John Asked Dutch why he was there. Dutch responded, "Same as you I suppose." Dutch came to kill Micah. Dutch is very interesting as a villian. If you notice through out the series, he almost never says he is wrong. When he's being strung along by micah, you can see it in Dutch's face that he knows he isn't right but he can't admit that he is wrong. Like When he was watching arthur die on the mountain. Dutch's face was extremely sad. He said "I" several times, but he couldn't say "I'm sorry" because it would have meant that he was wrong. thats why he left Micah then instead of joining him. I guess you could say Dutch leaving the cash was his way of apologizing to John and Arthur. Since there was no other reason for him to do so and he was entirely silent because he couldn't say what he needed to say, because his personality doesn't allow him to admit when he's wrong.

Putting your arm around Abigail is such a good parallel to Arthur when he was with Mary at the theatre. Arthur pulled his arm back and was denied love. Later he was willing to sacrifice his life so John could experience the love and the life he never could.

john lives across the field from blackwater haha , where he was a wanted man still with a debt to the bank until he payed it off with a ton of money he would have no way of prooving he came into legitimately. If he continued any kind of bounty hunting which he might have because you have to wonder why ross brings him into blackwater from a ferry if john was always at home. John must have been out near this game's area some more times in the future when he was picked up. He would have been found eventually just because he still goes by John Marsten. Killing Micah probably just brought attention to him a lot sooner.
Well, there's no guarantee that Ross wouldn't have found him, but there definitely would have been a big chance that he wouldn't had John decided not to go after Micah.

Jack Swavy Because when he took out the loan for the ranch he put it in his name which made it easy asf for the Pinkertons to track him down.

*Dutch:* "Same as you, I suppose."
It's implied that Dutch only reunited with Micah in order to gain his trust, then kill him when he least expected it. It also explains why he didn't take any of the Blackwater money, he didn't want it/had no need for it. Arthur's dying pleas weren't in vain.
It's also heartbreaking how Arthur gave his life for John, Abigail, and Jack to escape the law, only for John to throw it all away by killing Micah (which would then lead to the events of RDR1). Abigail's worst fear came true.
Remember, "revenge is a fool's game."
I think it would have quickened John's death by not killing Micah since he says "I'll make sure I pay her a call...and the boy." Micah was in on Ross' pursuit on John as well as the rest of the gang and would have done Micah like he did John at the end of the first game.
John and his fam shouldve went to South America with Sadie, away from Ross. It is what it is though

His shooting Micah was his admission that Arthur and John were right. Remember, he doesn't have much to say anymore. He said so himself.
That action, shooting Micah, was his words.

I view it more as a "since I did this one good deed I no longer owe anything back to John or Arthur. my debt has been repayed and I can do what I want again" - he did it more to clear his own concsience than to help John, that's how I look at it

Dutch shot Micah because he realized he could no longer honestly blame anyone but himself and Micah, and was never strong enough to blame himself.

When you walked out of the barn at 25:40 it triggered some seriously bad memories... this game is a masterpiece and the linking between the two games as it has the advantage of being a prequel was great. RDR1 will always remain my favourite game of ALL time but this game was a true masterpiece too.

RDR3 with the end being the massacre at Blackwater. Other parts of the game we get to see are, The death of Hoseas wife, Dutches wife, the killing of Colm’s brother which lead to the beef between the Odriscolls and the van der Linde gang. Davey and Mac Callander, Jenny, how other gang members joined like Charles, Micah and the women in the gang, reverend swanson, trellawny. Arthur and Mary’s love story. The game starts with Arthur going to see his son and then finding him and his sons mam dead. John running off for a year and the conflict between John and Arthur but also see what John did in them years that made him comeback. The birth of Jack. The game either switches between Arthur and John depending on missions or does what GTA did and have 2 playable characters. The game could also be over a period of a few years. Say 1894 to 1899. Parts of the game are set in an individual year where events happen where we’ve been teased about them.
Maybe you could play as Davey and it ends as he dies
I think if we ever come back to Red Dead it probably won't be Redemption 3, I think it will have to be new characters and probably set more in the prime of the West.
I gotta say, This has been one of the best playthroughs of this game I've seen. It's sad to see it end but at least we have your resident evil playthrough 😝 any content from you is good so just keep doing what you're doing! Much love for the channel.

