You can beat the game of s.k.a.t.e. with a glitch. Before starting the challenge go into the drainage ditch on your right, grab a metal barrier, drag it up top and put it in between the ramp and the original metal barrier. Koston and Carroll will wig out and bail on every turn. Fuck s.k.a.t.e.

Same here. I love pushing that little park to its limits. There's a surprising amount you can do in such a small area. Once they finish the whole game, it's going to be insane. I'm already dreaming of the custom mods the community is sure to come out with in the years to come.
It's a shame the filmer pack is no longer available for Skate 2. Skate 2 had the best ragdoll physics out of the whole series. I'm surprised you didn't touch on the Hall of Meat aspect as that was part of the fun with Skate 2.
There's a glitch u can do do beat the game of skate easy. U have to go down the spillway a bit and grab a bike rack and drag it back to the challenge area where u place it right in front of the other bike rack. You start the challenge and they always bail for some reason. It's a nifty trick

Honestly only the map is better. Everything else is superior in Skate 3. I wish there was a way to play Skate 3 is San Van. Everything in Skate 3 seems oversized. It's like the people who designed the map and the people who designed the skaters weren't working for the same company.

The Half-Cab directions were right when you played as a goofy skater, but if you do half-cabs as a regular skater, they're reversed. I figured they just couldn't decide between the historically correct way or the more modern used "same as nollie" way.
In my opinion skate 2 is the best game ever made, it feels alot more realistic compared to skate 3. The caracters looks more natural on their board and you can really understand how much they have worked on the motion of the caracters, also skate 2 have so more good spots compared to skate 3 in my opinion. And this comes from a non skater, thx.

I️ think Skate 2 was the best overall. Story was fun, good gameplay. Street spots were solid, parks were fun and soundtrack was by far the best IMHO. It just seemed a little more grungy vs skate 3 seemed really bright and colorful and seemed more for little kids. Skate 3 had the dark slide which was a fun trick addition but overall I️ liked skate 2 the best. What do you guys think ? All of them were great skateboarding games I like them better than THPS games
southsideshenanigans skate 3 seemed rushed as the textures had no detail, making them look more colorful or cartoonie. Skate 2 had tons of detail that made it feel like a lived in city,much more realistic to me.
@@poodudeelite That's how I've always felt about THPS 3 and 4. I know that's Holy ground for some people but they never lived up to 2 to me, which I still play to this day.
I beat the game of skate by doing 360 shuv 540's and 540 triple kickflips and some really unrealistic spin combos. Once you spin 540, it seemed like the AI just gave up for the most part.
On the Xbox they did an update that changed the Koston and Carroll challenge so you start setting the trick. I think it also made it easier for them to bail. It's hard to beat it legitimately but not impossible. They can't land any kind of triple flips and usually can't do 540s. Other than that you just have to get lucky. First time I actually beat it Carroll says something along the lines of "best two out of three" so I pressed A thinking I had to do another round but it actually just retried the challenge. I lost the second round so I had to win all over again.
I have played so much of this game I never want to lay eyes on it again in my life. It definitely is my favorite skateboarding game ever, but after playing over, god, it has to be at least a thousand hours, I am done with it for the rest of my life. Edit: The best way to beat ANY pro at a game of skate in these games is just to do 540s. They can't do them, at all, and they will do shit that is not even close to what you did, and miss every time.

The thing i like the most about skate 2 was that you needed to call this characters to come help you for exaple drain pools and stuff, I wanted that in skate 3 so bad🤣
I just looked at your review ... I bought this game when it came out on the xbox 360 and now it's backward compatible on the Xbox One. Today I'm starting to play career again. Although games like Skater XL have been released, Skate2 is the best skateboard game - the best career, challenges and lots of fun. By the way: I made the basketball hoop challenge very quickly. The most difficult task for me was Vert with Vampire - jump up to window. So much nostalgia. I've gone through my career about 20 times and I still enjoy it over and over again.
So let’s get this straight... in the beginning of the game you are released from jail sentenced for skating that huge Dam. In the end of the game you go BACK there and literally film and take photos of yourself there again and after literally draining an entire dam.... makes sense.

