Three hours later, I think we need to use a chain to assist in placing the track back together, Wily off to the side, doing the forehead slap. I’m 58 years old, and I still listen when someone’s telling me an easy way of doing it. This was an awesome video.
Young man hasn't discovered all those old guys bellowing ideas and opinions are only trying to help him. They're job at this point of life is to pass on knowledge. Hope the boy learns that. It took me quite a while, and I was sorely irritated with my uncles that tried to teach me an easier way. Took years , years for me to learn. Now my back, shoulders and hips are shot. All I have left is trying to teach. You ought to see these kids trying to change bearings on a 12 row hay rake....
everyone kept saying it was scrap now ..i just kept saying nah pull the glow plugs or injectors and put the other track on and bob's your uncle..people don't realize these diesel engines can take a beating and keep going..good job Wiley
The Cummins B Series are unbeatable. Simple design with common parts between the 4 and 6 cylinder models. Pass on alil info, Cummins doesn't use glow plugs. They use a grid heater which works alot like a toaster. It's mounted between the air intake flange and the head. It's about 2" thick. It uses a solenoid and a sensor activated by the key switch. It's bullet proof.
It is scrap now . Didnt pull engine and disassemble and clean all sand and grit out of it . Take you a bucket of muddy water let it set 2 days dump water out look where all the sludge is at . It all was left inside of engine. They destroyed it . Be like changing old and dump a cup of sand in it .
On the restart, everyone watching was yelling "you've got a fuel leak" but you didn't hear us. 😀 But what a beautiful sound that was when you got it restarted...she purred like kitten. Nice job!
hey jacob, thank you for being there. there is no way that wiley should be on that project by himself. we might not admit this, but it is important that you are there... i know we, are the same age and i won't admit, but need a younger man too. enjoy these best of times.
Come on guys you sound silly. The man 20 feet away on a machine running full throttle he couldn't hear him talking. It's obvious they stopped talked about it and regrouped these guys are like family they all working together. Great job to you and the crew wiley!
Diesel motors never fail to impress me with their robustness, it’s just amazing the hiding they can take and yet come back to life. Well done guys, this was a great recovery and a credit to your talents
Glad I bumbled into your TH-cam web site Wiley, looks like your a little more at ease on your own web site, without the tension of Hamiltonville. Keep up w/the vids I will watch. Best thing for a machine thats been under water is to get it runnin again asap, & wiley & team did it. good watch.
When that oil shot out I jumped back and had to wipe my glasses haha😂 listening to your breathing slow down and take a minute,a lot of us are praying for you, you're doing great
Thanks for another great video Wiley. It was super interesting and very enjoyable to watch. Wow. And wow. Wiley you and Jacob and all those other people got it to run and in the end got the track on and put up on the low boy trailer. Amazing that engine fired up and ran after the oil change and all the other items that you fixed or cleaned before starting it up. The engine runs real good by the way it sounds. Good show everyone!!!!!!!!! Amazing to think it was under water and now it is running. Super job Wiley. With the proper cleaning and check over it can be a working machine yet. Thanks so much Wiley. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Holy cow! Wiley that motor blow oil and water every where, thats a lot of oil and water stuck in the top of that motor, and that air filter, looks like it pulled in all that mud from running that air filter it soked wow! It was really stuck deep in that mud Awesome video Wiley 👍 i love the content 👍
Wiley you my friend, are the MAN. You continue to impress your audience on here, and I have learned a lot watching you do your thing. Good for you, brother. Congrats on a job that nobody thought would go. Whether they admit it or not, you could tell from the facial expressions on them!!! Cheers
next time an old timer tells you to use a chain.....use the damm chain. the guy spent more time goofing off with the claw than actually getting that idler put in there.
What a trooper how many people roll in the mud to save an old excavator? This is the spirit of renewal and saving that makes me proud KUDOS all the way
Wily keep doing the Great things you do throughout your neighboring communities. I also contribute to the elderly and my fellow neighbors in my community when I'm not busy working. Much love from South Carolina brother ‼️👊💥💯
Wily you are the man great job we need more guys like you around most younger guys would not take the time say it will cost to much to much time just scrap it like I says you bring me back to yesterday take it easy thanks ken
For a minute it looked like you were drilling for oil and hit a gusher! 🛢🛢🛢 I bet that was quite a clean up job! Excellent job getting this excavator back up and running again! Thanks for sharing, Wily!

ROTFLMAO when that first blast of oil hit the camera!! I was still laughing when you said you were getting soaked! And LOOK at that poor engine! Whatamess!! What you do for us Wily so we can get good content!!
@@DontbeWilyAnd probably a world record amount of water out of the crankcase. Even more than that JD Skidder a while back that shot out the dipstick tube I think.
that was great when i seen part one i was wondering if it would come around pretty good great video saved another one just awesome thanks for taking me along
Looking at the condition of the undercarriage, I would expect the rest of the machine to be in poor condition also. Talk about running it til the wheels fall off! This owner took that expression to heart. Hope you got it bought cheap. Good job of getting it running and mobile again. Loading a dead excavator is more of a challenge than most other dead equipment, and missing a track is surely an extra wrinkle. At least the hydraulic tank stayed above the mud, and normally they are also pressurized which also helps. By the way, a handheld remote starter switch can save you a bunch of money in shampoo!
If ever there were a reason to own a remote starter button, this video proves my point. Any mechanic who is willing to have motor oil spit all over himself, feel free to ignore my message. I have a remote starter button assembly that I have owned since back in the 60's. I have used that button literally hundereds if not thousands of times to spin motors for one reason or another. I would never get remotely serious about working on engines without having my remote start button at hand. About $25 will buy you one in most auto parts stores.
Fell through the swamp last winter in a deere 120c. Sat submerged just like this for several months on below zero weather. Pulled it out, let it sit until spring and the first 70 degree day it fired right up!
When you were turning it over after taking the lines off, and the oil was going all over you and all over the machine - you had me in fits of laughter with you, but feeling sorry for you big time. What a process, but awesome work, well done
I pulled injectors on my 1100 massy ferguson with the six cylinder perkins diesel engine, one of them came out in two pieces, the top came out then I had to make a puller with all thread, black gas pipe, washers and a nut to get that bottom sleeve of the enjector, it was really stuck, I guess they never been changed, the tractor is a 1972 and I had the injector pump rebuilt so I thought I would change injectors, clean fuel tanks, just do things right, i thought i would share my store with you, my masseys running great.
I went through a flood and everything was like that motor. Amazing everything that did come back, atv lawnmower motorcycle even all my cordless tools (Milwaukee) came back. Just spray a tablesaw out with 1 1/2" hose and that worked. My heart breaks when i see this stuff. Glad it worked out
So much easier with chains on install. Always sprocket then idler pull ahead not sideways. Just enough room to slide track under frame. Lots of tricks & you can do this in less than 10 mins. Grease ? I have 45 years in mtns.
I know it was painful to watch. My 2nd time. I knew sprocket first but it was his machine. He is young and a hard worker he will learn but needs to listen to folks like yourself thats been there and done that. Would make his life a little easier

Omg!Never thought that owner would ever stop talking. One story after another
Wondered who that was talking nonstop about nothing during that one part of the video. That explains a lot.
Who was the fat old guy in the green shirt who just HAD to be standing in every crush point or dangerous situation on the site?
Lol 😂.
will the water be in the hydraulic as well?
It was not. Hydraulic tank was on the high side
hope you got another bucket ready?
