I know I'm self-sabotaging because I can relate to all except the last sign. I am fully aware that I'm doing it, the problem is it feels like I know that I have to stop, but when I try, the successes only last a little while, then is followed by a long period of quiet suffering. I know I have to at least try to do many things and stop myself from thinking those ugly thoughts, but it feels impossible to even start doing something good for myself. I've been aware that a lot of bad things that have happened to me are my fault, but somehow I just never learn my lesson or take the severity of the situation seriously. I have had so many meltdowns and I always feel like I'm in a sad haze for another week straight after my meltdowns. I just don't know how to stop it, the answer seems so simple, but it's so hard to do.

I never asked to be hateful, these feeling were forced upon me by my abuser, and for that, I genuinely hate them for what they've done to me, it took me a long time to realize that I wasn't supposed to keep giving this person chances, or accept their false Idea of "love". Hate makes you weaker when it's unprecedented. Hate in my instance is my only shovel out of this.

@@FriezaSucks It may not make a lot of sense just now... BUT you'll understand it in time, and it needs said. Beware of who or what you hate, and how much you hate it/them... It's too easy to become exactly and everything you've hated.
They were awful to you. It's likely, they've been and will continue to be awful to others, too. Sooner or later, they will be awful to the worst choice of person, and they'll get everything they deserve. That's not a reason to either do nothing at all, nor to forgive or forget... You should remember so you learn from the past, as not to repeat it.
Heal yourself... then let it go. I believe in you. ;o)

The best method for helping someone who is self-sabotaging is to point out that no matter what you say, they always find excuses, or find things wrong. This isn't best method and for persons whom this style isn't appropriate often leads more to some things mentioned in the vid like hiding from expressing emotions around others, forced incompetence because this is just another failure to add to the ever growing list, and social isolation. Thus leading some deeper into the often overlapping depression and consequences thereafter. If going to take on the task then choose a method appropriate for that person. It takes some active awareness instead of the idea of awareness

It is possible to break that self defeating mindset! It was only after getting diagnosed with depression that realized I hadn't focused on loving myself for me, for a really long time. My inner voice had become so negative without me realizing. But recognizing that is the first step in the right direction! From there on, don't shut the voice up but just listen to yourself, realize how negative it is and counter it with a positive thought. In the beginning it might feel forced or awkward, but that's only because you forgot what it was like to be kind to yourself. Eventually the negative will start to have less grip and grow more silent. Even then, don't forget you still have to actively nurture the positivity inside you. We all deserve to feel loved, especially by ourselves! I believe in you, so please believe in yourself too ❤️

I just stumbled on this video, and I thought, “Oh well, it couldn’t hurt to check it out.” At first, it just seemed like a coincidence, but as you mentioned, “unnecessarily sacrificial,” it just clicked. I’ve been getting ready to join the army by any means, whether that be West Point or enlisting as a private, because I thought to myself, “You’ll get what you deserve either way.” I had no idea how ready I was to just give up on myself and cut everything short. Thank you so, so much for showing me this, it made me realize that I was doing the right thing for the wrong reasons. I’ll try to work with myself on these things.❤

I'm socially isolated, but it's not because I cut myself off from society. I was rejected by the kids in my neighborhood before I even started school. I was desperate to start school, thinking I would find friends there--but I didn't. I wish you would do a video on peer-group rejection.

Why is it everytime I watch one of your videos I feel like you're out to attack me not help me. All I got from this is "here are 7 habits of self-destruction and they're all your fault"
Yes I am self destructive, I am something of a self saboteur I admit that but I also have a diagnosed mental health and learning disability. Alot of the traits you mention coincide with alot of those conditions. The low self esteem, the self destructive behaviour, talking negatively about yourself. And being bad at math is not because I am self defeating and deciding to give up, it's because I have dyslexia and traits of discalculia. I genuinely can't work with or understand numbers in the same way others do.
    So thank you very much.

    • @pickituup34
      @pickituup34 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I also suffer from dyslexic style issues related to math, pretty sure it’s also affected my ability to communicate with people in a healthy fashion, never mind countless frustrations in academia throughout my teenage/college years. but please do yourself a favor, and not be defensive about the way these videos make you feel.
This is clearly a generous free public service being offered, and educational tool.
What we do with it, is up to us. But nobody is blaming anyone, for anything they do here.

