Dune Part Two Breakdown, changes from the book, final scene explained, and where things will go next in Dune Part 3 aka Dune Messiah! Erik Voss breaks down Denis Villenueve’s 2024 film Dune Part Two to explain every detail you missed, and the deeper themes coming directly from Frank Herbert’s text!
You are not prepared for what is to come. #DunePartTwo
The saga continues as award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve embarks on “Dune: Part Two,” the next chapter of Frank Herbert’s celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast. The film, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, is the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s six-time Academy Award-winning “Dune.”
The big-screen epic continues the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s acclaimed bestseller Dune with returning and new stars, including Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet (“Wonka,” “Call Me by Your Name”), Zendaya (“Spider-Man: No Way Home,” “Malcolm & Marie,” “Euphoria”), Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning”), Oscar nominee Josh Brolin (“Avengers: End Game,” “Milk”), Oscar nominee Austin Butler (“Elvis,” “Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood”), Oscar nominee Florence Pugh (“Black Widow,” “Little Women”), Dave Bautista (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “Thor: Love and Thunder”), Oscar winner Christopher Walken (“The Deer Hunter,” “Hairspray”), Léa Seydoux (the “James Bond” franchise and “Crimes of the Future”), Souheila Yacoub (“The Braves,” “Climax”), with Stellan Skarsgård (the “Mamma Mia!” films, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”), with Oscar nominee Charlotte Rampling (“45 Years,” “Assassin’s Creed”), and Oscar winner Javier Bardem (“No Country for Old Men,” “Being the Ricardos”).
“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a path of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
Villeneuve directed from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jon Spaihts based on Herbert’s novel. The film is produced by Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Villeneuve, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick. The executive producers are Joshua Grode, Herbert W. Gains, Jon Spaihts, Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, Kim Herbert, with Kevin J. Anderson serving as creative consultant.
Villeneuve is again collaborating with his “Dune” creatives: Oscar-winning director of photography Greig Fraser; Oscar-winning production designer Patrice Vermette; Oscar-winning editor Joe Walker; Oscar-winning visual effects supervisor Paul Lambert; Oscar-nominated costume designer Jacqueline West. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer is again on hand to create the score.
Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures Present A Legendary Pictures Production, A Film By Denis Villeneuve, “Dune: Part Two.” The film is slated for a March 1, 2024 release in theaters and IMAX nationwide and internationally beginning on 28 February 2024, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Erik here! You’re welcome to disagree with my analysis that Paul is *using* Chani and that his affection for her isn’t sincere. I derive my take from Paul’s early exchange with Jessica, when they have first arrived to Sietch Tabr and they’re eating separate from the others. Paul whispers about the need to disrupt spice production to get the emperor’s attention. This, along with his telepathic exchange with Alia in the womb (his opening words in the movie), led me to believe that Villeneuve wants us to think that Paul views the Fremen as a means to an end, and that he feels this way from the beginning of Part Two. Yes, it’s clear that he begins to feel affection for Chani. But that affection peaks when she reveals her name as Desert Spring and ties herself to Paul’s “prophetic” purpose.
I also believe this is part of the reason Timothee Chalamet was cast, and that the movie doesn’t include any significant internal time jumps showing Paul’s aging and Alia’s birth. Chalamet’s greatest asset as an actor are his skill at playing believably and empathetically lovetorn youths (Call Me By Your Name, Little Women) while bringing the charisma of a theater kid cast in his first starring role who learns how to project his big-boy voice to the back row. Villeneuve wanted to show us a kid who understands the political advantage of an alliance with a group, calculating his immersion into that group, start to genuinely feel chemistry with a woman in that group, but most importantly, that chemistry is the product of a political agenda that was stated by the character at the outset of the film in two scenes.
I understand Chani had a different role in Herbert’s text. But I believe Villeneuve uses her character to better deliver the themes that Herbert felt some readers missed: that Paul’s relationship with the Fremen - all of the Fremen - amounts to a betrayal… even if he believes he’s doing the right thing. We end the film with Chani’s anger to deliver that point.
Again, feel free to disagree with this analysis, but it’s grounded in evidence of Villeneuve’s choices.
the way I see it why then would he sabotage himself by telling Stilgar that Jessica trained to endure the water of life and that it was a staged prophesy - or did he see the future and know that this would make Stilgar believe more
Your take on Paul's motives and psychology really flattens him into a one dimensional evil character which is not what the author or director had in mind.
@Jessica-xc6vn I agree. His take is definitely off here. The relationship is definitely much more nuanced.
I’d say his engagement to Irulan is the means to an end. He ONLY loves Chani. That never changes in the books and I don’t see it changing in future sequels. You were off on this one.
I do not think you read the books more than once. At that it was probably a trace read to say you have.
I disagree that Paul was using Chani. To keep going on the road he is on he marries Irulan. That doesn't mean he doesn't love Chani.
Paul ONLY loves Chani.
Irulan is a means to an end.
Thank you. I came here looking for this.
@@Ontir This was my understanding as well
Agreed. In both Dune and Messiah Paul only ever makes love with (has children with) Chani. Marrying Princess Irulan is to gain power and become the next Emperor.
@@jessicareichard2500isn’t there a quote in the book where it’s like “we may be concubines but history will remember us as wives?”

