      Did it work? I just replaced the sway bar end link and the clunk came back a few days later. I believe it must be the bushings.

    It could be a bad tie rod end or the sway bar bushing allowing the sway bar to move up and down a little. There is probably a slight amount of free play in the rack too. Ours has a little.

    Nice video, I have the same issue in a GM Captiva 3.6L
    Seems that both trucks share the same structure then I will try do the same as you did here too.

    Thanks for the video. Mine is a ‘16 model. I get a noise when braking to a complete stop, not any side to side turning. Does that sound like your symptoms?

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was a long time ago I don't remember too much about the symptoms. The sway bar noise would mostly be in turns. The best way to find a noise is use a pry bar and look for a lot of movement in any component.

    I have done brand new control arms with all new bushings and ball joint, new struts and strut mounts, end links for the sway bar. Clunk is worse! I’ve got sway bar bushings and new tie rods in the box in the garage, so tired of chasing this down.

      I finally gave up on the front end noise in that car. With almost 250k on it now I really don't care anymore.

      @@bryansprojects3570 well, I took it to the dealer. They re-seated one of the springs and clunk is gone. That’s on me. Somewhere in there I fixed it. I was ready to do the steering rack. 🙄

    I have a rattle sound every time I go over a bump do you think it’s the same part need replacing ?

    • @bryansprojects3570
      @bryansprojects3570  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would start with checking out the sway bar end links. That is a pretty common problem.

  • @austinlebaron1318

    What causes the noise in the front end that makes when you test the play in the steering wheel? My 2008 has always has a slight little play in the steering wheel and give a slight clunk sound when turning from side to side.

    • @forzdad

      It was bushings on steering rack for me.

      A little clunk when moving the steering wheel back and forth is normal on these SUVs. I’m not saying it’s acceptable, but unfortunately it’s normal.
