Chosen 1 online is great it’s one of the reasons I play because it can get really competitive. Most players only get 100,000-200,000 points but when you get lucky and someone good joins its high stakes fun where every challenge is race. Maybe you land a 6 mill combo on mambo combo so you stop but then noticed one guy’s trick string is at 84 and you panic to start another combo.

When I went back to play I didn't have anything really memorized. It took me about 8 hours. Still not a lot but more than 2 or 3. You're right about that roof to rail gap. Man...so frustrating.
Yeah, chances are you won't be done in a jiffy unless you've been playing either of the original games in the last couple of years. I had no idea where anything was.
I played one of the female characters and she looked like a lean jock type. I got all the stat points and watched her video, turns out she has very round features that were just completely missed in her character model.
@Ocean Lemon I would feel a little ripped off if I was Leticia. It looked like all of the character models had to work with motion capture from a Male actor.
Honestly, I still enjoy this game...sure, it was kinda anti-climatic at the end, but nonetheless, I really enjoyed this game. Now, Tony Hawk said if this game became a success, he wants to make a new game. Me? I would say an Underground remaster would be nice...but that's just me
Personally I rather get a THPS3 expansion and probably a 4 Remake. I did hear word that they might make a new Tony Hawk game after the Remake(s) success. Just like what they're doing with Crash Bandicoot atm
Maybe the Taco Bell gong is on purpose I did a book report on tony hawk in 5th grade and one of the only things I remember from it is that tony really liked Taco Bell
The only thing that doesn't fit is that the two ramps that are on the sides of the fountain where there's a sculpture seemed to look that way on purpose, now it seems like they are ramps due to it having collapsed at some point.
11:59 There was a stat point in that area while playing as Leticia. Also about the difficulty, I thought the game was pretty standard tony hawk at least for the tours. But then I went onto reddit, youtuber, 4chan and saw people legit struggling with some of the easier levels. Heck one streamer spent two hours just on the mall level alone. It's not that I think the game is easy I just think those of us with prior knowledge are just too good. You can also see this in the online where alot of people struggle to get combos above 50k.
The stat point locations are actually different for each skater. Some of Tony Hawk's stat points are actually located in the wind tunnel and carlsbad gap location

If you complete the 714 challenges let us know, this is a hell of a game, all those years playing thug were worth paying, without those skills I would not finish this game. This one is by far the most challenging Tony Hawk game to date, 22 million score for a challenge? that's beautiful, my record was 75 million on thug school 2 (only level and only tony hawk game to reach that amount), I know it's not too much and some people can do billions, but it was challeging enough for my capacity, and this is the first game that actually requires 22 million combos just for a challenge and that's what I like the most about this game. I currently have 674/714. The challenges that I hated the most: All gaps skate heaven Bandana banana shit An imaginary school thps1 speedrun under 1:30 minutes, the one of 1:30 minutes was for school 2, but I didn't see the 2, so I look for a speedrun record and tried to replicate, it was like 2 hours in vain T.T. Rad Rat, in Downhill Jam, you can do the Madonna Gap the way you are doing it. But the reason it is not always working for you is this; you are suppose to take a hard right off the kicker ramp at the top of the pipes. This will get you the gap every time. In the Carlsbad Gap, I have a Stat point in that hidden area, and I don't have one inside the gym, above the pool? In Marseille, my stat points are in different areas as well.
already beat the game. biggest complaints are that collectable objectives dont pull towards the player, meaning you can be an inch away from a skate letter and not get it. also gaps are a bit wonky right now as far as registering where you start and end. case in point is the manual gap across the humps in philly. its a large section but the gap wont register unless you manual only over one very thin part of the gap. also just a personal gripe but not being able to flip a hats orientation, the lack of more female specific clothing and there being no solid color socks or socks you can edit the colors on bothers me but obviously those are only cosmetic.
Yeah, i got a little dissapointed with the character creation aswell, in every game i make a female skater, but in this one every girl i make just ends up looking more like a guy.
Yeah i noticed that with some gaps especially grind gaps like in School 1 where you have to pop off the funbox onto the playground wall you have to land precisely from the start off the wall even the tiniest bit over it won't count, with max stats especially i had to lower them because i kept going too far.
In the Minneapolis level, the major secret tape roofgap I would not clear it yet hit the very edge and wall and still be able to register as a gap. Which allowed more frustration in having to go back up again for the even crazier third rooftop gap. Still a lovely game.
There's at least three mistakes in this video: 1. The hangar secret room does actually have a stat point for certain skaters, and 4 gaps, so it's not completely useless. 2. School 2 secret area has stat points too in at least two places depending on the skater, and has several gaps too, so that's not entirely useless either. 3. The bullring poop does actually give you money, in the form of a challenge completion. You have to destroy all the poop to get an avatar and some money + XP, it's a secret challenge
Rad Rat I have a Question: what would the universe look like if Vicarious Visions had made 2012's THPSHD or even THPS5 instead of Robomodo? Would those games have been better?
Because he's been asked and told many things through TH-cam comments, particularly various pieces of advice during his THUG Zero Stats run, and in the next video he was oblivious to whatever we said in the previous ones. He only answers through Patreon.
Great review! Totally agree on Rodney's model. For the wind tunnel and Carlsbad gap areas, there are stat points there for vert skaters (locations are different between vert, street, and park). I agree that the score goals felt way too easy. I did most of them in single combos

