However not many people know this though.. og doom 3 pc version had levels that weren’t on og doom 3 Xbox port.. we only got to play those extra levels on bfg edition on 360

I eventually got the og version on Steam a few years ago and realized how much we missed out. Was like a third of a game cut, or at least it felt like it.
Doom 3 is my favorite Doom, just because it feels like an actual campaign with stakes in it and you really do feel the Marines pain realistically and dynamically. Also unless you're playing on nightmare there isn't much trial and error compared to the rest of the doom lineup. And I've completed Doom eternal and still think Doom 3 is the best atmospheric doom. There's also something more intense and relaxing when you're not surrounded by combat all the time. I had to take many breaks when completing doom, Doom 2, and doom eternal. Also Doom 3 absolutely hits it out of the park with the slow sense of upgrades and getting stronger.

I am a doom 3 enthusiast and a speedrunner of the game, so i like to watch people's first experiences or challenge runs of the game. it's actually nice to see someone playing nightmare other than myself. i have a bunch of runs on my channel if you wanna trigger your PTSD 😀 BTW, at 41:52, this physics bug occurs when you play the game on more than 60 fps. this is because the OG doom 3 ran on 60fps exclusively, and they never really adjusted it properly for higher fps, so there are some weird physics anomalies that are mostly not much of a problem for casual players. stuff like funky railing physics, seemingly random boosts when landing from jumps and those tiles not popping out of the walls/ceilings/floors properly.

I had literally just finished Doom 3 on veteran in order to unlock Nightmare mode. Man watching you endure this made me feel for you. A serious achievement. Well done.
I love how back when the OG game came out needing to swap to the flashlight was a negative to the point that people made mods to put flashlights on weapons. Now people are all of a sudden saying the bad feature was a good thing, yeah they have easy space travel and have complexes on other planets but sure, a flashlight mounted on your armor is too advanced. There are flashlight on weapons in real life for years it make less than zero sense for flashlight NOT to be either be on the weapon or mounted somewhere on the armor they'd wear like they do in this game. Hell, if you want to go further back, miners had helmets with flashlights.

Now, F.E.A.R on the other hand, man, those games are works of art and Extreme difficulty really makes you have to take things on way more strategically. I managed to beat Doom 3 Nightmare mode by only using the Chainsaw, and by mean Doom 3, I mean the OG 2004 DOOM 3, which had darker areas and had more enemies bc the newest versions decreased a lot of enemy counts and removed some areas. Of course I got killed like a fuckton of times but I managed to beat it 😭

I remember this was an extremely hard game to get through on the ol' Duke. A few years ago i even bought a Duke like for the xbox one to play this again with it just to remember that suffering.
I don't know about the bfg edition, but in the original the biggest difficulty spike of nightmare was the unreliable spread of the shotgun, and you had to use it A LOT, ammo for it was everywhere, but not other weapons. I might be remembering wrong because i played it in nightmare back in 2005 with my father and i was 9 years old back then.
Subbed cause of this video. I completed D3, RoE and Lost Mission on Nightmare myself after seeing this, actually. RoE was much harder than the other two. You need to know exactly when to time the use of the Artifact. Many times there would be spots where a crazy amount of Revenants spawn, and I'd die due to that. The main campaign... I died a lot due to my own stupidity and/or the shotgun not working the way it should. 🤣
The BFG edition showers you with ammo while also removing enemies, so no idea why you were low on ammo, nightmare on the OG version can be a bit more annoying. The shotgun does have consistent damage, the spread is what's random, the Doom 3 shotgun when properly used can deal more damage that the rockets lol. And yes, armor in this game does nothing, you can end up with 120 armor and -50 hp if you take enough damage, which is hilarious.
As an avid achievement hunter my self.. I can say I have all three of these achievements for doom 3 on Xbox one and doom 3 bfg edition for the 360 edition.. I just love doom 3
I completed all three mission packs on nightmare, but I did use quick saves. I actually enjoyed it, one of the few games I completed the highest difficulty without cheats or hating the process.
One thing that was definitely annoying is having to hold down sprint in hell. I've played through again andter I got a controller with back paddles that I have rs and LS binded to them and I made the hell level soo much more enjoyable. Lol
I felt like Nightmare was easier than Veteran because of the soul cube. Yeah I didn’t have any health for most of the game, but if I got in a real bad spot I just activated the soul cube and I could take out all the enemies before the timer ran out. Veteran didn’t give me a soul cube, it just gave me tougher enemies, less ammo, and less health. I also want to give props to this old school style of top tier difficulty. You had a chance to save your progress if you died.. You didn’t have one shot at completion or die and start from the beginning. Thanks DOOM 3.

