Uber had my background check running for 2 months.... when I called, I was always (to them) am impatient driver, when the actual issue was a technological one. After hitting my head against the wall, I told them to just delete my account. They don't deserve to make money off me. I hope more drivers follow suit

South Jersey driver here. My background check got pulled last year around Labor Day weekend. It was completed 1 minute later. Currently my lyft was pulled and it was completed right away but last year lyft took about a week. I think if u don’t drive all the time it takes longer. I didn’t turn lyft on at the time last year for about 6-9 months. Now I do about 5 rides a week or when ever there a guarantee or ride challenge.
There are states where you still don’t know where the destination is?? That was my biggest stresser, but in Cali they show you now. There are some suburbs I won’t drive in. Your vids are TH-cam gold. Thank you!
Eddie. You are my favorite. I usually find those lil clips people add kinda dumb but yours always cracks me up. You have a great personality. I know your future holds something great and I wish you nothing but the best in life. Uber doesn't deserve you.
I worked eight days in a row and I haven't gotten a fucking promotion in over 2 years as an Uber driver. I honestly hope that Uber gets us better customer support because it's a bunch of Pakistani and Indian nationals who barely speak English and they have no autonomy to help you whatsoever. the whole system is fucked.
They don't show us loyalty you cannot do the same, make a new account and enjoy the promotions - they literally hate veteran drivers. They'll fuck with their algorithm, not give quests or bonuses, take more fares, do this background check crap to kick them from getting quests ect. You gotta remember we are not their employees, they could give a shit about if we live or not. Source: A veteran driver.
they do that surge thing in vegas every morning at 330-4am on the strip...tons of people heading to airport at that time and naturally not a common time for drivers to be out. the problem with this on my end to stay out, is i have to often pass on ridiculous ride requests that are outside of the surge zone very often. in the end its not worth it sometimes.
It’s 100 percent true. When I used to work Uber and I was close to finishing my promotion, they either they stop giving me trips so that I don’t finish it or the give me hour long trips to waste the time and I won’t be able to finish the promotion. And what’s even crazier is that they closed my account because I took a picture of myself before turning on the app and I guess their system didn’t recognize me and they decided that I was account sharing. They really do not care about who’s working for them. Literally heartless people that will screw over someone that has a family and bills to pay and close an account for a mistake their system did.
Ha! Yeah. It feels like the algorithm just screws with the driver when they're close to getting quest. Long trips to discourage them and tire them out and quit early or no trips at all. 😤 It's amazing. Or they'll send me the most bogus UE orders ever that aren't realistic at all.
He so right! They even make rides longer so you won't hit it either. I only had 5 ride and 3 hours to do it. Out of nowhere I start getting 40 minutes plus rides. I cancelled 12 plus rides just to get a 5 minute ride. After I finish it. The took my rewards away due to my acception rate so I paid the price smh.
Oh you are soooo a math teacher!! "The minute you start talking numbers to people who don't know numbers, they tune you out" 🤣🤣🤣 My husband is brilliant with numbers, so are my kids. They don't relate to me at all. I often say "stop, just stop, I heard nothing you said, it's like Charlie Browns parents talking right now..so you might as well just stop" 🤣🤣 I do have to admit tho, you explain numbers better than anyone in my life ever has and I totally appreciate how much effort you put into explaining the facts and stats of the situation. Can't argue with these numbers! 💗💗💗
hahaha that's exactly what I'm talking about... props to you for being self aware and admitting you hear nothing but the womp womp womp 😂.. and im pumped that what i learned during the years of teaching paid off
This happened to me too and I was driving a lot… they said it was cause of a speeding ticket I had that happened months prior to getting kicked off and it was off the app but it doesn’t make sense cause when I first got hired and had to go thru my background check I still had a couple minor traffic violations at first so the timing was just weird during a holiday weekend as well while I was making good money! I’ve been doing DoorDash since and it’s pretty much the same shit except I don’t have to deal with people in my car anymore.