My thoughts exactly. 😆

It is so refreshing to see a director as talented as Denis Villeneuve be provided with the budget to bring us the Dune Franchise!

He ruined it. The ending was terrible and he changed stilgar and chani to be completely different than their book counterparts.
Paul really does love Chani. It's Irulan he is using.
Usul isn't a surname, it's his 'secret' name. Maud'dib is his public name.
I was hoping Jessica would have the final line, telling Chani that "history will call us wives."

idk why you acted like Paul was only manipulating the whole time, there was clearly conflict there and a transition over time with the final turning point where he drank the water of life and got the visions of a single path
Agreed
Because he didnt actually watch the movie lmfao someone else watched it. Wrote the script for this video
Fr i thought i watched a whole different movie lmaoo
Yup. Whoever watched the movie clearly hasn’t read the books and didn’t thoroughly research their ideas- first time I’m disappointed in NR, which considering the number of their videos it not too shabby tho
Even after the water of life Paul professed his love for chani…I don’t think Paul was using anyone, it just seems that way when he realizes his revenge also aligns with the path.
I saw this movie yesterday, and while I haven't read the books in about 25 years, I was impressed that the film was able to achieve close to a level of nuance, and convey the manipulation that was present in the novels. Dune: Part 2 is spectacular visually, incredibly well-acted, and the score has majesty to it. I adore it. Highly recommend.
So how many books are left for the films to adapt for dune?
@@TtyumbraI think Denis will only do the second book-there are five more books. There’s a lot of room in the Dune universe to do several mini-series. I’m looking forward to the Bene Gesserit series coming to Max later this year.

For real!!!! ❤
I couldn't tell if my heart was beating or the seat was shaking for that scene.

