I think the Manor Lords demo was crucial to showing beyond a shadow of a doubt that the game really does exist.
And that it's actually good!!

The thing is, for triple A developers, cashflow is the one thing that matters. They will only add in more effort if it is absolutely needed to increase cashflow. Small devs like this one approach their creation more like art, not like industrial business.

Triple A studio/company ect not devs, the devs have no control over what they create these days, they have deadline, a list to fulfill they're restricted by policies and time.

As the years go by i find myself less and less excited for new games, unlike back in the day when i was little and always hyped for new titles. Manor Lords and Kenshi 2 are currently the only games i am truly excited for, and that Manor Lords demo just fulfilled all expectations i and propably alot of people had. Damn i cant wait to throw hundreds of hours into that game.
Its because every time we get excited for a new game after like.. 2018, the studio always fucks it up by doing stupid shit that ruins the game or the mood for everyone wanting to play.
Same here for those 2 games.

I hope the Kenshi 2 could live up with the expectations aswell. I like indie games on most part because some indie dev can make some new stuff anothers brings back old memories and games what many people seeking for. I liked the Manor Lord demo and that is truly an unique thing demos as it is still be made and exists. Most AAA developers and publishers does not care about if the player not sure with a game so not making demos calling it expensive yet a indie dev made a demo version to try out and get feedback. This puts into shame the major developers whom creating garbages often and does not let the player to try out a game for enough time to find out if a game is buggy or not. If you made a purchase you believed is good but turned out bad choice then you are getting a game you never will play again and lose time-money.
I am always trying to watch indie game studios and often checking kickstarter and other funding sites for potential games. Glad I am not the only who wants to play Kenshi 2. The first game with it's own things is very underrated despite a lot of people got it and heard of it. A true masterpiece.
I try not to get hyped for games nowadays but the demo for manor lords really impressed me. Can't wait to see what the game is like when it is finished.

This, and, I was pleasantly surprised, Hogwarts Legacy. Yeah, some bugs, some delay, but overall they did everything they promised us. Which is impressive after the last Portkey Games game that was a mobile cash grab ransoming children's lives for our cash XD
@@alendonvaldor5808 I do want to play hogwarts legacy. Gonna wait for awhile for a decent sale though. Looks like alot of fun, but not a huge die hard fan willing to pay that much for a game.

Games like this hopefully never stop getting developed. I want this to be supported for years and years to come.

I would love to see crime mechanics. Having a sheriff keeping the peace in your own kingdom. Not everyone in city life, all get along. Even court houses where you can reside over a verdict.
if he implements the ability to fight with your men. then hands down, this will be the best city builder rts game EVER made

Most of the work was done by a single person but now that the dev has hooded horse to publish they might provide the funds necessary to hire a few more indie devs
Recently got into RTS games last year getting Ancestor's Legacy and spending too many hours into since. I'm 25 now and I haven't been heavy into gaming since high school. but now thanks to your video i'm beyond hyped for Manor Lords, had no idea it was one dev.

This is a game that I randomly came across. As someone who tends to get bored with city builders within 2 hours, I reckon this is genuinely different. Most of the time, everything looks too similar and too clean and there is nothing to do other than carry on building. That's why I'm excited about this game. It's not just a city builder... It's so much more.
I really hope we can create a custom castle. He could use the same system for building the walls and towers as he did with the roads. And then maybe you could snap buildings like the keep onto the walls.

I just love how the city builder isn't grid based it just feels so organic
didn't know this game existed until today, great vid, also, I would like to say, this reminds me of a modernized stronghold and I love it for this, Stronghold was one of my favorite games growing up, and it's nice to see it's not a dead niche of medieval city builders with RTS gameplay mixed in.
I am incredibly hyper for this game after playing the shit out of the demo. It feels like a more complex modern reimagination of stronghold, my all time favorite rts.

Stardew Valley was also made by one person (code, assets, music, etc. All of it), it's a different type of game of course, but also shows how much one person can achieve. In a world with AAA studios doing their thing and the amount of scam projects it's refreshing to see that passion projects still manage somehow, even if it is rare.