No you can beat it in two hours. Not everyone is as good as you. For example I’ve had the game for about three days now and I literally have not touched the tours yet
Completing all level objectives isn't really "beating the game" either. There are still hundreds of other challenges, many of which are way harder too. And multiplayer!
For sure. I haven't played Tony Hawk in like 15 years and don't remember these levels like the back of my hand like he does. So it's taking me a lot longer to find everything on each level. But I'm also in no rush, just super stoked to have a good Tony Hawk game again.
Ronnie Henry I could not agree more. I’m having more trouble with the scores than actually finding everything but I am enjoying every second of it. The only thing that will stop me from playing this game is crash bandicoot 4’s release next month XD

They did put a stat point in the wind tunnel, it depends on the style of your chosen skater (vert/street/park). Stat points for vert are generally placed above quarter pipes etc. Street is more flatground and park is a combination (but still uses different spots from both street and vert).
Great video! I will say the stat points locations change depending on what character you're using, so there was one in the Hanger's "useless room" for my Custom Skater.
The thing you missed was that some of the new stuff is through challenges, There are multiple categories, and you need to complete all of the Create-A-Skater categories before unlocking Jack Black (Officer Dick) That's where those hidden areas come in, as many of the challenges involve getting a certain score with limited tricks involving a gap. Like the hidden area in Hangar.
To be fair, that is a textbook Nollie Inward Heelflip... It’s one of my favorite and most satisfying tricks, and it’s quite different from the Nollie Varial Kickflip.
FYI if you play as a vert or park skater the stat points are in different spots. IIRC both include stat points in the Hangar wind tunnel area. Also, there are platinum high schools and even more ambitious high scores for every level. They're in the challenges section.
For the Madonna gap you can do it by grinding first on one of the pipes and then popping off of it and doing a Madonna the rest of the way down. Doing a Madonna down the whole thing, at least with the stats you have at that point, makes it seemingly impossible to do one from the top all the way down to the bottom.