I can't tell you how many times I've had it happen to me that while trying to reach my quest number, that I got screwed and ran out of time by not making the required number of rides by JUST ONE RIDE!! I've been looking at Uber taking more of the fare for the last 4.5 years. It use to be max 30%. Now it ranges about 45% to 55% in my market area. You are right about the over saturation of drivers, that also makes a huge difference on how much you can make.
I swear they have to set it so the closer you get the promo the longer ride they give you to deter you. I've heard that from too many drivers. And yeah man, i was shocked when i saw my fares. And it makes no sense... sometimes the booking fee is $10 and sometimes its $1... in the same city!
@@Driver_Eddie They are up to all kinds of shenanigans and I can see why it feels that way when you miss that bonus..but I doubt thats how it works. The only time I have come close to missing a bonus that I was TRYING for...was because I flat out took too many long trips out of my area.
I got that background check a couple weeks ago right before the barefoot concert in wildwood where I live. It took a week for them to finally clear me to drive. No warning, no nothing. I lost at least $1000 because of that. I was pissed
2 months on hold and going for me. No end in sight. We all know Uber does not care about drivers since we are simply numbers. I'd like to think my 4.99 rating would elevate my situation over someone who's at a 4.86 but nope, we are both just black dots on an algorithm in their eyes. Filthy, unethical company.
Yeah I had the same problem with Lyft , I worked to get my bonus until Saturday and I need to get 6 more rides for my bonus on Sunday I have to wait 9 hours to get 6 rides I live near philly area ,

I drove for Uber a bit in sf to make some money while studying. I was lucky enough to get a rider who was very high up in Uber a little while back. He told me some of the ins and outs of Uber and it’s absolutely disgusting. He left the company for ethical reasons and I solute him for doing so. It’s not a bad gig to pick up and make some extra money but for full time drivers it’s a risky path to take.
Damn! That’s crazy I am curious on what he told you. I just think it’s nice they told everyone they don’t care about their drivers that way drivers understand that 😂

Love your channel and also I'm 100% in agreement with your point about the overall trend of the gig economy and how its really just a kind of grift allowing corporations to exploit workers by circumventing the labor protections. But this is only a part of the story. This circumvention was not as sneaky and underhanded or dishonest as opponents of gig economy work make it sound. It was a negotiated compromise made by the very same elected politicians that are supposed enforce labor protections. Instead of regulating workers as laborer, now they are regulated as businesses are. Drivers who say that they want labor type of protection can always go get a w2 type job afterall. So that's not really the issue. What those people are failing to mention is that the government also issues (and revokes) business licenses and governs and enforces business activities and business conduct. As long as gig workers operate as they should and pay their taxes like they are supposed to, their businesses are afforded government protection, albeit of a different kind. They are allowed to operate on the public roads and have controlled access to the marketplace orders so they can earn more or less depending on their platforms and market conditions. But the devil is always in the details and non competetivw Issues arise over who actually gets to control the market access and why. This may be what happened in your situation by suspending you when you were almost to your bonus. Was that a random background check or was it a way for them to jip you on your bonus? We may never know. IMO Business oriented drivers should focus less on wage and labor type protections and more on fair and open access to the marketplace and clear rules so every player has an opportunity to play the game and hopefully even earn a decent living if they play it well, Forcing more or less competition depending on market conditions is not traditionally the role of the government. Their role has been to monitor and get involved to enforce the rules as they are written. Although the Constitution does allow Congress to control trade within the territory thru the commerce clause, and enforced by federal agencies like dept of commerce. The issue is that the federal government for a long time has been offloading much of the responsibility to corporations, expecting then to self regulate. But clearly corporate entities have lost site of what being a good faith actor in a community means, as their incentives purely and unadulterated greed. Small players (like a one man uber operator) have little chance to lobby or buy newspapers like the Washington post to affect rule changes. Monied interests are able to manipulate public opinion, pressure politicians and manipulate markets in real time to force rule change in their favor. If you follow the money trail you will find out why Schumer and Pelosi are at this very moment blocking antitrust efforts. It's a pretty sordid mess. The role of government was only to call balls and strikes upon businessees that aren't in compliance and keep the game as fair as it possibly can be. By discouraging market entrants to only large competitors (and restricting and controlling access to capital markets) the government is effectively picking winners and losers in the game, and a one man uber operator is somewhat at a disadvantage to a corporate entity with deep enough pockets that they can buy out competition, pay for protection for their businesses and corner markets. This game is rigged against us but lest it sounds as if I'm complaining I'm not....I'm actually very grateful for the opportunity gig economy work provided us and I'm only just describing the mess we are in, and I'm sure you already know it. God bless America. Justice will prevail so long as we do our part. And these issues are nothing compared to other places in the world. Anyway the rich always get richer and Nobody said life was fair afterall. Follow the latest on the anti trust news. Uber is not mentioned specifically but their business model will likely be affected should it be pushed thru. It's a big fight in DC over the future of the online market and how it will be regulated. Hi Eddie, great and very informative video. Interesting seeing the comparison between Uber and Lyft in certain areas. Hope things turn around for you soon.