Are you sure you can't get on Krooked? I don't remember that. But I agree Skate 1 was the most significant of all 3. The first game in a series always has the most heart and soul put into it. And it had the best soundtrack too, by far. They did such a legit job representing Skateboarding culture in a videogame, and I sometimes feel like that fact is underappreciated among skaters today.
I would agree if you could have just got off your board lol. I hated being stuck at the bottom of stairs or something and attempting to find a way up 😂 story wise tho I think it was the best. And the sponsor system was best too imo
the original skate's gameplay was the best. It felt a lot more real and raw. Skate 2 felt too easy, and skate 3 had awful gameplay (could barely skate rails, especially on hardcore). If skate 1 had an off-board feature, I wouldn't play any other skate game. I don't see how hard it could be to update that feature in. Or maybe if it was on PC it could be modded? Either way, original skate is the best.
Session is the greatest skate sim in the world, learning to play and skate is the closet thing virtually to feel like actual skating. It's early access on steam and I'd say anyone who skates would enjoy it. It's not a tricklining game, it's a skate sim. Putting on some tunes at night and skating the Brooklyn banks is so cathartic
also there's a glitch with the game of skate where if u skate far enough away that it needs to load to return to the table jump thing an extra metal barrier will spawn in causing your opponents to not even attempt the jump.
Also, stoked as hell you shouted out ValleyBoy at the end! That first clip with the bonk was beautiful!! If you want to watch a definitive full length video of Skate 2 I would definitely recommend ABD by BKS which is a favorite of many. It's insane how smooth and real they made it look. Also, I wanted to note that with the filming and key frames people often make the camera glitch when filming in order to make it look a certain way. I'll link a video with this comment to explain how it's done, but people often make the camera go under the lowest allowed mm of 24 to somewhere in between 19-10 mm most of the time while also being able to make a long lens that goes way over the allowed 75 mm to 200-300 mm and beyond. Ryan Portwood It's actually crazy how immersed everyone got into the filming of it. I actually had a team called Illusion and I had fun filming and editing for that for a few years.
8:58 I feel like the only person that barely had any trouble with this challenge. Basically what I did was sort of an exploit, I don't know if anyone else knows this. What I did was basically hit the lightly tapped the handplant button as I was going up the quarter pipe, and that sort of helps with your alignment, soon as I got up the hoop I was able to handplant with no issue. I'm probably not the only one that did this but just a tip if anyone replays this game and that challenge. Let me know if it worked.
the Koston and Carrol one is just a plain unfair challenge and almost everyone (including myself) just opted to cheating that one so that the CPU always bails. The liptrick basketball hoop one is broken too. The spot you have to hit is extremely small and precise and because the thing glitches out a bit from distances, it's not worth doing it legit. THAT one i DID do legit. It sucked. I honestly do find this game to be the best on the SKATE series with Skate 1 at 2nd place. Skate 3 was a broken mess for me and Skate It just plain sucked. But best skating game of all time? ...i prefer the fun and ridiculousness of the Tony Hawk games more than SKATE, as the SKATE series was just less enjoyable for me and definitely seemed like only people who want the "most realistic skating experience ever" and just want to skate around for hours, doing tricks and such without any goals or anything, would enjoy this more, since after completing this game 100%, i haven't touched it in years because there was really nothing else for me to do, the whole filming thing got very boring and online was impossible for me at the time and sort of still is nowadays (hurray for australian internet and dead servers). I like it, but i stick by the notion that if i want the "true skateboarding experience", i'd grab my board and skate for real, because if this went full on with the simulation, the dam jump and Danny Way challenges would be impossible as your skater should be basically dead after even attempting to land it and some of those challenges.
I think it would be cool if you did a video / series similar to shred school, but from the angle of helping 25+ year olds re-learn when there getting back into it. Maybe go over tricks, or environments, what will be different than you remember, or specific approaches for those of us less limber.
2 was the best skate game hands down by the way. Made 3 feel stiff and bulky and the bail system was tight. You can also do a quick 180 then set up switch and the character actually looked like he was skating switch, counted as nollie I think but who cares. that game would be the soul reason for buying a xbox360 today
TIPS: (for anyone who comes back or new to this video) - 1) - (All 3 Games) If you do the down button gesture. it will make the NPC people run away scared. it's a good way to get them to move out of the way of things you wanna skate. i think you can do this in all 3 skate games but in know it works in Skate 2 & 3 for sure. Not 100% if it works in 1 tho. im pretty sure it should tho. 2) (In Skate 2 & 3) There's an option when you are grabbed onto an object to "Lock To Session Marker" which means everytime you go back to your maker it will move the object back to exactly where you had it so if it does move you don't need to worry about getting that perfect spot again. it will go back on its own.
Also I figured out that the best way to beat that super hard S.K.A.T.E. challenge is to do all 540’s. The best way to do it is by moving *both* the sticks in the same direction that you’re turning. It takes some experimenting!
There is also an object you can move to help with the Koston Challenge. If you bring a separate rail up to the Rail they use to play the game of S.K.A.T.E, their Brains get wiped of any Skateboard knowledge and they just walk on the Ramp
Pro Tip: You can actually get Skate 2 to run at 60(?)FPS on PS3 simply by disabling the VSync in the options. Yeah, the screen will tear like crazy from that point forward. But if you're like me and usually don't notice it or it doesn't bother you, it pretty much gets rid of framerate issues and improves the game significantly. More games from that era should have had that option.
remember when jaws rubbed deoderant underneath his wheels to stop wheelbite? skate couldve been so much more realistic by adding this feature... "Press X to apply Old Spice"
On the Backboard one I had no issues, I think you have to place the quarter pipe farther away from the backboard and your guy will kinda basically "Pull" toward it.
Skate 3 was my first skate game I played. After that I bought skate 2 and boyyy I felt in love with the game. The city, the lighting, the soundtrack, the challenges, the contact system.. still love skate 2
I have a couple videos on my channel called FAKE SKATEBOARDING that are parts I made in Skate2, totally forgot about them till recently and it reminded me how realistic it was compared to part 3. I remember some of the tricks just being so challenging but looking so good when you land them. I'm disappointed I can't play my DLC areas without an online account though.
Here’s a glitch to beat Eric and mike In skate. Once the game starts and you have your turn go to the right of the rail and table and go straight until you get to a path with a yellow rail on the side and go down the path with the rail until your time runs out. When it runs out and you get a black loading screen with the text boxes you have done it right. One thing that will happen is it will load a second rail and mike and Eric will both bail every single try, or there won’t be a extra rail but a orange barrier on the side and you have to get lucky that Eric and mike will bail so you can move the barrier (also the orange barrier will be there with the extra rail) I hope this helped anyone who was having trouble with it.
If you ever go back and play that “can you spell girl” challenge just keep doing triple kicks and heels. Add 180s and 360s. They can’t do them at all. It took me a solid hour to beat it without that.
I noticed that if you do a flip trick with a 180 it will either add a 180 or cancel a 180 of the flip trick. Try some bigflips or bigspins in both directions fsbv bsbv and slow mo it.

