up in wrong gear and simply never got the momentum needed to get the engine up to a optimal torque.. So it basically come down on the back side of the torque curve, and when it did, it didn´t have a chance.
Ian you need to quickly checkout a Leopard 2 doing a full pull. It is one of the funniest things you will see. It just keeps going. There are a couple videos out there if you search for "Leopard 2 full pull" but the one from the Dutch military is the funniest. They try multiple times and succeed. Also tractor pulling is something you can check out, it is exactly the same as the truck pulling, but with tractors instead.
there's truck races in Québec (i don't know if those races exist anywhere else but, i'm sure they exist in Québec) 2 trucks side by side with 60 tons trailers... a regular drag race in Canada.
There's a massive truck parade for the trucks race Le Mans 24h (yes, Le Mans 24 h exists for trucks, with trucks)

the trucks with "beau" written on are from a company not far from where i live and i see them on the road regularly (all trucks in this company are fully personalized with a different theme for each truck)

There are vents in the roof, see how fast all that smoke clears, it doesn't get much chance to get into the crowds with the constant airflow.

Driving lessons for a truck is around 110,- euro/hour. Depends on your skills how fast, so cheap, you can get your papers. And then if you want to go for the specials, like hauling dangerous goods, you'll go for extra schooling to get those papers. So you don't drive a truck and think you can do it all. Except if you of course have all the papers but that is very expensive.

You should look into Herlevi racing team doing tractor/truck pulling in finland and sweden. Volvo titan truck!
These things have crazy amounts of power. Tractor pulling is Dutch hillbilly entertainment at its best :) That's a joke of course, but it is especially popular in the mostly agricultural east part of the country.
Not much is left stock on these trucks, only the body shell is sort of stock... The engines are tuned and modified like crazy. And that Iron Horse is running a bit rich.

Considering the video is from my home country i feel like i have the right to say what most Dutch people seem to agree on:
Trucks are cool, but i think truck pulling and drag racing etc with them is just extremely pathetic, trucks are amazing *_tools_* but if you wanna have fun there are a million better vehicle options available everywhere you look. This might sound odd until you give it some thought, but "if you wanna play tennis or golf you don't use a sledgehammer either" 🤷♂

Bruce willson imported a scania an did american pulling..30 year old truck..it did not go the best for unprepered race.
The trucks are cool, but I personally prefer the ‘regular’ tractor pull videos 😅 A lot more diversity in engine configuration and types. Plus they go boom every now and then, often in spectacular fashion 😅 I went to an event once many years ago, but when we got there it was just stock or slightly modified regular farm tractors that were competing, not the tractors with like 5 v8 engines or jet engines etc. It was kinda disappointing…