We went to see it on Dolby and we experienced the same and it was so satisfying!
Dune Pt. 2 had many chilling scenes, but the one where Paul addresses the people in the war council in the south tops them all IMHO. It was a "oh dang, this is how ascend to power works" moment.
I agree, i loved the scene and way Timothee performed.
gave me chills to the spine
Agreed. I loved how Dune 2 leaned into the fact that Paul is not a good person for the Fremen, in the end.
it's a bit inaccurate to say that Paul was just using Chani from the start. I think its pretty clear he did love her, even after taking the water of life and realizing what needed to be done
Did the Story tell that? No.
@@bobmarley1686lol the story didn’t say otherwise either.
@@bobmarley1686 bruh, they gonna have kids and shit
the story did say that and so did the books
Okay but the way Feyd and Paul stab each other alluded to the way Gurney caught Paul in their training session (Dune 1).
That was slick.
Caught this when i rewatched part 1. The foreshadowing is amazing
Everyone who agrees that Paul was NOT manipulating the Fremen the whole time and NOT lying about everything.
👇
Agree.
The movie kinda shows him manipulating them. But I never got that from the book
@@dan816fulI dont agree. I feel like he goes straight to the point and do what he has to do because now he sees everything and knows that there's only one way for them to live\win. I dont take it as manipulation, more like I dont care what you think, I'm doing what I have to do for the good of the people. I also think he truly love Chani and it broke his hart to marry the emperor's daughter but still does it for the greater good. However, I didnt read the books ...yet. Ordering them tonight haha
@@MrThibault6969Paul also never wanted to go to the south knowing what would happen. So how did he take advantage of the freemen
Well he knew what he was doing. This is why he yelled at his mother saying what the bene gessurit did was “NOT HOPE” its religious deception. Although i do think he has their best interest in mind
I think the move that Paul uses to stab na-Baron was a nod to Gurney's lesson from Part 1 as well, a little detail I liked.
Yuuuup. I got that right away
It's a damn the character that kills the Baron and has a whole character arc because of it isn't even born yet in the movie, what do we do now, moment.
Yess!!! That scene reminded me of that!
Yep, defo got that
Paul doesn't hear Chani say place the thumper lower. It shows he remembers his training from Chani and Stilgar
Yeah, but that viewing point was great for Paul to walk a few meters away, catch a worm, plow through several large dunes for a few minutes before getting up in time to pass the spectators. I guess the Shai-Hulud was doing laps, confused by the thumper in its gullet!
@@Dudemon-1imagine he just does donuts and gives Chani a good yeehaw lmao
This video has multiple inaccuracies, a little disappointing cause they are pretty blatant too
The bombing wasn't on the spice plant but on the "shield wall" mountains that surround Arrakeen. So that Stilgar could attack with the worms.
So many omissions in the world-building, making no mention about the prohibition of using nukes about troops, laser-shield explosions, and the code of the Great Convention... No wonder people are confused.
correct
This also how Paul skirted the rules of using nuclear weapons. If it had been directly at people then a total retaliation would of been required at least that is what I read.
Dune: Part Two was my most anticipated film for the past three years and it didn’t disappoint. Denis managed to exceed all of my expectations. Not only is Part Two my favorite film of the year but now of all time surpassing The Wizard of Oz (1939) which was my favorite film of all time for over a decade and a half. Long live cinema!
It may have cracked my top 10. Hans Zimmer never disappoints. Cinematography at A+ levels again as well.
I try to wait before I judge a film. I like it to hold up. Like I thought avengers endgame was amazing the first time I saw it. But now it’s ok but I wouldn’t say it’s one of the best movies. This movie is definitely really good. I think after watching it a few times you get a better perspective. But yeah this is one of the best movies I’ve watched. But we’ll see how it holds up. I don’t see it falling off like endgame though.
@@forfun6273 I don't think it can fall off like Endgame. Endgame was good and engaging, even fun, but we got to see what happened to everyone. That's what was so good about it. But it wasn't the best..
@@pttthhh yeah I agree.
The Marvels was a much better film
He was not using Chani. He only decided to go along with the prophecy once he realized it was the only way to save them. Chani is his true love.
I feel like this is blatantly obvious. But, I haven't read the books so idk
Such a weird take/ interpretation of the movie imo. I think it was pretty clear Paul was not using Chani from the beginning. It seemed apparent that he desperately did not want to be the Lisan Al Gaib but only after drinking the Water of Life that he embraced it.
I've had such a great day with my son, we were watching Dune part 1 here at home while having a nice dinner, the went to the city to watch part 2 on the cinema, 5+ hours of awesomeness. We both agreed that part 1 was 9 stars and part 2 10 stars. Part 2 was probably the best film I've seen since the The Lord of the Rings, and just as good. Something hard to admit for a massive Tolkien fan. Also, there's been a temperature above 10 Celsius today, at the second day of spring, after a really hard winter here in Norway, that made it feel like summer compared to how it has been. 🙂