They also totally give you fewer and terrible orders if you don’t accept every offer or cancel one occasionally. Some of the UberEats orders I’ve gotten, for example, are like $5 for 8 or more miles…. Aka, the worse possible orders get funneled to some people, which makes them just not accept them because they’re awful, and before you know it, you can’t make a living! Agreed that we need a backup.
Uber engineers out there, time to contact Project Veritas and blow the lid off Uber - be brave, do something. I'm going to keep saying this until it happens.
Something similar happened to me. It was New Years Eve and the surge bonuses were through the roof. The surge bonuses were at $50 or higher. The only difference is that I was allowed to sign in but I was getting no rides even though the entire map was read from the massive surges everywhere. I called them to ask them WTF was going own and they were playing stupid claiming they didn’t know. I gave them an ear full telling them they were screwing me out of at least a $700 night. I was raging! Later I realized that they sabotaged me to save themselves some money. Assholes! 😡😡😡
Another trick of theirs when it's surging is to make you take a selfie before you go online so that by the time you're finally done with that bs and can go online, the surge is a small fraction of what it originally was. Classic Uber.
I swear whenever I select ANY of these ride based promotions, suddenly Uber/Lyft just start giving me the longest rides possible. Like not a single one under 20-30 min. They also sidelined me with the background check, but remind me twice a day that my smart serve is about to expire for the 3 weeks leading up to its expiration, and even after. But they made me do a background check 2 weeks before it even expired, with no warning…. Definitely something fishy happening there
Oh dude, you'll love the front page series currently going on in the Washington Post. For the last couple of days (July 12-15), they've been documenting how Uber rips *everybody* off. Including governments that let them operate. They have kill switches at their data centers so that government inspectors can't make surprise visits. "Oops, system just went down." I've never liked Uber, but I've enjoyed *your* videos, and I think you're on to something, so I thought I'd share this with you.
Lmao the hangover blackjack jawn when you're calculating the numbers is priceless. Bro the company changed slowly over time and has been screwing the drivers over more and more each time. I honestly see it getting so bad that cab companies will come back once again. Gotta have multiple gig jawns just to equal one half of an income needed in a multiple income world, and still scrape by.
as always, your jawn is spot on . and i even saw Uber is planning on partnering with cab companies to bring them back. like oyu said, going to totally screw the gig jawns
I'm in a population zone of 360,000 and traffick so easy I can bounce from 1 side to the other side in less than 15 minutes, me and another guy was looking at the payout you just described, he told me I was making the surge dry up because I came to spot and waited for surge to come on instead of driving around with no surge (I guess I should say surge always pops at airport and rarely in city) any way dude pointed out the same thing in payout where it showed money uber makes... its almost always a loss for uber... so I cry bs on what they show, how can they lose on 8 out of 10 rides I give and still be in business? Oh BTW we never get streak incentives from uber. Thanks for being here been following for 10 months , this my first reply
They 100% did that to prevent you from getting the promo, I remember there was a $3 peak pay for 2 hours on the door dasher app and I was trying to work during the pay hours and it wouldnt let me until 2 minutes after the promo ended.