Also the reason Dutch killed Micah is because at the beginning John asks "What are you doing here Dutch" and Dutch replies "same as you I suppose so Dutch was there to kill micah because he knew that micah was a bad person and knew he was the rat.
The writers at Rockstar deserves so much praise. All the little things that's kind of hidden. It also makes me wonder if Micah got Dutch up there to rat on him, seeing as the Pinkertons showed up shortly after. That would be cool if they both had their own agendas.

Alright alright alright, I wanna fill you in on my opinion on Dutch's role there but first, I've been watching this series for a good while and good fucking job I really enjoyed your reaction!
Now, when John confronts both of them Micah says "Dutch and I are teaming up once more!..."
Remember when Dutch left Arthur and Micah? Dutch at the time (who was already somewhat insane) was questioning himself whether Arthur was right all along and felt bad for not only turning his back on the good faith that Arthur had in him but also for the fall of the gang by being manipulated by Micah.
Back to the present confrontation, John asks what Dutch was doing and he says "Same as you... I suppose." This means that in his second alliance with Micah he must've had the plot of killing him at some point to redeem himself for turning his back on Arthur.
Dutch shoots Micah and immediately puts both his handguns away...as if to say "This is for Arthur, and I won't have a problem if you manage to shoot and kill me before John finishes you off because I deserve it." He lives and looks at John, knowing that there is a lot of money in that shed, with an expression that says to me "I don't care about the money as much as I wanted to carry on with Micah's death...so you can have it, for your family."
I haven't played the first game but I assume that this was the turning point to Dutch's sanity for his past with Arthur and of course his personal beliefs; the time of outlaws is coming to an end, which can be proven in Dutch's last words before his suicide "Our time has passed, John."

I love the fact that at the very end when the cutscenes end that John and Abigail stand exactly where they will eventually be buried at the end of RD1, the feels.
32:44 Think practically about this: Micah, personal feelings aside, was a threat to civility and was a plague to society in general. The lingering thought of if/when he would find John, Sadie, Charles, Uncle, etc. and take them out was always there. Not to mention he has done some VERY HENIOUS stuff in the 8 year gap between Beaver Hollow and this point. While there was a conflicting feeling about this hit being a revenge hit, it HAD to be done for the better of the surviving gang members and society in general.
Was it partially revenge? Absolutely. But it was also a measure of much needed justice. The Pinkertons/Bureau couldn't/wouldn't take him out, so the people he betrayed ended up doing it. Besides, if the trio didn't go after him, Dutch was gonna get him anyway (as Dutch arguably had the worst consequences of Micah's betrayal). It's poetic justice at it's best...

Shootout on mountain, you not being like dutch and greedy and not going back for the money risking your friends life. You die a hero looking at the sunrise after being betrayed for the 10th time by Dutch & your gang. Micah disappears after a epic fist fight. Definitely the best ending for the game. So i played it out perfectly.

Thank you for playing this game and for your commentary, i was real happy watching someone be that passionate and caring for the story and the characters as i became.
That was fantastic. Everything including the beautifully written story, the beautiful soundtrack, the characters, everything. I've never cried that much for the death of character before , arthur was such a 'real' protagonist, you could relate to what he's feeling, you can emphasise with him, and you genuinely care about him and the other characters around him. He lived a bad life, but he was always honest and true to himself, he understood the reality he's in and knew what the world he's in was like, which differentiates him from the rest of the gang, the lost souls that sided with dutch, who is the most delusioned of all, at the end.
Arthur died fighting for what he finally truly believed in, true love and family, the things that deep down mattered to him the most, and in that, despite living a life of violence and regret, he achieved redemption upon his dying breath.
Just like John in the end. But for now, the cycle of blood still goes on, as john himself begins his own journey of redemption but only to seal his fate when he lets vengeance get the better of him. The very thing arthur warned him about, thevery thing he witnessed destroy lives and individuals. But as someone wise said, in the name of redemption, there is only red.
You should do an extra episode because you can meet tilly, Mary Beth, Pearson and Rains fall when you’re exploring
and visit all the graves of the ones that died