@kishenkoolskills90 Lucky bastard... I'd give anything to be able to see LotR again for the first time :P Go for it!
The book actually says “Once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.”
So it's implied that the Butlerian Jihad wasn't just against thinking machines but against men using thinking machines to enslave others.
Thank you! The book is very clear that it’s not a war of machines against humans but a war between humans. That’s why I only consider the books by Frank Herbert to be canon. It makes me so mad that Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson made it like the Terminator movies.
The Titans who were men merged with thinking machines.
Actually, according the book, "Dune: The Butlerian Jihad" it was a war against both Thinking Machine AND Humans who had merged with machines.
@@demistic1248 Yes, that’s in book by Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson, which to me is nothing more than fanfic. And it completely contradicts what Frank Herbert wrote in _Dune_ .
@@bbartky The books were written based on Frank Herbert's own notes. Considering these were the same duo that ended up completing the Dune saga for Frank Herbert after his passing, I believe they have enough in sight to be considered a bit more reliable than standard fanfic. 🤷♂
I think your take on how Paul’s manipulating the whole time is all wrong.
He’s genuinely concerned with the visions he’s seeing of billions dying. And holy warriors worshipping at the shrine of his father’s skull.
He doesn’t want all this death attached to him. For most of the movie he’s avoiding going south because that path may bring death to billions.
As much as I liked the film, including the nuance, I still felt Paul's move from reluctant messiah to confident one was under explained. I am sure all will be revealed in Dune 3
@@tedczarnecki7351it was explained by him taking the Water of Life
@@tedczarnecki7351 His change in attitude came from him not predicting the Harkonen attack on Sietch Tabr despite his previous ones being accurate. He took the Water of Life so that he’d have a better understanding of the future.
@@tedczarnecki7351Under explained? We spent the first half talking about how he's hesistant and in search for answers hear that he can see everything from drinking the water of life. He went and did it, and all his actions changed due to it. The water of life made him see clearly, and his actions speaks louder than any monologue he could've done after the setup of the 1st half.
@@tedczarnecki7351I agree that the movie didn’t do enough to explain the change.
In the book it’s made clear that when Paul, the first male ever to survive the drinking of the water of life, the thing the bene gesserit had been trying to make possible for 10000 years of selective breeding, effectively became omniscient.
Access to all of his male and female ancestral memories, as well as “prescience”, future sight, combined with “mentat” training to act as a human calculator. He’s literally all knowing.
That’s why his personality changes. He can see the past and all futures, and has to try to forcibly bring about the one that has the least bloodshed in the end
Paul’s salute to Feyd-Rautha was a call back to when he took Jamis’ life. Jamis said it to him before they fought.
Yes and no, that is just a common saying among the Fremen before a duel
He was also Honouring Duncan Idaho.
I remember the "apparently" winning move from his training with Gurney in Dune 1
It's actually emblematic of who Paul (Muad'Dib) has become. A leader of and from two worlds.
The raising of the blade to the shoulder and then forehead is a House Atreides pre-battle gesture, whereas the motto "May thy knife/blade chip and shatter" is Fremen.
That's just Paul being a Fremen, it's their way.
That scene where Paul rides the worm for the first time was amazing with the Prime Rumble Seats. This was an epic movie. I want to see it again.
Me too. I can't stop thinking about it. I watched it in 70mm but I want to go see it again at IMAX.
I don't think Paul put the ring away to hide his nobility. Wearing a ring is not good if you are a warrior because it can get snagged on something. It also would not be smart to wear a shiny object when you are trying to be camouflaged. My thinking is he was having a moment of reflection and wearing the seal to remember his father and then put it away when he needed to go back to his mission.
As a certified Dune-nerd, allow me to explain the ring. He put the ring away in the beginning because in order to survive, he had to become Fremen first. He put the ring back on and claimed his Emperor-given fief of Arrakis as its rightful duke for two reasons: 1) To proclaim his authority as leader of a Great House in order to give his claim for the throne legitimacy and (most importantly) 2) By naming himself as Duke of Arrakis, and uniting the tribes under his banner, he no longer had to challenge Stilgar for leadership of Sietch Tabr. Paul: "Is there anyone here who thinks they can best me in single combat? Shall I weaken the tribe by cutting off my right hand?" The answer: "It is the way". Paul's reply? "Ways change."
If you think he was just using Chani and the Fremen, then you really weren’t paying attention.
I got Dune Spice fever... And the only cure for it is more Dune Spice! 😂😂😂
i'm like any other fremen, i put my still suit on one nostril at a time