Completely unrelated to the game, but I absolutely loved the way you read the script. Especially when you were describing the details of the game at 10:00, the tone, breathing, etc. was really captivating. Great script writing and delivery!
The opportunities, when you think about it, are endless. If per se, imagine a multiplayer mode was created, with mechanics of vassalage for long time running servers, just to bring balance for rich and starting out players, so the latter wouln’t just be eaten up. Of course it’d be really difficult to balance out the benefits of that, or conquest or even any other kind of diplomatic actions and relations for that matter. Could hardly imagine the gameflow of such a concept, but I can still fantasize it’d be soooooo coool. Even with out it, this exact kind of rts is something i always wished for since i was a little boy so am really keen on finally playing it!!
Man now that I have a job buying new games is less scary. I only bought old games on sale and after watching like 2 separate reviews. The millisecond this comes out I am getting it.

I was afraid the huge amount of hype would be ultimately reductive to the game but seeing Slavicmagic pull through like this will hopefully set a precedent with in the industry to motivate companies to do the work they are truly capable of instead of the copy and paste drivel that gaming has become in the past few years

that's how much potential this game has and i'm sure he'll rack up much deserved $
I have seen no game ever able to come close to Manor lords. It is like every strategic fan Bois RTS+Medieval+TBS player ever dreamt about. His hard work really will pay him soon. Cant wait.

this is just me but imagine someone modding this to have things like werewolves and stuff like that the roam the woods and you can recruit people who hunt the monsters the roam around. I know thats very specific but i've always wanted something like that

demo was the most fun id had on a game in awhile. Playing it for the last time before it shut down was like saying good bye to a good friend after vacation was over you hadnt seen in a long long time. But hes moving back home soon and i cant wait til that happens. I want to play this damn game so bad

This game proves that the separation between large developers and the gamers is massive. They are missing what we the gamers have been asking for and wanting, instead they are looking at making games that make money, NOT what is fun and wanted by the community.

I’m gonna say, when this finally releases it will be “The little indie that could”. Either way I am sad that this wasn’t released earlier, as now I’m going to go to collage soon and won’t be able to enjoy it as much as if it was released in 2020. Either way, I’m glad others can enjoy it soon.

getting to play the demo of Manor Lords was pretty cool and am stoked for when it will come out. it had gone silent running for quite a while and i thought it was going to get removed from Steam at some point but am i glad i was proven wrong

I just really hope they can deliver on the combat and diplomacy side of the game, otherwise its just another city builder. It's what originally had me very excited for the game. Be real bummer if that side of things takes forever to materialize.

I won't lie for the longest time I avoided manor lords videos cause that was (I think ) around the time Banor lords Initially came out. I had just written it off as " oh their just trying to catch hype make a quick buck on something people have been waiting a while for". That being said when the demo came out I tried it , still haden't seen any videos on it at that point in time . I was blow away, with all the stuff they had in the game making it clear "this is early as hell still". I set my expectations as such, again blow fucking away , only wish my potato as computer would have been able to run it better. None the less I'm now I'm all aboard the hype train for this. I can't wait to see how it turns out in the long run. I truly do hope mod support is supported cause every game benefits from mods.
I never got to play the demo and am kicking myself for having missed the chance. I really hope another demo is dropped so I can play it and we can get a second taste at how this game is developing.

i dont care if this game costs 100 or 200 dollars i have already saved enough money so i could get my hands on it immediately when its released, its all i ever asked for, for a city building game and its my dream to be able to immerse myself in a sandbox such as this with freedom to build however i want and to have a feature where i could also play a combat system? holy sh.t you have no i idea how hyped i was when i heard theres a combat system its everything i wanted and felt like its tailored made for someone like me who likes to create a kingdom and going to war whenever i want and for years it made me so sad that the only game that could give me a that kind of experience is age of empires where you get to build and create your own army to go to war but thats it, once you win you restart. but manor lords is what im looking forward too and i would spend alot of money to finally get to experience my dream game dlc or whatever ill buy it anything that is connected to the game i would buy to experience the full game