I love playing as John in free roam after the credits, visiting all the graves, meeting up the gang members etc. Best game ever.
Great journey and great experience, Marz! As far as why Dutch would shoot Micah, there's an interesting quote in the standoff where John asks Dutch why he's there and Dutch replies "Same as you, I suppose". I think that could possibly mean that Dutch was there to kill Micah as well. Also, Dutch valued loyalty above all else and I think some of what John said at the end resonated with him to a degree. It's what makes Dutch such a great complex character -- at all times he believes he doing the right thing for the good of the cause. It's a great ending because it makes you fill in the holes for Dutch's rationale at the end.
You could tell by the look on his face as he walked away that he knew he messed up all those years ago. He trusted a rat he knew for months over a "son" he knew for decades. He didn't do right by Arthur and you could tell he felt guilty about it
@@terminallumbago6465 maybe just a TINY bit but he still thinks john betrayed him. Dutch ain't remembering obviously that he left john to die and then went gunning after him and arthur up the hills. He may feel guilty about arthur and micah but he does not fully take responsbility for everything becuase he is still a crazy man and it shows in red dead 1 that he slips even futher into it.
Also they had to have Dutch do something in the end that left John feeling a little bit of positivity toward him as he was still somewhat defending him in RDR1, so Dutch walking away from the money was sort of Dutch's apology without actually apologizing.
Dutch had a lot of time to think it through. It took him a long time to admit to himself that arthur was right all along and that dutch left him to die alone. All those years he must have felt bad about it which led to him being there in the stand off. He wanted to settle the score once and for all eventhough it was too late 😭😭
Not sure what the soundtrack is called, but Rockstar hinted in a tweet a couple of days ago that the full release of Red Dead's music will be released shortly. Can't wait to sit mesmerized listening to all the amazing tracks. Thanks for a great playthrough!

I personally think that the lines "Say something, Dutch. Say something." caused Dutch to have a momentary change of heart.
The reason why i think this is because when Arthur was dying and Dutch had the opportunity to kill Micah, ultimately choosing between his two boys in a sense, he chose to leave it all and he never actually said anything. His line is "I... I..." almost as if he was about to confront Micah, but he wasn't ready.
John telling him to actually "say something" unintentionally pushed him to finally stand up to Micah and avenge his true son; the son who he left to die at the hands of a monster that he knew he couldn't confront.
I've never yelled the words, 'smoke a cigar,' so loudly before watching this.
My favourite part of the game was when the music started playing when riding back to camp after guarma. When you go to look for the gang.

I LOVED THIS GAME! It told such a meaningful story and really made you believe these characters were real people. Every time a person died, i felt my heart shatter into a million pieces, they were like family to me. :c

I REALLY wish Arthur had lived because he was a character I REALLY REALLY really loved so so much and when his ending came I was getting a lot Christian religious vibes from him and especially from Brother Dorkins and Sister in Saint Denis, plus if you ever look up how old Arthur was during that time or if you never do he was only 36 years old!! I mean that's a really young age to die especially today and I was really hoping him and Mary would be married again and at least have some kids before he died, I just feel like they could have made his survival possible without TB and still be able to help John and his family however he can, and that moment when John said, "You are my Brother" I felt the same when he said that to Arthur and Damn Micah }:( he really pissed me off when he started beating up on poor sick :( Arthur and by the way you mentioned that you wanted to see what the wolf looked like when you get less honor and trust me you do not want to see how PPOOR :( :( Arthur dies in the ending the way you chose gaining honor like that actually gives Arthur a much more merciful ending and is a whole lot better than having way too much dishonor, I just really didn't feel the same when I played as John and I really loved doing all those side missions as Arthur because it allowed me to leave something to remember him by like that donation to the veteran museum, that old retired veteran Hamish, Charlotte, and all those poor homeless guys with one arm lost (Valentine) and another with a lost leg (Rhodes). I love this game and it is still my most favorite today even though I felt a lot of heart break in the amazing but cruel ending of Arthur Morgan Peace be with him and may God tell him not to fear no more. :)

Yeah, I also want to know what Dutch was thinking in the end. It reminded me of how he acted when Arthur was dying. He originally stepped on his gun, but after a few words from Arthur, he chose to back off, and even leave Micha.
This time he teamed up with Micha, but after a few wordsw from John, shot him and walked away from their partnership, again. Maybe the word that triggered him was 'Arthur'? Both scenes had him in common. Maybe Dutch wanted to do something right, as an apology for messing up with Arthur.
Thankyou so much for playing this Marz! I know its been a good few months and you probably wont even notice this message, but this game was one of my best and worst experiences as a gamer. Best because it was absolutely superb and I got to be Arthur Morgan. Worst because I had to slowly watch him deteriorate then die and there was nothing I could do, Sounds dumb but I wont ever forget that guy. In the end credits when it showed Mary at his grave my eyes teared up again. So many good memories of this game. Wish I never finished it in a way. RIP Arthur, was a privilege to live your life for a short but wonderful time