This was modern day Empire Strikes Back, a great movie that ends on a WTF cliffhanger, can’t wait til we get to see Messiah.
The book influenced Lucas. Star Wars is derivative, not the other way around.

For me, Villeneuve’s Dune interpretation marks the highest achievement in sci-fi cinema history. We are very lucky to live in a time where we can watch this in the theatre.
That’s facts, not just you
Agreed!! I got to watch it in huge screen theater with the rumbling seats and everything, it was incredible! I really hope this is one of those films that makes it back to theaters for special screenings every so often. Everyone should get to experience it like that!
i mean... i kinda agree. like i just watched it on my laptop unfortunately... but even still that was probably the best sci fi movie ive ever seen... as somone who loves star wars but still isnt my fave ip (marvel forever) that was without question better than any star wars movie ive ever seen
23:22 I digress, he’s not a monster although it may seem like it. Since he’s got prescience, he’s got to do the things that need to be done. Yes billions may die, but in the long term (thousands of years after) humans would actually flourish if he did this, & if he didn’t extinction might be possible.
And I just would like to add that before he drank the h2o of life he wasn’t trying to manipulate anyone. He was just surviving, and wanted to get revenge on the harkonnens. But after he drank it he knew he’s got no other way than to manipulate. That’s why he puts the ring back on. Just a take on it!
Exactly! It. Seems nobody got it, he knew he needed to to be able to win, he needed to manipulate not only for his sake, but for the freeman and also the legacy of his father and house.
I don't believe Eric's actually read the books. He misinterpreted a good handful of things about the plot. (They use atomics to detonate the shield wall giving them access to Arakeen for example)
He probably has writers for these videos I don't think he does this all himself. That said I agree multiple things were interpreted wrong that were pretty big plot points in the books.
the water of life wasn't just about pain.... it opened them up to all of their ancestors living memories....
Yeah no. Your characterization of Paul as manipulative is completely wrong here. Throughout the movie he is getting visions of the holy war and it is getting more and more inevitable. You said yourself; Paul is a tragic hero. He is cursed to see that the only way he can survive leads to billions dead. By the time he has taken the Water of Life, he quite literally is acting out the script required for him to remain alive. Irulan says in this movie that the Maud'Dib can't even be killed - because he will just be martyred and this is an important element that comes to play in Dune Messiah. Paul is locked in to this future he sees, and nothing he can do will stop it. The rest in the series of books is all about how this ability to see the future is what would inevitably be humanity's downfall.
Austin butler in this movie, is who Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher was supposed to be in Thor: love and Thunder

It’s been 10 hours since I’ve seen this film, and I’m still awe struck 👏
I usually like watching your videos on analyzing movies but I think you should read the books when you have time. Paul is not using the Fremen OR Chani. He uses Princess Irulan (pronounced eeh-roo-LAHN) for power and influence
Keep up the good work 👍
Gurney's training session with Paul in the first film and the lessons taught there foreshadow how Paul's fight with Feyd ends.
My biggest issue is how in the 1st they said the other houses look up to HouseAtreides but even after finding out about the emperors betrayal etc the other houses still didn’t back Paul’s ascension as emperor.
Great point
Its because they are all greedy and want a chance for control themselves
I thought that too, but I’m guessing they didn’t take to him nuking their source of spice very well. It’s basically space travel fuel among other things.
They had to take Paul down when they found out about him leading the attacks on spice production
@@wutzittouya3765Paul doesn't nuke the spice. He nukes the mountain beside Arrakeen to let Stilgar attack with sandworms. The mountain was a natural barrier protecting the city.
Yeah. Paul wasn't using Chani and also saw how the Water of Life would change him. The sudden change came because he drank the water.
I think Paul genuinely loved Chani and didn’t want to drink the water but knew if he wanted to ascend he HAD to
Well you didn't really mentioned the changes from the book except the fact that Alia was not born in this story, I think it would be a great idea for another video since there are so many

@@demistic1248 After a second watch, the movie get's so much better. I tried to not focus on the things they changed. I thought that it's a great movie after the first watch but now I think it's even better.
They didn't bother to bring in Alia in a weird cgi way and so they changed the story which I kinda like now. I also like how Chani is different from the books, I think they made a solid background in this movie to back those changes. So overall even I am a big fan of the books, I am satisfied with this movie but it needs at least a second watch and a few days to think it all through.
Saw it last night and it is STUNNING. I didn't get to see it in IMAX yet as I want to crowds to die down to see it in my IMAX but DAMN!!!
I HONESTLY believe the demand for this movie in IMAX will NEVER "die down", until it leaves the theater.

Stunning in IMAX.
The changes made hurt the movie in several ways but helped in others.

Who cares about crowds in 2024? Buy your tickets early enough and you can pick where you want to sit. It's not like the old days where if the crowds were big enough you were just stuck sitting in bad seats.
Paul won the end battle the same way Gurney won their practice bout in the first film. Dagger to the rib.
This film is an absolute masterpiece.

