I believe companies do this on purpose, labeling low end gaming laptops as the ideal since they think everyone plays moderate spec games like Fortnite, and Pubg.

it got i5 9th gen 8gb and gtx1650 and currently 699 on amazon i think atleast thats what i bought. its one of the best cheap and gaming laptop im sure you have heard that you cant buy a gaming laptop for 300 dollars

i heard many complaints about thermal issue as the fans are cramped up together, especially near the WASD keys which can bring up the temperature of these key areas up to 50 degree. But from your review, i guess a bit of undervolt, replacing thermal paste and running it on max fan would solve the problem.

I've got a -160 undervolt on my I5-9300, pair that with an repaste, and moderate gaming has both gpu and cpu at between the low 50's and 60's, which is a HUGE improvement over the original low 70's and 80's it was getting in the same games. Unfortunately, even at such low temps, the fans still ramp up to 4000 rpm, which is overkill for those temps...

17.3 inch budget gaming laptops nowadays are really good...
I mean, in my opinion 17.3 inch screen are the most ideal one for 1080p gaming experience on the go since i feel 15.6 inch panel aren't big enough to my liking...
Not to mention the 17.3 inch budget gaming laptop nowadays have a similar dimension and weight to most of 15.6 budget gaming laptop last year cause of their smaller chassis...
By the way, it seems the cooling solution are improved for this year, i never expect that giving an extra heatsink would make this much of impact to cooling performance...

There's something strange about the new 2019 Nitro series. I'm not a fan of red and black laptops, on the contrary I despise them but...there's something about the red details of the N5 and N7, they even look classy...I must be going senile!
Andres Valdevit I have one, the red backlight kinda gets tiring to look at but atleast the overall design isn't as flashy compared to similarly priced ROGs or other brands

So what was the whole deal with the hard drive...? Did it not come with one installed or was that an upgrade? New to this looking for a descent computer for school/college and gaming.

It's not as fast as even the 15w Intel CPUs unfortunately. In my opinion it's best point is the Vega 8 graphics. My wife uses it for day to day stuff and it's good for that.

There is a linux version of nitro 5. But problems with drivers if you want to load windows.
Undervolted and better thermal paste applied it might run cooler

hey! great content! im thinking which im gonna buy in december (under 850$), and the best options seems to be this nitro 5 (799$), the MSI GL63 (799$, i7-8750H, Nvidia gtx 1650 4Gb, 8Gb RAM, 256gb ssd) and ASUS ROG G531GT (823$, i7-9750H, Nvidia gtx 1650 4gb, 8gb RAM, 512Gb ssd); which one would you recommend me?? i'd like to play games like far cry and call of duty, and i dont mind playing in medium settings (of course the laptop that could provide me a high settings would be the best).

Thats odd, its advertised having a 144hz screen even on a physical store. Though you might not get that much with a gtx1650 though unless you adjust the settings.
In light old games like CS-go,lol and other you can. But I agree 1050 ti< 1650 gtx < 1060 gtx

My Asus TUF505DU got 5 hours, the Acer Nitro 5 got 6 hours 40 mins. Streaming TH-cam at 25% brightness. The other laptop I haven't tried.

I bought same one i5 9300, gtx 1650, 8gb. Only difference i have 120 hz ips screen. And i paid 1000$ (from Turkey). I have no problem yet.
Yeah, my kids use mine and as you can imagine they fling it everywhere. Dog walks on it and it's perfectly fine.

What's your opinion about elutronics mech 17 rtx 2070
I have the RTX 2060 one and I think it is very good. Fairly light weight and small foot print for a 17", not like the GS75 , but still good. Screen is decent, speakers are average, keyboard is good but performance is stellar - their Eluktroboost will increase FPS by 10% on the 2070. And that is a full 2070 too. I know this is a nitpick, but outward hinges are bad! If you ever drop the laptop, the hinge is at risk of being smashed.

Not good. I have voiced my concerns to Hidevolution because it performs like a GTX 1660 Max Q - some 20 fps behind the Helios 300. Screen is poor. They are coming back to me because I was going to compare it to the Helios 300 but it basically will get slammed and ASUS may get pissed.

GTX 1650 is around 25% faster, and it's newer Turing architecture.

@@Radek494 i know for ram, certain laptops have max rams (example for nitro 5, its max ram is 32GB. Some laptop will ne 16GB and others 8GB) but for storage, im not so sure if theres such thing..

Thanks ! The i5 9300h is definitely faster than the 3750h . The 1660Ti in the TUF505DU is held back because of this CPU and performance is like a 1660 To max Q but is still faster than a GTX 1650.

@@asdadasdasd7556 it is very sturdy. The panel is quite thick and has little flex. I may not be a fan of how it looks but I cannot fault it's robustness. It also runs very cool, although mine is repasted with liquid metal but the 3750h only uses about 35 to 40w so doesn't get too hot.

It too had a 60 Hz panel but the 4800H is available with a 144 Hz one I believe.

What about the GTX 1660 ti version? Nitro 5 or Helios 300?
I like the cooling system of the Helios a bit better plus I prefer the styling of the Helios 300. Still, it's good to see fan control on even this lower model and there is plenty of storage options.