I love skating, but I'm 300 lb. First kick flip I landed, broke my buddy's POS $40 board. Of course I paid him $45, but haven't gotten on a board since. Never even learned a manual. Just Ollie and kick flip. I wanted to learn to tre flip
If you want to beat Koston and Carroll at skate, do triple flips and 540s. The AI has no idea what to do with it, and will just do a random trick and get a letter. Be careful when you win the game of skate though, the retry and continue bottons are switched (at least on PS3) from what they usually are. Why they would do this I have no idea. But it really sucks having to retry this challenge after being at it for 15 minutes.
in that backboard mission you have to hold the handplant button before you even hit the quarterpipe, it seems counter intuitive because youd expect it to just make you handplant the qp but it works, ive done it a bunch of times now
east coast and west coast skateboarding are different culture. fs/bs swaps a lot. some people think "a fakie fs 180" is just a front side 180 but with the nose going the other way,....because you are doing a fs 180, when you are actually spinning back side,. that is where people get really confused.

also there's a glitch with the game of skate where if u skate far enough away that it needs to load to return to the table jump thing an extra metal barrier will spawn in causing your opponents to not even attempt the jump.
Also, stoked as hell you shouted out ValleyBoy at the end! That first clip with the bonk was beautiful!! If you want to watch a definitive full length video of Skate 2 I would definitely recommend ABD by BKS which is a favorite of many. It's insane how smooth and real they made it look. Also, I wanted to note that with the filming and key frames people often make the camera glitch when filming in order to make it look a certain way. I'll link a video with this comment to explain how it's done, but people often make the camera go under the lowest allowed mm of 24 to somewhere in between 19-10 mm most of the time while also being able to make a long lens that goes way over the allowed 75 mm to 200-300 mm and beyond. I feel like the only person that barely had any trouble with this challenge. Basically what I did was sort of an exploit, I don't know if anyone else knows this. What I did was basically hit the lightly tapped the handplant button as I was going up the quarter pipe, and that sort of helps with your alignment, soon as I got up the hoop I was able to handplant with no issue. I'm probably not the only one that did this but just a tip if anyone replays this game and that challenge.

