It was a nightmare I was on there for 6 weeks. We were so bored started playing hide and seek throughout the ship.

    • @MrDW-ei1fe

      Every Marine Corps applicant is technically open contract after swearing in at MEPS.After that you sit down with your recruiter and pick 3 jobs you're interested in. A lot of them are going to be job fields and not specific mos'. You can sign an infantry contract but that doesn't guarantee you 0311, 0331, 0341 etc. unless you're a reservist. Oh and God forbid you go open contract. Don't go open contract regardless of what they tell you...

    • @meyer5563
      @meyer5563 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrDW-ei1fe right, I would like to go combat engineer as my first pick. I'm just wondering can I specifically get the combat engineer position or is it a pool. Like I could EITHER get combat engineer, regular engineer, electrician , etc. And I know most questions people get on youtube you could easily ask your recruiter and not he annoying to youtube but this question I feel like my recruiter would tell me what I want to hear versus the truth

    • @MrDW-ei1fe
      @MrDW-ei1fe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Meyer556 I think you can specifically get combat engineer. I had a couple of friends in boot camp and now in the fleet that were contract combat engineers and not reservists. If I’m not mistaken there’s a couple of contracts that have combat engineer as an option. If you want combat engineer then push for it.

    Wow - I was in the Navy - spent 5 years on ships - this represents absolutely nothing of my deployments, however, our Marines were just riders and did very little except clog the chow lines and the gym. The Sailors run and maintain the ship. I am very grateful for the work that the Marines do, but on ships, they're riders and the Navy just moves them around to do their job (which they do exceptionally well).

    And also, i had a question about the marines in general, deployment or at home. is there a place to constantly train martial arts similar to MCMAP ? I want to get into MMA after I leave the Marines but I’m a little worried they don’t actually focus on hand to hand combat much outside of boot camp/SOI. a response would be extremely appreciated, love your videos.

    • @TrelltheGreat
      @TrelltheGreat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah you definitely can keep doing MCMAP after bootcamp and stuff. I'm a black belt and you can practice as much as you want. And there are places off base if you want to specifically practice MMA.

    No deployments are alike. My deployment we rarely had any contact, easy deployment according to the more experienced NCOs who had been in longer, and the contact we did have I wasn't there until the end of it anyway, was 5 minutes short of getting a CMB. Then you have stuff like that movie Restrepo. THAT is a tough deployment

    • @firacingast

      Not in the service, but Marines are typically America's first response branch. They are an offensive branch that's goal is entirely in invasion. In recent years, they led pushes into places like Fallujah and many other parts of Iraq.

    • @marquez4497
      @marquez4497 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the mission. They’ll most likely send special forces first & then regular infantry.

    • @seansimms8503
      @seansimms8503 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the old days the Seals went in first to clear any invasion area of whatever or to recon...I wasn't in the 0300 field but I was in 0400, good thing about being 0400 you are the first to know whats going on because its the 0400s providing support and moving what ever unit where, 0431, went through Amphibious Assault School on Coronado Island in 1992, we ain't there for the Assault part, we go there to learn how to properly load and disembark the various ships, Aircraft, etc whatever, I always preferred Navy bases marine, food was better.

    • @michaelmatthias9495
      @michaelmatthias9495 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@firacingast false. Marines haven’t really been first to fight anywhere other than the pacific. Look it up. Rangers definitely have a higher chance of deploying and will usually deploy sooner. If a meu is in the area I can see them being sent first if needed though