I often think we are all way too hard on ourselves! Is there actually anybody out there that is “the best version of themselves”? Is there really anyone who has it all together? If there is I want to know who they are. I believe even those we THINK have it all together and are living their best life, I bet they’re secretly just as messed up as we are! Point being let’s all just be a little kinder to ourselves and not expect ourselves to be some kind of perfection like we see on some infomercial or some self-help guru speak!!!! We’re all just doing the best we can!

Hello! I was wondering... My friend and I are making a google site called Mental Helper, which is an information source about mental disorders. My friend has used several of your videos as sources for information.
I wanted to ask... Is this okay? She didn't ask so I figured I would. If we don't have permission I'll ask her to remove the videos right away. If you don't want us linking your videos, can we at least mention your channel as an incredible information source? It's not as though the website is gonna get super popular or anything, and your channel is AMAZING for psychology stuff explained in a simple fashion.

@@teffley2766 It's worth pointing out that using a proper "Citation" (and I'm not sure what that constitutes online) is the difference between "fair use" and plagiarism... In video form, I'm not even sure where to point you to for better explanations on how to do it properly... BUT that even when you paraphrase (use your own words for the same material) you should cite the material from whence you got it...
In text, there are two forms, both of which could be at least "satisfactory" for use in an end-card and in your descriptions or the pinned comment, so you cover all bases...something like this :
["Paraphrase or Quote directly the material" (Book/Vid source, page or min/sec notation). ] AND you can directly link the video either directly after, or below, with a bracketed or parenthetical note about it being the "complete video"... Part of the flexibility here is so you can still make your "Doobly Doo" or the Pinned Comment(s) "look pretty"... which they should.
Finally, don't degrade your work. Yeah, I know, in all honesty, it's a pretty far and few between instance that "blows up" online and gets wildly popular... BUT if you reign your hopes in TOO hard, you'll start to forget to put your passion into the work. Frankly, I doubt P2G would get totally pissed about you linking or citing their work as source for your own...
AND that said, it's worth sitting through the P2G vid's TWICE... First time, you just absorb the video undistracted. THE SECOND time, you go through and pause periodically when THEY reference something or someone, so you can hit Wikipedia... AND look through the bottom of the wiki's... There's a wealth of bibliographical information (Wikipedia CITATIONS for their sources for information in the article)... In fact, it wouldn't be a bad idea to just glance over how Wikipedia does their citations so you have a good idea of how to flesh out your own Doobly-Doo's and add bibliographical information for your own videos. It's a work in progress, so have some patience for yourself. You may (probably will?) eventually be asked or have the demand to take down a vid'... whatever. It happens. Try to pursue what exactly was the problem, and see how you could fix it... whether you find a different source of very similar information, so they can't keep flagging you, or you just cut that fragment out in a re-edit, and put the rest back up.
I'm just hoping to help you out... not just for now, but for a LONG time to come. ;o)

#3 is something everyone seems to accuse me of when I'm actually taking a break but it's quite the opposite, I activelg plan and start, change the plan as I go along but my major issue is money right now...otherwise I hesitate before sending off applications to jobs thinking I'm under qualified...working on that part.
#4 but I actually want to work on my skills, my circumstances has me in a bind at the moment but I want to try to gain hands on experience so I won't feel lost anymore. Someone is trying to help me with it.
#6 I used to be but I'm working on stopping as it always ends badly for me. I give up on myself to focus on others needs..now that person is gone, doing fine and moving on with their life while I'm recovering and picking up the pieces.

I've also delt with some depression and it's easier to look at the positive side for others than inside my head.
I also have a hard time trying something new because I either talk myself out of it, thinking about things too critically, or I'm more focused on the possibility of failure instead of looking at mistakes as part of the whole process.

This has been especially true because of the absence of masculine energy in your channel. I literally had to close this video because of the VO - keep that in mind a bit please. I just don't want to live of my parents money. My whole 24 years are fucking shame in terms of personal achievement. I failed my purpose on Earth. I just want to end this endless spiral. It's just killing me every day and night. It's been years since I've taken a happy sleep. I'm just a shame.