Just a heads up, the stat points change locations depending on your skaters style (vert, street, park). Vert skater have a stat point in the secret room of Hangar, which you said should have had a stat point in at least.
I noticed depending on skate style Street, Vert, Park the stat points are in different locations so that roof gap area in school 2 had a stat point on the quarter pipe when I used Tony Hawk but not Rodney Mullen and as Tony i noticed most stat points were on vert parts of a level.
The wind tunnel in the Hangar isn't useless. All areas in all levels can hold a stat point based on the style your skater has (Street, Vert, or Park). I used a created skater with Park style and had a stat point in the wind tunnel
2 of the gaps are glitched in skate heaven. The ‘gutter to San dieguito roof’ and ‘feed me.’ I’ve done the San dieguito one like 10 times but it won’t register on my list and the feed me gap just doesn’t show up even when I go through the center of the volcano. They’re my last 2 gaps so it’s pretty frustrating. Anybody else dealing with this?
Hey, so as a counter to the secret areas that are empty. The stat points will be in different areas with each skater you choose. So the awning after the library in School 2 actually had a stat point for me,
Does anyone know if there is a way to track which levels still have a Vicarious V remaining to be collected? It seems to be overlooked and to 100% complete the whole game is gonna suck not knowing if I got it or not.
There actually is a stat point for your created skater in the Hangar wind tunnel. The stat points are in different places based on which skater you're using.
The way the huge water hazard gap is supposed to work is by hitting the kicker to the left of the hole and ollieing over the entire hole and landing at the end of the pipes. No rail transfers needed.
i feel like they are shifting the focus of the game towards the challenges. the classical 2min runs get you into it, but the challenges are where it´s at in the end. there is so much stuff to do and it´s primarily focused on actually skating instead of just finding stuff. i makes sense to me and i enjoy it a lot. if they ever make a pro skater 6 i can imagine they would rather go that challenge route for all the characters and perhaps and optional classic mode. i´d buy that. p.s.: every body talks about the alien dolls and the vv logos while i´m trying to find all the secret graffities those are also super hard.

Maybe you land a 6 mill combo on mambo combo so you stop but then noticed one guy’s trick string is at 84 and you panic to start another combo.
My 7 year old son Bryson wants to learn to skate because of this Game & I'm 99.9% sure that was the intention of THPS 1+2 in the 1st place...
I am quite sure the intention was to make as much money as possible. But good on your kid being inspired to skate
hell yeah, i started skating when THPS 4 came out i was like 6
According to Mr. Hawk the hope was just to get skateboarders to buy a playstation. An unexpected triumph for sure
That’s the most beautiful comment I’ve read all day
Underground 2 did it for me
on console there is an achievement/trophy for completing all hard "get there" challenges and it's actually insanely skill based and pretty challenging. I'm having a lot of fun doing each level's challenge but I feel like most people will completely overlook the feature
Agreed the challenges are where the difficulty ramps up, platinum scores are your 'sick' mode sick scores etc.
The mall one is so hard 😣
I forget all about those ones till I had to do em and its the last achievement I have to get
@@Merit16 if thats hard, wait until you do the Roswell and Bullring Get There's. fucking infuriating lol
@@TheKingpinChemist great🤦♂️ I've done mall and a few others haven't got to bull ring or roswell yet
I wish they would give you the option to get the goals again with different characters. I think it’s the best part of the game
yea i found it disappointing that once i finished everything that was it for the most part. All goals unlocked forever. I swear in the old games each character had their own campaign. After i got all the goals unlocked all stat points i felt very little reason to keep playing. Feel like they biffed it pretty hard on the replay value overall. I know theres more content but its just boring now that most things are unlocked and theres no more progress to be made in any way. If i wana collect stat points you just go from map to map collecting them its really boring.
You can play Speed Run though and do them as many times as you like ;)
@@h3rteby but that is not the same at all.. and it's 100% after all so you don't feel that you need to do it because there is almost nothing to do and I think you can't even collect the collectables in the speed run mode, that's stupid too..
Totally agree. Back in the day I spent hours getting 100% in career mode with every character. Now, I've done it once and that's it. The speed run just doesn't feel the same as progressing through the levels with your stats increasing as you progress
Different characters have at least a hundred different goals each? What are you talking about?
17:21 bruh literally just drop off and manual instead of doing an Ollie
I know right
I really hope they will remaster thps 3 and 4 aswell but new thps game would be dope too
They'll have to do them separately
@@hellrose18 Well... if they do the original PS1 versions they can bundle them together. But I guess the PS2 versions are more canon. (I only played the PS1 ones and it is basically the same game over and over with some additions).
@Ocean Lemon no they can't, 3 and 4 played totally different from each other, what are you talking about?
hoping they do a 2x extra level map pack
The first TH Underground too thats great
I am in LOVE with this game! But I totally agree some of the nostalgia is lost with the lack of cash icons. Also, some levels are changed, and small fun things are lost... like in THPS1 San Francisco, the cop car is no longer in front of a donut shop... I always thought that was funny so was a little random they changed it to a diner.
God forbid someone be offended by it...
Cool to see how things have changed over 20 years (not necessarily for the better)
At least the Officer Dick trophy is still called Donut mess with a cop so they kept a little of the cop jokes humor and just hid it elsewhere kind of.
Good. The cash icons were awful in Pro Skater 2 as you had to collect them with every single skater. "Nostalgia" be damned.
I love this game, THUG and THUG2 will always be my overall favorite but I’m personally stoked that I can finally use my SJ grip in a skateboarding game without it being modded in 🤘
You forgot that there is a multiplayer mode (online and split screen)! Also the community maps are a very big thing for long term motivation.
They shoulda put you in thps 1+2