Eddie I was on the Gig economy (self-employed) for a long time. Thank god i got out of it, there is so much pressure to basically not go on holiday etc. But for us British we have free medical.
that's right, no days off! and its funny you mention that, i was just listening to a british person who moved to the US and she was saying how shocked she was at our healthcare system
I wouldn’t call that a suspension, usually it means you’ve missed all the notifications and should’ve been ahead of it and submitted the approval for the yearly background check in time so there’s no lapse in your account being active. I’ve been driving Uber for 9 years without missing the document deadlines once. Good work on the pricing and info about Uber’s cut though. I’ve been explaining this to people that I’ve seen them take as much as 60% of my fare and the pity tips come in big time! I have no shame 😂
This weekend I accepted a quest for 600 dollars for 80 rides. I use the destination filter religiously. This weekend for Friday and Saturday when there are surges these days, there will be zero surges on Sunday I didn’t get any destination filters for Friday or Saturday But other drivers that I know they had access to destination filter. Their agents told me that destination filter is unavailable to all drivers in Chicago but that was a big lie. So my goal this weekend was to earn 1500 but I settled for 300 dollars and didn’t work Sunday and now I need an exit plan. You can tell that by the start of the day almost all the drivers had their destination filter in use which prompts uber to take it away for the rest of the drivers but that wasn’t going to fool me. I drove to over 30 homes less than 1 mile away and had to be sneaky and start the ride as soon as someone is walking out the home to see their destination. I realized that all these drivers were using their filters so that meant that I’m the driver getting all the long rides because the other drivers had it blocked out. So I gave up. I don’t do rides over 30 minutes because uber takes 50% so I canceled over 30 rides this weekend gave them all an excuse. Chicago traffic is terrible the roads are in poor condition. 45 mins for a 10 mile ride the rider pays 45 I get 25 bucks uber pockets 20 yeah kiss my ass I’ll be disruptive too
These companies are all the same, the worse where I live is called bolt, they screw drivers and food couriers over every way the can. Surprised they don't show the customers drop off location before hand, has anyone bothered to challenge that in court because that is not self employed.
They have a "do 3 rides and earn an extra 15 dollars" but all 3 rides have to start in los angeles.... 1st ride drop off in LA... second ride drop of in Orange County (Disneyland) so my third ride... so there goes promo.... or they will do earn an extra $1 per ride tonight on all rides in Los Angeles... but first ride has to start in San Diego
My hats off to you bruh for doin’ what you do-I’m a patient person but I don’t think I’d have the patience enough to deal with that much uncertainty just for a little pocket change…f-k that no thank you! 😄✋🏻✋🏻✋🏻
Just had my car stolen while working Uber eats. They won’t cover the car either because I just plated the car a week before it got stolen and it wasn’t registered on the app. And insurance says because I was working Uber when it happened, they aren’t covering it either. 15k loss. Living nightmare 🙁
Don’t get us started with destination mode. “Take photo of yourself to confirm” and then you lose a destination. Silly company makes all the money at the cost of its loyal employees.

Appreciate the time spent here to explain everything. Props to you, Eddie
Bro that opening line @ 1 min, gold. was laughing and clapping at how good the analogy is.
Your hella right...and the amount of skill you have as a uber driver is underrated.
The fact they told you to go kick some rocks! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Time to start your own company!!! “Drivers Ed”!!! 😃
NO ONE SHOULD SUPPORT COMPANIES THAT SCREW OVER THEIR EMPLOYEES!
Stand up for what’s right AMERICA!!!
Dude!! U know how to really get ur point across “Well Well”
I gotta subscribe
There are states where you still don’t know where the destination is?? That was my biggest stresser, but in Cali they show you now. There are some suburbs I won’t drive in. Your vids are TH-cam gold. Thank you!