the Koston and Carrol one is just a plain unfair challenge and almost everyone (including myself) just opted to cheating that one so that the CPU always bails.
The liptrick basketball hoop one is broken too. The spot you have to hit is extremely small and precise and because the thing glitches out a bit from distances, it's not worth doing it legit. THAT one i DID do legit. It sucked.
I honestly do find this game to be the best on the SKATE series with Skate 1 at 2nd place. Skate 3 was a broken mess for me and Skate It just plain sucked. But best skating game of all time? ...i prefer the fun and ridiculousness of the Tony Hawk games more than SKATE, as the SKATE series was just less enjoyable for me and definitely seemed like only people who want the "most realistic skating experience ever" and just want to skate around for hours, doing tricks and such without any goals or anything, would enjoy this more, since after completing this game 100%, i haven't touched it in years because there was really nothing else for me to do, the whole filming thing got very boring and online was impossible for me at the time and sort of still is nowadays (hurray for australian internet and dead servers). I like it, but i stick by the notion that if i want the "true skateboarding experience", i'd grab my board and skate for real, because if this went full on with the simulation, the dam jump and Danny Way challenges would be impossible as your skater should be basically dead after even attempting to land it and some of those challenges.
I think it would be cool if you did a video / series similar to shred school, but from the angle of helping 25+ year olds re-learn when there getting back into it. Maybe go over tricks, or environments, what will be different than you remember, or specific approaches for those of us less limber.
2 was the best skate game hands down by the way. Made 3 feel stiff and bulky and the bail system was tight. You can also do a quick 180 then set up switch and the character actually looked like he was skating switch, counted as nollie I think but who cares. that game would be the soul reason for buying a xbox360 today

TIPS: (for anyone who comes back or new to this video) -
1) - (All 3 Games) If you do the down button gesture. it will make the NPC people run away scared. it's a good way to get them to move out of the way of things you wanna skate. i think you can do this in all 3 skate games but in know it works in Skate 2 & 3 for sure. Not 100% if it works in 1 tho. im pretty sure it should tho.
2) (In Skate 2 & 3) There's an option when you are grabbed onto an object to "Lock To Session Marker" which means everytime you go back to your maker it will move the object back to exactly where you had it so if it does move you don't need to worry about getting that perfect spot again. it will go back on its own.
Also I figured out that the best way to beat that super hard S.K.A.T.E. challenge is to do all 540’s. The best way to do it is by moving *both* the sticks in the same direction that you’re turning. It takes some experimenting!
I found an easy way to beat the Carroll and Koston challenge was to do triple flip tricks. They bail every time

There is also an object you can move to help with the Koston Challenge. If you bring a separate rail up to the Rail they use to play the game of S.K.A.T.E, their Brains get wiped of any Skateboard knowledge and they just walk on the Ramp

Pro Tip: You can actually get Skate 2 to run at 60(?)FPS on PS3 simply by disabling the VSync in the options.
Yeah, the screen will tear like crazy from that point forward. But if you're like me and usually don't notice it or it doesn't bother you, it pretty much gets rid of framerate issues and improves the game significantly.
More games from that era should have had that option.

On the Backboard one I had no issues, I think you have to place the quarter pipe farther away from the backboard and your guy will kinda basically "Pull" toward it.

I have a couple videos on my channel called FAKE SKATEBOARDING that are parts I made in Skate2, totally forgot about them till recently and it reminded me how realistic it was compared to part 3. I remember some of the tricks just being so challenging but looking so good when you land them. I'm disappointed I can't play my DLC areas without an online account though.

Here’s a glitch to beat Eric and mike In skate. Once the game starts and you have your turn go to the right of the rail and table and go straight until you get to a path with a yellow rail on the side and go down the path with the rail until your time runs out. When it runs out and you get a black loading screen with the text boxes you have done it right. One thing that will happen is it will load a second rail and mike and Eric will both bail every single try, or there won’t be a extra rail but a orange barrier on the side and you have to get lucky that Eric and mike will bail so you can move the barrier (also the orange barrier will be there with the extra rail) I hope this helped anyone who was having trouble with it.
Those 2 challenges will forever be burned into my memory. Didn't beat the SKATE one until my 3rd playthrough
If you ever go back and play that “can you spell girl” challenge just keep doing triple kicks and heels. Add 180s and 360s. They can’t do them at all. It took me a solid hour to beat it without that.
Thanks to this I was able to breeze right through that backboard invert challenge!

I noticed that if you do a flip trick with a 180 it will either add a 180 or cancel a 180 of the flip trick. Try some bigflips or bigspins in both directions fsbv bsbv and slow mo it.

I love skating, but I'm 300 lb. First kick flip I landed, broke my buddy's POS $40 board. Of course I paid him $45, but haven't gotten on a board since. Never even learned a manual. Just Ollie and kick flip. I wanted to learn to tre flip

If you want to beat Koston and Carroll at skate, do triple flips and 540s. The AI has no idea what to do with it, and will just do a random trick and get a letter.
Be careful when you win the game of skate though, the retry and continue bottons are switched (at least on PS3) from what they usually are. Why they would do this I have no idea. But it really sucks having to retry this challenge after being at it for 15 minutes.