The shotgun isnt bad, just need point blank range. Most enemies you can smoke by just charging in, ducking & firing for the shoulders & up. Can do like 380 damage per shell that way. Also, revenant projectiles can be shot as soon as they fire for easy cheese.
I thought to myself when you listed off the modifiers "Oh that's not too bad, just need to play with the games mechanics and build a strategy with every enemy and weapon." Until you said your health decays 😂
I beat all Doom 3's campaigns on veteran, never fully committed to Nightmare, but if I do, I think my best bet would be to quicksave after every enemy you kill until you beat the game.
From what I remember the originals armor literally did nothing without mods, guessing they forgot to fix it in the BFG edition too? Which they are different, in BFG the levels are plastered with way more ammo from what I've heard, and from my experience, that would make this version significantly easier especially with the flashlight not being a separate item you have to pull out making your self vulnerable to everything lol i would just role play that doom guy was slightly slow in this timeline.
I noticed you never used the charge function on the BFG. It can one shot Hell Knights and Archvilles at max charge. Just gotta be sure not to blow yourself up.
I feel like it’s definitely very doable and the sense. I’ve been playing D3 for a while now and then I’ve been playing with the ultimate HD mod which I think is very fun. Should try it out. I definitely think I could beat it.
@@BlargTheEnderman DLC literally means "downloadable", and they were not. RoE was released on a physical CD, and Lost Mission was bundled with the BFG Edition all along. So yeah - definitely not a "DLC". Case closed.
Question, how is you character moving so fast?. Thats not the default run speed. 10:15 thru 10:45 or is the footage sped up? Cause at other part you are moving at the default run/walk speed
Curious, does the BFG edition (or whatever the latest edition you can have on steam) still have the option of manual reload? Manual reload allows the option to fire double barrel shotgun and quick switch to other guns and then reload when the situation is safer. I use manual reload back in the original version due to the problems of forced double barrel reload.
@@Arrrash Back in the original expansion, I can toggle the manual reload in the option menu. Not sure if BFG edition has such option in the option menu.
It's good for quickly taking out enemies as they're spawning or if you can corner bait them but that's about it. Using it over most other weapons is just risking unnecessary damage.
You know, I dont know which is more painful. Beating nightmare with no quicksave or Beating nightmare on a ps3 where the load screens last 30 seconds every time you die. 😮
6:06 - 6:12 and I close the video after this, the shotgun didn't become water gun, that a massive skill issue on you. You can't one-shot enemies from like 3 to 5 meters. You need to usr that gun at at point blank range. Plus you shot the wall.

What i loved about NM D3 is Z-sec/commandos being more dangerous than actual demons. Fighting them felt like a tactical shooter.

Funny. When i played this years ago. I was told ducking projectiles was a thing in the game before playing. It really is.
Doom 3's shotgun only really works if you shove it up the enemy's nose before pulling the trigger.

In the bfg edition it does absorb some damage, but very little, and the more it's damaged the less it absorbs

I forgot the BFG Edition had checkpoints. All the originals had was auto-save at the start of each level.

"The Lost Mission" is not a DLC, by the way. It comes bundled with the game and is not downloaded separately (which is what "DLC" means).
Fair enough. Mis labeling on my part just meant the additional campaigns I think later in the script I termed it correctly
Actually they were dlcs, the original doom 3 didn't come with them just cause they are bundled in later doesn't mean they aren't dlcs
@@BlargTheEnderman DLC literally means "downloadable", and they were not. RoE was released on a physical CD, and Lost Mission was bundled with the BFG Edition all along.
So yeah - definitely not a "DLC". Case closed.

Question, how is you character moving so fast?. Thats not the default run speed. 10:15 thru 10:45 or is the footage sped up? Cause at other part you are moving at the default run/walk speed

Curious, does the BFG edition (or whatever the latest edition you can have on steam) still have the option of manual reload? Manual reload allows the option to fire double barrel shotgun and quick switch to other guns and then reload when the situation is safer. I use manual reload back in the original version due to the problems of forced double barrel reload.
id have to hop back in and see. as far as I recall it would just auto reload when shooting and then get you stuck in the animation
@@Arrrash Back in the original expansion, I can toggle the manual reload in the option menu. Not sure if BFG edition has such option in the option menu.

But I definitely agree with the auto saves dude like holy crap. I try not to save at all so I have some soda satisfaction or the reason to stay alive.

It's good for quickly taking out enemies as they're spawning or if you can corner bait them but that's about it. Using it over most other weapons is just risking unnecessary damage.
I think I overused it tbh
You know, I dont know which is more painful. Beating nightmare with no quicksave or Beating nightmare on a ps3 where the load screens last 30 seconds every time you die. 😮

The shotgun is a melee weapon in doom 3. It only works if ur literally touching them 😂
6:06 - 6:12 and I close the video after this, the shotgun didn't become water gun, that a massive skill issue on you. You can't one-shot enemies from like 3 to 5 meters. You need to usr that gun at at point blank range. Plus you shot the wall.
Yeah it insta kills most enemies with one shot if you barrel stuff. Major skill issue being to afraid to die causing deaths