1. Paul does not hear Chani say lower
2. Paul does not target the spice store in the end, its the mountains that were protecting the city from the storm. This wears off the shield of the emperor's ship
IF you pay attention to the talk between paul and his unborn sister in the start of the film you realize pauls intentions are set and he always planned to rule and forsaw it, he says dad i found my way as well and says that he believes in revenge all before starting his journey with the fremen.
i agree with your interpretation that Paul becoming a monster and serving as the anti-hero by the end is exactly what Denis was trying to portray. This is made more evident i think by the name of the track that zimmer composed for the ending scene. it uses the same melody as paul and Chani's romance theme, but the track is called "Kiss the ring" showing how their love has been perverted to serve Paul's interests for power and revenge. beautifully subtle and tragic writing here.
LOL i love your random outburst about caucasian palettes xD
1) I thought the 2 nukes were just making an opening in the rock for the sand worms to enter the perimeter and not destroying a spice plant
2) I would like to know how the Freemen know how to pilot the emperors ships and what they planned to do with them
3) I had the distinct impression Paul was just playing a part and fulfilling the role in his visions by going south. He wanted to stay in the north so he could stay with Chani.

The shai-halud (sandworm) that Chani summons at the end of Dune Pt. 2 looks the same size as the "grandfather worm" that Paul called for his first ride.
The worm Paul summoned was huge, but not unprecedented, at least in the book.
No it was smaller.
The floating soldiers look good (and not goofy) because their movements are similar to real-world astronauts on the moon with lesser gravity. Because we have all seen this image of astronauts jumping on the moon, this harks back to that memory.
This is tha best story based movie I’ve seen in awhile. It showed what movies could be even tho I don’t think we will get movies that live up to this one again it’s in its own realm
I reckon the Atreides gladiator scene was one of the best in this movie. The colors, the suspense, the actual fight and the ending.........phenomenal.
PART 3 LETS GO
the first book is complete I doubt they'll be another one for a long time...... If there is it better be Dennis again
@@qcrew2938part 3 is confirmed as the last movie by Villeneuve, isn't it?
So impressed with the visuals of this film. Every scene was breathtaking. Not just the cinematography, but also the creativity of it. Never seen a shot like the Womp scene before and it was so unique.
I understood the battle differently from how you described it. As I understood it, they don't blow up a nearby spice field, but instead the mountain range that protects the city from the incoming sandstorm. The emperor is adviced to leave the planet and wait out the storm in orbit, but the baron interjects (and I'm paraphrasing): "The mountains will protect us from the worst of it." So the Fremen blow a hole and use this created mountain pass to attack the Sardukaar with their sandworms from an unexpected angle, followed by a huge deadly sandstorm that kills even more while also protecting the worms from Harkkonen aircraft. Showing that Paul has truly mastered Dunes Desert Power, combined with his own Atrades, Bene Gesserit and Harkkonen Power. It is a fantastic culmination of all of Pauls story pieces coming together, building up all the way to the duel against Feyd. A duel between two destined messiah. This shit is so dope, you guys. XD
Saw the movie on Wednesday when it came out in France and I found the translation for Chani's name interesting because instead of translating spring to mean a source of water they translated it to mean the season of the year (printemps du désert). I was thinking about that after coming home and wondering if it was a mistake or not. I don't think it is, but translating it to mean a source of water would make more sense.
Book is English, so translation is not really accurate... thank for pointing
Hmm, I didn't notice until you mentioned this. In Polish version it was also the season of year version, just as in French. Interesting.
The best movie I’ve seen with a standing ovation since
1. The Dark Knight
2. Avengers Endgame
3. Dune Part 2
Mount Rushmore of great entertainment movies 🔥🔥🔥🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
I like this quote that my friend said after reading dune messiah
“Paul is a victim of fate”
This movie really made me a fan of Dune and its lore/ world. I never read the books and watched Part 1 a few days before seeing Part 2. These two movies are incredible and I can’t stop thinking about them. It’s rare to have movies stay in your mind and have you thinking about them days after watching them.
Also, I would love to have one of those watches but they are nearly 3K ($2,500) 😔.
Read the book! The real story is way better than the movies. They changed characters and plot points in the movies, especially part 2