I mean, it sounds like you play these games all the time. I used to play them a lot years ago. I didn't look back once underground came out.
I feel like someone dropped the face scan files for Rodney and Elisa all over the floor, then put them back together wrong :D
Tbf Rodney's old man -face is so messed up that trying to animate it is like trying to animate human eyes realistically.
@ for real.
@ People who like the skaters. Someone always has to come in crying "pandering".
Honestly, I still enjoy this game...sure, it was kinda anti-climatic at the end, but nonetheless, I really enjoyed this game.
Now, Tony Hawk said if this game became a success, he wants to make a new game. Me? I would say an Underground remaster would be nice...but that's just me
That's the whole community
Personally I rather get a THPS3 expansion and probably a 4 Remake. I did hear word that they might make a new Tony Hawk game after the Remake(s) success. Just like what they're doing with Crash Bandicoot atm
Maybe the Taco Bell gong is on purpose I did a book report on tony hawk in 5th grade and one of the only things I remember from it is that tony really liked Taco Bell
That’s awesome.
It's called subliminal advertising. Nintendo did itin Mario Kart 8 with the starting line jingle sounding like the McDonald's jingle
The only thing that doesn't fit is that the two ramps that are on the sides of the fountain where there's a sculpture seemed to look that way on purpose, now it seems like they are ramps due to it having collapsed at some point.
That's cool
This game is a masterpiece and a strong contender for game of the year, regardless of anything.
Byrdx I agree but I don’t feel like it might get GOTY. Ghost of Tsushima and cyberpunk might win that,
But it might, it’s also another high chance.
ProtectYaNeck At this point cyberpunk better be the best game ever made lmao
I do agree those games have more structure and definitely fit the narrative of being the best games but this hold a lot more value under a ton of circumstances. Especially for the ones who aren’t here to experience the new era of a game they loved more than any other.
But I do agree entirely.
@GoFuckYourself DumbFuck I really do think it was an incredible game pushed by investors, fans and devs. After beating it 3 different times, it’s one of my favorite stories ever. But it is shameful the way it launched and still somewhat plays today.