Id still watch your videos!! Love your positivity!! And rants 👍🏼
2:20 Uber is FULL OF THAT.
Blow that whistle Ed!
🚩🚩🚩 (red flag has to suffice, they don't have a whistle emoji haha)
This wouldn’t surprise me, given Uber’s history.
@@IamMonikaDLC how do you make another account? Wo t they recognize you by you info
they do that surge thing in vegas every morning at 330-4am on the strip...tons of people heading to airport at that time and naturally not a common time for drivers to be out.
the problem with this on my end to stay out, is i have to often pass on ridiculous ride requests that are outside of the surge zone very often. in the end its not worth it sometimes.
The took my rewards away due to my acception rate so I paid the price smh.
really enjoy your channel and stories
thanks so much!
Oh you are soooo a math teacher!! "The minute you start talking numbers to people who don't know numbers, they tune you out" 🤣🤣🤣 My husband is brilliant with numbers, so are my kids. They don't relate to me at all. I often say "stop, just stop, I heard nothing you said, it's like Charlie Browns parents talking right now..so you might as well just stop" 🤣🤣
I do have to admit tho, you explain numbers better than anyone in my life ever has and I totally appreciate how much effort you put into explaining the facts and stats of the situation. Can't argue with these numbers! 💗💗💗
hahaha that's exactly what I'm talking about... props to you for being self aware and admitting you hear nothing but the womp womp womp 😂.. and im pumped that what i learned during the years of teaching paid off
@@Driver_Eddie 😂😂👍
Yo man to keep it 100 your a good driver and cool dude keep it up man!! ill keep watching
you crack me up
This happened to me too and I was driving a lot… they said it was cause of a speeding ticket I had that happened months prior to getting kicked off and it was off the app but it doesn’t make sense cause when I first got hired and had to go thru my background check I still had a couple minor traffic violations at first so the timing was just weird during a holiday weekend as well while I was making good money!
You are cutting it too close or taking rides that are too far away from your primary driving area.
I'd watch your videos no matter what you are doing. Entertaining!
I appreciate that Merit!
bro make this go viral uv explained the situation perfectly, contact some news show or something
wake up you are blessed, the competitor was giving me 20% of the fair
They did the same thing the past 2 years. Always on a weekend when I’m 10 trips away from a bonus
Yeah I had the same problem with Lyft , I worked to get my bonus until Saturday and I need to get 6 more rides for my bonus on Sunday I have to wait 9 hours to get 6 rides I live near philly area ,
damn eddie i hoped imma catch u on uber when i visit pennsylvania man i love ur videos and ur energy but if ur not driving for uber anymore i guess this wont happen. big love from germany man now imma listen to that pocdast babyyy
If you come to philly from Germany, whether I'm back on uber or not, if I'm available I'm taking you for a cheesesteak my friend!

Wow. That's some bs. We love you sweetheart and sending prayers for you
I drove for Uber a bit in sf to make some money while studying.
I just think it’s nice they told everyone they don’t care about their drivers that way drivers understand that 😂
Hey Eddie,
Direct proof that the more you have, the more you want, and that you can never get enough.
Wow, I didn't know you were a math teacher! Never saw that coming. But that now totally makes sense about how you break things down to numbers so easily. Are you back to teaching now? I hope so! You come across as a teacher who is a really positive influence on students. A totally down to earth teacher that pulls no punches and doesn't take shit from students, but is always supportive and there when they need you.
Eddie, You Rock!

I just loved your content!
LOVE your videos Ed. Great stuff.
I do UE and they did the same background check bs to me. I haven't even bothered with getting it straightened out. Most of these gig apps are crooked
Glad I found your channel
Good shit
I know with post mates if you were close to the goal to get a bonus they would stop assigning orders until the time expired.
If you throw in the towel, you're definitely going to have to get another gig that'll afford you the opportunity to continue these videos!
haha appreciate it Kyle! This channel isn't going anywhere, don't worry. And I love that shirt in your thumbnail btw, where did you get it?