Are we just ignoring the fact that NR is literally just showing the full film from a camrip or something here?? Some of these screenshots are not in trailers lol
Cry
This movie has made me constantly think about it and I want to live in that universe so bad 😂 Denis is a genius I swear
its videos like these that make you realize that A.I cannot replace the emotions human actors create for the audiences in films
I really hope part 2 makes so much money that WB fastracks part 3, cuz Denis said he wanted to do other stuff first, which could be a while.
Baron Harkonnen to Paul Atreides.. "Paul... I am your father!"
The Amrita in Avatar: Way of Water is also a reference to the Water of Life in Dune 🤯
Extracting a liquid through the mouth of a planet's largest beast in water
I loved Eric's rant about British cuisine 😂😂😂
If you want to experience Earth in a somewhat Infrared Spectrum like in Dune 2, go outside an urban environment to the countryside with no artificial street lighting around; do so during a 1/4 moon as a half moon or greater reflects too much of Sol’s light spectrum. The environment you see will be revealed in Black, White and shades of gray.
I really hope Denis Villeneuve gets to direct RENDEZVOUS WITH RAMA
He will, he will
and i am looking for Star wars the old one. it should be incredible
That's not how it ended in the book between Paul and Chani. It's the only part I didn't like.
Same. I didn't mind other differences, but that one wasn't right.
Can u recap the difference for us plz
@@NoraGermain Chani stuck by His side. and Jessica tells H3r history will remember H3r as W!fe.
it’s so that we get the idea that not everyone is on his side and to give the idea of a prophet a counterbalance
@@objectdefiance4027 I feel like Denis will come back to that later as it did seem solely done for cliff hanger purposes
15:03 Paul doesn’t listen, he has learned
It was so amazing on IMAX! I heard it was more intense on 4D.
It was intense and honestly kind of distracting lmao
2:20, It's actually book accurate that Paul's story is told from the perspective of other characters. In the book, each chapter starts with a quote from a future book referencing the events of the chapter. This gives the impression that the events are all recreated or second hand recollections of what happens.
The scene of Paul riding the sandworm alone is reason enough for anyone to watch this movie in theaters. Simply incredible.
What an unbelievable movie
TIMMY GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK WITH THAT "SILENCE" 😭
Probably the greatest sequel + book adaption oat-
i have alot of favourite scenes but its hard to top the council in the south scene, that scene was fuckin insane but Feyd's introduction is close
Best movie I’ve seen in a long time
His mom and everyone around him are the real monsters imo and the film showcases the tragedy that is Chani’s perspective literally without flaw
This must have been rushed. You got a lot wrong.
Was thinking the same
It’s obvious they’re not book readers and are just hopping on
@@boat1280funny thing is, I haven't read the books (yet), but even I can tell they got a lot wrong about the film 😅
I wanted creepy Alia
I got half way through and had to stop listening. So many mistakes. I also disagreed with the pre-water-of-life Paul manipulating the Fremen but, admittedly, that's mostly just opinion.
From a visual standpoint there are some really nice choices that are homages to previous interpretations of Dune, The Geiger esc architecture of the Harkonen. Who got his start in Hollywood on Jodorosky’s Dune
Paul isn’t using Channi, he’s using the princess.
The moment he got up on the sandworm, I was straight up clapping my in the theater. My mind is spinning w adrenaline right now! SO good
Been waiting for this video! Saw this movie at early screening last week and going again tonight 😅
Couldn’t agree more! A true EPIC experience in cinema. The Lawrence call out … Jeff’s kiss
It's "chef's kiss." Just fyi.
@@srameypr depends on who you are quoting. I’m quoting Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin. Some people know more than you. I’m a chef too I should know 😉
This movie was WONDERFUL. I'm going back to see it again on Sunday evening.
This movie was absolutely stirring. Wow.
I watched the first dune before going to the movies to see the second part. Wheeeew. I’m not even a big dune fan and I can say I was blown away by how good it was. Most the time I fall asleep at a movie. But I was awake and engaged the entire time watching this
Dune 1 was a work of art, but this takes it to another level...wow!!!
Villeneuve is top tier. We are fortunate to have such a bold director in Hollywood today.
They fully knew Paul was noble. He tells stilgar and Chani a few times last movie.
Some of the things you say it feels like you weren’t paying attention at times. He wasn’t using chani.
I came for the recap I stayed for the Brittish Bake Off rant
I have already seen it twice and I will see it more as soon as possible