Been waiting for this review!
Beat it pretty quick... We'll see.....
The challenges that I hated the most:
All gaps skate heaven
Bandana banana shit
An imaginary school thps1 speedrun under 1:30 minutes, the one of 1:30 minutes was for school 2, but I didn't see the 2, so I look for a speedrun record and tried to replicate, it was like 2 hours in vain T.T. No wonder why I got 4th place in ps4 leaderboard.
Nah ur totally underselling this game. This is everything you would want in a THPS remake. And its not like we can look forward to a new game next year. These remakes will only happen if they keep getting support.
the game already sold over a million copies in the first 10 ten days, the fastest game to reach a millions in the franchise, we are totally getting a new game next year
@@Jonathan11225 he doesn't seem excited...this is everything we want from a remastered THPS 1+2.....just because it took him 2 hours to beat the main tours doesn't mean it's bad or less content
In the carlsbad section in 2, when I was Mullen and Koston there was nothing aside from the secret tape right before it but as a custom skater there was a stat point on the awning.
The create a park feature is super deep. I'm obsessed
Definitely. I wish we didn't have to unlock and buy pieces though.
@@blackbrixeli 1000%... I mean I like the ability to unlock stuff but the level 60-100 unlocks are excessive and I will literally never get to 100. They should cap the CAP unlocks at level 50. i had a stat point inside the wind tunnel, I believe they switch it every so often upon you skating with different characters
There is a stat point in the wind tunnel, it just depends which character you're playing on, it's not there for all of them.
EdStead it’s there if the skater is Vert.
@@klaytonrocks Ah right, I thought maybe every skater had unique locations but is it just 1 location for vert and 1 for flatland?

Yep. Ended up not wearing socks at all because of this.
You can do it with every character play the speed run mode 8:36 That challenge is so easy use the ramp 10:58
Bro that looks exactly like rodney mullen
There's at least three mistakes in this video:
He doesn't read the TH-cam comments, don't bother.
Absolutely. Vicarious Visions to put it simply are just more competent developers than Robomodo
@@PanekPL How do you know?
Because he's been asked and told many things through TH-cam comments, particularly various pieces of advice during his THUG Zero Stats run, and in the next video he was oblivious to whatever we said in the previous ones. He only answers through Patreon.

Great review! Totally agree on Rodney's model. For the wind tunnel and Carlsbad gap areas, there are stat points there for vert skaters (locations are different between vert, street, and park). I agree that the score goals felt way too easy. I did most of them in single combos

