This was a funny video. I was in the midst of catching up on the Mrytle Beach series and this uploaded. Nice work! Looks like a nice area, overall honestly.
Enjoyed your funny video Chris! Appreciate the subtle hilljack commentary!👍 Traffic must be bonkers on a normal day on 501. It seems some of the main roads don't look too bike friendly. Overall a super video!👍
Yooo!! I’m a Carolina Forest High alumni! 1997-2001, first class! I grew up off hwy 544, (which was a tiny 2 lane road at the time) and we had to drive all the way out there for school, whereas my older brother went to Socastee High, which was a mere 3 miles from my parents house. When they built CFHS, they redrew the school lines and I had to go there. My aunt and uncle live in the swanky neighborhood Plantation Lakes, they were among the first homes out there. When I was in high school, there wasn’t hardly anything on 501, no restaurants, no fast food, the Tanger Outlets were brand new and had no satellite stores around it. There was no hwy 31 either, so we had to take Forestbrook road (which is a residential area) to get to 501. From the high school to CCU there was also nothing. You had the hospital road and the Burger King, and the Food Lion shopping center, but that was it. No Lowe’s. Carolina Forest Blvd was a tiny 2 lane road through the woods. Waaaaay back in the day, before any development of that area, my dad and grandpa would hunt in that forest. The area is also the location of Carolina Bays, unique geological sites that are only found in the Carolinas and a sparse few other places in the southeast. If you’re into nature at all, they’re very interesting to read about! I’m also an alumni of Horry/Georgetown Technical College, and Coastal Carolina University… the latter which is a notorious party school 😂 It’s so fun watching these videos, I moved to Arizona this past November, and it’s the first time I’ve ever lived anywhere else other than the Myrtle Beach area. Thanks Chris!!
It would be so interesting to see videos like mine from 10-20 years ago of areas that are now developed. Glad you enjoyed the vid! Surprised the algorithm is actually doing somewhat of a decent job of showing this video to people from the area lol.
Now that you said it was originally Coastal Carolina Junior College, I know that's where my wife went. She trained to be a medical laboratory technician there.
Looks like a great place to live with all the golfing. My favorite part of golfing is trying to get the ball through the little windmill without one of the windmill blades hitting the ball back to the rubber T-off mat.......
@@ChrisHarden If you ever make it to the South Redondo Beach area, there are Palos Verdes Golf Club, Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles, Los Verdes Golf Course and Rolling Hills Country Club all within 15 minutes of each other.
Wanna live in Carolina Forest? Better read those CC&Rs very, very closely... and getting one from the seller can be like pulling teeth, for obvious reasons. The whole Carolina Forest area is a gargantuan HOA. Homes in this area typically sell 10-20% lower... coastal Carolina HOAs have a horrific reputation. If you use Zillow or Realtor to price homes in this area, you'll notice a marked disparity in price, and availability, between HOA and non-HOA properties throughout the Myrtle Beach area. ... just a heads-up. Nice video!
I forgot! For the history of the area, back during WWII, the Carolina Forest area was used as a bombing test range by the military. To this day, as they expand and develop, they still find live bombs and ammunition that have to be dealt with.
I saw that somewhere but after looking into it more it looked like the base was at where the Myrtle beach airport is now… not saying you’re wrong you probably know way more than I do about all that, I just couldn’t find much information through credible sources on it otherwise I probably would’ve mentioned it.
@@ChrisHarden the Air Force base was where Market Common is now. That entire area between business 17 and bypass 17 was the base. They used the Carolina Forest area to test bombs because it was completely uninhabited back then. If you search the local news, you can find articles about construction crews finding live explosives.
@@ChrisHarden my dad and grandpa were in the Air Force, hence how my family ended up in the area! The base closed down when I was about 10 years old. My granny used to take me to the swimming pool on base because it was the “nice pool” with a high diving board 😆 We would get pizza at the nearby restaurant and she would shop at the commissary. Good memories 😊

Thanks! I liked the scenery of the area, especially some of the beaches to the south that I have yet to upload.
I enjoyed this video! Wonderful scenery!😊❤
Thank you, and I agree! Hopefully the remaining forest is able to stay.

Yeah there's probably better roads in the area to enjoy a ride on other than 501. Appreciate the kind words as always!
Your videos are so informative, Chris Can't get enough of them.
Thanks for the kind words!
Awesome video and thanks again.

another good video! 🙂
Thanks!
Literally almost nothing in this video is about Carolina Forest (the actual community). Coastal Carolina is 5 miles away from Carolina Forest.
Thanks for saying "outlet store" every single time 😂

Used to golf when I was younger. Not mini. Would love to make the time to go more often.

How did u give it a 13/20 in restaurants and amenities? You made it sound like CF was amazing in this category but a 13 didn't match your enthusiasm?
Local realtors have a saying when it comes to Yankees: "Stick 'em in Carolina Forest!"
Yankees that move to this area are generally nice people who just want to get away from the bs in newyork.
I think my wife went to Coastal Carolina University.
What, you don't know?😮
Let's go Brandon.
Why spend so much time on Coastal? I thought this would be about Carolina Forest?
I spent time on both.
This video has almost zero content on Carolina Forest. This is a video of Coastal Carolina University, which is in Conway. Thumbs down