@@Driver_Eddie Good thing the content will keep coming!
As far as the shirt goes, I have a buddy that owns a print shop and had him make it for me.

Ohhhhh I am pissed 😤 right along with you!
Uber did this to me with the background check. They need to do do these to where we don’t have to be kicked from the app for days. makes no sense
I got kicked off this week too for good and Lyft because of TH-cam trolls called and said I was driving on drugs.
Uber always was crooked, glad people are waking up.
Wow, this was an insightful video. I bet you would make an interesting podcast host
You're absolutely right!
IMO Business oriented drivers should focus less on wage and labor type protections and more on fair and open access to the marketplace and clear rules so every player has an opportunity to play the game and hopefully even earn a decent living if they play it well,
Forcing more or less competition depending on market conditions is not traditionally the role of the government.

Hope things turn around for you soon.
really sorry to hear that. That's just wrong on uber. U are a great man and deserve better
Already knew how much they take that’s why I don’t do Uber been with Lyft for 5yrs and they are starting the same thing
Uber engineers out there, time to contact Project Veritas and blow the lid off Uber - be brave, do something. I'm going to keep saying this until it happens.
I never not received my quest and I definitely get it done before the last minute unlike my homework assignments
Definitely something fishy happening there
That's crazy it takes uber that long. I drive lyft and they do a background check twice a year. It never takes more then an hour or 2 for them to do.
I’m original from New Brunswick but I’m an Uber Driver in Boulder CO and I totally agree with everything your saying.
I can see Lyft using this video in the future to promote their business.
Sleazy company... that is the problem with online EMCs and that type of business as a service industry
As an ex-uber driver, I can confirm this is accurate, except I never made even close to $50/hr ever.
Uber is your Col. Tom Parker.
They 100% did that to prevent you from getting the promo, I remember there was a $3 peak pay for 2 hours on the door dasher app and I was trying to work during the pay hours and it wouldnt let me until 2 minutes after the promo ended.
Uber driver's reward after having to wear a mask for nearly 2 years in one's own personal car.
Consider TIPPING your good Uber driver, people!
Yeah sounds about right. Uber definitely isn’t the only company who tries to make sure you get close but not quite to hitting their bonuses
Wow Eddie. Nice video hun. You broke it down to a T.
Good point. Sue them!
Wow, haven’t seen those 145 quests in such a long time.
This video needs to blow up
I wouldn’t call that a suspension, usually it means you’ve missed all the notifications and should’ve been ahead of it and submitted the approval for the yearly background check in time so there’s no lapse in your account being active. I’ve been driving Uber for 9 years without missing the document deadlines once. Good work on the pricing and info about Uber’s cut though. I’ve been explaining this to people that I’ve seen them take as much as 60% of my fare and the pity tips come in big time! I have no shame 😂
The only thing Uber about Uber is that they're UberCrooked, from day one.
45 mins for a 10 mile ride the rider pays 45 I get 25 bucks uber pockets 20 yeah kiss my ass I’ll be disruptive too
1:52 And I'm shocked by the fact that someone would pay $35 to go four minutes down the street.
Great video!
My hats off to you bruh for doin’ what you do-I’m a patient person but I don’t think I’d have the patience enough to deal with that much uncertainty just for a little pocket change…f-k that no thank you! 😄✋🏻✋🏻✋🏻
:30 What you said about numbers was spot on
Wanna hear the best part, Eddie? As soon as the video ended, I got an Ad.
What was the Ad for? Uber!
All those earnings they don't want to give to drivers. Saturate marketing of an already known product and brand.
Just had my car stolen while working Uber eats. They won’t cover the car either because I just plated the car a week before it got stolen and it wasn’t registered on the app. And insurance says because I was working Uber when it happened, they aren’t covering it either. 15k loss. Living nightmare 🙁
Can anyone tell me if the clip from 2:40 - 3:05 is in any video? I can't seem to find it