That secret place in the hanger had a stat point for me, I think it depends on whether or not your skater street or vert
They should really add like the oringinal thps1 and 2 from the ps1 as like an emulator that would be cool
11:59 at Carlsbad they're actually CAN BE something. There are different locations for all skater types: street, vert and bowl (the latter one is weirdly only applied to one charachter, the Japanese girl)
Simon Herteby I just finished the multiplayer trophies. I wanted to get those out-of-the-way first but yes you are right the challenges I’ve looked at look way harder than the actual tour mode
@@tommyherrick8220 I still need to play the N. Sane Trilogy. Crash Bandicoot is just as much a part of my childhood as Tony Hawk. So I would love to get back into those games again. The new one looks awesome!
They did put a stat point in the wind tunnel, it depends on the style of your chosen skater (vert/street/park). Stat points for vert are generally placed above quarter pipes etc. Street is more flatground and park is a combination (but still uses different spots from both street and vert).
It does look like Rodney, the way he looks now. Don't be so nitpicky
Great video! I will say the stat points locations change depending on what character you're using, so there was one in the Hanger's "useless room" for my Custom Skater.
Dis gon be good
17:29 its pretty easy to manual out of that grind, just make sure you dont jump of the last rail and just go straight into a manual and go left.
kinda weird u didnt mention multiplayer at least once
The thing you missed was that some of the new stuff is through challenges, There are multiple categories, and you need to complete all of the Create-A-Skater categories before unlocking Jack Black (Officer Dick)
That's where those hidden areas come in, as many of the challenges involve getting a certain score with limited tricks involving a gap. Like the hidden area in Hangar.
They will charge more than 10 bucks if they make thps3 dlc
If you select 'park' as your create-a-skater style, there are stat points in the wind tunnel and the Carlsbad area.
you are the only person in the world who will whine about a tony hawk nollie varial kickflip animation
To be fair, that is a textbook Nollie Inward Heelflip... It’s one of my favorite and most satisfying tricks, and it’s quite different from the Nollie Varial Kickflip.
so I'm the second
ikr hes like super specific lmaoo that shit probably on his to-do list on game reviews
Hey, just want to say thanks for all the effort you put into this channel. It must be so much work on top of having a job and dealing with everything else in life. So yeah, thanks dude from sunny England!
They really need to make it an option to pick what kind of online game you wanna play. I just wanna play for best scores or combos. And maybe able to pick the level without doing it locally....
I heard somewhere that the official story for the mall is that is was closing back in the 90s because supposedly there are closing and going out of business signs. The 2020 version is that same mall after it’s been closed and abandoned for 2 decades.
PSA: in Downhill Jam the best way to Madonna the water hazard is to air off the kicker to the left of it
There was a stat point in the hangar for me. The skill point locations change depending on whether youre street/vert/park.
I also had an issue with that rooftop gap. Landed on the rail with weak stats then overshot about 5-6 times before finally getting it. Lol.
This game is so fun.
The wind tunnel does have a stat point in it if you play as a very skater, there's different locations for the different types of skaters
A downloadable THPS3 DLC? No, not again, please not, no DLC, I want a physical THPS3... but I think they already said THPS3 will be next gen. And 4 I think too and after that original new stuff (I still hope they will make THUG and THAW though.. and maybe THUG2, would make sense as THUG 1+2)
I feel so dumb, but how do you get the hard wheel sound?! My characters all have super soft sounding wheels and I really want that old school snappy skate sound effect. Anybody know how to change this?! I’ve bought multiple sets of wheels and no change.... thanks!!!
Just a heads up, the stat points change locations depending on your skaters style (vert, street, park). Vert skater have a stat point in the secret room of Hangar, which you said should have had a stat point in at least.
The secret hanger room has a stat point sometimes. Same with the secret area in school 2
Skipped the spoiler only for you to show me you doing tricks as a fucking Alien near the end, niceee
Ive been waiting for this one! Thanks for putting this out, I love your channel :)
The mall was either closed or closing in the original game. You can tell by all the clearance signs.
In the game mods menu there's a stats option. The options are: default, super stat, and expert. There's your sick difficulty
Hey, so as a counter to the secret areas that are empty. The stat points will be in different areas with each skater you choose. So the awning after the library in School 2 actually had a stat point for me,
Such a beautiful thing. Venice Beach looks incredible, plenty of high score opportunities just like there always was.
Was that an 8-bit version of Drunken Lullabies as background music?
Does anyone know if there is a way to track which levels still have a Vicarious V remaining to be collected? It seems to be overlooked and to 100% complete the whole game is gonna suck not knowing if I got it or not.
There actually is a stat point for your created skater in the Hangar wind tunnel. The stat points are in different places based on which skater you're using.
The way the huge water hazard gap is supposed to work is by hitting the kicker to the left of the hole and ollieing over the entire hole and landing at the end of the pipes. No rail transfers needed.
For the madona gap on downhill jam i went off the ramp to the left of those two rails.
There's also a 3rd hidden collectible that you have to find. You need to wall ride a Monkey Graffiti in every level.
I'm surprised he didn't mention this at all
i feel like they are shifting the focus of the game towards the challenges. the classical 2min runs get you into it, but the challenges are where it´s at in the end. there is so much stuff to do and it´s primarily focused on actually skating instead of just finding stuff. i makes sense to me and i enjoy it a lot. if they ever make a pro skater 6 i can imagine they would rather go that challenge route for all the characters and perhaps and optional classic mode. i´d buy that.
p.s.: every body talks about the alien dolls and the vv logos while i´m trying to find all the secret graffities those are also super hard.
